Fujitsu Toshiba IS12T - Windows Phone 7 General

Hey,
Does anyone know if there are any plans to bring this device to Europe or if I can import it from Japan or something?
I love the look of it, but I really want a phone with at least 32gb storage which isn't looking likely atm... If none of the nokia phones have 32gb+ I really want to try and get one of these Fujitsu phones.

been very interested in the is12t as well for availability. but its been dead silent

Its unlikely as it was provisioned by the carrier in Japan KDDI or something like that. Also it is CDMA and the tech used in Japan will only work in Japan on the cdma network there.
It is possible another, similar device for GSM could be released after some prior of time.

Well, just call those shops which import Japanese games and comics and they should do the job for you.
Here is the link in Yahoo Japan, which sells IS12T standalone machines without contract and SIM lock.
http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/...d&f=0x2&slider=0&tab_ex=commerce&ei=UTF-8&b=1
I may consider to get one, as NAND built-in should be much faster than MicroSD in my Trophy, esp. 32GB ones.

it's better than this device's running GSM Networktechnology

That link was great but I can't read Japanese and none of them seem to be shipping internationally (according to G Translate anyway).
Unfortunately I cant find any on ebay.

I am also interested in one of these beauties. Waterproof so I've heard.

Hello everyone
I bought an Toshiba IS12T phone of of amazon.jp using a forwarding service.

It definitely supports GSM, so should work in Europe.
Sounds like it could be SIM-locked to a Japanese carrier. Are you sure you bough an unlocked one?

Yeah it supports GSM.
I found out that all the KDDI phones are locked.
Now trying to unlock it, but don't know how. . hm
I you wish I can post some pics or a small vid if you like

Well, are you really know what those Japanese means before you buy?
白ロム(White ROM) = empty ROM
ロッククリア済(Lock clear finished) = unlocked
Many of them just said empty ROM but without stating unlocked, which are possibly be locked ones.
In google by typing "IS12T unlock" there should have website suggestions which are selling unlock services.
BTW, how much in total have you got? I may also would like to have one if it is not too costly.

I think I payed like less than 400 euro to get it.
KDDI says there are no unlocked devices and they can't be unlocked!!!
Hm now to work on this otherwise I have to sell it again XD

They said, but there are somebody who has full paid the machine should have got the unlocked ones. (Unlocked by default/standalone, locked when got bundled plan)
According to this site:
http://nanapho.jp/archives/tag/IS12T/page/2/
You may check if it is really unlocked.
Step:
1) Choose "Wi-Fi" in "Settings"
2) Press the "PRL Setting" button for 10 secs or more
3) Press "*6#27" when the numeric keypad comes out
4) The page will be jumped to "Information"
If the column "Line Registered" is 0, then it is unlocked, otherwise (1) it is locked.

Thank you for the information.
I checked it and it says "0" so it is unlocked!
Maybe my sim cards are not working properly I had some issues earlier.
I tried different things and nothing seems to work :-(
If someone is interested I am going to sell it for 380 euro just pn me
It is the best phone I ever held in my hand!!!

There is currently no 'free' way of sim unlocking your device if you hang around long enough someone may write a program to do it but you may be waiting a while. Quite a few members have stated the unlock code can be obtained over ebay within 2 hours for around £9 which is a good price. You could also contact your carrier and tell them you want to take your phone abroad and use a different sim card in it while you are away to save costs. Sometimes they will unlock it for free.

got mine unlocked from o2 for free, filled in a form on their site and they emailed me the unlock code
just bought a SIM unlock code from here for £5
instant delivery, works perfectly. awesome
a warning about sim unlock: I got my nexus today from vodafone spain and as expected it was locked. I got an unlock code from ebay and it worked like a charm.
But, I like to play with new phones first, then restore defaults and set everything up the way I want it. The thing is, the galaxy nexus doesn't remember the network unlock code between factory resets, at least mine doesn't (yakju, came with ITL41F).
The codes work, but you may need yours again, so don't throw the number away
any code for three? im waiting the three to give me the code, about 2 weeks now
Hello Mark, is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus an universal phone? Can I use the unlocked version with LTE carriers in the future? I am in US and Verizon is the only LTE carrier I was wondering about using T-Mobile (HSPS technology) or wait for Sprint (my current carrier). I live in USA but I am thinking about moving to Japan so I wonder if I should just wait and maybe I will need to get one in Japan with one of their carriers... Also I love the forums and it is all great, but is there an IRC room for this questions as well?
Thank you in advance,

The GSM version can be purchased unlocked and used on any GSM carrier with their supplied SIM card. The GSM frequencies are listed for the Galaxy Nexus and they cover the majority of GSM international and US domestic carriers.
The LTE version, as far as we've heard, is only for Verizon in the US. Not sure what LTE technologies other carriers in other countries are using.
If you're interested in having an international capable version of the deivce, the GSM version is currently your best option.
Hope that helps!
Hi,
I would also like to purchase such a code, but how ist it with OTA updates? Still avialable?
How would it be if I later root my phone and put on a custom rom? Will it be still unlocked.
or
cant I just put on a custom rom, to sim-unlock the phone and save those costs?
Sorry for the noob questions.
Thanks

Custom Roms cannot sim unlock your phone as it isnt part of the system.
Flashing an OTA update or a custom rom will not affect your phone if you have sim unlocked it with a code.
MArk.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I have contacted my carrier (A1 Austria) and complained about the simlock. To make a long story short, they finally gave me the simunlock pin.
But recently I unlocked the bootlader and the unlock was wiped so I needed to reenter the pin. After I reflashed the original rom (back to stock) the sim was locked again.
And the most strange thing happened today. I just restarted the phone today (as every day) and the sim was locked again. So reentered the pin to unlock.
My question now, can it be that the simumlock pin they have provided me is not correctly working or is this a normal behaviour or a bug?
Br, Avi

If you need unlock the sim card, there are two ways.
1. Go to carrier service shop (called as "docomo shop") in Japan, and you can unlock. Cost 3,150 Japanese Yen(About 40$).
2. Or...Use unlock merchant like "Cell Unlocker .net".

If I'm not wrong, the SC-04D's sim unlock status is overwritten every time you flash a new rom right? So it would be better to use a method that actually got you the unlock code...

Unlock status will be kept permanently even if flash a new rom. (except explicitly lock again)
It is separate action between "SIM unlock" and "Flashing ROM".
I guess with a price that low sales are extremely poor in Japan?

This is incorrect for the SC-04D. It should be the case, but the lock state is apparently saved in /data because the phone does indeed get relocked with not only a new ROM flash but also with a factory reset.
And I've since found out that the Docomo shop that provided those unlock codes was reprimanded by Docomo corporate. It would seem that Docomo is worried about the salt being figured out. But, since the after market codes work for the SC-04D, that isn't a problem.
After market codes do not work for other handsets like the Docomo-branded Galaxy SII, so there is a unique salt in that case. unlock state on these other handsets persists though wiped of /data, though.
There's an app directly in this forum titled "Domoco sim unlock." Simple one button unlock and lock app.
While we are on the subject of Japanese phones, does anyone know how to download or purchase japanese apps/games that are restricted on the market by carrier??
I was pretty pissed when capcom released the free game gyakuten saiban (phoenix wright) to the android market but restricted it to certain models tied to certain japanese carriers.
I can download japanese apps if they are only country restricted but once carrier restriction comes into play, I get sad..
Anyone knows a way to overcome this? And don't get me started on third party japanese app markets that require you to have a real docomo/au/kddi account.. (Final Fantasy 3 anyone?)

ARE YOU SAYING THAT IF I FACTORY RESET MY NEXUS ITL GET SIMLOCKED? O.O i bought two while i was in japan from docomo. cancelled the contract total cost with unlock of 3150yen came to 230$ which is dirt cheap
it is very cheap
can it unlock the sim card?[/QUOTE]
My gf's brother in China just got 2 of those cheap GN's from Japan, he unlocked them with some Chinese software (translated as "kill Docomo", lol...), first he upgraded ICS to 4.0.2... that's all I know so far. One Nexus is now mine
I paid $30 to get the code from one of the online cell unlocker sites and I have my code permanently now. A factory wipe will reset my lock. DoCoMo even tells you that if you pay them to unlock it. Difference is, they won't give you the code. There is an app out there something like "**** Docomo" that I found right after I paid my $30 that does temp unlocks (like mine is now) or permenant unlocks, but I think it changes you IMEI to do that, and we can't do that here. DoCoMo white lists IMEI's of phones they've sold and if you aren't on it, you have to use a more expensive APN. Not a problem for a SC-04d in the states though.
Prices for the Japanese version of the phone have been dropping like crazy on Chinese online stores and I've been tempted but very suspicious. Could the unlock issue be the sole reason for the price drop or are there any hardware issues with the Japanese version?

Phones in Japan (just phones) are generally VERY CHEAP compared to the rest of the world. But unlocking it may be problematic.
Correct me if I was wrong but the so-called unlocking service in Japan only does temporary unlock, meaning if you flashed a new ROM, it's locked again.

The one docomo does, yes, and as I said they won't tell you the code so if you reflash the phone you have to go back to them to get it unlocked again (for free). That is why I paid for a code online; so i can always re-unlock it myself. I wish I would have seen the ****docomo apk earlier. Then I would have just used that when I travel, but oh well, its only $30.
I am dying to know where all these cheap japanese phones are though. In the 7 years I have been here I have only known the opposite to be true. It seems japan is always a little behind and a little (or a lot) more expensive. Pre smart phones, yeah, you might be right. Not now though.

hi the SC-04D only support UMTS800 & UMTS2100
the original Galaxy Nexus support UMTS850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100
they get totally different 3g network chip
Is only docomo using that 800mhz network?
or only japan use 800mhz?

Samsung Captivate Glide in India

Being a qwerty fan, I did some homework and concluded Captivate Glide as the ideal phone for me.
But the problem is, I'm in India and they don't sell this model in India.
Assuming I arrange to sneak one from the US, what are the possible issues I might face? Like connectivity issues or something?
Can I get an unlocked version from the US or unlock codes will be required to use it with carriers in India? It has a SIM slot, right?
and lastly, is CyanogenMod available for Captivate Glide?
Thanks in anticipation!

Yes the glide is a GSM device, works with SIM cards. There are unlock codes available, but because the glide is only months old (almost a year), you might get your unlock code quite delayed from unlocking companies.

In December I had bought an Captivate Glide through eBay for a great deal..
Got it to India, through Borderlinx - http://www.borderlinx.com/pages/how-it-works
(slightly costlier compared to other service providers) with duty and taxes..
+ Unlocking - 20 to 25$..
Overall it came below 500$.. I guess now it will be much cheaper..

If you can get an unlocked AT & T or Rogers version (without carrier symbol), there is no need to unlock it again in india. once unlocked, stays for forever..
You will not face any problem with any sim provider..
At india carriers use 2G - GSM 900/1800 and 3G-UMTS 2100.
This phone has 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
I love to see how many people are using this phone all around the world ! Or at least trying too!

Okay. So say I order this deal - http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Samsung-Cap...&_pcatid=801&_pcategid=9355&_dmpt=Cell_Phones, address it to someone in US and get it in India.
I'll still need to unlock it because its from ebay, right?
Similarly if I order this - https://negrielectronics.com/samsun...glide-rogers-unlocked-black.html#.T7XUReh7VXA from Negri, it will be unlocked, right?
Also, I assume this will support 3G in India.

Great. Thanks a lot
Which deal to go for?
I have contacted someone in the US who will order the phone online, collect it and bring it to India.
Now the question is, which deal to go for? (among the choices given below?
OR
Can it bought at the stores and unlocked later through AmericanUnlocker?
Preferably, I'd choose to do the latter, if its possible!
Anyway, the online deals I could get are:
1. http://canadagsm.ca/SAMSUNG/Captivate-Glide-i927/
I don't think this is the Rogers version! I wouldn't want the AT&T logo on my phone, but then this isn't a deal breaker. $325 seems like a good price.
2. http://negrielectronics.com/samsung-sgh-i927-captivate-glide-rogers-unlocked-black.html
At $455, its almost a $100 expensive. I don't understand the reason!
3. http://negrielectronics.com/samsung-captivate-glide-at-t-black-unlocked.html
This is available for $349! Only because its AT&T and the former is Rogers!
4. http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Samsung-Cap...&_pcategid=15032&_dmpt=Cell_Phones&_dashexp=1
Ebay is giving it for $310 !!
Now this is confusing!! Why the fluctuation in prices?
<< Bump >>
Anyone? :s

I've someone bringing it for me, but I'm getting variable prices on online offers. All this shakes the trust in these retailers. That is why I want to buy it over the counter.. I'll check the price difference later, but is it possible to go to an AT&T store and buy one, without getting a contract?

LG Optimus F3Q

I'd like to get one of these somehow to Europe and unlock it. Anybody happen to know where to get one shipped & how to unlock?

I am also interested in this phone, but it seemed no one really cared about it. A seller called welectronics posted an open box video in youtube, you are able to buy from them at a premium, but I would wait for cheaper ones to float around on ebay. The 4G bands of this phone do not work in Europe but 3G do, and there are websites that sell the unlock code for the network lock.
il like this phone too and waitin an offer (Ihave T-Mobile MyTou Q Huawei u8730)
it's really too bad no one seems to care about this phone.
I wanted to get one but also want to see if anyone here can come up with rooting and flashing instruction for this phone first.
I really want to get a Kitkat rom on this phone.
(FYI, I am still using the T-Mobile G2 I love so much.)
I found a site which sells this unlocked and ships to Europe: http://www.canadagsm.ca/products-LG-Optimus-F3Q-Penta-Band-LTE. 2G and 3G will work; 4G not.
But as there is no alternative ROM available and apparently no way to root, it's impossible to remap the keyboard. Which is a must, at least up here in the Nordics.
Brilliant looking phone. I'm sure the qwerty sliders will make a comeback someday, stupid people just haven't figured out yet that Apple screwed them when they introduced the on-screen keyboard.
But how to get root? Hopefully somebody with skills would also buy this and do Cyanogenmod for it.
Could this be real: http://442kitkat.senuke.info/mp3-0/lg-optimus-f3q-5998.html
If there is a rooting guide and KitKat rom for this phone, I am going to buy one right the way.

Looks real but doesn't seem to have a rooting S-Off guide.
And the download links to the rom are broken.

Also no way I'm downloading from an obscure site a ROM to my phone, without a community which can validate that it does not include anything nasty.
I am wondering if Motochopper or RootMaster can root this phone or not.
I expect that after some sales somebody will create a forum for this phone. It's on T-Mobile where people are used to qwerty's and in their portfolio it replaces the Samsung Galaxy Relay, which has an active forum here.
I am also very interested in this phone.
Problem seems to be getting it out of the grasps of the usual "America is #1 and we don't want to know about any of the rest of you" phone companies...
...Does anyone know if the LG Enact shares the same case design as the F3Q? They both look very similar.
Not sure about Europe, but some South East Asian countries welcome qwerty keyboard phone. What is LG thinking? Can't sell a phone without carrier backing?
The LG Enact has identical spec as the F3Q, BUT it is a CDMA phone for Verizon so it is almost impossible to use outside the US, unless you are using a CDMA carrier and is able to unlock and register the phone.

In this regard then it's not just LG, Motorola too.
Making the awasome Droid4 exclusively for Verizon in US and no GSM version for T-Mobile or AT&T.
I guess Motorola deserve what is happening to them now, guts taken out by Google and being sold to Lenovo as an empty shell.

I know it is CDMA but I was wondering if it was physically identical. I was wondering if you might be able to use accessories like cases made for the Enact on the F3Q, and maybe even change the ugly blue keyboard of the F3Q to the grey one of the Enact.

I really don't understand the design process over at LG.
If I buy the F3Q, the first thing I would do is that out that back shell cover and spray it will some black or pearl-white spray paint.

Actually it has a CDMA and LTE radio and has a SIM card slot. But nowhere else really uses the Band 13 LTE Verizon deploys, so can't really use it anywhere else. Maybe when Videotron starts setting up the C1 band in Canada then can use those phones here.
Contacted a few buying agents in the hope of importing one from the US, but they told me a monthly plan is required for purchasing this phone, so resales are not likely to circulate for the moment.
The ffollowing guide from k1mu worked on rooting my mobile f3q. Also I was able to buy the device out right from a mobile store in California for 339.99 plus tax for a total of 368.04 . This was with no monthly plan. Hope this helps anyone Else out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758

Brilliant. Now Cyanogenmod someone please and I'll get this as my second device, even though I already have a nicely working Samsung Galaxy Relay (with slide-out qwerty also).
Wow, rooted already. This phone is definitely promising.
...I wonder if there's enough of us outside USA that it might be worth getting someone reliable to do a group purchase for us?
I can just see it now, some random guy walking into a T-Mobile store and asking for 26 F3Qs, 18 cases, 6 USB chargers and 5 dust protectors.

Buying a US version of the S9 and using in the UK

Hi All,
I have my unlocked pre-order S9 sitting on my table here in London but have ended up needing to travel for work to Chicago this weekend.
The obvious thought that came to mind is - "can I buy one in the states, save the best part of £150 and use it back in the UK?". I thought that as they're quad-band or whatever they are that a US variant would still work fine - could anyone confirm if that is the case?
I spoke to a samsung helpdesk person and they said no but genuinely didn't sound like they knew what they were talking about...
Are there any other considerations that I should be taking in to account, e.g. Exynos vs Snapdragon? I've done a bunch of Googling but not come across anything definitive.
Thanks in advance folks.
Pete
Think you may not be able to as samsung region lock their phones
So you would have to put an America SIM in the phone whether you can change that after first activation I don't know
Also aren't the American bands different to the UK??

Thanks for getting back to me, looking at the S8 it appears that you could sort the region lock by placing a 5 minute phone call using a US carrier so that's something that I can do whilst I'm away.
The bands are different in the states vs here but that being said my UK phone works when I take it abroad. I thought that the fact that these are multi-band phones that they work elsewhere.
Pete
i had bought a S5 back in the day from the states and used it in india and it worked great(it was unlocked), you do however need to make a 5 min phone call after which you can use it elsewhere in the world.
Thanks! So I guess the remaining questions considerations are then:
Can I get the hybrid SIM version in the states?
Is having the Snapdragon vs Exynos going to impact anything?
Are there any other material differences that you guys would be thinking about?
I've done plenty of googling on this but there isn't too much useful stuff that I've come across.
1. yes, get the G960U or G965U (unless you mean dual sim in this case i dont know)
2. snapdragon has a faster gpu, slightly slower cpu, and locked bootloader so you can't flash custom roms...
3. Yep see 2 ;P
As someone in the US I'm ordering one from the UK just because of the bootloader.
Thanks pal! I'll open up my preorder that I have then!!
I don't believe dual sim is available in the US

I think you are right. I spent a good chunk of time yesterday on the internet researching and could not seem to find anywhere that sold it.
I cracked my UK one open yesterday, very smart piece of kit although moving from an S8 there were no real surprises.
I popped my work SIM in alongside my personal one to see how it all works, the dual SIM functionality is really really good. Very impressed with the way that it works, gives 2 whatsapps, etc. Would definitely recommend.
Thanks to everyone that responded and helped.
