[Q] Keeps saying simcard not detected. - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted T-Mobile G2, and a Fido Sim Card. I got the phone unlocked and got my Fido Sim card working. Now, after a year, from time to time, the phone would just suddenly not recognize that there is a sim card in it, and give me the No Sim Card problem, and I get no service. Rebooting sometimes helps, sometimes doesn't.
Help?
THANKYOU!

Get a new SIM card?

It sounds like it might be an issue with your ROM. I had the same problem with CWM a few months back but it resolved itself after a few updates. Search the CWM nightly thread for 'insert sdcard' if you're curious.
If your phone, a pc or other device cannot recognize it, then its probably a dead sdcard.

network or sim card error?

So I found out that my phone number shows up as "blocked" when calling people and tried to fix it via Call Settings - but when I try to go into the "advanced settings" menu, I get a "Network or SIM Card error" and I don't know what to do about it? I tried taking the SIM card out of the phone and doing it again - still got the same error. I do have my phone rooted and the Ultimatum ROM installed, could that be causing the issue?
Check with the developer and see if it is a known issue or if he can recreate the error himself, otherwise get a replacement SIM. (did you have this issue before putting this ROM on?)

I haven't tried it without the ROM on, but I'm going to flash the stock rom back on and see if that'll fix it, otherwise I'll hop over to the at&t store to get a new SIM card.

no sim error on desire hd

hi there I have a htc desire hd witch is rooted and running Virtuous Infinity v1.33.0 Alpha3 and have been running it for a while but all of a sudden the phone doesn't recognise there is a sim card in the phone and I get an error witch tells me to reboot but it still has the error on reboot i have taken the sim out wiped it off blown in the sim port and taken the battery out of the phone and left it for ten minutes but still keep getting the error if any one can help would be very appreciated
Try placing simcard in different phone to see if sim is ok. If you cant, make a nandroid, clean wipe and reflash rom to see if it's rom related. Good luck!

Ok, so your simcard has gone bad or your phone can't read sim  Did you check the connectors? Try different simcard or other phone it's the only (obvious) way.

SIM Reboots Device

My HTC Desire will reboot whenever the sim card is inserted in the device as soon as it connects to the 3G network. I've tried it with several sim cards and it happens with all of them (though a couple have worked for a short while, all the rest rebbot immeditely when 3g connection is established. I've tried resets, different roms, different radios and i just replaced the entire SIM-SD tray...
Can anybody think what the problem could be and a possible solution? I've run out of ideas and i can only think of the motherboard.
Thank you
Try flashing a new radio.

i've tried several radios.... same problem..:crying:
Ok, i've studied the issue a little further and this is what i've found:
If mobile data is on the phone will reboot as soon as it connects to the network but if mobile data is off or phone is in airplane mode then, when it boots it'll vibrate once and then switch off (and NOT reboot)
Does this mean anything to anybody? Is there any way I can log what's going on?
Thank you
EDIT; SORRY, MY MISTAKE, PHONE WORKS FINE IN AIRPLANE MODE AND IS ALSO WORKING WITH MOBILE DATA OFF, SO THE PHONE ONLY REBOOTS WHEN IT'S CONNECTED TO MOBILE DATA. (for good measure i just flashed a new rom, new radio and new kernel and the problem is the same)
I had this problem before, I know it sounds bizzare but try changing the sdcard, it worked for me

"No SIM Inserted" Error Message

I keep getting a " No SIM Inserted" message on my S4, I have replaced the SIM card a few times but it keeps happening no matter which ROM I'm on. It usually goes away after a battery pull.
I am aware that this might be a hardware issue but still would like to see if any one here can suggest fix

If it was my phone I would start off fresh and clean.
Go into the phone's settings under "accounts" and click on "backup and reset"
from there click on "Factory data reset".
After doing that the phone will boot normally but it will be a clean boot without any
of the playstore apps, without your gmail account and so on, if it had a custom rom
flashed (using cwm/twrp) it will still have the same rom in it but without any extra's
which the custom rom or you might have added.
Check out the sim card issue, see if it still has the problem.
If not then you can start all over again installing stuff from playstore. etc.
If it still has the sim card issue what I would do is find/download and
Odin flash the stock specific official firmware for the phone.
That way your phone will or should be working just like the day you
first got it unless you actually do have a hardware issue.
Always be sure to make a nandroid backup of your rom before doing anything else.
Good luck!
