You can download Astro file manager, in the settings is an option to enable browser to download any file type. Check that box , should be good

Ok, you want to download the one click CWM on your PC. Then once its downloaded, open the file, double click on "run" it will open a small rectangular black box. Then plug your phone in and it should say "press any key to start." Let it run its course and it should reboot your phone and if it works properly, you will have "Superuser" app in your app drawer.

It's a known issue that antivirus programs sometimes consider a file in there malware. You may want to try temporarily disabling it.
Disable your anti virus.

That my device doesent allow non supported apps. I click allow, it takes me to settings and I click allow unknown sources and then it does that all over again as if I never allowed unknown sources. Enabling unknown sources isn't sticking for some reason.

I'm guessing it was the file managers I was using. Totally made me feel like a noob lol. I was trying with astro and oi file manager. Tried ES file explorer and it worked. My grandmother was flipping out that I rooted her kindle and hulu wouldn't play lol.

Whenever I try to install a zip (its happened with several, but mainly SetCPU) I get the message "Installation Aborted" without apparent reason. How can i fix this?
Probably error in updater-script. Did you download it from thread for another phone (samsung, htc,lg...)?

That zip file is not flashable from recovery. Unpack that file on pc woth winrar/winzip/7z and you'll get apk that you need to install. Copy it to sdcard and use any file manager to install it (i recommend total commander - free from market)
