Girlfriend got pissed and threw my phone at the wall.Screen doesnt work at all now and is super shattered.Im rooted and have CWM recovery and I want to get the data off the phones storage.I know you could do this with adb but i dont have it installed. If some one could just tell me the button presses to get into mounts and storage in recovery it would be greatly appreciated.
...what if you just turn the phone on and, ya know, plug it into your computer?
When I do that I get the internal and external storage under the phone device without having to tell it to mount anything. Then you can yank all your data off.
Or I'm missing something?
Sorry, don't have cwm installed.
Jump on irc (sticky at the top) and be very polite and precise about what you need.
Don't appear newbish, or they'll bite your head off
I'm sure someone will give you the keypress combination in no time.
First, get rid of the girlfriend, then worry about fixing your phone. Life's too short to mess with crazy chicks.

So my wife's epic is on EL30 (no FC09 yet, I've checked) and almost every time someone calls her and she answers, the screen goes black and will not turn on to be able to press anything. Also she cannot hear anything the person is saying on the phone but they can hear her. The screen comes back on when the person hangs up on the other end. Any suggestions?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
It may be a stupid question but is the phone to her ear when it won't turn on? Cuz its not supposed to... also if she is using the 100 mhz frequency try disabling that frequency and using 200 as the min.

If you have insurance bring it into sprint... sounds like maybe a malfunctioning proximity sensor... that doesn't really explain the sound issue though... again that also sounds hardware related (seens how your on stock rom). No insurance? Great videos on how to take this phone apart... take it apart and look for any loose ribbons or anything...

My phone was bought off Craigslist and I can't afford a new phone my hardware power button got conductive oil inside of it now whenever pressed it acts like. Held and hard restarts, I found an app called any unlock or something like that on the market my problem is when my phone sleeps it kills the process and I cant wake it is there a Dev who can help me make this program start in foreground I read about it but am clueless so I could really use help also if anyone knows where I can order the hardware button part that would be killer cause I could pay a shop to do the circuit soldering, I use this as my work phone and am worried I as I need to invest 500 into tools for work this month and can't afford repair, also my phone is on boost so there is no warranty, I can not take it to sprint, thank you

That sounds good but with it is now I'm not sure I can get it into download or recovery, I can't remember the buttons off the top of my head, but if I can that sounds like a good temp solution, thanks ... do you know if there is a one click Odin for that and if I can just flash it over stock rooted el29 also if its ice based apn settings are an issue for me I need to be able to change them to boost mobiles, I contacted a store that does button soldering and replacement so I may give that a shot on Friday

Woke up today and my power button is somewhat unresponsive (could not get phone to wake up) . I wasn't sure what was going on so I thought maybe it was software related. I tried to Odin OC to el26, el29 and even ek02 with nothing but FAILS. I then used Odin to do a successful manual restore the el26 kernel. Once I was in the el26 kernel the power button is still unresponsive but I can still navigate through the menu. I cannot install any rooms but I can restore backups.
Can I do something to restore the ability to Odin OC?

Why take the chance unless you cant afford it?

It sounds almost like your power button got stuck in the depressed position and all your attempts to use it got it freed up. Have you gotten anything sticky on it? Spilled soda or food on your hands etc? If you have the knowledge and skills to take the housing apart, I would take it apart and use a small amount of high% rubbing alcohol, preferably 90%+ and clean the internals of your power button and the exterior of the button itself as well as the housing inside and around the power button port. I had something similar happen on my og evo when my oldest son got jelly fingers all over it and some jelly got in-between the housing and power button and when it dried it got stuck to where it was really hard to press, I took it apart and cleaned it with alcohol and now its like new you'd never know it was ever stuck. It could also have gotten some pocket lint, dust or sand/dirt in there causing it to get jammed so cleaning it may be a good option anyways. Even if you clean it and it occurs again you can eliminate that as a source and then look at potential hardware issue/failure or software issues. Usually the power button goes out from physical damage from pressing it so many times using recovery and waking the phone, and pressing it too hard when trying to use Odin mode or recovery, I've seen several threads around here from ppl having the same issue where their button broke from heavy use.

Since December I've been running CM10 on my GS-III with little to no issues. I flash CM 10.1 mid January and even though it was an unstable nightly it was very stable.
Flashing the nightlies as they became available with no issues at all.
Then today my phone starts slowing down and froze up.
Keep in mind that I hadn't flashed a nightly in like a day or 2 do I had been using the past nightly as a daily driver.
When my phone decided to freeze I rebooted it and it booted just fine.
About 2 minutes in the screen goes black. Holding the power button it's unresponsive.
Now my phone is completely unresponsive to all button presses. I've tried the 3 button combos for recovery and download mode with no luck. I've even held the buttons for a full minute but nothing is working.
Is my phone dead or is there a possibility of resurrecting it?

Are you positive the battery hasn't died. That would be the first thing I would check. Even if it showed it was charging doesn't mean the battery is good. I'm not trying to be insulting either by asking this. I'm a equipment tech at a large semiconductor company and you wouldn't believe the number of times the fix was as simple as turning a breaker back on when another tech wanted to replace something major. #1 rule of troubleshooting: Is there power. #2 rule: Double check rule #1. Sounds silly, but it is the easiest thing to overlook. Good luck and I hope it's as simple as a battery.

No you're not insulting by asking that. I use to record music and when something wasn't wasn't working that's the first thing we asked and re asked.
Unfortunately I do believe I checked that out. When I plug in a charger it doesn't even show me a battery charging logo.
I have noticed that when I pull out the battery and connect the charger the led turns red.
I'll see if i can't swap batteries with one of my friends and see if that helps.

Flash STOCK or different ROM (Don't forget kernel too) think the issue is with the Cyanogenmod, mine did something similar, when screen went dark it took literally 5-10 Power button presses to wake the phone up, sometimes it wouldn't respond, other soft keys only would light up, Make backup, Wipe, install, check everything, that what I would do

I don't know if you have to pay a deductible but Samsung is supposedly replacing galaxy s3 for free because there is a known defect which cause the motherboard to go bad. My friend's was a Verizon model and they just replaced it free.

Yea that did work for the GS3 no matter what the phone was under. Frozen, Aroma Freeze, Recovery, App crashes. No matter what on the GS3 if you held the power button down it would reboot the phone. If you were in recovery and it froze during an installation all you had to do was hold the power down and it would just reboot back to the recovery. But on this phone for some reason or another you cant.
Sick of this community, no matter what someone has to bash on someone else's queston. Peoples internet mentality is just rude plain and simple.
Hopefully I answered you, I still have not been able to locate which combinations of buttons that allows us to, but if I do i'll PM you just incase someone else's butt gets hurt.
