I've had HTC devices my whole phone life until I got this phone. When I had the Evo 3D there were bug fixes released before the phone was even released. On this phone, there are major bugs: LOS,wifi signal, cant use phone when charging because of screen being dumb, etc. This is getting really annoying that the phone has been out for a couple of weeks, it has bugs, and Samsung/Sprint aren't rushing to fix their current flag-ship phone.
What do you think is going to happen when ICS comes out? My mom's Epic 4G still has 2.2, that's just sad. Well have ICS when Jellybean is released.
This is probably my first and last Samsung phone.
Lol did u buy the phone for specs?
obviously you didnt research samsungs flaws... (htc has them too)
updates are something samsung/sprint(other carriers aswell) dont like to do in a timely manner
All ths blame cant be put on samsungs shoulders but due to there touchwiz it takes a little bit to tweak the updates (all devices are not the same)
And then sprint has to "approve" the updates/tweaks (in most cases)
I suggest buying a pure google (nexus) phone if you so worried about "OTA updates" or go back to htc phones if u think they get updates faster

Well basically I had an Evo 3D till about 2 weeks ago because it kept having issues, so the manager of the store gave me an Epic 4G Touch because he was tired of seeing me in the store. I'm stuck under contract for 1 year with this phone now.
I had the nexus s 4g and until today with three updates still have the same problem with the signal. The updates are just going to hide the bad radios in samsung phones. Most of them, at least cdma radios. they suck. the nexus s with the first update used to have 40% without signal, with the last update I had 20% but 3g was very spotty and slow so I sold it and I went with the ET4G and bammm, 40% again and LOS that is worst so I took it back. My evo in the same area I have 0% and now with the mopho 0%.

"stuck" isnt a good word to describe your situation. Ive also had the evo 3d (launch day) and the photon.... Sell the phone and do research and test a device out before gou take the plunge.... Not to be a **** but you did it to your self cant blame the multi billion dollar cpmpany that sold you the phone or ths one that manufactures it... (even though they could fix it relatively easy and quickly with the help of sprint)
Test different roms out and look for temporary fixes almost all of your complaints have some sort of fix or work around.... Still to this day my evo has bugs.........its man mads its gonna have flaws

Your name must "speedy0339" because it describes your update expectations.
HTC all your phone life? Aww, he's just a widdle guy wid a wotta rage. Heh, htc is pretty new to the american phone market so you gotta be what, 15?
In seriousness though, I hear you. HTC has made some **** phones (see my sig for an example) but these samsung issues are not minor.
I actually don't think there will be a fix (period) for the wifi or cell signal issues. I just think the radios are plain BAD. As for LOS problem, I think it'll be fixed, but who knows when.
Apple on 10/4 posted customer satisfaction stats as follows:
Customers who answered "VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR PHONE"
Apple: 70% (1st place... of course)
HTC: 49% (2nd place)
Samsung: 28% (4th or 5th place, can't remember)
Seeing that did make me think about htc versus samsung. But theres no real alternative. The nexus prime will also be a samsung phone probably with equally ****ty wifi/cell radios.
i had the evo 4g and had that running very close to perfection... had the evo 3d and had issues that couldn't fix and update didn't fix... i moved to the ET4G best move yet.. still has some issues but definitely an advancement in tek..i luv but couldn't go back to the evo 4g

Really, everyone knows Samsung is always slow with updates, it could be months till we see it fixed, maybe never.
If you had experience with the epic 4g, then you should know what to expect from Samsung already.
I knew this before I got the phone, and yea HTC would have fixed this already.

I figured Samsung would have stepped up their game and hired some more asians. (not being racist, its the truth)
And as for the other guy that said there are fixes for my problems, could you post some links because there are only like 2 roms that i can see.
Actually I turned the roaming setting to "sprint only" and I don't think I had a LOS since now that I think of it.

Hmm, im going ot give this a try
I returned the galaxy over the android os draining the battery glitch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1290020
apparently, Samsung hasn't addressed the issue since the release of the international version in the spring. They seem to have horrible support
I'm willing to wait it our for awhile to see what happens. Not sure how long I'll wait but for now I can find ways around some of the issues and that's fine with me. Kinda in the same boat till this (smartphone) I've always had HTC but I would not get rid of this phone for another HTC at least as of late. If Samsung or Sprint do not roll out updates or fixes I'll just root the phone like I've done with every other phone I've had and be happy with it like I am currently with it being stock.
But the beauty is there's other phones out there
Samsung Galaxy S Dos indeed
My wifi doesn't show full bars all the time but my data speeds are fast... even in parts of my house where I was not able to connect before.
Yeah research would be smart before buying a phone. I like samsung because the hardware is awesome and I don't depend on them for updates...thats what xda is for. I honestly don't get why people get android phones and then don't take advantage of the open source community. The awesome thing about samsung phones is that they are just as easy to take back to stock as they are to root in the first place.

This is flaw statement. Open source community cannot solve factory defects. Did the open source community solve the reception issue with the Nexus S? Nope. It took Samsung/Sprint to release a software upgrade to address it (and it only helps somewhat). Samsung Epic 4g gps? Same thing.

I plan on staying with the epic. I want the keyboard. Also, when we get GB and the cm7 team gets into the main line, the epic will be a solid enough phone to use until hardware platforms have netbook level performance and the software is robust enough to use it. Until that, a new screen or a few more mhz doesn't really get me excited.

The epic is a great phone, and as things progress other phones will replace it... i do think that acs, rob and others have done a great job. Now that they are leaving what does this mean. to me duel cores and full touch wiz or sense 3.x are well worth the next upgrade, especially with the evo 3d. I tried the touch wiz 4.x and its great but not much better then touch wiz 3. I think that by moving the page numbers to the bottom is bad idea, apple may sue over it again (hehe) I hope some one can port a full touch wiz with tw gadgets to the nexus s. I think that the next wave of phones will be faster then home computers....

I haven't gone anywhere. There just really isn't anything new to work with. I might play around with the EE03 again. Maybe do a BYOR edition. If it's gonna be a bit between builds then it might be worth it.
I did go to the Nexus S 4G for about 2 days. Then swapped it out for the Epic. There are a few reasons why but the ones that would concern someone looking to jump ship are as follows. No led indicator (charging, notifications ect), 720x480 MAX for video recording and ONLY in 3gp (There is great debate over whether or not this will get fixed). Also there is very little codec support as well. The Epic will flawlessly play 720p rips in .mkv format the Nexus won't. There are little things like, in a call you can't pull down the notification menu. At least I couldn't.
There are also several pluses to the Nexus. It's a solid piece of hardware. The Curved screen is simply amazing. Very responsive and very clean. The Nexus S 4G is honestly a SWEET phone.
From the Epic it's more of a lateral move and then maybe down a few rungs.
Right now IMO, the Epic is still the top dog. Even after the Evo 3D arrives the Epic will be far from obsolete. I'm looking to the GS II in the future.
Today's moral is "the Epic is NOT dead"

well right now we are top dogs with the evo 4g. But once the duel cores come out then we wont be top dog, even though our phones are plenty great thanks to you and others. I loved the Midnight roms 5.x but the only issue with ext4 was jourling on. Even when it was turned on and wipped and even formating 3x each option i would get randon fc or reboots. I no longer have that phone as it got traded. I trade several times this month between the evo 4g and the epic. I just cant make up my mind. The epic has the better cpu/gpu the evo has the sense 3.x ports and 1gb rom while the epic has 512mb rom.... But i must say the epic wins out mostly because of odin... but one last thing. the round button by the camera.... i think its a reset if bricked just pull the battey for a minute or two, then press it in for a minute then let the unit sit for an hour or two and then try the odin method again... worked on a previous epic.... i may try your midnight 6 but i miss the touch wiz but i may use the beta 4 of touch wiz or go launcher... and it seems to me that adw, launcher pro and go launcher are all the same just with a few tweeks, even the options menu seems the same,...

It is. But we both have the same name...
Definitely sucks as I really like the phone but the service here sucks. I live in South Beach, Miami, Florida which is supposed to have 4G coverage, I haven't seen it once anywhere, in buildings, walking on the streets, etc. 3G is horribly slow plus I barely get it as soon as I walk into any building, my high rise, my work...anywhere. Voice quality is good but let's be honest, at this point data is used more then voice. My T-Mobile mytouch 4g has HSPA+ almost everywhere including my place and even when it switches to 3g it's still 5 times faster then Sprint. I only like the sprint version of the Galaxy S2 with the led notification and the 4.5 inch screen, not to mention unlimited data. I may have to play around with the tmobile version since I am grandfathered into unlimited data but it not having the same cpu blows. I may just wait for the galaxy nexus and lose my unlimited data but I also will lose my sd card slot, I currently have a 16gb card and its almost 100% full so not sure how that will work out. This phone was the only one that checked all the boxes but sprints service was more then disappointing....
take it back and get the galaxy s 2 from t-mobile. i live in pompano beach and like you I dont see much wimax either. but i switched from t-mobile because of the amount of data i use. i can go through 10 gig a month easy. but 3g is ok here. not the best....but ok. good luck with it.
I feel you. I just sold my Epic Touch and went back to my Nexus S. Battery dead in 7 hrs flat just in standby mode due to loss of service issue and battery drain.
Wanted to love this phone so badly, great screen, so light i didn't even feel it in my pocket at all, so great to type on due to massive screen, speaker and general sounds are loud and crisp but if i have no battery juice after 6-7 hrs of standby, imagine if i actually used it for anything. A few custom roms and kernels helped push it to 10-11 hrs but then those made the loss of service more pronounced or worse in some cases.
Shame really, so close to being the perfect phone too.
It is so crazy the different experiences we all have with this phone. I have been running my phone never rooted for 3 weeks now and have not had an LOS yet. Signal has been fine and no problems picking up 4G in my area. 3G sucks no matter what phone you will use on Sprint right now.
As for battery, yesterday I went 15.5 hours off the charger with 4 hours of on-screen time and plugged in with 5% left. That is insanely good compared to any prior Android device I have used.......
this is one of the best phones i have ever had jus had to say that
While it's been an enjoyable run with the E4GT, I'm joining the seemingly growing group of people who are returning/selling their device.
LoS means missing calls from my daughter, who is just getting old enough to call when she wants to say hi and talk to me. I may not care for my ex, but I adore my little girl and want to talk to her every time she wants her papa.
I'd rather deal with the locked down nature of an iOS device that receives calls 100% of the time over than the hardware that I love in the E4GT.
Ugh iOS.....

, just get a photon, Nexus S or an evo3d, there are other great phones out there.
I don't understand why people are having these problems, I'm not having much of any trouble. I had problems with battery at first, but I rooted it to remove bloat and uneeded running apps, with ROM's such as Starburst and other Kernals that help with some battery tweaks. I also have found, that while i'm at school I can just use a data toggler whenever I'm not using 3g, to turn off 3g. This saves an EXTREME amount of battery, as I lasted 3 days without any 3g because I wouldn't be near a charger.
As for LoS, I can't say much as i've never had problems. But Sprint is adding a 4G tower in my city sometime in early '12 so i'm happy with that.
Add another to the list of people looking to sell the ET4G. Im currently weighing some options from people on Craigslist to see what phone Im going to trade for. Reception is terrible on this phone, GPS isnt much better seeing how the phone needs a reboot to get a lock (I use GPS daily). Im currently sitting in my office and I have zero bars and keep getting kicked into roaming. Next to my phone is a coworkers Nexus s and the secretaries Iphone 4s. Nexus has 2 bars, Iphone has 3 of 4.
I really thought this was gonna be the phone of the year but the bugs that plague it kill those hopes. My biggest issue though is no fix release for another month.

I was under the impression Sprint wasnt adding anymore 4g towers anywhere with the switch to LTE. If I were you Id check on that before expecting any new 4G.
well i've been experiencing a few problems nthn major though, yea the data was slow and i would get kicked into roam the first few days i got the phone, but after that it's been super fast. This is a great phone, and with unlimited data makes it even better, this phone will definitely give the galaxy nexus comp(possibly beat it) i love my epic 4g touch(coming from the Motorola Atrix) i really can see myself keeping this phone until my upgrade(2 years from now), my battery life is great and won't have to worry about it dying cause i bought a portable charger(which i highly recommend for heavy users like me that's constantly on the go) but this phone is the best out now and besides ICS, it will beat the galaxy nexus IMO
If it weren't for the price i would def. leave Sprint. Their data speeds suck so bad here in Metro Detroit.

Oh and the Troll factor claims
I have been nothing but disappointed with this phone. If I hadn't bought it though wirefly I would have returned it the first week. I'm not really found of the samsung software, my data speed has really crapped out over the last month, the dropped calls and low signal strength are a real disappointment. This will be my last Samsung phone, I am going back to HTC, they seem to know how to make a phone for business not just to be a toy.

This will be my last Samsung phone, I am going back to HTC, they seem to know how to make a phone for business not just to be a toy.

hmm what would be Samsung Toy factor ?
The reason I ask is because Ive had no issue with device data/LOS/signal etc.
It runs smoother , faster , Better hardware & construction.
Yeah dude, I'd have to agree with you. I had the original EVO 4G and it was a great phone. But after trying the EVO 3D and Thunderbolt (biggest piece a of **** I've ever owned) I'm extremely happy with the hardware. Now if we only get a Sense port...
It's odd that this is the same Samsung that made the og Epic and the Nexus S 4G. When I had the og Epic, I never had any loss of service issue of any sort and battery life was decent. Nexus S 4G (current device) only issue is a bum radio and low sounds/speaker volume generally, but definitely nothing in the realm of the Epic Touch's loss of service and or Android OS battery draining wifi bug.
What irritated me the other day about the Epic Touch was I left home fully charged at 5am, and by shift end at 3pm I was at 20%, never had a chance to even use phone for calls/SMS, web, nothing, and this is smack in the middle of NYC with bars of service. Come to realize phone had gone into a loss of service whatever and was stuck there (crossed circle). So all day i had missed important calls, SMS, emails e.t.c., cause after a reboot they all came flooding in.
Thank God I wasn't job hunting and expecting a call back or something that important.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
It's frustrating, I am almost looking for reasons to keep it, however I am now using my mytouch 4g which is a year old and never was a standout phone and I am getting download speeds of 5mbps....i dont think I ever saw over 500k on the on the epic, most around 150k
I feel like the rest of you. Putting out a great phone like the Galaxy S2 on Sprint is like putting candy sprinkles on a turd.

I currently own a T-Mobile G2x and plan on picking this baby up in a few days from the playstore.
A friend of mine showed me his and I completely fell in love with the screen. I'm also hopeful about the updates being pushed by Google for another year or so.
With that said, is this phone still worth getting with other devices already out like the ONE series and Samsung's S3?
I was intially going to purchase a HTC One S, but can't bring myself to do such a big gamble because of all the hardware and software issues I've read about.
for all that is holy and right, god yes.
i could ramble on what rocks about this phone, but ill keep it small.
its a nexus, so direct updates from google. Large dev community. freaking beautiful screen and physical phone dimensions. oh did i mention kick ass software and dev community
i came from the sprint epic 4g and they were doin some crazy stuff with that phone. with the nexus, i hope to see some awesome stuff.
again so much to put into words. the nexus is worth every cent
I got mine yesterday. Short and sweet, yes!!

I'm a former G2x owner, and the Galaxy Nexus blows the G2x away in every aspect. Not only that, it's hell of a lot more stable.
Do it. It's totally worth it.

Its two issues that keep this or any nexus phone on top
1- direct (fast & unbloated/restrected) updates
2- a huge development base (other phones may have big dev bases, but they cant even compare)

Of course it's still worth buying. This is still the best Android phone out there. Galaxy S3 and One X may both be faster, but if you're a casual developer or tech guy, then Galaxy Nexus is the best you can get in terms of software.
Quad-core is overrated on phones and I don't like Galaxy S3's hardware decisions (the hardware keys). Galaxy Nexus has on-screen keys, which are just amazing, I could not go back to a phone without them. I don't like the bells and whistles of Galaxy S3 and One X either (which won't be a problem if you root of course). Their usability features are an overkill and don't work at all times.
Since Galaxy Nexus does come with the best version of Android - native, non-bloated one - and has very good hardware to run anything you throw at it today, then yes, it's the phone to get and the one I've suggested to fellow developers. One of the young developers I know bought it just last week and is loving it.
As everyone else had already mentioned, yes, do it - you won't regret it. I've had mine only a month now and it's freaking amazing. Fast and unbloated, beautiful screen, effortless to root, great battery life.
Best of all we will be first to get jellybean, my friend with the sgs 3 will be on ics until sometime next year. Hehe.

I would say no, if i were to start over this minute... I would get a Razor Maxx over this.
I think a new phone of this caliber and price range should ROCK right out the gate and that the modding community should only (need to) make it even better... in this case it takes the modding to make it close to right with still spotty reception and CRAPPY battery life.
Is the screen beautiful... is the phone fast and with rooting and a lot of extra software does it get the job done? Yes.
But so does the RMaxx without the radio issues and it has boat loads of battery.
I would much rather have a few less bells and whistles of a newer OS and have battery life & radio reliability. I feel the bells and whistles are a lot easier to add on later than the other way around.
I like the phone... don't flame me please... but it has shortcomings
I get excellent battery life... i have never had any issues with the radio either.

Ahh you have the LTE version huh? Quite a few people seem not so happy with that one. However the GSM doesn't have as many issues as the LTE seems to..
I would say do it as well man. It's a much much better device than the G2x and you'll really enjoy it.

Personally, I wouldn't get the Motorola. I'm a developer, and it's giving us a ridiculous amount of trouble when compared to the GS2 or the Nexus.
The nexus is a great terminal, and since they lowered the prices it's hard to beat in the quality/cost ratio.

As you'll see, a vast majority of the people saying "don't get it" are those with the Verizon LTE version.
To be blunt, the CDMA version of any nexus is going to be an afterthought.
Moreover, LTE is a battery-drain in comparison to UMTS/HSPA+.
If you get the Galaxy Nexus, get the HSPA+ one from the Google Play Store.
I currently have the LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus. Does my battery tend to get drained fast? Yea, although most of the time it's not an issue, I work in an office where I get to keep it plugged in most of the time. If I am planning on being out all day I always keep an extra battery, it's really not that difficult to carry one.
Does my signal tend to suck? Yea, sort of. I hardly ever make calls so I can't really notice there, although I do tend to get a lot of dropped calls but i never know which side they are coming from. My data is amazingly fast when it works right but too many times it says 4G but nothing is going on, so I have to turn the data off and back on to get it working again.
With all that said, I've had this phone since December and I still absolutely LOVE this phone! I still look at the screen and think "wow that's cool". I still show it off to people, I still love using it to pay with Google Wallet.
However, I have recently decided to get rid of it. I will be giving it to my friend, because I just ordered the GSM one from the Google Play store! I'm so sick and tired of Verizon so I want to try the whole prepaid services thing till I find something that works best for me with a service that doesn't treat me like I'm trying to steal from them because I have the unlimited data package THEY gladly offered me years ago. What ever happened to treating older customers better??
There are a few of us that jumped ship from the G2x here now, I don't think we made the wrong choice.
Plus we'll be getting Jelly Bean soon!
Just like you, I think the screen got me. That and stable ICS. I loved my G2x but after hanging around my friends with 4.3 or 4.5inch screens... I felt... inadequate...
Haha, just kidding, but I did want a bigger screen. I'm really happy with this phone now and I think I will be for a while.

Software keys to me are a waste of screen real estate. There is no advantage to having them. I remove them and use LMT because I want the extra screen space. Using LMT is not as quick as having the buttons there but worth the sacrifice.
The GNEX has the space at the bottom of the device to fit keys there and I wish they would have or added them as well and given the choice to use on which one we want to use.
Hello,
So I have 3 Samsung Galaxy S 3's and two of them are for Verizon and one for T-mobile... I have had nothing but issues with one of my Verizon models and my T-mobile is no better... So I sent it in to Samsung for repair and I noted that I had several different problems, such as screen flickering, home button sticking, power button falling off and random reboots. They received my phone yesterday and now today they claim that it is fixed and it says this in my notes " SOLUTION: Replaced Component - Replaced Cosmetic" and now they are sending it back, which is a great turnaround time but no one can tell me what they actually replaced or repaired??? I have made 4 calls and not one person can tell me what was done to the phone. I used to work for Nextel (before Sprint scooped em up) and I was a lead technician for them and whenever we repaired a phone or replaced a phone we always wrote down EXACTLY what was done and what parts were used to complete the task. I am going through some of the same issues with one of my Verizon units as well and keep getting garbage ass refurbs that solve one problem but add another... I am not trying to nitpick but I paid FULL price for ALL of my phones so that I could keep unlimited and I am going crazy cause I don't want another defective phone from Samsung... What do you guys think was done or what do they usually do (refurbish them)?? I am just hating Samsung right now so I had to vent and get some comments and opinions.... This is my first experience with sending ANY product in for warranty work as I usually have a local authorized facility close to me or Verizon has just kept on sending me there good ol "Certified Like-new refurbs" that they claim to go through a 100 point inspection check.... LMAO! Ya okay.... Then why is it that I have already received 2 bad refurbs from them if they are so "Certified"... It's too bad cause I just want a working S3 in my hands. :crying::fingers-crossed:
I honestly have no problems with my phone. I've heard some people complain about issues. But three phones with two replacements all having issues. I have to wonder if you are even for real.
That been said. It beats the hell out of me what Samsung would do. How you get it resolved. Personally I love my sgs3. And most IPhone owners who try it are wowed by it. Especially now with iOS6.

I do have one of my 3 that works FLAWLESSLY but I have had bad luck on the other two.... I love the S3 and would NEVER go back to IOS but I am just tired of getting defective replacements.... I am just looking to see what others have been through with Samsung repairing their phones.... I see your an old timer too! Damn 2006.... I don't ever think I have seen someone who has been a member since 2006 but with only 10 posts... I have to wonder if you are for real?? lol

Dude that sucks you got defective devices and it sucks the technicians can't tell you what was changed in my experience with Sony they have noted out sometimes what was wrong but not all the time, HP let's you know what was changed which is great (they have a website) i haven't deal with Samsung before but if their like HTC they will probably sent you reburshed unit, that been said I have never had problems with those units work like new to me, and never had any physical damage, good luck to you and hopefully just like Samsung is getting better at releasing phones they can fix their tech department as well

Ya I guess I am just a lil paranoid cause of my bad luck lately but I will just cross my fingers that I have a good working phone.... The power buttons are terrible on these phones it seems... They are firm once you get them then they slowly start to get REALLY loose and one of mine got to the point where it actually popped out... It is about the size of a grain of rice and I have yet to find it... LOL For the most part I don't regret any of my purchases I just think someone has to get the lemons and it might as well be me right....
They give a more detailed note on what they replaced in the receipt you get when the phone is returned to you, granted it's not much detail, but yeah.
And if it returns and it's still messed up, go to Verizon and T-Mobile and demand to see the manager, tell them the situation and asked them what they could do.

Sounds like a good idea! Some of the problems were intermittent so I find it hard for them to just see it for 30 minutes and ship it back out unless they just replaced everything except the main board...? Yeah, actually got my Galaxy S II and Nexus S serviced not too long ago.
The NS took about 3 weeks to get back to me, from the time I sent it in the to the time I got it back.
Everything was in great working condition, and I believe they replaced a lot of the phone.
The original problem was my lock button didn't work anymore.
I only realized they replaced more than just the lock button because my screen looked brand new as well as the outer part, there were no scratches or dents, when I had a few on it before.
My Galaxy S II took about 5-7 days to get back to me from the time I sent it in to the time I got it back.
I did request for the repair to be expedited as it was a gift for my girlfriend and needed it before a certain day.
They did a great job at helping me and getting my request through.
But I'll give you this, they are horrible at knowing what's going on with the phone, their status updates are pretty lame.

Don't try going to a T-Mobile store to get a phone replaced if it is passed 30 days in California or 14 in other states. I've been a T-Mo rep for many years and I could think of maybe 2 situations in 5 years where I have seen someone get a new phone replaced after 30 days in store (This is from experience working 4 districts in SoCal/LA area and 1 in Norcal).
I wish you luck with the Samsung repairs though. Hopefully they actually did more than little cosmetic repairs to your phone and actually fixed it.
maybe they saw the bezel hitting the button causing the home button to not function properly. That sucks that you had to send them directly to samsung, i love my tmo plan with insurance! Any problems, and the next day i have a new phone. And before people start crying that they are refurbished, i really could care less, as long as it works like it should im happy.

http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/ht...ice-cream-sandwich-works-android-4-ics-28378/
The story behind the HTC Droid Incredible 2 and its Ice Cream Sandwich update that never came is quite long and full of pushbacks and angry letters. In case you’ve followed us during the past few months, you should already be aware of how things unfolded thus far. In a nutshell, the Incredible 2 was supposed to receive the Android 4.0 update, alongside the HTC Thunderbolt, by the end of August. That obviously didn’t happen and the roll-out has been pushed back indefinitely.
Better Link (Not sure how I missed this on the DL)
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/2...ible-2-owners-waiting-for-ice-cream-sandwich/
So you could say our ice cream is still being "churned"? Or is it still being agitated?
I like how the article says they are having connectivity problems with the update. Don't they read this forum? We had the same issue with the leak...but all of the other ROMS work. Why can't they figure out what the Devs did here and incorporate it...?
I do hate to be a Negative-Nancy, but I call B.S.
It's like the cheating BF/GF. Lies don't stop. It is a habit of misleading. Key word is habit.
This subject is a very sore one for me. I think ALL Android should be open source. I thought that was the point, and what made Android better than the rest.
What it comes down to is, I will believe it when I see it.
Though this did rile me up again enough that I will be writing to HTC again. Probably at least, but not only on their Facebook page.
As always, I encourage you to do the same. Squeeky wheel gets the grease, y'know.
I do think it's worth it to prod HTC - not in a malicious way, but nicely so they know we're waiting.
I also think it's worth waiting for them to finish the job.

Nice? Really? Nice should have been out the window the moment they passed their already ridiculously late deadline. ICS came out over a year ago and those clowns are still "working on it"? HTC clearly doesn't care about their customers so I don't see how politely asking them to do something is going to amount to anything I am glad they're experiencing record losses I'll never buy another one of their products. It's easier to pass the buck than it is to actually care about your customers and put in some work this update will never be released because neither party really cares.
ICS
I think that as soon as the "connectivity issues" (WiFi Tether Lockdown) are finally coded in we will see ICS for the DInc II.
That's what we got with the Spectrum.
It's more for the grandfathered unlimited customers, motivation to switch to the "Gimi What You Got", VomitRizen shakedown.
Ever since the "Paid Off" FCC allowed these cheeswads to fleece the public with tiered data plans they are chocking us on it...
It is probably a better deal for those who yak for hours and text up the **s.
But for me, the $60.00 a month increase for my 5 family members to have emergency communication, is just plain cruel.
As much as it hurts, I will have to kick out the lines one at a time.
Thanks Big Reda.
"We don't have any timing specifics right now, Chris. We'll let you know once we learn more!", was the response I got from an inquiry on their FB page.
Same thing they've been saying since the end of August.
And if phone companies (HTC, Samsung, lg, etc) would stop releasing a new phone every 3 months when most people are on 2 year contracts and update the phones that people still use we wouldn't be hear. The galaxy note 2 is already out and it feels like the note 1 JUST came out. That's a bit ridiculous in my opinion lol. My friend had his og droid only 2 years ago..and think of all the android phones since then.

That's how profit is made tho. Releasing a newer phone to get people to jump to the latest and greatest so that's why they tue them down to a 2 year because slot of people just wanna be on the greatest I know a lot switching from the s3 to dna or note 2 its all based on making money

Sounds good in theory to only release a new phone every 2 years but not everyone's contracts begin and end at the same time. Also like the post above me mentioned some people are willing to shell out for the latest and greatest, and others might just have monthly plans.
ETF and grandfathered unlimited is enough for me to stick with my phone for a while though

apple manages to do it. they might not wait 2 years for every phone but they literally only have the One line of phones and keep them all updated, and still make a ton of money. >.> albeit i'm not an apple fan at all. just stating the obvious here.
This is why I'm not going for an HTC phone ever again. This is obviously a publicity stunt pulled off only by HTC.

Nah, i believe that issues did come up. I like my HTC phone to much to leave HTC over a delayed update that i don't even care about.

Issues caused by all their bloatware, no doubt. So what if Let's Golf! isn't Sense 3.6 compatible? (assuming that's what our build's base will be)

Waiting for an official ICS (and JB) upgrade is even more necessary in India. We are all using grey imports. Furthermore, for AlphaRevX or Revolutionary based roots (as most of us have), going back to Froyo and unrooting before doing a bootloader unlock, and then climbing back up to the CMs is not at all attractive.
