oddly he's had over 300 posts and is a "senior member" :S in response to OP... I think there might be but it is highly recommended that you do NOT use it as it is known to have a high risk of bricking your phone. Just use the complex method, it isn't actually THAT hard, i did it in an after-noon with absolutely no prior experience.
If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself you can pm me and I can point you to some great guys that will set up a remote session and root it for you. They can also change hboot, install roms or what ever you want. The vision is a bloody biach to root if you can't use adb. Anyway figured I would put that out there rather than bash you senseless. Lol. (All in good spirits)

Oh **** why is bricking the phone i would assume because of htc g2 being vanilla android like original Motorola droid. I thought it wouldnt be easy to get bricked.
I got galaxy s vibrant brick for stupid reason delete some important files.
But wow I guess im going to do Hard method root, which i dislike but thanks for head up.

I was gonna point out that the ota makes it so visionary wont work any way. So if you updated to 2.3.3+ it would be useless anyway.

your right because my htc g2 runs android 2.3.5 os the only reason i would root is to get Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich unless Htc release it and even then i like cyanogenmod i miss his rom tv animation and the custom options he have i had on my droid incredible, galaxy s phones. Cant be replace not even on stock roms.
g2
pming whats up,i missed cyanogenMod too bro.how i do the one click method from gingerbread crap? hit me at twitter @phatgearatl..
Even on froyo I was having trouble with abd. Chmod and permission and seeing the phone errors. Print out Guhl, Nipqur and others instructions and save yourself the headache and pay someone on craigslist to do it.

i was thinking the same idea, thinking about paying someone that can root phone . But, i didn't want my phone getting messed up by them either. I have money and i'm think about it . But if their going to root my phone; it will just be to get superuser the rest I do it on my own.
1-click root solutions don't work on the G2 due to the fact the NAND memory chip is write protected purposely by HTC. Older HTC phones don't have this protection, and newer HTC devices have even more protections, such as locked bootloaders. Newer Moto phones have locked bootloaders also. I don't really follow Moto much, but I'm guessing like HTC, older Moto phones were not as protected. Samsung and LG, on the other hand typically have very little protection against root, and very easily rooted. That is why 1-click root solutions exist for those phones.
HTC's claim is that they are protecting themselves from customers that root the phone, then damage the phone in the process of installing custom ROMs (or other mods), then try to return the phones under warranty. Sounds a little BS to me, but I guess only they know how many people try to send in phones for warranty, which they damaged by trying to mod it.
Is it the Wiki root method you have been looking at? http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
I think most here agree, this is the best/safest root method. Its really not that hard. It seems long, but lots of the steps are just downloading a bunch of files, and the steps are spelled out in great detail (which is a good thing - makes for a long guide, but also prevents you from getting confused). Other than that, you just type a bunch of commands into ADB. And if you haven't used ADB (Android Debug Bridge), its handy to know how to use it, anyway.
yeah your right phone like htc mytouch 3g,g1,htc hero, droid eris, droid incredible and nexus one dont have that problem to do 1 click root .
Same with Motorola with original droid, but cliq is having same issue like the new phones. It isn't an old factor it custom user interface that manufacture, put on their phone that prevent from 1 click root access.
Samsung galaxy s another phone that you can 1 click root.
Im just going to pay someone to root my phone to solve my problems. Then i flash by myself Clockwork mod recovery and flash the rom i like and the kernals.

Note: if you have G2 and updated last T-Mobile's Gingerbread, then you have to downgrade it to be able to root.

As a side note I also think it's bs since root customers who actually do warranty returns or repairs have got to be like 1% of their total returns and repairs...

[Q] Bootloader Unlocking - Post ICS cancellation

Okay so we've got a few methods of unlocking the bootloader, sonys official way, Jinx13, unlock-bootloader com (I still cannot post links) and a few others although all of these are paid...
Since Sony has cancelled Ice Cream Sandwich for the play, for legitimate reasons but still..., users with bootloader unlock allowed: no are going to be searching for ways to unlock their bootloader as easily as possible and this could cause problems. Consider the fact that people will not wish to pay, they will go to unreliable sources and have their phones bricked or worse... So why can't developers work on a safe free method? Or why doesn't someone strata free unlock service? Is this even possible? I have searched the web and the forums and all I can ever find is paid methods - not even a mention of development...
I apologize if this is a waste of a poste although I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it, I would play with it myself although I have never developed for phones, only ever web and basic programs and I think this is something that is kind of urgent so if anyone knows of anything....?
Basically the people who charge have to buy tokens or points in batch so they need to charge to cover expenses. Give it time someone will find free way eventually.

You don't need someone else to do it for you, it's pretty easy. Start by explaining exactly what you've attempted. Also your bootloader details. And the variant that you have (at&t, Rogers, Telstra).

[Q] chain fire auto root

Okay i know the answer is somewhere out there already but i looked and could not find.. has anyone tried chainfires auto root for verizon note 4.. there is a link to the verizon model and i have not seen any report on this. Please answer my stupid question lol. I know it has been talked about but simply cannot find anything on this..
IIRC it requires an unlocked bootloader. Thus, no dice.
They're is as yet no root, it'll show up in this forum when it happens. No reason to ask about xyz root method, none work.

Yeah thats what i figured.. i know the boot is on lockdown but i didnt know why they would have a root method if it was still locked down... okay thank you.. i pray to the phone gods for a solution.. i used to have the g2 and that boot was locked down and i think it still is.. they had some loky patch file that walked around the boot.. is this not an option for the note.. i dont know much about this level of information lol. Im just a simple geek that has crack flashed phones into bricks and then saved them from pure persistence!
Wait had anyone actually tried it. LOL 15K bounty but it's been out there for weeks hahahaha.
That's because the is a DEV ed. Of the phone that has an unlocked bootloader that's why it's available if that wasn't the case I am pretty sure chain would have claimed the thousands of dollars just waiting there for him and if he didn't want it he would donate it.

There are no other root methods and possibly won't be any more. Of I'm correct there's only a recovery for one variant and if it's not your model I honestly wouldn't risk it. There is OneClickRoot .com where you connect with a technician live online and they root it with that method remotely and its 40 bux I believe but, you have a 100% guaranteed if no success which they will succeed, you don't pay, and if something goes wrong they replace your phone. They have been around a few years and I see nothing but good comments about them and talked to several g4 owners who did it. I desperately want root on mine but I'm not attempting that delicate **** with my bad luck lol and there's not much dev for it cuz of the locked boot loader right now, hence no custom rims so I'm considering claiming mine lost ad forking 40 bux which is worth it for me

Yes These guys are absolutely right you need to go do some serious research and completely forget rootin a g4 if your not a fly advanced user. I started when I found a lil Samsung Galaxy centura on the side of the road out walking one day and I got lucky it was a very simple root. Really what is absolutely crucial is that custom recovery which I learned the hard way, I still have a gpad 10.1 brand new in my drawer that won't go past the boot, fastboot, and stock recovery and I dont have a PC and I haven't had experience using a PC in many years lol but I got as far as possible without one and being able to flash a different roM depending on my mood and easily laugh at a brick or bootloop while stepping over it is a great feeling I recommend highly. But your not quite ready yet especially for a tricky ***** like the g4, Hell Im not ready for it nor can afford it lol I give that lil L70 utter hell though and learn every day… since you have an unlockable BL (soooo jealous lol jk) you have more options but trust me find an old phone and practice all you can first ..good luck and have fun expanding your mind man[emoji6] [emoji4]
Oh and if you need any help you can private message me and ilk do my best. If I can't answer something I know some guys who can
Oh yeah (again lol) it all may seem complicated at first but you hit a point where it will all just click and fall into place like flipping a switch and then be amazed that everything actually works the way it does, it's just getting to that threshold that is the tricky part
Through my ancient eyes comes the certainty of decay... LG G4 & L 70
From my experience, initially you may get confused about all terms like root, bootloader, recovery, 3 wipes, Supersu, etc but when you find a post teaching you how to root or install recovery, you need to make sure you download the correct image/file for your phone model! But most importantly you need to know how to rescue by yourself if anything go wrong first. DOWLOAD CORRECT KDZ AND IMG BEFOREHAND for pre-cautionary measure. Well known about the steps how to hard reset to restore to factory image.
All in all, I was not studied IT but rooting and installing recovery is a skill facilitating my phone experience! Have fun on it!!
