I have a rooted HTC Wildfire with Cyanogenmod 7 installed on there, but I want to know if I can install Sense 2.2 instead? I prefer the stock keyboard and messaging app.
Will I still be rooted and be able to move all apps to the SD card? and uninstall factory apps?
Sorry if it's a stupid question
Thanks in advance

For the rooted ROM it says No Hboot | No Radio, what does that mean?

No Hboot means it does not overwrite your current Hboot unlike some OTA updates.
No Radio means it does not flash a new radio into your phone and you still retain the current radio that you're using.

I Installed the Rom from recovery, but all I get is the HTC logo and the startup tone then it switches off and I get the same thing again. Help please!
Edit: It's working now but I cannot force move apps like I could do before. Why is that?

If I flash the stock Froyo ROM, will I have normal rooted android 2.2 ?
What are the benefits of it?
Isn't it back to the origin stock?

Yes, it will be rooted stock android 2.2. Benefits - Well, there are a lot of people who don't like CM7, and prefer the stock ROM over CM. This is their way out of it.

but remember, you wont be able to use any apps that require root access, as the latest GB rom from HTC hasn't been rooted, so BEWARE!!!!!!!
if you need, you can go for any GB ROM from here, which provide you full access to root & superuser, etc.
Try using visionary

Anyone is working on rooting 1.72 WITHOUT downgrade?
At least just clean root without s-off.
greets
Appearantly it is really wel secured since this ROM was released december and it is still not rooted. Best option so far is to downgrade and root. I haven't found any reference to a possible successful root of the 1.72 firmware. I am also unable to find any status/update on this subject...
If anyone knows more it would be appreciated!
u can do the g-free temp root/ s-off and fastboot load cwm and zing, no downgrade needed
how?
ps. obviously we are talkng about permament root

easy.
i do all this and the fastboot flash cwm, once u get S-off u can flash a recovery one, u just wont have root on stock rom. so u must flash a rom.

I recently received a replacement G2 with the 1.72 firmware(with wifi calling) so it had the Dec. update installed, and was able to root just as easily as I did back in Oct. Just follwed "blackprince310"'s method, and it worked like a charm.Again.

wheeliest - you've flashed a new rom so it has the same disadvantages as downgrading.

Loosing the original rom? Which is good enough and needs only a few hacks.
Loosing all the settings and apps? Reinstalling 300 apps and setting them is the pain in the %$%.
Potentially dangerous process with goldcard?
So what for downgrading if one needs only the access to the system files and run some apps like adfree or dsp manager.
have you used cm7? because stock rom is garbage compared to it..

Use some logic...the RUU file is an .exe, which is a Windows program. This would mean you have to run it on Windows. Then you'd be presented with instructions for the rest. Use a little common sense
why not try another custom rom . it's great fun

As above - it actually has full instructions while running the RUU.
but for basics you click something like 'I agree to return my phone back to the stock image, and confirm that I know it will wipe all user data etc. etc'
Then click accept to 'I agree that it must be above 50% battery life, and connected to the PC via USB cable' - then I think it verifies that it can find the phone, then says something about it will replace the current image with the stock image (2.29.405.5), then basically just says wait a couple of minutes, your phone reboots and flashes for a few minutes (I think with a big HTC logo and a progress bar), then when it's done it says DONE! and your phone reboots into the welcome wizard as if you turned it on for the first time...

update is just poor english - it means replace. - it'd also wipe the root etc.
But glad you got it working the easy way by just flashing a froyo over the gingerbread.
After trying several different ROMs (mainly Sense 1.9 up to 3.5) and 3 different memory cards I am still having reliability problems with my Desire. The main problem is now and again I press the wake button and nothing. The power button doesnt even work I have to take the battery out and reset.
I also get a fair bit of lag, especially with incoming calls, even after having a play with Daemon Controller settings.
I can just about live with it but as I am likely to want to sell the phone soon i was wondering if anyone could recommend the most solid ROM. Preferably one that doesn't use an EXT3/4 partition as it could possibly be running apps from this that's causing the problem. I'm not bothered about Sense either.
I am currently running AceSMod007 v42, Recovery 4EXT v2.2.7 RC6, Stock HBoot.
The easier it is to install the better and even if its vanilla android I'm not bothered. I just don't want any comebacks when I sell it as the phone has caused me enough headaches.
ps Is a new battery likely to help or is that clutching at straws?
Put it back to stock like it used to be. That will eliminate or at least lessen the possibility of buyer comebacks caused by buggy custom roms. If the buyer wants it rooted, he/she should do it themselves.
How do you do that exactly?

I haven't done it personally but I believe you can flash it over as long as the phone is on stock hboot which I think it is. If you are s-off, you may need to flash a downgrader from alpharev. (Can anyone confirm this is required for stock hboot? I had the impression it's only for cm7r2 and oxygen hboots.)
You'll lose root and s-off (if you s-offed your device before). Make sure you chose the right RUU for your phone.

Only r2 hboots.
I think I might have to give it a try as my phone is very unreliable now as it keeps just switching off and won't reset unless I pull the battery. Happens about once a day.
Do I flash it through recovery as usual?
Also, if you want a solid rom, you can't get much more solid than Cyanogenmod. It's actually more stable than the stock rom for my part. Another option is MIUI, but the iPhone-like interface might be a bother.
Thanks, do you mean CyanogenMod-7 for Desire GSM V7.0.3 rom as the download link was broken when I checked?

Possibly not for another 6-8 weeks so I don't fancy returning to Stock and still having problems and having to mess about getting it S-Off and rooted again.
And to be fair if it wasn't randomly switching itself off I might consider hanging on to it longer as when it works properly its a pretty decent phone, I just cant live with the unreliablility.
So has anyone got a link for the CM Rom?

There's no option to simply recover the phone, basically I want an official software so when I just want to go back to my stock ROM I just one-click it and it restores it from their own databse online (the latest available build).
That's a great Sony Ericsson feature. Too bad HTC Sync doesn't have that, or maybe I just can't find it.

No. Rooting doesn't necessarily involve flashing a new ROM. You can keep it stock. After you downgrade/root, you can flash the official Gingerbread ROM, which is exactly the same as you have now, just rooted and with bloatware removed.
Can you please point me some directions to that official Gingerbread ROM then? It's really hard to find something legit.
