Hi friendly XDA Arc guys.
I just searched threads and couldn't find anything exactly like this that works for me.
So, I flashed this 4.0.1.A.0.283 prerooted .img file at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269937
All went well in fastboot until I restarted the phone and now it just hangs on the SE logo - well, in fact, it does a swirly graphic thing after some minutes but then goes back to the SE logo. I left it for about an hour and tried several times, took the battery out for 10 secs, etc.
Any ideas before I try anything drastic ?
Thanks in advance
You did flash the FTF first right?
Oooops. No. I thought the whole point of the rooted firmware was that I just needed to flash that with fastboot (especially as they are both huge files).
Do I have to download the ftf of the firmware then, flash that in flashtools and then do the img in fastboot ??
Exactly, all that .img file replaces is your system partition (which allows root access), you need to fully update to 2.3.4 by flashing the ftf then replace the system partition via fastboot and you should be good to go!
OK - thanks very much for your help. I'll download the ftf in the morning and hopefully get it sorted.

i have just unlocked the device bootloader and it works, but the wired thing is that i cant make the device appear on the computer from the usb connection.
what can i do?
More details wouldn't go a miss.
i cant understand why it happend, and i couldnt reach the sdcard without the phone (no SD available) so i used an old phone with the same connection as the arc and reached the sd card threw him to put the files for cm7 flashing.
another questions if anyone will know - what are the pros and the cons of CM7 vs SE stock rom?
Hi!
I haved the same issue. I think we deleted some system app.
I suggest to flash the stock ftf with flashtool first. And WIPE USER DATA.
After then, the CM7 boot.img and the rom once more. And WIPE USER DATA.
This way is solved the problem to me.
bukest
ps.: of course, you will lose all your data. but I only found this way to solved that problem.
damn it! huge problem!
i tried to flash the lt18i ftf file from the CM7 thread and i got stuck on the SE boot screen, boot loop.
so i tried to flash again the kernal and install the updated files from the sd and it makes the phone stuck on the free xperia project logo.
what to do?

Bro, you doing the same things like me, lol. DD
1. Flash lt18i ftf.
2. Flash Doomlord .42 (v13) kernel.
Now, you have .42 with root. If you like it, jump to 6.
If you don't like it:
3. Flash cm7 boot.img
4. Update CM7 from CWM
5. Update Gapps from CWM
Now you have CM7.1 (FXP45)
6. Enjoy.
i did 3-5 (im sure the first two are not necessary) and its still stuck on the free xperia project logo

Okay. The first 2 solved the problem for me. I'm still on .42(LT18i) with Doomlord v13 kernel. Try to take this to have a working phone first.
But if you found another way, don't hesitate to share the results.
Best regards,
bukest
yea i tried and its working.(no bootloop)
thank you
btw - feels alot more faster! i have to test it XD
Hi, i recently upgraded my xperia arc lt15i to the new ics software, all went well and everything working fine so i decided to root the phone which i managed to do with no problems. Being the tinkerer that i am i decided to move some files from my phone memory to sd card. Bad idea! My phone locked up and is now stuck in boot loop. I tried to flash the ics firmware but cannot do it because i need to turn on usb debugging which obviously i can't do. Is there anyway i can resolve this? The annoying thing is that i can see the files i moved on my sd card when plugged into my laptop if only i could transfer them back to phone memory all would be good. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks Phil
Use aroma file manager from the android dev forums. It'll let you move files in recovery.

Thanks but i can't seem to find the aroma downlaod anywhere and how do i start my phone into recovery?

Aroma File manager can be found in the Android themes and apps section (not in Arc themes and apps) i think so..
To boot into recovery press the volume down button while Sony Ericsson logo (name) is shown
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
Ok, so i've found the aroma file and copied it to sd card. Now I can't seem to get my phone into recovery mode. Also how will i know my phone is in recovery???
You'll need a kernel that has cwm to get into recovery...
So flash a new kernel on and then press volume down on boot screen to get into recovery. Though this means you'll have to unlock your boot loader
I tried flashing new software to my phone but it wouldn't have it because usb debugging can't be turned on, will i have the same problem trying to flash a kernal?
Cheers
How do i flash a kernal with cwm to my phone, do i need to have fastboot on my computer? I fear i am getting out of my depth! i need an idiots guide!!
Flashing a kernel doesn't deal with usb debugging and all.. First of all, tell me whether your bootloader is unlocked or not! Then I'll explain in steps!
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
Neither u need usb debugging to flash a new firmware or to upgrade the current rom..
for flashing purposes only fastboot or flashmode are required..
download the ics firmware ftf file and flash it via flashtool..
At Gire.prasad, I haven't unlocked the boot loader so i asume it is locked.
At now.i.feel. I tried flashing ics firmware again via flash tool but it wouldn't do it, it came up with an error saying it can't connect to my phone.
Thanks
Yes Yes Yes, my phone is back in action. I just flash ics firmware using flashtool again and it worked fine. i tried this the other day and it didn't work so something i downloaded from all of the posts must of helped.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou
It has been a learning curve and i have learnt my lesson. Not to dive in too deep too fast!!!
Thanks to you all again for your in put.

Hi Sam,
You can use CWM to format "system", and clear the cache.
Then re-flash the rom, and see if that allows you to boot up normally.
If this fails, then you can flash one of the stock roms on this thread to get your phone up and running again - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
Once you are up and running, remember to make a CWM backup before trying something risky (and yes, Google apps can be considered risky )

OK, so now you need to use "flashtool" - you'll have to search for it on the forums if you don't know what to look for...
Then you can find the firmware for your phone on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22105604
When you use flashtool with a firmware like this it overwrites the entire operating system with one that definitely works - even if you have a locked boot-loader.
Once you have a working phone you can start with the whole root and custom rom thing again...
Good luck
the reason for your bootloop is wrong kernel i think... you may have tried to flash jellybean rom with ics kernel...try to change kernel if you wanna flash jb again

Hello, Hotfingers
I'm sorry to revive this old thread, but I seem to have the same problem - only I flashed back to my stock firmware using flashtool and it's STILL stuck on the Sony logo for a whole half hour with nothing new on the screen. Can anyone help me out here?
edit: never mind, I found out that I was flashing the kernel the whole time rather than the firmware. Thank you very much for the help!
Hotfingers please Help ME
the phone only shows the sony logo but does connect by fastboot.
i have attached the log. the flashtool wont go pass where it says device connected.
please help....
same problem here
To recover, put your phone into flashmode and then install stock firmware from a FTF file by using Flashtool.
Hi All,
First of all, Thanks to XDA and FreeXperia project. You guys are doing great.
Problem Description:
Initially my phone had a Genuine ICS 4.04 from Sony Xperia [build 6.1.A.2.55]. I heard about CM10 and Jelly Bean 4.1.2 for Xperia S and I wanted to try it out.
So, at first, for unlocking the bootloader, I followed a few procedures suggested in XDA forums about Xperia S and Youtube videos on how to root it and so, I was able to unlock it successfully.
Next while flashing(This is where I made a mistake) , I downloaded FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip from FreeXperia project site.
I pushed the FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip to sdcard.
I flashed boot.img, but the flash didnt succeed.
Later I figured out that I had to download FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip. The LT26i was a.k.a "nozomi".
I flashed boot.img now again which is from FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip, then I could see the FreeXpria Logo and purple light on top. I pressed vol up to enter recovery mode.
But, now the zip image in sdcard is FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip. So, I cannot flash that.
Is there anyway for me to copy the FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip file in my PC to a location in sdcard of phone so that I can point to it during the recovery mode or during fastboot mode, to take it and flash it ??
Is there anyway for me to completely redo the whole set of procedures, putting my phone to a sane state, fully working state with old 4.04 running on it ??
Later, adding to the list of risks, I tried the below command to flash all the contents in the FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip file after all the above procedures.
" fastboot flash system FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip "
I see that it succeeds in flashing too, but didnt boot up.
Help me to proceed now.

So i've been trying to root my xperia z5 premium. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and then proceeded to following this tutorial ( http://techchomps.com/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z5-premium-e6853/ ) to root my device. It then led me to this tutorial ( http://techchomps.com/how-to-install-a-custom-recovery-on-the-sony-xperia-z5-premium-e6853/ ). I downloaded the stable supersu file and the twrp image ending in 22 and the kernel ending in 4va ( i think flashing this is the cause of my problems). on the page that gives you the link for these files there is another tutorial ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/development/e6853-root-unlocked-bootloader-t3255039 ). which i followed up to the reboot point in step 2. after doing this my phone is now stuck in a bootloop.
How do i fix this?
Does Power - Volume + pressed together for a couple of seconds does something ?
If it turn the phone off, try to flash a firmware via Flashtool, otherwise I don't know :/
Use the Sony software to do a factory reset. It's gotten me out of a couple of bootloop situations with my previous phones (Z and Z3)

So I can still enter recovery but thats it. I continued trying to install supersu but it would still never get past the Sony logo on reboot. I managed to restore previous function using a flashtool and a previous firmware version. I still want my phone to have root access though.. Thanks for your help regardless
same problem here , any answers?
