From what i know...No you can't use Rom Manager to flash CWM. You have to flash a custom kernel and they seem kinda buggy right now. I'm just rooted with no CWM.
thank you much appreciated!!good thing i asked!!!

I rooted and I have CWM and I can get into recovery (power + vol up).
QUESTION: I know I can flash zip files, but having Rom Manager Pro, I can download available roms via Rom Manager. When I click on download roms, it says I have to install CWM (press install), since I already have CWM, should I use this app to install again?

My guess is pressing install will not do anything.

so i've just flash CWM 4.0.0.5. when i manually go to recovery (vol down + power) it ends up in 4.0.0.5 but when i use ROM manager to enter recovery, it goes back into 2.5.X. is there anyway i could make it default into 4.0.0.5 or even make it recognize 4.0.0.5?
never use rom manager to flash rom/nandbackup/restore.always use recovery.
oh how come? i've been using it for the past few months and havent had a problem

it doesn't cause you problem regularly but when it does it's gonna cost you high..like your recovery can get corrupted, usb brick, misc partition error, bootloop etc.
i am saying this from experience and lot's of user got into trouble by using rom-manager.anyway it's just a tips do whatever you think best for your device
you can also check this link..why you don't wanna use rom manager
oh okay. wouldnt want any of them to happen to my phone. thank you sir.
but i do like how i'm able to name the backup. is there anyone to do that via CMW? or do i have to back up then rename it via file manager of some sort?
Did you mean nandbackup?if so,after take the backup rename it as you want via file explorer.
yea i did mean nandbackup. and thanks.
I rooted my phone earlier today using Chainfire's CF auto root. Rooted and everything worked fine. So was looking around today and found some ROMs I want to try. I downloaded Rom Manager to make a backup, but every time I try to do a backup, it says need clockwork mod recovery.
I click install.
Then it brings me to something that says "Flash ClockworkMod Touch" under "Recovery".
But then under "Flash Clockworkmod Recovery" it says "Flash Clockworkmod Recovery"
Which do I click? I want this backup so I can flash roms safely.
I wouldntvuse rim manager, but I dont have another suggestion for ya.i woukd wait until smarter minds wake uo and install twrp asap.

The reason it says that is because there are two diff versions of cwm available. One is the regular version and the other "touch" version. The touch version cost money while the other version is free. Rom Manager will work to flash cwm. I helped test it for koush:thumbup: personally I prefer twrp but it really doesnt matter.
With that being said I wouldnt use rom manager for anything else other than flashing the recovery. Do all your rom flashing, backing up...ect in recovery manually. Cheers and good luck:beer:

I wouldn't use ROM manager for anything accept flashing a recovery as stated above. That being said I would highly recommend grabbing goo manager from the market and flashing twrp recovery. Once done, boot in recovery using goo manager or 3 button combo(volume up+power+home button). Make a backup manually in recovery.
Use Goo Manager. It will allow you to install TWRP, which is touch and free, and better the CWM IMO.

Okay, so I got GooManager.
I have no ROMs or anything but if I click "flash ROMs" and "Try to find one for me" it pulls something, but I don't know what.
Is that what I'm looking for?
Sorry, first time rooting/trying to flash.
No. Don't use it to flash ROMs or backups or anything like that. Just use it to flash twrp and boot in recovery. When in the app hit menu then install open script recovery. Let it install then choose the reboot recovery option. Now you can make a backup and flash ROMs manually in recovery.

Okay I backed it up.
Going to follow the steps to get CleanROM, but I have one last question. When uploading the CleanROM file to the phone, do I unzip it first, or leave it as is?
Leave it as is.

You can't flash roms using the stock recovery, only custom recoveries allow it... you'll need to install a custom recovery to install any custom roms

Not for flashing custom roms.... that's inky for .tar not .zip files... if you want a custom Rom you will have to install a custom recovery, no way around it

Either one is fine, but imo, twrp is much nice and the recent update has made it even better... you can download goo manager and install it from there.. just download goo manager from play store and hit the menu button and choose install open script recovery.. then boot straight into recovery and install the Rom of your choice... ( I say boot straight into recovery because I don't know how you rooted your phone and Samsung has a script that reinstalls the stock recovery when you reboot, so make sure you have a rim downloaded and ready to go before installing the recovery)

I have the international LG Optimus G..
Can I use FreeGee for any thing ?
Will it give me CWM ?
seriously, how have you not found the info you need by searching? It's not like you're new either -.-
Anyway, it lets you unlock bootloader, gives you twrp which is a prefectly good replacement for cwm.
Cm 10.1 can be found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229806 and http://get.cm/?device=e975
They are not the same. I'm using the one by chad

Yes, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212323&highlight=freegee
To boot into recovery:
Power off
press volum UP + power, this gets you to the fastboot menu.
Now, press volume down TWICE, then Power.
Yes, only those two CM 10.1 so far. When most of the bugs they have are sorted out I think we can expect some different ones to show up (slim bean, pacman etc. I really don't know though)

Will I be able to flash new bootamimations ect like on Samsung Galaxy S3 with CWM ?
Is it posible to do full backup in TWRP and always have options to go back to stock rom ?
Will the ROM MANAGER backup/ Restore work or only in TWRP ?
Can I Lock bootloader again if it needs to be repaired ?
I think so, look in the theme & apps section. I tried changing the font through rom toolbox pro, gave me a softbrick. so be cautious.
Yes, you can always make a nandroid backup when you want. Just like cwm recovery
Well, rom manager is based on cwm, but nandroids should work regardless, you can set twrp as your recovery in rom manager.
I think you can relock the bootloader by using the kdz method to restore your phone to stock. Pretty sure its been asked before.
You can NOT use twrp recoveries in cwm, and vice versa!! Also, I have no idea how to get back twrp after flashing to cwm recovery without using a kdz recovery. Which basically wipes your phone.

The CWM you flashed is a temporary one.
When you restart the phone into recovery, it goes into the original Samsung recovery, right? If so, then just re-flash the CWM. You'll need to do this every time to go into CWM.

yeah i'm know that, but when im enter CWM not loaded, what version do you use ? give me please
I use the one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141395
(that thread says version 6.0.2.8, but when I run it it says 6.0.4.5)
I do not understand what you mean by "when im enter CWM not loaded". You need to flash the zip every time you want to run CWM, like you did the first time - somebody should correct me if I'm wrong.

thanks for try to help , problem is when im get in to samsung recovery and flash temporary CWM recovery, it won't loaded, just black screen and then my phone restart.
what ROM do you use ?
when I was in stock MF1 I installed 6.0.2.8 (Shaaan thread, TY BTW) and it was temporary.
Then I flashed CM10.2 which installed me a new version of CWM (6.0.4.6) which is now persistent.
Can you develop a little bit more about your software configuration please ? ROM ? kernel ?
I have a similar problem. After i flashed cm 10.1 recovery dissapeared. I don't have cwm neither stock recovery. Any way to flash it via odin?
