This is another one of those stuck on Motorola Logo thread. I tried to search but could not find a problem similar to mine.
I have a rooted defy in India, which was running 2.2.
I followed the steps given in one of the guides here, rooted the phone and installed CM7 on it.
Things were going well for a month now but today I decided to play around with it. I installed the recovery here http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-944543 and made an android backup. I rebooted the phone but was getting into the M logo with blue LED flashing for a while. I pressed the vol down and entered into boot menu and changed the default to "normal stock". Now I can not boot my phone and am stuck on M logo. I can go to stock recovery though.
What do I do from here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
CM7 has 2ndinit preinstalled which consists of a custom recovery menu. Why don't you guys read FAQs.
Here's what you can do. Enter the Bootmenu goto Custom recovery and reinstall CM7, you wont lose your apps and settings. Wipe Dalvik cache and reboot.

I can no more access custom recovery. If I press the power button, and vol down, I get the triangle with exclamation from where I can go to stock recovery.

why did you install that recovery!!!!?? cm7 already has it!! if you dont mind to lose your data, i think you should reinstall cm7 from the begining, cause i'm pretty sure wipe data from stock recovery wont work
Thanks for the help. I only had stock recovery, which does not have the option for nandroid. That's the reason I flashed this recovery. I don't mind losing data. Where do I begin? The only thing I can access right now is stock recovery.

Thanks everyone. Problem solved. Installed RC 1.5 this time.

My friend was trying to flash Pay's ROM, on his MD525 Deblur.
He rooted it correctly, he then made a backup using system recovery, then he flashed it to 3.4.2-164 Motorola SBF with RSD Lite in bootloader mode..
After that he Re-rooted it again with SuperOneClickRoot.
Then he installed 2ndInit recovery installer.
When he was trying to flash the ROM.zip.. It showed an error, because 2ndInit 1.6 doesnt support Pay's rom.
He then tried to restore using system recovery.. the restore was successful. but when he rebooted, it is stuck at the red motorola logo and aftter 30secs it reboots again. and the process continues... So is it bricked?
I think he can now install the Nordic 3.4.2-177 and use cyanogen mod on it..
That can unbrick his phone right?
PS: Sorry for my bad english!
Wipe data in stock recovery, and than reboot and flash SBF via RSD...

To get into stock recovery:
Turn off the phone
Press the down volume button together with the on button.
When the phone turns on, and you get a droid image, touch the bottom right corner of the screen. If nothing happens, press the up and down volume buttons together.
This will get you into stock recovery. It has wipe data menus.

Thanks for the Reply.
His phone sbf version was 2.59 eclair.. he directly flashed it to 3.4.2-164.
He lost the downgrade ability right? Or else can he still downgrade?
After successfully installing cm7, he made a backup using system recovery..
Now again the phones is stuck at the red motorola logo.. its stuck frm around 30 mins..
he also tried removing battery and rebooting but non working..
-Download 2ndInt Recovery Installer from Market or from Xda
-start the app, click install, wait for the led to turn green, disable usb debugging in the settings and reboot 2 times.
download CyanogenMod7 and put it on sdcard
- wait for the blue Led and then press "Volume down"
- "[Open Recovery] start."
- wipe "data/factory reset"
- "install zip from sdcard" ->- "choose zip from sdcard"
- reboot
- wait for blue led "Volume down" and then choose boot "[2ND-INIT] boot"
- done
Double Post..
Thanks for the reply!
But pls read my post again.. After successfully installing cyanogen mod 7..
He thought to made a backup, and after successful backup using system recovery.. after the reboot the phone was stuck.
Now he flashed it again to 3.4.1-177 sbf.. it completed successfully, but still it is stuck at android logo now.. What should he do?
After installing CM7 did choose [2ND-INIT] boot...?
Now the prob is that he was flashing the sbf on low battery.. I told him to recharge before doing that.. he didnt listen.. now his battery is not charging..
Try wall Charger...
Still cant get it to work.. Scared of doing this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892026
So any other methods?

No idea other than this...Sorry
The battery problem is fixed now..
But now it is stuck at the android logo..
What happened is I was trying to make a backup using system recovery on cm7..
The backup was successful.. but from then it is not booting up...
tried wiping data/cache and factery reset.. still doesnt work..
tried to flash again with 3.4.2-177 nordic rom.. it shows booting 100%.. and also shows to manually power up this phone.. Still it is stuck at android logo..
Got everything under control for now..
Thanks for the help guys..
I just got the Defy and rooted/installed clockwork recovery.
After booting into it and flashin CM7, it's got stuck in a boot loop.
It won't let me access the recovery menu, and I can't get out of the loop.
Power+Up puts me into the bootloader mode, and Power+Down puts me into stock recovery.
Is there any way to get clockwork recovery up, or fix the phone without un-rooting, if not, how can I re-flash and fix it?
1. wipe
2. flash unmodified .sbf (choose from here: http and-developersDOTcom sbf:defy "2.2.1 Service Flashes" or "2.2.2 Service Flashes")
3. wipe again
In stock recovery wipe data and cache and than flash SBF u want.....
Thanks, I found one and was downloading, just didn't want to loose my root.
Is there any other recovery mod that you can boot into from startup, unlike clockwork?
Try to flash fixed sbf....But i dont know more...
Use "Defy 2ndInit" it's available on the android market, or search for it on the forums. Also, when you reflash you will lose root, root it using SuperOneClick and you should be good to go!

Maybe you wipe after installing cm7. Only wipe beforeinstall .

Hey all,
I'm having a slight issue with Clockwork Recovery as in it won't boot unless I just reflashed it.
I rooted and started flashing ROMs on day 1, but a friend of mine noticed on his phone that he cannot get into Clockwork Recovery unless he opens ROM Manager, flashes CWR, shut down manually, and reboots into Recovery manually. Any other time he is greeted with Andy on his back with the Orange /!\ on his chest. So I checked it on my phone, and sure enough, same thing.
Is this a consistent problem for everyone and if not, is there a fix?
Thanks in advance!
CWM hasn't been permanently flashed, hence the stock recovery going back unless you go through (the crap) ROM Manager. Manually flash it using fastboot and you're sorted
It automatically restores the stock recovery on boot. Look at one of the rooting guides in the dev section for info on which file you need to rename to stop this behavior.

i just rooted with s on and i flashed a custom recovery then rebooted. htc logo came up, and then a black screen its been like an hour with the black screen and it wont boot. i know that normally its takes a long time to boot a fresh rom but this is ridiculous. and i made sure that i flashed a cdma rom marvelc. what do i do!!
i can still boot into the boot loader though
Dude im no expert in HTC phones but you had to turn s-off when rooting your phone. If you made a nandroid backup your in luck reflash your stock rom back and this time root with s-off and enjoy flashing plz hit the thanks button if i helped.

Boot into hboot with volume down + power. Scroll down to recovery and push power to enter it. All going well you should go into your recovery. If you get a red triangle with an ! Then you still have the stock recovery.
OK now scroll down and make a back UP!!! After that factory reset the device, wipe cache, dalvik cache. Data. Everything aside from your sdcard. Then reboot the device. This should get your device operational again. Reboot should take no longer than 15 minutes.
After that choose a custom rom to flash, or just go about setting up the phone as you want.
When you go to flash a new rom make sure you back up first, then wipe everything bar SD card. Then install the rom and reboot.
Good luck pal

Thank you you for replying but I did some experimenting around and I found out that the clockwork mod was a marvel recovery
I have a marvelc wildfire so I went to rezo609 folder and found the recovery img and replaced it with a clockwork marvelc img.
Then I opened the prompt selected install clockwork mod, it installed
Then I went to recovery, worked and installed the cm9 rom (marvelc) and gapps and It successfully worked
You were probably right its beta so it has some bugs
But thank you all who tried to help me I really appreciate it
Sorry I just started so I deleted the URL
no problem buddy always happy to help.
I was going to flash a new ROM on my DHD and did the usual steps: backup using TB, reboot to recovery, factory reset and then go find zip to install on SDCARD. But this time instead of finding my zips I had already transferred, I found none. So I mounted the SDCARD through the recovery menu and transferred the zip using my laptop.
I still couldn't see the zips, so I chose to reboot the phone from the recovery menu. Booted into old ROM, completed the setup wizard and rebooted to recovery again. Still no zips! So I turned the phone off and was just going to boot straight to recovery using VOL UP and POWER but then I only got three short vibrations and nothing happened, so I booted again to ROM and rebooted to recovery from there.
This time nothing happend, nothing at all. And now I'm stuck where I cant boot it, not to recovery, not to HBOOT and not to ROM. Tried taking out the battery and putting it back in. Tried turning it on using just POWER, using VOL UP and POWER, using VOL DOWN and POWER - and in different time length combinations. adb reboot bootloader cant find the phone. The LED doesn't light up when plugged to USB.
ROM: JELLYTIME for DHD/Inspire4g - 4.2.2 R4
Recovery: ClockworkMod
I'm guessing my DHD is completely bricked, right?

Oh dear poor you, I'm no expert, but unless your battery is dead, I'd say you killed your phone. Can't even get into recovery yikes.

If your battery is dead you may need to ask a friend to charge it for you? If your phone still boots into recovery you havent killed your phone, if you go to the htc web site & look for the correct software for your phone you may have to apply that to reboot your phone again, but after you will need to root again? But first try another rom a stable one & try doing this - factory reset/full wipe, then wipe cache, then wipe dev cache, then fash the new rom. Hope this helps
