so happy about this!
Don't get too excited yet.. we still need someone to develop an aosp kernel for our phone. We dont even have one for gb yet so i think it will be a while. I'm syncing the code now. If I knew how to convert a kernel I would. Lol

Saw this as well. I hope we can get someone to get us an AOSP Kernel. Without it it this doesn't help us.
Yeah, it will probably be a while before we see a beta or alpha rom. It will probably be January or longer before a stable ROM is available.
Better luck on the Nexus S 4G though, or maybe even the Evo phones since they have worker CM and AOSP kernals.
bubby says he has an aosp kernel, but he also said his laptop died
Clearr shock that baby to life!

Ohh maybe I'll build it for my nexus s 4g
Does anyone know what converting a kernel to aosp entails? I'll give it a shot for sure. I'm guessing the first step is to unpack our boot.img but I don't know what else has to be done. I wish there was a guide somewhere that tells you how to get your kernel working with aosp

I think he is talking about the ICS KERNEL open source. But is way too early for kernel source for a phone that is not out yet.

I thought it had incorrect files to where the touch keys wouldnt lght up and had problems with signal.... And.. The ics souce would come out around the galaxy nexus tine right?

Not for our phone. We won't get ics kernel source til we get Ics, probably like may or whenever they get around to it.

Im loving the development work that is going on for our beautiful TMobSGS2, but I'm surprised I havent seen a ICS port yet, especially with the Galaxy Nexus images being released.
Is anyone working on this in secret, or are there any other ICS roms that happen to work on our phone?
I would truly just love a rooted stock ICS rom. thats my dream at the moment. I dont know how to improve on ICS except switches in the notification bar, which is easy enough.
I doubt we will have a good working ICS before atleast a month from now. That is if we even get a stable one.
ICS came out two weeks ago on galaxy nexus...if you really want it then buy a galaxy nexus.

Are there going to be any pure ics roms made for galaxy s2. Currently using a vibrant with pure ics running, love pure ics just want a faster phone. Saw recent video running ics on galaxy s2 with no visible changes nothing like nexus. I suppose it its because of touch wiz. Is there a dev working on pure ics like what is on nexus? Trying to figure which phone to get. Thanks for your comments in advance.

theres gotta be a million people working on a rom for it, the sources are out.
just below your thread is posted about how it's coming officially. If someone doesn't make it stable before the end of q1 [pfffft] at least samsung will have it out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402463&page=2
There should be some roms soon. Best you may be able to hope for is a CM based rom. Not pure ICS but pretty close
Where did that ics port thread go?
I know we had one in here but I can't seem to find it? Did it not go well?

Cause ignorant @ssholes wont shut up and troll on the stupid thread. So Rev probably requested it to be deleted. Honestly non of us in the community should get a developement anymore cause as a community we all should be one... Not a majority being trolls and wont shut up. And have a small lil percent of grateful people. It doesnt matter what hes been doing in the past.. You find lil things just to fraud a dude and you bash him for trying. I think we should pitch in some donations or something to try to get a dev to create a dual/tri boot for this phone
.. If it's possible for our device.

It would be nice if bootmanager worked on our phone but the zImage kernel causes issues with the way they handle the boot from SD function

From what hes saying it may be possible, but a huge PITA to actually get off the ground. Just for curiosity, why dual boot anyway? (Phone wise) i do on my computer but for phone never really saw a reason. Just thought i would ask.

Options from Stock to AOSP possibilities. I would much enjoy being able to switch back and forth, even if it's between CM10 and AOKP, without the hassle of having to backup, restore, etc. And from what I've heard of dual booting on Android devices, the apps stay up to date with eachother. Like data from apps, and text messages will carry over etc. But I may be wrong.
It would be nice to be able to have a stock image as well as your favorite rom so for GPS issues and prl/profile issues you could just boot back to stock real quick, update and then be on your way.
Dual booting is possible.
If the I9100 developers can do it, so can we... We just need a kernel that makes this possible.
Here is a link to the Siyah kernel which has dual boot capabilities.

Mattix, I googled and found that, that's what really made me think it's possible. But our kernel is way different, so I didn't take that just as a possibility.
Sent from my SPH-D710 Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch
The hardware us the same except for the radio and nfc... We can dual boot with the right kernel.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Chris is good with that. I wonder how we could persuade him to give it a shot.
Sent from my SPH-D710 Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch
Either him or agat, and possibly get the Siyah dev to jump in. A combination of all 3 would make one awesome kernel.

Dual booting is not impossible, but the bootmanager app which allows booting numerous roms from sd would need an entirely separate app for our device due to the zImage needing to be implemented into a bootmanager specifically for devices with zImage kernels. Combining it into the existing version is impossible due to the boot from sd function needing
