Anyone have the Borgey ROM? The inc.sodpit website stopped giving it out, and now I am stuck with a phone that has no signal, so I need to get back to the stock rooted ROM (I didn't do a backup, know I hate myself) anyone have it that they can put it up or send me? Thanks

Guys, I'm lost. I search. I read (my eyes are bleeding), but unfortunatley I don't understand the terms, so it's all greek to me.
I have a stock EVO with 2.1 The only thing I have done is added Unrevoked3 to bring back my ability to use wifi tethering.
I would now like to get to 2.2. I've been saying "NO" to the OTA update because I know nobody has rooted 2.2 yet.
That said, it seems that because I haven't upgraded I can pull root, apply 2.2, keep root and keep wifi tethering.
I'm wondering if someone can provide step by step instructions on how to do this given a stock phone with only unrevoked3 on it so far.
I know - search... I'm so lost though. I want to be as close to stock as possible when I'm finished, and ideally I'd like to be able to go back and apply the stock OTA or HTC update if I want to, even if I lose root.
Can anyone help? Step by step?
Thank you!
If you rooted 2.1, then you can upgrade to 2.2.
There are probably 10 rooted ROMs in this forum now. Pick the one you like and flash it. Just be sure it says it is rooted.
You must be FULLY ROOTED for most roms on here. Unrevoked3 is not a full root.
Look into Simpleroot to get a full NAND unlock and root and then you can boot into the custom recovery and flash as you please.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=706411
Try using this method and flashing a custom rom should give you root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745420
Sounds like I'm hearing 2 things. Do I need to do a full root (BTW, I'm on an old mac, so I can't use simpleroot), or can I do as xHausx says and just install over the unrevoked3 "root"?
Recommendations on the ROM's closest to stock Froyo?
Will I be updating the radio at the same time?
Sorry - newbie
Go with xHausx's method then.
I'm running Baked Snack 1.3, it's a solid ROM. You'll be playing with many roms over the next couple weeks.
Here's a stock rooted 2.2

Closest to stock would be the UPDATED 8/7 HTC Froyo 2.2, *FINAL*, v3.26.651.6 (Rooted) DeOdexed RevE.1

Okay, so I am downloading the one Grouse recommended. At the same time I'm doing a backup via rom manager and have done a titanium backup already.
From here is it as easy as transferring the .zip file to my Sd card and then loading it via rom manager???
Again, remember I'm on unrevoked3 and everything else is stock.
Will I have to update any radios, etc?
Thanks so much - what a wonderful resource this site is.

this will not work. you need to have "full" root and be NAND unlocked to flash roms. Unrevoked3 is not full root as stated above. you may however try UnrevokedForever. just find the appropriate thread and follow the instructions if it is compatible with a mac, dont remember right off the top of my head.
Okay, t3project... explain the thread in post #4 here.
I'm learning here - not trying to be a smartass. It just looks like it WILL work... is this not the case?
Okay, so I've updated with no problems. I'm on Froyo now, I retained wifi tether. All is good with the world.
Except Pandora. I get the poor quality and the closing when nav or phone call.
Is there a fix for this yet? Also, now that I'm running a custom ROM I would assume I can't take any updates that google would push out. I can still update apps, but if this problem with Pandora is with the OS am I screwed?
Thanks,

I didn't use unrevoked so I am not really sure if the method I linked to earlier works or not, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to use one of the other methods just to make sure you have full root and the NAND unlocked.

You've got to use the search button man... Theres a fix for it out there somewhere
I've found the "fix" even before I tried to install 2.2. The problem is that I don't have a PC to work off of.
Can this editing of the file be done by transferring the file via BT to my mac, editing in text editor, and sending back via BT???
Thanks

Probably with a stock rooted rom but if you want to do other things such as overclock, uncap the fps, custom kernels and whatnot you'll need to be full nand unlocked.
This thread contains the stock ROGERS firmware that comes with the GT-P1000R.
Andrew_Low has provided a copy of his stock FROYO backup, which I tested on my tab and confirm that it is working. The kernel is rooted, other than that it is a clean ROGERS rom. For further details on this refer to post 2.
He was also able to capture the GINGERBREAD update (which I have not tested as of yet, any testers please post your results).
This is the stock update available from KIES. For further details on this refer to post 2.
Many thanks to him for this, if it helps you, hit his thank you button. If you find this thread helpful as well, hit my thank you button.
Instructions on flashing are not provided. If you need these files it means you know how to flash your device, have flashed a custom ROM previously, and require this to return to a stock state.
As usual FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK, don't blame ANYONE here for ANYTHING.
PLEASE NOTE: The FROYO stock ROM is currently unavailable, will be back up soon.
Downloads can be found here
Further more, I would like to thank kpetrie77 for setting up a wiki on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the wiki is full of great links for all things Galaxy Tab. You can find it here, and if you have anything to contribute please do so as it helps everyone here at XDA.
Thanks to theREDlegion for putting this together. Happy to try to help others both on P1000 series.
The FROYO version was rooted with SuperOneClick 2.2 - if you use this utility and unroot it will remove the superuser.apk and after a reboot, adb won't connect as root. Before you do that reboot, you'll want to remove the busybox binaries /system/xbin to reach as 'near a stock state as possible'.
The GINGERBREAD version was snagged from Kies during the update process. It seems the Check Fus Donwloader doesn't know about Rogers (but it knows about Bell?!).
Real life gets in the way for hacking, but I'm motivated to make the Tab (mine included) as useful as possible beyond stock.
Thank you. This will come in handy.

Was hoping you could answer this question. I am currently running stock froyo on my Rogers Tab. If i update to Gingerbread is there any negatives with me wanting to upgrade in the future to other builds. Does it lock the bootloader? or is the bootloader already locked?
Thanks.

Sorry to respond almost a month later but I have not been checking my PM's regularly for the past little bit with so many other things on the go. It is better to post these kinds of questions in the thread itself, as this would help other members with similar questions. That is why I created the thread, and this is a good question to ask and answer in the thread. It is a REALLY GOOD QUESTION, that I'm sure others would be interested in and therefore I will post it in the thread. If you would like me to remove your username please contact me.
The Samsung Gingerbread release is not locked, it is signed. You CAN flash custom kernels and ROMs, DO NOT use the PATCH tool that Chainfire has provided, if that is why you ask, see that thread. That patch is an amazing tool provided by Chainfire, there is nothing wrong with the patch it just does not apply to us. If you use it, the tool will ask you to patch, DO NOT PATCH. You will screw things up with it and have to re-flash, re-stock and re-do everything just to fix it.
If you are uncertain if you should flash anything, than DON'T FLASH ANYTHING. Read, read than read some more before continuing any further.
These stock ROM's are not SamFirmware downloads, they are STOCK Rogers firmware from the device and from the update from KIES.

I haven't had the opportunity to restore a tab yet. One of these days someone will lend me one for testing and I will try test these files.
Looking at the files, these will need to be restored via heimdall correct?
Also looking for the Bell Froyo rom. Any suggestions?

Heimdall is correct.
Have not come across a stock BELL Froyo ROM (haven't even looked really). Will see what I come across and post back.
How to flash P1000R to stock Gingerbread
I wrote up how to take the Gingerbread firmware in the OP and flash it to your device.
http://lowtek.ca/roo/2012/restore-rogers-galaxy-p1000r-to-stock/
It's short and sweet. Ubuntu (Linux) as my desktop, heimdall as the flashing tool. Key is really mapping the files in the firmware to the heimdall partition names and getting through the boot sequence (flash, recovery and allow update, reboot).
Rogers CWM flashable modem UXJJ6
Following instructions found here http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...t/540640-make-my-own-cwm-flashable-modem.html I created a CWM flashable modem of the Froyo Rogers ROM.
Why? Well, this modem didn't appear to be available in this form - so here it is as an attachment.
Sorry for being noobish, just got a nexus, UK and it's on 4.0.1, been reading a lot, and very much overwhelmind, now, coming from my galaxy s2, which, I had been used to flashing and routing daily. I managed to use the toolkit, to root my phone, smashing app, will definitely donate, to the dev, as i managed to root, in pretty much 5mins. My problem is, whats the best route, to follow, in order for me to have the latest stock 4.0.4, because I have read a lot of stuff, so now muddled as to what path to take. Is it a matter, of just downloading the official rom, in the general section, and flashing it via custom recovery, sorry for the noobish questions, it's been a long day, trying to get to know the phone, am sure, if someone can help me from here, all be fine. I also tried to seek for an update, under about, but phone says am on latest firmware, which is 4.0.1,so appreciate your guidance please.

Phew cheers buddy, haven't tried this yet, as at work, will give it a short when I get home, anything easier than this please, as i just have a forbia for anything called adb please? Also, don't understand why my device is still on 4. 0. 1, been hitting the update button continously with no luck, but prepared to use other means, as suggested above, to get the device updated. Thanks again in advance.

You CAN flash factory images through the toolkit you know. You can download them at Google, put them in the correct subfolder of the GNEX toolkit folder and flash away. In order to do that you do have to have an unlocked bootloader and you will loose your root. Unlocking the bootloader will loose all your data (including under the SDCARD folder (so everything you stored will be gone)!. Rooting can be done again through the toolkit...
Or you can download a different flashable zip file that you can flash from CWM recovery.
Hmm thanks this looks more like my sort of of a thing "different flashable zip file that you can flash from CWM recovery.", were can i find this please?. Thanks.
Hello guys, I'm posting this because I couldn't find any information for my questions in the forum. I want to know what does s-off means, does it means that sound will be turned off? Then what's the big idea? Why is s-off needed for flashing roms? What connection does sound has with roms? If s-off means something else please guys explain, because I don't want to start process until I will have as much information as it's possible.
Also there are some forums about easy rooting for example this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500 from glevitan, I want to know after I root the phone see this step: "4. Reboot the device and voilá. You are done" does this means that I have rooted phone with same stock rom and it can work just like before only difference that I will be able to have superuser access or should I install custom rom in order to turn on phone?
Also I wanted to know is there anyway now for me to save apps data? as I know there is not because unrooted phone means that one application never allows other to see its own data, but if you know anything please help me.
Thanks in advance, Levani.
S-OFF and Rooting
Hi,
S-OFF means that the NAND portion of the device is unlocked and can be written to. The default setting for HTC’s devices is S-ON, which means that neither can you access certain areas of the system nor can you guarantee a permanent root.
If you want to root your device, please follow these most easy steps to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590736
If you Have S-On device and would like to turn S-OFF, please ask me. Alternative, you can also install custom Rom on an S-On device
Please click on "Thanks" if I helped you
I can't get into the link - unlockroot.com I tried to download that file from another site too, but anti-virus notification poped up. I asked after the process which is described in the link I have written, will I have to install new rom or will the stock rom work without flashing it?

Well, Unlockroot.com seems to be working perfectly fine for me and did not pop up Antivirus notification. You may try a proxy server to download it. Secondly, it will root your stock ROM, no need to flash a new one
