Just wondering if there are any amperage and/or voltage issues with using the Palm Pre's car charger with the ET4G. I seem to recall people poo-pooing using the Pre's chargers with the Epic because the Pre required higher amperage to charge, but what's the story with the ET4G?
Your phone has hardware to only accept what is necessary to charge. It won't allow more. So it will be fine.

ok thanks. I used the Palm Pre car charger for over a year w/out incident with my Epic so I was inclined to think most the stuff posted on here was just a lot of knee-jerk hysteria.
Mine works great...
Mine too....

Plugged in my Epic Touch to charge today and it wouldn't charge. Used a few different cords, and different outlets. Then tried my HP touchpad charger and it worked. Looks like I got a bad wall charger. Although, it was working last night. Anybody else?
Now that I've tested it some more, it's just REALLY finniky about being plugged in. It has to be plugged in at the perfect depth, somewhat at an angle even. Anyone else notice this? Bad charger?
Got my phone through Wirefly... surely I won't have to return the whole phone just to have this replaced?
I wouldn't even bother assuming i had another charger. The block Samsung charger looks just like the Hong Kong ones from ebay that you can buy for 3.99 each.
Well this one is supposed to be "super duper fast charger" so what kind of numbers (ohms/amps/jiggabats) am I supposed to look for when buying a new one. I know last night I had it on my old Epic charger and it took over 4 hours to charge to 100% from 82%.
Also, I know it's been mentioned before, but this thing is UNUSABLE when it's plugged in to charge. at least with the stock charger.
My samsung charger makes the phones touch sensitivity go thru the roof. Opens applications and menu's and carries out commands and such. It also creates lag switching between screens. Not an issue when I have my HTC Evo charger hooked up to it though. I'm just exchanging the whole phone and charger combo to be safe.

Really? I haven't even opened my stock charger and cable because I have so many others but I'm using a wall charger only with a Sprint label on it (got it doing some phone trading along the way) and the phone flies just like it does not on the charger.
The one that comes on the box gives the phone the major blues while charging

This is horrible news ... my epic charger is half broken..
Using a HTC charger and it works flawless I wont even try to use the Sammy ones especially for DLing roms or for odin
Alas my sammy charger does not work either. I walked in to BB and they handed me a usb charging block branded HTC, since they didnt have any epics left.
Yes but what about speed of charge? The stock charger is supposed to be a quick charger.

Like I said in an earlier post, I haven't even opened the stock charger...so you can't use the phone with it charging with the stock..its that bad?
I've had the phone since Monday. Last night, now that we have a stock kernel, I went ahead and rooted my phone.
Today, on three occasions (requiring reboot) my phone had what I can only describe as a touchscreen freak-out. The image twitches and jumps around even when not being touched. When it is touched, it's entirely unusable. Apps not even close to your finger open and close with a quickness. I've already sent a few very fun swype text messages, as you might imagine.
I migrated from the OG Epic and never had any issue like this. Lack of responsiveness when dirty, but not total madness. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Is it just a matter of needing to get a new phone?
Thanks for any advice!
Were you plugged into the Samsung wall charger with the Samsung provided cable at the time?

I think I was... Go on...
Happened to me today too. It was the OEM HTC EVO 4g charger causing it.

So this is a known issue? I hadn't seen it mentioned before.
It's a known issue. Some people claim to have good results with a different cable, some with a different charger. One theory is that the wall charger is over-rated and that extra juice is making it go wonky. USB charging doesn't seem to be affected by it. The effect seems to decrease the closer to 100% charge you get. It's a known problem on a wide variety of devices from a wide variety of manufacturers and aside from your cable and/or charger your own local power may have something to do with it. A software update can fix it as it has in the past on a wide variety of devices. Not everyone has this problem all the time. YMMV
I would suggest buying an OEM blackberry charger from Amazon for like 7 bucks. That's what I used on my epic and what I'm using now on my epic touch. The charger that came with this phone is still sitting in the box.

Hmm, I've had the problem with different chargers other than the one that came with the phone.

I've been using the charger that came with a bluetooth ear piece, and I have no issues whatsoever.
Although, I normally charge through USB.
Not sure that's what you call it, but when I charge my phone and don't leave it in a certain spot it'll stop charging, and the cord is really lose when its connected. Any way to fix it?

It's not the Dinc but it might guide you.

I am having that same problem with my phone.
Both of our dincs were doing the same thing. However we (wife and I) noticed our car chargers worked just fine but not our wall chargers at home. They were loose and would only charge in certain positions. After buying 2 new wall chargers on Amazon all is well again.
So just food for thought, maybe it's just your charger?

It could be I don't have the original one so I might look for one and see if that works

Sorry to post slightly off topic... But does anyone know of a USB charger that will actually work with an Android tablet?
I've tried two do far that advertise a power output of 2.1 amps, but tablets won't charge, and upon testing with a voltage meter, I find that they only put out .75 amps.
I ask because Sprint doesn't offer a car charger for the ZTE Optik yet, so I'm on my own!
Any suggestions?

I would try a small power inverter. Then just plug in the wall charger to it.

Google / EBay is USB cable or car charger for a HP touch pad or Blackberry Playbook. Those are the charger I use to charge my E4GT.

Thanks...
All the adapters I see that claim they are compatible with the Touchpad also claim they are compatible with various Android tablets...
Chargers that will charge an iPad2 will NOT provide more than a .5amp charge to an Android tablet, even though they have the same power requirements.
Anything that works for our phones won't provide enough power to charge a tablet.
Its getting rather frustrating.
So no matter where I look, I cannot find good chargers for my GN2. Here I was thinking that I'd be able to use my 10+ white brick crapple charging blocks at 1A and here my awesome GN2 uses a 2A.
Now I understand that Apple swayed away from yet another standard and the pins need to be shorted in almost all car chargers in order for anything other than an apple device to accept an AC charge. Awesome.
I'm very happy that this huge battery needs a 2A charger but I'm back at square one. I need chargers... I need a lot. Please somebody point me in the right direction on what every android peep is doing to charge their phones on fast chargers... I am mostly in need of a car charger. Every forum I look at, the thread ends with no definitive answer...
Much thanks.

This is the charger that I use for my car charging needs. Ive had it for a couple if years and it has worked flawlessly. It also has an extra usb port for charging a 2nd device. I havent had any quality issues with mine like some of the reviewers have claimed. This works brilliantly with my Note 2. It can output up to 4 amps and charges 2 Note 2's with max screen brightness and GPS with no problem.

u have to ask but radio shack has a decent one and they are having a sale. and no i dont work for them lol. its a 2A 4port charger. also keep in mind the 1A will work its just not a rapid charger. as an over night charger it will still have enough.
Needs to be moved to Q&A section
