So i've been trying to root my xperia z5 premium. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and then proceeded to following this tutorial ( http://techchomps.com/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z5-premium-e6853/ ) to root my device. It then led me to this tutorial ( http://techchomps.com/how-to-install-a-custom-recovery-on-the-sony-xperia-z5-premium-e6853/ ). I downloaded the stable supersu file and the twrp image ending in 22 and the kernel ending in 4va ( i think flashing this is the cause of my problems). on the page that gives you the link for these files there is another tutorial ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/development/e6853-root-unlocked-bootloader-t3255039 ). which i followed up to the reboot point in step 2. after doing this my phone is now stuck in a bootloop.
How do i fix this?
Does Power - Volume + pressed together for a couple of seconds does something ?
If it turn the phone off, try to flash a firmware via Flashtool, otherwise I don't know :/
Use the Sony software to do a factory reset. It's gotten me out of a couple of bootloop situations with my previous phones (Z and Z3)

So I can still enter recovery but thats it. I continued trying to install supersu but it would still never get past the Sony logo on reboot. I managed to restore previous function using a flashtool and a previous firmware version. I still want my phone to have root access though.. Thanks for your help regardless

xperia arc boot loop Reflash Stock ROM or your backup.
HI,
Thank you..
I'm sorry I'm still new about these things
I just can't flash it because my back-up is .img file..
And I don't know how to flash .img files..
Thank you again..
I've tried downgrading the kernel into .431 firmware (which is compatible to the theme that I tried)
but still, boot looping..
please help
What I did is that..
1. tried to flash a theme for .431 firmware
2. boot it using CWM v5
3. then, after rebooting the device, boot loop happens
I can't enter CWM on the sony logo (or I am pressing the wrong button)
now I can't flash back to my nandroid back up.. :'(
please help ..

Hi thank you..
I just did the flashing
But still, boot loops ..
I really don't know the problem :'(
Here is what I did to install that theme..
● Copy the .zip to your sdcard
● Boot into CMW
● MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
● Did you make a nandroid backup?
● If not, go away from this thread immediately!
● Flash the .zip
● Clear Dalvik Cache
● Reboot
● For wallpaper, Xperia S lockscreen, deodex/supercharge/LED fix check post #3.
● Enjoy!!!
i really don't know if that clearing that Dalvik Cache caused the problem..
I really don't know
pls help ..
Did you even read the previous posts? These say everything how to fix your phone.
And if you got bootloop, doing it the same way will not make it any better, it will just result the same - bootloop!

How can your nandroid backup be a .IMG file?
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
I print screen how I did the flashing
(and I think I'm doing it wrong)
Flashtool only tells that a device is connected but never stated what model is connected..
After flashing, still ..

dont use CWM v5. reflash to stock firmware, download 'x-parts' from play, and istall cwm with that app and see what happens
Hi (my first post at xda!),
I once had a nasty BootLoop like you have. actually, even worse - at some stage, the phone didn't start at all - AND usb wasn't responding... worst case scenario lol.
Be advised, this will bring you to clean stock unrooted phone.
- What you need to do, is restore the original rom+kernel (stock), using SEUS ("Sony Ericsson Update Service") software (download it).
- You'll need to connect the phone with a special recovery mode enabled, by plugging the usb cable to it while holding The Other Button (Back button) that gives A GREEN led light (this is NOT Fastboot mode that shows BLUE led light).
- After the phone is connected in that manner, simply follow the instructions in SEUS and let it download and flash the original software.
From here, you'll have a factory-new unrooted stock rom+stock kernel device, but you'll probably manage with re-flashing and restoring your Nandroid afterwards.
- Use this as a last resort, as it's what they call "The long way".
Get back to us with the results.
Mike.

It's not a special recovery mode it's the standard flash mode, but this is basically what you've been advised to do on the last page.
I had rooted and installed HD 3.0.2 custom ROM on my son's Sony xperia arc s successfully and it was working well but the adventurist mind set to work and I wanted to try the jelly droid custom ROM.
I went to recovery mode via x tools and did the factory reset and formatting system.
Then I clicked install zip from SD card.it showed that update installed successfully then after around 15 minutes and no further instruction,I rebooted the phone.seems like I missed some step or something which I am not aware of.
now it only shows the Sony screen.I attempted going to the recovery mode pressing the combo keys volume down and power after taking out the battery but nothing transpired.
have I bricked my phone?
Is there any way I could bring it back to life?
would be obliged if anyone could recommend some steps to try and restart the phone.
thanking in anticipation

Did you flash the correct kernel for your phone? Ultimate HD uses stock kernel while the Jelly Droid should be using a custom kernel. You need to have bootloader unlocked to use a custom kernel. CWM does not work after flashing the update package as X tools installs CWM into /system which you just formatted. To be able to use CWM after changing ROM, use a stock or custom kernel that has CWM pre installed on it.

Thanks for your quick reply.it seems I did not flash any kernel or anything else prior to pressing the install from zip.seems a grave mistake on my part.
now that the phone does not even start up what could I do to recover the phone.
I am a complete novice and would request your good self to kindly suggest remedial measures to go back to the stock ROM or HD 3.0.2.The boot loader I think was unlocked before attempting to root the phone.the phone only shows SONY written on it.no turning off even.having to pull the battery to put of the screen.

To recover your phone, use Flashtool and install stock firmware to your phone with a correct FTF file. You can find the FTF file from the forum, just search.
OR if you have locked bootloader, then you can also use PC Companion to repair your phone.
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
Since you have bootloader unlocked, I recommend that you repair your phone using flashtool, since it's a hassle to relock bootloader to use Sony Update Service. After restoring your phone, flash a stock kernel with CWM on it so you can still use CWM after changing ROM. If you want to go back to UHD, Jader recommends LuPuS kernel to use with his ROM.

First of all, calm down , i rarely see arc-s really bricked and not recoverables so ,in this case, the best metod is a thinking mind. Answer my questions.
1° Have you checked your bootloader if it's locked/unlocked or if there is possibility to unlock it ? There are a plenty of guides about it.
2° Please describe how you have installed the rom.
If you have the possibility to reach the recovery , you have to fully format the phone. Factory reset, format system cache and dalvik. Only after that, try to re-flash the rom.

Are you even sure if it's volume up?
Flash mode -> connect phone to PC while holding down back button.
Fastboot mode -> connect phone to PC while holding down menu button.
Enter recovery(if installed) -> hold volume down button when phone boots up.

PC Companion's repair option should work as well, try that one. If you wish to stick to Flashtool, then first make sure you got drivers installed.
I recently got my Xperia M updated into 4.3 JB and rooted it. Since I had my eye on the cm11, I had to unlock the bootloader. So I did everything perfectly as prescribed in the sony developer site. As I unlocked my bootloader, I tried to normally boot it but it is now stuck in a bootloop. I installed CWM by fastboot thinking that it may help. Please help me!!
thats normal... follow steps
1. flash ftf again
2. boot once
3. install cwm
4. flash anything u want

Flash ftf with flashtool, (flash mode is vol down), then install dual recovery. You can use volume up or down to get into recovery, and flash whatever you want.
It seems like my recovery is corrupt, the phone shutdowns after battery ends..,, then i again start the phone and hit vol down button for TWRP but it stucks again at the logo.,.,
While i was flashing the PreRooted firmware there was an error showing MD5 chekcsum not found and when i restarted it ended up on SONY Logo
i believe i have to use Flashtool and flash stock FTF .., !!(loosing all the data)

Normally this would overwrite your other kernel so yes, it would be an option. If your problem really is only related to a faulty kernel then flashing the right one should solve your problems.

I was reading about CyanogenMode, I really liked the Idea So I think that I need to give it a try
I read about flashing and recovery and the features you get when you use a custom ROM
I followed this thread
I saw that the build version is not the same as my T2 'I have 5.1 android version with build ' 19.4.A.0.182'' so I get upset until I reach the page 8 where the author 'abcdjdj' says that he updated the dual recovery img file and it's support the build ' 19.4.A.0.182' without problem
So I get excited, I navigated to Sony website followed the instructions to unlock my boot-loader and everything is OK.
I have successfully unlocked the boot-loader, so I moved to the next step I flashed the custom recovery using the fast-boot 'from android SDK' which has the file name ''TWRP-KK-T2_DUAL-V3.img" then when powering the device on I got to the first screen '.. By android' and 'Sony' stuffs then the device restart and a violet led lighting 'I think this called boot loop'
I've become afraid 'OMG I've just bricked my phone!'
But I remembered that I can access the recovery by pressing the volume-down button by pressing the volume-down button I get to the recovery main screen and everything is OK but I cannot boot to the system
I was thinking that I can now install CM so I do backup using the recovery, then copied the backup file to the SD card and wiped the dalvik cache after doing a simple wipe 'factory reset from the wipe menu in the TWRP recovery'
Then I moved to 'install from a zip file' option and choose the file 'cm-11-20141105-EXPERIMENTAL-tianchi' which I have downloaded from the official site of CM 'from this link' after TWRP finished installing the CM I choose to boot from the system and this is where everything turns into a living hell
My T2 is just stop working and I cannot powering it on again and when I connect it to my notebook nothing happen just nothing just the usb icon in the 'system notification area'!
I wish I could go back to the 'adb' and the blue led step again!
I've tried to press the power button with the volume-down button it worked for just a seconds and then shutting down again
So I repeated this step and then Immediately pressed the volume-up button, I get blue led again and I've confirmed that the fast-boot is still seeing my T2 by writing in the command prompt 'fastboot devices'
Can you please help me? What I can do? Please Is there any hope that I can get my T2 back to life
BTW I'm so sorry for my bad English I'm doing my best to improve it
