The easiest way to sim unlock your xperia play is to contact Alejandrissimo in the forums. He can sim unlock your phone and unlock the bootloader aswell.
Its a simple precedure where he will do everything remotely. He only charged me 24$ .

I hit him up I didn't get a reply back yet so he probly busy so I was just askin thanks for the help and info
I'm just lil disaponted that I waited to get the r800at thinkin 3g and 4g would work but I will only get edge ohwell at least ill have my xp lol thanks again
Are you going to be using the phone for T-Mobile? Cause that is what I am using my phone with. Even do the lack of 3g was dissapointing, i am near wifi most of the time so its okay. Using this phone as a gaming machine is totally worth it.
Alejandrissimo took about a day to respond. I am sure when he has time he can do it for you. He unlocked both my sim and bootloader for me with little hastle. I truly recommend you wait for him. If not look for Blagus to unlock the phone for you. I believe he also does it aswell.

Hello, i have googled and searched all the threads but to no avail so decided to post another NooB thread!
I bought My arc from O2 on PAYG knowing full well that it was sim locked to this network. Having previously owned a HD2 i thought i could easily install a Open romm on it and it would cure the sim lock on it.
Upon looking into how to go about this i have seen threads on rooting but am unsure weather i will be able to do this on the 02 ROM that is installed on this. is it just a case of following the root guide then finding a general ROM for uk?
to summarise i just want to take the sim lock of so i can put my virgin sim card in and update to the latest android.
Thanks in advance
What happens when you put your Virgin sim in? O2 phones are usually sim-unlocked anyway, but no, rooting or debranding won't remove the lock.
Thanks for the quick reply
It just asks for a sim network unlock pin to enter.
i know i can request this but was told in the shop that i would have to have the phone for a year with O2 before i could do this. I should have just spent 50 pound more and got it sim free. i really thought that i could have worked a way around this though!
Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I have found with the Xperia Arc that it was a pain to get it unlocked. For the Orange San Francisco Android phone, someone at Modaco provided a free app that gives you your unlock code when you type in the IEMI number. Easy. On other phones, you often see codes for sale on auction sites, etc.
With the Arc, it seems it isn't anywhere near that easy or quick. In the end I had to get a refund from one online provider because they couldn't get the code (using their cheaper method - and I wasn't willing to pay for their more expensive service). In the end I used cellunlocker.net for a decent price, but it wasn't a pleasant experience from the point of view of not getting any updates on how long it would take (just kept getting told that it would be soon). However, in the end they did email the code and it did work - it just took about 2 weeks
this is what i found out online for you !!
Welcome to O2. Someone will be with you soon.
You're through to Ashton.
Ashton: Hi I'm Ashton. How can I help?
me: hi , i have a pay and go xperia arc and would like it unlocked , how long do i have to have the phone for and how much would it cost ?
Ashton: You've to use the phone on the O2 network for 12 months and then you can get it unlocked for a charge of £15.
pity ur not on contract as they do it straight away for free
Thanks for your replys. I thought it would be just a case of using a workround to install a generic rom and in turn this would take the sim lock off! I may jusy return the phone and buy a sim free version for a bit more. Cheers peeps.

There a guide here detailing how to debrand your Arc.
Just like the play. This is pretty disappointing. Still love the phone though.

sorry for such a newbie question, but if the bootloader is locked, how this guy here can sell the AT&T version and unlock it?

does anyone have any idea? anyway to unlock the ATT ion version out there?

He is probably relying on a service that will get the unlock code but I'm not aware of any that have unlock codes for the ion. Its exclusive to AT&T so I seriously doubt you can get it unlocked for at least a few months. You can't even buy one unlocked in the US for full price.

Yeah, more than likely it'll be pretty much a repeat of the x10a only (since a lot of the ground work done) quicker process. We'll all end up w sum variant of the stock sony rom(or any but att) w custom recovery. I was never able to do much of anything w the stock usa roms, come to think of it not even sure att saw GB, don't think so. eb

But my question is, how long before someone does? The bootloader being locked just bums me out. I really want this phone. And the price is making it really possible for me, but I almost feel like I should just wait even longer for something else, or pay the $200 for a GS III.
I really need to get my hands on the Ion. Has anyone gone into a BB or ATT store to get theirs and seen a demo unit?
I have ... the phone looks and feels great. i've read a few reports of signal issues. i think i'm going to wait a few weeks and get two one for me and one for my girl mid july for the price... and ics coming soon... it's a dopeass phone for sure. i loved the way it felt in my hand the screen is gorgeous. the camera was super fast too... idk it was nice.

This was the answer from the ebay seller:
" I can unlock the phone for $30 extra. It is a factory unlock and not through special ROMS which allows you to keep all stock Sony firmware. It is a permanent factory unlock."
I´m not from the US and I´m looking to buy either a Xperia S or Xperia Ion. As the Ion is newer, would like to go for it. I will be in the US by mid july but still looking to find for a good price for a non-contract and unlocked, but it seems that Ion will be higher anyway. If the unlocking would be a easy thing, I would by the no contract phone at Sony store for example, but it seems I will have to go for the Xperia S
I would be leary of anyone who promises they can unlock the BL at this point. Unfortunately there's absolutely no way of knowing for sure if and when this will happen for the att "unlock not allowed model". eb

From that eBay quote, sounds like he must be selling the international version of the ion(lt28i) not the AT&T ion(lt28at). That's the only way I can think of for the unlocked with Sony factory firmware settings.

I cant say, it just came out and not many devs have purchased it... Ill give it a month for ppl to show up.... I could mess around to find a way but im too busy and im not that professional to find it right away.. But if u listen to me, its the best phone. I worked with sgs3 and ion. ... And i say definitely ion.... Yes sgs3 has ics and lots and lots but i just love ui of ion and its design plus that no samsung phone has ever worked for me for more than 6 months but any sony or sonyericsson worked for me for years i still have the sony z7 and it works super

Google GSM can unlock phone to use on t-mobile $29.99
This guy is advertising that he can unlock the phone for $25
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...-Xperia-ion-LTE-LT28-to-use-with-T-Mobile-USA
The only thing is when you go to purchase it locked to Canada and Rogers so I can not sure about it.
The ion will be one hell of a device if we can just get passed the issue of unlocking for ATT :/ really wish i had an international one just so i can play with it. i really hate the bloat ware they are shipped with. all in all preformance and hardware wise i see the ion staying alive for a few years. longer than what the x10 did in my opinion.

Hello Folks,
I just received my ATT Galaxy S III and was wondering if there is an unlocking tool to unlock the device as I will be travelling overseas and wanted to use my S III without having to pay crazy roaming charges. Since I just got the phone ATT will not unlock it until some time has passed. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I don't know of a tool but there is Unlocking service on web that can unlock Galaxy S3 for a fee. I don't know how much they charge for S3 but they charged $24.99 for Galaxy Note and $14.99 for HTC One X. Here it is:
http://www.cellunlocker.net/unlock-samsung-galaxy-s3-iii.php
They claim they can unlock AT&T Galaxy S3 now.
No unlock tool as of yet.
Ok so I am going to purchase an unlock code from the site above. I have used them for my galaxy s2 skyrocket with success. Now I would like to help out the community by taking a system dump before the unlock and after. If anyone has info on how to do this or what to do please let me know. I have no idea how to go about this process.

even i am in the same situation as you ...i took a risk and went with unlockunit...there is an app u can download from play store....it is 24.99$...they provide u unlock code...they say 1-60 mins but that is not accurate..it will take couple of hours....unlock worked for me...i tried putting tmobile sim and it worked fine....
ATT gave me my unlock codes for free for the S2 when I asked for it. Maybe you want to call them too.
I just tried ATT with my S3 that I purchased at full price. She typed in my imei and said it was not available.
Lets keep this on topic. If u wanna post a guide then make sure its for the sgs3

Anything happen with this unlock? I'm trying to do research on cellunlocker but no infomation whatsoever
Hammer unlocks did my friends AT&T galaxy S III. It took under an hour to get the code back.
how much do hammer unlocks charge?
AT&T just gave me my code today. so try them again, maybe because the 30 day window has passed.

Cheapest price I've found
I haven't found a free tool as of yet but the cheapest unlock I've found is $19. It is on ebay from the user "aprivate". Sorry I'm a noob so I can't post the link but pm me for it if you can't find it. Hope that helps!

Just wanted to say thanks. I thought the last thing AT&T would do was give me an unlock code for my Galaxy S3, which is about 2-3 weeks old. But I went online and chatted with them and got the code. The first guy gave me the PUK unlock code which was wrong. Then then next guy knew exactly what I wanted and asked me for my IMEI number and I just found that when I pulled the battery out. He gave me a code, I found an old non-AT&T SIM which I cut down and popped into the phone and entered the code. It took about 30 seconds but it then said I was unlocked.
My account is about 4 years old and have been through 2 prior phones with AT&T. I don't know if this makes a difference in whether or not they will give you an unlock code but you should try! I just told them I was going to travel overseas and need to use another SIM. No hassles!
Can you unlock iPhones also?

From the unlock thread for the simply Sony can unlock it if you email them from what I've read. Some got it some didn't best bet is to read that thread understand what you need to say then get the phone try it if you cannot get it return it you have 30 days

The best thing I would suggest is to find a LT28i seeing as it hast the LTE radio and is carrier unlocked. Not cheap but seems to be the only real way. Very few have managed to get the ATT unlocked if at all. May change in the future though.

I'm giving my incredible 2 to my friend who has T-mobile and i flashed cm9 global because it's a gsm default rom and it won't connect to any network i tried putting in the T-mobile apns and they won't show up, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you have the sim unlocked with Verizon before you left their service?
I still have there service i just upgraded phones and i gave my inc2 to one of my friends and no i haven't got it unlocked..

You'll need to call global support and get the unlock code for your sim.
Aye, but I'm not sure Verizon's policy on unlocking the SIM on an unactivated phone. You may have to activate the Inc2 again before they will unlock it.
Maybe someone else knows the policy more and can chime in...

They will unlock one phone per year, shouldn't have to activate it. Please let me know if you can get hspa+ on it once you've done it... For the life of me, I cant get mine to work.
I'm having a similar problem with an Incredible 2 for a friend. Flashed CM9. He was unlocked already, so he can get phone, but not data. I'll write up a post about it, but I'm still interested in this thread.

My girlfriend has my old inc2 and she is with tmobile. I just paid one of those sites 10$ for a unlock code and entered in tmobile's apn's and it has data. But with the inc2 being cdma radios and tmobile uses gsm it will only get edge "2g" connection.
I recently unlocked 2 Inc2s in anticipation of moving them to t-mobile. They were both out of contract but still activated, and my first call to global support ended with the woman telling me, bluntly, that Verizon doesn't unlock phones period. I had been telling her that we intended to give them to family members who weren't on Verizon after we upgrade to new phones. No dice.
Not being one to give up, I waited a few minutes, called back and said that we would be traveling to Europe and wanted to be able to use our phones on a local carrier while we were there. No problem, I was given the 2 unlock codes immediately.
So if/when you call, that's probably the best story to use. As soon as they hear that the phones will be going to another carrier, they have no incentive to help.
Ok i finally got the unlock code for it and i was running viper 1.20 and it told me to use the code so i put it in and it said invalid code so i returned to the stock rom and now i don't know what to do, like i don't know where to put the code in at..
Nevermind guys i finally got it unlocked and T-mobile is working fine on it
