No 3g?

Ok, well I recently activated my Epic after switching to an Evo to test it out. (didn't like it) But after I went through the process of activating it with a Sprint rep on the Chat line, now my 3g won't connect, like the 3g symbol doesn't even pop up, but my 4g connects without a problem. Any ideas why this could have happened?

Wow! Thank you so much! It worked, ha I feel pretty dumb now.
But anyways the Sprint rep told me there was an outage on the 3g network, and then another one told me that they stopped using 3g and switched to 4g lol

Yeah I wish they stopped 3G for 4g. Glad it worked for u bro.

Bad service on my Evo....

I never have more than one bar of service on my evo, at best two bars. My reception is -84 dBm. I live in Houston so the area is not the problem. Everything else is working great. Any advice on fixing? Though I would try here before calling sprint.

Did you update the radio recently?

If that's when it started you should revert back to a previous version.
Its also true that after you update a radio you should update your prl and data profile

No this has been going on for a while now, I was hoping the radios would help and they did for 3g speed. Just my service blows. What is considered a good dBm?

You mean it's always this bad with that phone or it's always this bad no matter which Sprint phone you have?

I have a HTC evo 4g, I think I noticed right after I rooted it last November. Running cm7 rom.

Rooting won't do anything related to that...
CM7 tends to be more accurate on displaying your real reception.
You may just be at the edge of a tower.

In my settings, (Mobile network state: disconnected). Could that be it?

you wanna talk about bad service!!
I just pray to God none of you are from west Michigan... our network has been over its capacity since December 22, 2010.. I know this cause I work at a service and repair store, makes me want to hurt a child.
texts come in hours/days late and if they do come in.. it comes in 5+ times... calls take 45-50 seconds to connect, voicemails come in DAYS later, you will have a missed call and your phone never rang.. internet is almost impossible. makes me hate my job!!!

You are having issues connecting to EVDO so your phone is in 1xRTT mode.
Try update profile.

Having trouble understanding what you mean. If you type like you are on a computer instead of mobile-speak, it would be easier.

Well my network went out again and now its doing the same thing and then i loose signal like lost then it come back and on that pic the first one changes to the same and then tri mode then back to paging and then channel goes uo high to 650 and it goes to tri mode again and hopefully this post

It does that scanning of different channels either because of authentication failure or because it can't find an evdo signal. It is just scanning the different frequencies defined in the PRL.

prl 00001 and sprint airwave

I just recently recieved my airwave and noticed that if im running on prl 00001 the bars are constantly jumping from full to two and sometimes none. Even if I have full bars the data still runs slow. If I update my prl it goes into full bars and data runs properly but prl 00001 gets me better service with no dropped calls while on the go. What shoukd I do?

You have have full bars but you can be on 1x
Most custom roms tell you if your on 3g or 1x
Also you can use the speed test app and it'll tell you on what you are on
And I'm not to sure on this but I don't think air wave does data

If you are on 00001, you likely are not connecting to the airave since that is looked at as a Sprint tower.
My cousin has an airave, and it seems to do data as well.

Dial *99 to see if your connected..
I have SENSATIONS and its WICKED!!

I dialed *99 and it said I am connected to it but the voice was very choppy you coukd hardly hear but I do get service throughout the house now just twwo to three bars not full bars like I would get if I was on a regular prl

So what tower does prl 00001 connect to if it reads airwave as a sprint tower? And does this mean any manual uodated prl wont connect to airwave?

I talked to a sprint tech today and he said there is been lots of people reporting about the gs3 not playing nice with the airwave. He changed some setting. On there end for my airwave and so far so good.

I just got 2 GS3's & have a GS2, my GS3 is on PRL 25009, the GS3's never link to my Airave & the GS2 will every once & a while, are you saying they can correct this issue on their side?

Yes. And no. My phone still bounces. But. If I unplug the airwave then plug it back in. Then it usually will work. But. Today nothing is working so back to calling sprint I go.

I'm on 25010 and I connect to the Airave just fine every time.

Toy want good service go with Verizon decent bill go with sprint... I ha a Superbowl party last year many many friends several with same types of phones and carriers Verizon smoke us all but when asked how much you pay for the service it was unreal... almost double what I pay for two phones and I came in a distant second

I would not mind having 4G even if crappy.

Your Download speeds should always be almost double your Upload speeds, when they're not like in your screen shot usually means there's a glitch in your tower, if it's consistant I would **72786* it, happens to me sometimes when switching roms. It needs to re sync itself with the tower stuff. Just throwin that out there, hope it helps. Also my speeds on 3G have been all over the place because of the tower work going on in my area. One day I get 2.3 mps the next I'm crawling at less than 100 kps. But yes much more enjoy sending Sprint half the $$ Verizon wants!
