Xperia play charging problem - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have anyone experienced this?
I was charging the phone until 100 % (the indicator on power button is green) and pulls the usb off from the phone and subsequently kills the light on the power button.
I left the phone and minutes later the indicator turned back on, the phone is thinking it is still charging, so does the battery meter.
If this happens, it eats battery fast. Have any idea what causes this and how to solve this permanently beside restarting?
Thanks for responding
Btw, I have android 2.3.2, no root

battery charging gone wireless! EPIC! that's advance technology man!
neh, just kidding..
try reflashing, solves most of bizzare problems almost always.. and update to more recent fw's if you can. besides, 2.3.2 was really known to be very buggy.

Sorry, double post

I've had a similar problem on both 2.3.2 and 2.3.3, no root, no unlocked bootloader.

Can I update to above 2.3.2 without losing all my files, apps? Pre loaded games etc etc

I tried another battery it still won't boot, I went to the extent of trying my battery in another xperia play and the battery works perfectly in it. I'm stumped plz help

You may have bricked it. Have you tried installing any rooms lately? Consider flashing back your stock firmware with "flash tool".
I have a stock device that has never been flashed or tampered with. Does anyone know what the flashing led mean?

Leave it charging. Sometimes the battery is too low to turn on. If not, try a new battery

Didnt u read.... I used another battery in it and it didnt boot, plus I tried my battery in another xperia play and it worked!!
If it's never even been rooted, then you should take it in for repair. Maybe a hardware issue.

Maybe if he researched but oh well, this what I have and sometimes it indicates a hardware component is damaged meaning find out what it is,
you should:
Go to your phone provider and ask them do NOT MENTION ABOUT ANY ROOTING OR BL UNLOCKING.
Find out what problem it has .
Or never use it again (Dont do it)
In my case the digitlizer "Screen" is broken, because back in march I used to boot my phone and the screen wouldnt sometimes work of course there could be another problem but...
Yea I realised I tried turned it on with the battery in the wrong way. I realised it didn't come on and when I fixed the battery right it still wouldn't come on. It just kept flashing the red light only when I tried to charge via USB or wall charger

ICS Problems

This has been pretty much been the most frustrating update process of my 4 Android devices that I have owned.
Hoping some of the sharp people here can help me out.
Buttons Not Working - About every third or fourth time I wake my phone my physical buttons do not work. I have to put the phone to sleep and re-wake (sometimes multiple times) to get my phone's buttons to work.
Excessive Battery Drain - Yikes!!! I have uninstalled all my apps, and it is still occurring. Any other ideas to figure out what might be causing this?
Constant 3G data movement - When wi-fi is off, my phone is constantly pushing 3g data up and down....non-stop!
Excessive Phone Heat - My phone is running like a furnace.
Now, I think the last three are probably connected in some way.

That is not ICS you have something running in the background. That would cause all of that. Get a battery monitor app and see what is running
I'm having the same problems and even turning everything off still having the issues

It's not just them, I have the same problem and I've done a factory reset and hadn't loaded any apps. It's the update.

I am glad I am not the only ones with these problems.
It has to be a ICS function that is causing the excessive battery drain.
I currently have no non stock apps installed.
I have noticed that the battery ran from 100% to 25% but battery drain had no slowed considerably....maybe faulty logic in how they are calculating percentages?
The one I would really like to solve is the buttons not working, as there will be lots of battery related threads as more and more people upgrade.

The malfunctioning buttons have been happening to some of us on every ROM, whether it's Gingerbread or ICS. It happens to mine on stock GB or stock I'VE.
Just so you know, you can tap the volume Roche to wake up the buttons. You don't have to cycle the screen. Tap the volume button, wait second or so and you will see the capacitive buttons blink once... That means they've reset. Sometimes you have to do it twice.

Same issue here with the retarded battery life, stock rooted FF18. It's pathetic. Constant battery drain while "sleeping", with wifi on or off. Guess i'll have to try a different ROM.

Actually rule a ton of people are reporting these exact same issues in the sprint community running factory ics update. So these issues are pretty common. I am also experiencing quite a few myself.

This is the first time I have ever seen this mentioned for ics. Do you by chance have any other links confirming that this works? I am very skeptical about this and sounds more of a voodoo type of fix..

"#1 TURN OFF YOUR PHONE and charge your phone until u see and blue light & 100% sign on your screen(while the phone is still off) #2 remove battery & then unplug charger. LEAVE BATTERY OUT FOR 5 FULL MINUTES. #3 put battery back in . Let me know if that works(it should)"

I tried this yesterday when I was getting terrible battery life. I went from fully charged to dead in 3 hours flat.
I ended up doing a factory reset with sfhub's one-click and am slowly testing and restoring apps to see what's acting as a vampire.

You should try it again if it didn't work!
Not everyone's issue is going to be caused by the same thing. What may work for you may not always work for everyone else. It may be an app or ICS in general causing the issue.

the same charging indicator is present in the settings menu... plus if it's just a ui bug it would have disappeared with the factory reset

Oops, if I remember correctly, ICS on Arc / Arc S didn't show when your phone was fully charged, it just continued showing the flash/battery charging icon even if it was fully charged. This problem is fixed in a lot of stock ICS based custom ROMs..

Phone charging issues

Hello, I have a weird issue going on with my s3. My phone discharges like crazy when my data is on, and by that I mean it even discharged when connected to a charger. Also the phone only charges when connected to usb, and does not charge when connected to wall charger, even tho it shows the phone is charging but the battery percentage stays static. I have tried changing batteries, chargers everything. I also changed roms, formatted the whole thing, reinstalled and still the issue remains. Is there anything I can do? Please help.
Thank you.

Seems like you have something running in the background when you data is enabled. Perhaps a app using GPS and data.
I'd download BBS (BetterBatteryStats) to narrow down the issue. Also, when you go under settings->battery, anything suspiciously high?
I have looked at battery usage abs android system is always usually high. Here is the screenshot.

Download BBS (you can find it on xda). Charge your battery to full and post the results once your battery is down to like 50-60%.
Android system can be a lot of things, seems you have awful signal though. That could be it, have you tried flashing another modem?
Actually I'm not on my hometown, this the signal is bad...otherwise usually u have good signal. Anyway I'll install bbs and get back with more data. Thanks for replies.

Do you have touch keys (tone) on? If so, turn that off.
Anything that makes your phone make sound from the rear speaker triggers AudioOut_2.
Ok I will try disabling touch sounds...but I have always had touch sounds on abd never had any issue, I dnt know what changed suddenly.
Thank you tho.

[Q] [ION]Very rapid battery drain. Instant 90% to 70% change

hi,
My Xperia Ion has been a bit strange recently. I would leave it over night after a full charge and is would loose 10%. that's ok. But once I start using it at some point shortly after the battery would instantly jump from 90% to 70%. This also happens when I reboot the phone. It would reboot missing 20% to 30% of its charge.

I'm running stock rooted JB. I've only had the phone for about 3 weeks.
is this a known issue? haven't been able to find much info on it.

It's not Sony's fault.
If you want to calibrate your battery safely, you have to do this. This is for all devices.
