That's Strange I Get Excellent 4G, Even better Than A Few Verizon I know

The LTE towers in your area may still be in the testing phase

Yeah, I get different speeds every day. I just thought that was especially crappy.

I would not mind having 4G even if crappy.

Your Download speeds should always be almost double your Upload speeds, when they're not like in your screen shot usually means there's a glitch in your tower, if it's consistant I would **72786* it, happens to me sometimes when switching roms. It needs to re sync itself with the tower stuff. Just throwin that out there, hope it helps. Also my speeds on 3G have been all over the place because of the tower work going on in my area. One day I get 2.3 mps the next I'm crawling at less than 100 kps. But yes much more enjoy sending Sprint half the $$ Verizon wants!

Question on sprint data woahs

Is sprint data woahs a speed issue or a capacity issue. Seems like data speeds are better late night and early mornings. But during peak times its slow......anyone have any thoughts on this. Because honestly data speeds were fine until a couple months after the evo dropped and sprint became the only unlimited data provider...

Data speeds have been an issue in some areas since the beginning of the year.
It's a capacity issue.
They've been working on it and network vision will solve the issue.

I first got Sprint when evo dropped... returned it and cancelled because I couldn't even stream Pandora at my gym lol. Ended up getting it again with another device through work basically, still sucked. Moved to a new area, is better, but still sucks compared to data speeds offered by other carriers in same area. Right before iPhone hit, got way worse, I actually even began roaming some places, that's how bad it got. Lately, it has been even worse. Places I got decent download speeds I now get maybe 20-400kbps, while tmobile and att pull 2-7mbps all over town. And no, it isn't my device, same issues on evo, epic 4g, epic touch, nexus s, photon, arrive...
Point is, sprint in Colorado is getting worse by the month. We used to think they ere upgrading, but it has been too long. I know it is same case for Atlanta.
Why so I stay? Service is practically free. If it wasn't, I'd pay more just so that I wouldn't have to be on damn wifi to load Facebook even.

Disappointed with Sprint data in my neighborhood

As you can see I don't have internet at home through Sprint. The Wifi was off. Decided to swich carriers. Already called sprint today and asked them to waive my early cancellation fee. He said he will call me next Tuesday.
You sure you had Wifi off? It shows it as on in the screenshot.
But you can check and see if Network Vision is upgrading soon in your neighborhood.

Yes it was off. I turned it on and went back to the program to take the snapshot. Here is a pick with wifi on.
PS: I'm rocking your ICS theme in my Calk ROM btw. You are the man buddy.
I'm running ek02 ROM, desperado 1.3 ek02 kernel and ek02 modem. I'll flash el29 modem and see if I notice any difference.
I'll flash ek02 again and post the numbers.
Now I'm getting 200's to 450. There must be varying amounts of network traffic tonight. It's only 12:41am, so people are probably still awake and using the data network. You could try a different host like Naples. Sometimes speakeasy speedtest on a browser gives different numbers out of Atlanta. Wanna see a crazy ass screen shot with 4g that I think was a fluke?
Miami is a city being worked on now. You won't see improvements for another 2 to 3 months. The reason for all the decrease on speeds is due to the off loading sprint is doing right now

I think I'm gonna set my phone to 24/7 roam on verizon to get my $10 worth then.
Not important to me. Neither is 3g for that matter. I spend 90% of the day within reach of wifi. And when I'm out and about, I don't mind the slow 3g speeds (500k). I don't do anything on my phone that is bandwidth intensive.

Actually the first month after the Epic's release date, Sprint store sales reps were telling customers the additional $10 was specifically for either using 4G or to bring 4G to your area within the next 6 months. That's the only reason I want 4G, the company allowed a huge amount of reps to sell the phone with that sales pitch. To try and quell the angst, Sprint implemented the charge across all "smart devices".
Closest 4G area is ~400mi away from me.
4G area is pointless in my area. I've rarely ever gotten it, and all it does is drain battery anyway. I'm curious to see how good LTE will be, and if it'll actually be in my area for once.

Wink wink. . . . nudge nudge. We all know the 10 dollars is for 4g no matter what Sprint calls it now. It ABSOLUTELY was for 4g service in the beginning before everyone complained and Sprint decided to just make everyone pay the fee, as the only phones that had to pay were 4g phones.
Ummm...cause it's fast. Being able to stream youtube, internet radio and HBO at my work desk is kind of awesome. Hope LTE is even better, and just as unlimited.

I was in SLC last month and had solid 4g in the neighborhood above the capitol. Didn't go too far from there so I can't speak to other areas.
I've literally traveled all over America due to being in a touring metal band, and I can honestly say that 1. Sprint's service ****ing SUCKS ****. And 2. 4G LTE is extremely spotty. Luckily at home here in Baltimore I have 4G all over, but anywhere other than the east coast, you're lucky to get LTE. I had great service when I was in Denver earlier this summer, but no 4G whatsoever if I recall correctly (And I don't, because Colorado is a... "Medical" state. )

I lol'ed at the your description of how Sprint's service sucks...especially since I generally agree. But down here in Dallas, I get pretty great LTE coverage. I think because we were one of the first markets to launch LTE. In some places in town I get 30MB+ download speed so I cant complain. But in the outskirts of town and suburbs...it isnt nearly that good but I'll still usually be able to connect to LTE.

I flashed a stock rom to get the updated PRL. Looks good. What's different about it?
Also, I get pretty decent 4G coverage in Houston, Texas with Sprint, even out to the suburbs on the north side. It's not nearly as fast as the service I had with verizon, though, but it is at least consistent.
Once you get past the city limits on the east or south, though, both 3G and 4G get iffy.
I have awsome Sprint Airave coverage at home.
I hope someone makes a app like RoamControl that works with our Optimus G so my phone will work outside of my house.
