Insertcoin[Sense2.1+3.0GB] - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried using this ROM and even partitoned my SD card for stock HBoot. I had the following configuration : A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT - stock hboot - the one with 250 mB for /system
- 1 gB ext4 partition
When i tried "a2sd check" or "a2sd install" or any a2sd command, it says a2sd not found. M currently using MIUI and everything works perfectly ....
Just that i wanted to try out some sense roms. Also tried flashing DarkTremor's A2SD script but then it stuck on splash screen.
Can anyone plz let me know how can i basically achieve A2SD on this ROM and run the above commands either through Terminal Emulator or through shell. A pointer to a step by step giude would be awesome[Noob alert]
TIA

maybe the rom you are trying does not support ext4? have you checked that?
btw hboot does have nothing to do with your sd card

Yes it supports ext 4

So can any1 plz give a me solution on this?

You don't need to do any A2SD+ commands or anything as a prerequisite for Insertcoin. All you have to do is make sure you download the right ROM for your HBOOT, partition 1GB EXT4. Full wipe and flash the rom. The rom itself will take care of moving stuff to the EXT during installation.
Hope this helps in any way.

App2SD+ not working in MIUI-XJ ROM

Finally downloaded and installed a2sd version of MIUI-XJ. Everything went smoothly. Loving the speed. Awesome MIUI implementation and thanks XJ for modifying it.
Now the problem started when I try to activate app2sd.
When I run the code to activate from terminal, It gives me error - "Problem detected: Darktremor Apps2SD may not have ran during boot. Cannot read a2sd.mountpoint."
I tried to rewipe everything and flashed still no luck. I have 512 MB ext 3 partition which I was succesfully using for Leedroid, Insertcoin and gingervillian (which use same darktremor code)
If I go in settings and SD card setting I can see A2SD+. Total space 457 MB and available as 453 MB.
So what option do I have now from below?
1. Downloading darktremor script and flashing it and try?
2. I dont know what is D2EXT and D2W so I never tried it. I have 512MB Ext 3 and remaining fat 32 (0 swap). can I try any of that version with that partition structure?
I really started liking this ROM. I hope something works because currently I am using it as it is and only 4-5 apps install bcoz soon it will go into low memory.
Thanks in advance.
You don't need to flash the DarkTremor script because MIUI-XJ has A2SD script built in and you use the terminal to activate it.
Download Terminal from market and open it
Write:
su
a2sd reilstall
After few seconds phone should reinstall a2sd and start to move apps to ext
It worked for me
Yes Meaple, But that script was giving error for some reason
Thanks Vanthor,
I tried that but same error was coming so finally I downloaded the script and reflash it and all is well now But looks like some problem with that update in that ROM.

[Q] Ext2/3/4 ?!?

Dear ladies and gentlemen
I need a little help in A2SD +.
I had formatted my SD card with the rom manager one month ago.
512 MB, 0 MB swap, everything works fine.
SD-Ext, created with rom managers would have to be a ext3, right?
Today I flashed AmonRa ([RECOVERY]RMD Recovery v1.0 (Based on AmonRA 2.2.1).
There is also an opition to convert/format to ext3 and 4.
What is the difference between 2, 3 and 4?
And can I use ext3 or 4 at all with my MIUI 1.4.17?
I think MIUI is using the Darktremor scipt right?
As you can see I have some knowledge gaps in A2SD +
Thank you for your help and have a great weekend
As far as i know, ext 2 is faster then 3 but slower as 4 (so four is fastet). If you use data2ext miui version, you should use ext 4 (otherwise your system will be too slow). If you use a2sd+ version, i recommend to use ext 3 partition.

thx MatDrOiD
i am using the a2sd version of miui, so ext3 should be my choice, right?
AmonRA says my sd-ext is 2, but a2sdgui says its 3.
i created clockworkmod via rom manager, does anybody exactly know its ext2 or 3?

I would trust amonra recovery. Upgrade your ext2 to ext3 with amonra recovery. After flashing miui rom, activate a2sd+ on this way in terminal:
Code:
su
a2sd zipalign
a2sd cache2sd
After phone rebooted, start terminal again and type
Code:
su
a2sd reinstall
And please, please not use rom manager. It's a horrible software which causes heavy system problems. All operations you can do with rom manager can be done in recovery. So do it there, it's much safer. Furthermore, you cannot use rom manager with clockworkmod recovery.
To check a2sd+ is working, start terminal and type
Code:
su
ls -l /data
Output should be like this
(...)
app -> /sd-ext/app
app-private -> /sd-ext/app-private
(...)
dalvik cache -> /sd-ext/dalvik-cache

[Q] My SD partition is not picked up by A2SD+

Hey,
Recently I've partitioned an 8GB SD-card through RA Recovery v2.0.1 to have a 1024MB EXT4 partition without swap (later I tried EXT2, EXT3 and an aligned EXT4 as well).
After installing a ROM said to be compatible with A2SD, the latest Supernova 2.4.0.1, it did not show the additional storage room that should be available from the SD partition.
Also when using a terminal emulator app, after granting it Superuser permission, I could not get any evidence on my phone being able to see the SD partition. "a2sd" and "app2sd" commands are not recognized and the "busybox df -h" and some other command did not return any evidence on an SD partition being present.
Other ROMs I've tried installing were the latest Cool3D RunnyMede and the Runnymede&Bliss.Mix ROMs. Both froze at their boot screens (due to not being able to access SD partition?).
Some (additional) information on my HTC Desire:
- GSM
- Stock HBOOT
- Stock radio
- RA Recovery v2.0.1
So yeah, I was wondering if you guys could help me on getting my SD partition to function Thanks in advance!
I've got the _exact_ same problem. I hope someone at XDA can help, because I'm eager to try Chrome Beta on my Desire with ICS.

Try redo it with gparted or flash 4ext recovery if s-off

Thanks for the reply!
But sadly I won't be able to confirm whether that would've fixed my problem. I switched to MildWild's CM 3.8 ROM and that alone had my SD partition working for me.
Although it initially didn't appear to have the extra storage room (it displayed around 120MB in the Applications and Storage menus), I soon noticed that after installing a new app, that amount would first drop but then rise back to ~120MB again.
Typing the "busybox df -h" command in the Terminal Emulator confirmed that there was indeed a 1GB partition present from something called "sd-ext"...which would be the partition I made!
But could it be that I have to install A2SD+ separately for certain ROMs and is included in others?
Some like CM need this setup - mostly run AOSP roms myself but boot loops point to issue with the SD-ext partition. As was said earlier Gparted is the way to go to partition, and will align perfectly as well - if it were me I'd nandroid including sd-ext if separate in AmonRa (I use 4EXT Touch Recovery myself), copy sd contents to PC as back up, and re-do partitioning in Gparted.

Perhaps installing a A2SD script, or alike. Not sure if it will work with stock roms tho. Maybe INT2EXT or alike might, but someone will answer the correct way of doing it
This should be under Q&A's by the way.

It will not work, rom doesn't have init.d support.
Here is the boot.img I made while I was trying the same thing. Flash it via fastboot and then, without reboot, go to recovery and flash a2sd script via recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719151
Then reboot, reboot will last a little longer. After it boots download some terminal application from Play Store, run terminal and type:
su - to gain superuser rights
a2sd install - to install script and move all user apps to sd-ext
Phone will reboot after installation (maybe up to 3 times).
After the phone boots go to terminal again and type:
su
a2sd cachesd - to move dalvik cache to sd-ext
Phone will reboot.
For the rest of the commands to be used go to the original thread and read.
If you are s-off install link2sd from Google play.
First read how to use.
Cheers

[Q] mildwild based on cm7 a2sd ?

what type of partion do i use for this roms a2sd ?
i tried using the cwm recovery partion but the a2sd doesn't seemed to have activated ?
do i need to activate usign terminal or do i need to flash a a script to get it going ?
Maximum 2GB ext4 partition made with 4EXT recovery or gparted only, not clockworkmod or minitool partition wizard. Guide in general section.
Mildwild ROMs tend to activate a2sd by default, moves apps and dalvik to sd-ext by keeping apps on 'internal', do not 'move to sd'. Check the ROM thread
You should also be s-off and change hboot to cm7r2 hboot before you flash the ROM to maximise space
