OK so I'm done with poor battery performance on my rooted stock rom evo.
I have tried elite 3: Bluetooth wouldn't work and some market apps wouldn't install and various other things were buggy. Liked the battery and feel though.
CM7 was OK but I use groups for my dialer too much so that was out.
So I'm looking for a good battery sense rom were things work. Netflicks, GPS, 4g... well all of it really.
I'm thankful for the developer's work but isn't there a rom that just works without all the little buggers at this point? I don't care about boot animations if I can't use the phone as its built.
Yeah I'm *****in but still.
Any thoughts?

Flame away I guess. Ill keep plugging this thing in and wishing for the unreasonable.
I really liked elite3 a lot. But like I see in so many posts about every rom I had to go. Don't developers get that?
Its kinda like getting great looking motorcycle that's fun on the weekends but can't really rely on to go to work.

Try Dr. Ryder's Eternal Prophency v5.9 or Calkulin's EVIO 2 v1.8 with the 150mV undervolt if your phone can handle it. Both are low on theming with above average battery life with everything working.
Try anything gingersense or gingerbread, you notice a significant battery improvement. Only thing Netflix don't work with gingersense but im sure we'll see something pretty soon about that.
Also turn off your mobile data when your not using your phone, Or find an app that turns it off when while the phone sleeps. That'll help too.
I second that on eternal prophecy too, if you need to stay on froyo.
Seriously man, just look at the star rating next to the ROM and start flashing and figure it out yourself. I'm sure you can read a list of what works and what doesn't on any ROM. If you didn't like ES3 or Cyanogen, you may be a bit picky and should probably download dsixda's htc kitchen and bless us with your perfection.
Done preaching, I have run SalvageMod 1.2.1 for a month straight without any problems and I demand more out of my phone than 99% of the people on XDA. If you don't like the AOSP dialer, download a different one from the market.
Salamander. (Alaman I had to leave this auto correct cause it makes me laugh)
Anyway. Yes I'm picky so get over it. I checked the market and tried some things. Not to my liking.
Regardless I just had to post. I can see star ratings just fine. That's why I tried a couple of roms. I had an og Droid with cm6 and that was neat. Still like that phone too.
There is nothing wrong with me asking for what I'm looking for.

Calkulin's Evio 1.8 won't let you down if you want full function from 2.2 and sense
salamander is cool, I got alaman from a misspelling
You know something alaman. Why did you even bother? That's exactly the reason I haven't posted before because I do read. For a couple months now and tried some things.
If you want me to bless you how this... suck it hard baby.
I specifically posted my thoughts and what I'm looking for and didn't slight anyone. Simple criticism is all. I love design and neato stuff these guys do. I see potential in it and desire more. Why not? HTC built sense to make android better for whatever market they saw fit. Fine and dandy. I like to use my dang ol evo they way I want and would like to see these things happen.
If my post bothers you and you are complaisant with your phone then go on dude. Ya prick.

I have been running Elite III since it was released and never experienced any issues. Apps have always installed. Bluetooth is flawless. I use bluetooth heavily as I connect to both my car stereo and my computer. Really haven't had any issues with it at all. I love it.
I re-rooted my phone and am using the latest stock rom. I'm getting really good battery life. I can go all day on a charge with normal use. I turn my 3G off when not using it. That's all.
Have you done the battery calibration? It's a pain in the ass but I would swear by it. It's a loooong one time process but worked great for me.

Htc evo rom virus rom
if you want a rom thats amazing for the HTC Evo try Virus Roms there the best i think
my favorite as of now is VR Kingdom and its got 4G and Sense 3.0 with is amazing battery life is good to an extent depends on what your doing at the time but keep in mind the rom is huge like 350MB+ but you wont regret flashing
so does anyone have any idea
ive seen Urban Decay and Random ROM 2.3 HAWK
and im wonder which is better of the 2 and is there a ROM that you consider better than those 2 please let me know
THANKS
Well, every ROM runs a little different on each of our Epics. If you want a good Gingerbread leak ROM, use one that has either Deca's or Crawrj's newly DeOdexed stock ROM as its base. Be kind guys, he only has 19 posts.

Just remember that EVERY phone is different so asking "what is the best ROM" is relative only to that user's experience. Some phones seem to not like custom ROMs at all and sometimes it is the user and then they complain about their problems. The easy answer is read up on the positives and negatives of a few and try one. The best thing is that there is tons of good people here willing to help if you run into trouble or a few Force Closes.

Good suggestions but just to clarify, you can't use TheImpaler's keyboard patch on Gingerbread ROMs like Random Hawk. The keyboard fix will come when the official comes out and we get source. Most of the Froyo EC05 ROMs have it baked in though

AHH forgot about that. thanks a lot for that clarification. At least from that provided link, OP can install the speed demon one because from what i remember, EC05 ROMs come with the default keyboard patch in them. At least it'll help him out in that sense? As far as the rotation lag fix goes, i know that Random Hawk has it already, but for some people it doesn't work, same with ERA's rom.
I really like the RandomKing HAWK so far.
I am pretty new to ROMS and really like this one.. not close to the highest quadrant scores, but feels the fastest and most stable to me.
I have ran EB13 VIPER 5.0, EC05 ACS Frozen 1.2 and now the RandomKing HAWK v.2.
Right now I have RandomKing with his included Chris14g kernel, EG22 modem, Supercharged v6 script, option 9, CPU is overclocked to 1.2Ghz, journaling is turned off.
Only had it a couple days, so we will see.

I have to agree with you there. If Quadrant benchmarks are your thing, Urban Decay flies.I get 3200+ marks at 1.2 with Tegrak. On Froyo..what Zander said. ERA ReVolt Revolution yields the highest Smartbench scores on a consistent basis. Its the only ROM other than Urban Regen that gives me 1600+ CPU marks and it does almost every time. It is fast!

ROM Ho
Once I started flashing I just couldn't stop...I did learn that after 20 flashes, the Amazon App Market stops letting you log in because each time you flash it captures it as a new device in your profile. To fix that just log into Amazon and delete the old/invalid entries.
Here are the ROMS I have had the privilege to try:
SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1
Urban Regeneration
Swiss Cheese Samsprint
EF02 Leak (stockish)
EG22 Leak (stockish)
Urban Inception
midNIGHT ROM
ACS Go Green
ERA Olympus (artist formermly know as Unamed)
ERA EpicuReAn SCrAMbLED EGgs22
RandomROM Hawk v2
Many people have already stated this, but it is really about personal preference as far as what will work best for you. There have been some ROMS that just did not play nice with my phone, but I am sure this is a phone by phone thing as well. My favorites by far are CK's Urban series and the RandomROM Hawk. I have ran with Hawk the longest (previously Osprey) and I have loved it. Although, I still miss my sexy Urban ROM at times. What it boiled down to for me was saving battery and RandomROM excels at this. Being unable to post on the development board, I do want to thank all of the devs who invest their personal time (especially those that don't even own an Epic anymore or work for the competition) to make our phones kick a$$. Thank You All!
I need a ROM that fulfills the following reqs:
Stable: Must be stable as this is for a non techie so... yeah
Fast: Better performance then the original ROM
Good battery life: This is a MUST
Clean: No crapware preinstalled
And preferably gingerbread although if froyo is better...
Thanks guys
For the best battery life and speed it will need to be froyo since devs don't have GB source to work with. I always like the Bonsai froyo ROMs. Google Bonsai android for their site. I am currently using Hurricane 1.6 Gingerbread Rom but you have to do some tricks to make it stable and keep it from rebooting randomly.

Yeah... That wont work.I need something that wont crash if you give it 8 espresso shots and wait a few hours.
So i need something stable.
Stick with froyo if you want the best chance at stability. Syndicate rom frozen 1.2 has always been old trusty for me and a lot of others. Be sure to flash a kernel immediately after the rom, as it does not include one. Urban regeneration is another good choice. You almost can't go wrong with any of the great froyo roms at this point. As kenny said, there are ways to make gb roms run fairly stable, but it takes a lot of effort.

Well, since he didn't want to shill his own rom.. i'll sing it's praises.. randomrom phoenix 2.2 is awesome. super snappy, no freezes or crashing and does above average on battery life.
Simply AOSP 4.01 is also super fast, and very slimmed down. There are a decent number of options for Froyo roms that you should be happy with..
SRF 1.2 is my "trusty old axe" too... I like Twilight Zone kernel. Isn't there a fix out for the SU Binary issue with Genocide 2.0? I haven't tried it yet.

I have spent the past week trying out several gingerbread ROMs trying to find one that I'd stable enough for daily use. The most impressive one I used was ASC Bamboozled v1.1. It was super quick and had some cool animations like the TV animation when you turned it off. I would like something kinda of like that. I know that the gingerbread ROMs have a reboot issue and that doesn't bother me too much. It is a slight annoyance but not a deal breaker. With the source of gingerbread from Samsung floating around I was wondering if there were any stable ROMs yet.

Of all the GB roms, Thunderhawk has been the most stable for me.
Hands down acs ics. Its super stable and fast and its ics themed. cyanogen is also great if you don't mind losing 4g and video. Although battery on both roms are fantastic. I get about 18 hours average on acs and about 23 on cyanogen. And thats with a stock battery with moderate use. Ive been switching back and forth for a while now. But been running acs as my default rom. I havent had one problem with it at all. No reboots, lags, gps lock issues, or things of that sort.

Here's the thing about 'stability'. All the GB roms look wonderful out of the gate and perform flawlessly for 3-4 days and then start to disintegrate, act out, cause FCs and freezes. If you want serious stability, you need to use a Froyo rom. If you don't mind a few inconveniences, CM7 is the way to go. It is the most stable of the GB roms and many phone owners are very excited about its possiblities down the road. Honestly, I work in a hi-rise in San Francisco and I don't even miss the 4G, the phone is that fast. The battery life alone is worth the call sound and video issues which are minor at best. IMHO.
everyones phone is different
some people have issues with cm7 and acs ics, and some people dont. so best idea is test drive both roms, to see have your phone acts it them. and with the video issue there are other players in the both markets that can help with that. and with cm7 its just plug and play no extra steps to get it to work and with acs ics there other things you have to do to get it to rite.
ACS ICS seems to be pretty good so far. No major concerns to this point, albeit early stages of testing.

Don't you know not to invest in something for features it may have one day... that's what got us into trouble with the Epic 4G in the first place (6 month late Froyo, endlessly delayed Gingerbread, TV Out, FM radio...)!
Anyways, whenever someone asks "what's the best rom?", you'll always get very biased responses. You'll generally hear cries of "ACS!" and "Cyanogen!". While the acclaim is generally deserved, my own testing hasn't yet shown anything too fantastic in their current GB versions. ACS ICS has a somewhat glitchy launcher, but if you like it have at it. CM7 did not have anything special I could find, nor did it perform to my typical battery standards.
Try them all out, each has their own merits and each phone performs differently with different roms. Don't forget the others like Hurricane or Urban.
Or you can just follow the crowd .
When I came to XDA, I read the threads under each ROM to see what the features were and what problems people were having. People coming here now are too damn lazy to do this and want us to tell them exactly what to put on their phone. I would lke nobody to answer threads on "what's the best ROM" and maybe people will stop being lazy and read.
If everyone liked the same thing there would be only 1 rom. Read like kenny and random suggested. Find the one with the most features that you personally need or want. I try just about every rom on here and always find my way back to thunderhawk. It just has the best mix of all the features I need working.

Just wondering what everyone else likes for a rom. Feel free to tell us your likes or dislikes with your current rom. With the choices we have available to us on this device, I'm sure some are wondering which rom is right for them.... this poll should give people some kind of direction.
EDIT: I must apologize. I must of been tired to miss putting viperROM on the poll list. Don't suppose there is a way to edit that poll is there?
I'm loving Starburst and glad I finally budged out of my curmudgeonly ways off of stock as I wait for CM. It's very full featured and allows tweaking without turning into a theme-fest. I was very surprised with it.

To be honest, and maybe this means I'm a ****, but when I read about people having all kinds of problems with a rom or a kernel or a mod or anything my first thought is automatically "they probably fncked something up."
A vast majority of the times this is, in fact, the problem. I'm on my 8th? 9th? Android device. I hack 'em up to pieces. I try to be a good boy and read everything thoroughly...but I don't. I skim for the important bits. If I screw something up it's usually pretty obvious, then I fix it, then it works. I have never actually had a ROM that has destroyed my battery life (I have with experimental kernels, but, to be expected), I have never lost 3G function, I have never gotten unfixable bootloops, I have never killed my wifi or 4G to where a full wipe and reflash didn't bring it back...never. For years now I have been hearing some wild problems from people and never actually experienced any of them for myself in a way that wasn't fixable, by myself.
I have gotten better battery life, faster internet, working youtube, faster wifi (the 'wifi n' mod on Evo4G), etc etc etc.
I don't know, I'm always skeptical of people claiming a rom or kernel are screwing things up when there are other people with no problems at all.
Alpha and Beta roms notwithstanding, lol
viper for some reason not on here..
but anyway, my vote is for viper. Need to try Calkulin more though

Just wondering what everyone else likes for a rom. Feel free to tell us your likes or dislikes with your current rom. With the choices we have available to us on this device, I'm sure some are wondering which rom is right for them.... this poll should give people some kind of direction.
