HTC Desire internan memory issue

Hi everyone, I have a question. I have updated my Desire to Froyo (original, and no root)
All the apps say that the internal memory is 147mb more or less, so I can't install games and apps that i need.
I want to root my phone but i guess i should downgrade Hboot since its version is 0.92.
My question is that can rooted Desire and custom roms give me more internal memory?
Thanks for your attention
I don't know what games you play, but the internal memory of the Desire should hold 30-50 apps before memory runs out.
If you root, create a ETX3 partition on your SDCard and use a ROM that uses APP2SD (or APP2SD+), then all your apps will first be stored inside the EXT3 partition. When that is full, Android will start using internal memory.
I run about 40 apps on my phone which use about 150Mb out of a partition of 512 Mb.
Keep in mind that creating a EXT3 partition will wipe all data from your SDCard. So make a backup first.
I didnt root my phone, it has original froyo 2.2, when i return my phone to factory settings, it gives me 146mb free internal memory, and i can only install 4-5 games and some apps then i am starting to have memory problem..
Will u please help me to get rid off this problem. I am totally new in this rooting processes. Finally, my phone's hboot version is 0,92.. i think i should downgrade it but i dont know how to?
The best way to root is by unrevoked.com/recovery method..just search in this forum....but first you need to downgrade your hboot version...
This is why...you have only the froyo app2sd (fat) and not the older app2sd+ (ext3)
the most games and apps don´t have updated to froyo app2sd and so it installs in phone memory....instead of sd
but i see you have hboot 0.92..so be sure you use the right rooting method....eg this (but i think there are more..search)

I have installed opendesire 3.4.2 rom, I didnt change the original radio. And rooted my desire with unrevoked3...

about the free space i have left on my dezire

so i post about a week and a half ago a thread about the fact that almost every app that i install is being installed to my internal memory instead the external memory.
so someone suggested me the app move2sd which allows you to choose where all the apps you download will be installed(whether its external or internal)
so i used it and works great all the app are installed at the external memory
but
most of the apps data and other stuff still being stored at the internal memory which i need free for the operator it self to work(the android and everything that connects to it)
so for that i did a partition when i reinstalled my rom
i did a partition of app2sd that it has like 500 mb for all the data of the apps and games but
for some reason it all goes to the internal memory that only have 140 mb and so i cant get any sms and i cant download anything.
btw i have miui rom if matters some how
plz help me its important
thx
Sounds like A2SD isn't working properly - if you go to Settings>System>SD card what does it say in there?
if u mean the space its saying then:
SD card :
11.19 GB free out of 14.32 GB
and the partition:
A2SD:
423 mb free out of 457 mb
plz can someone help with that i need help
Oxygen Hboot, Redux gingerbread rom, problem solved.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
can u explain what u wrote didnt understand anything
if you root your phone you can install a custom rom which comes with various advantages:
- no htc apps = more space
- ability to extend the phone's app space onto the sd card = much more space
- other/better ways to do app2sd = more space
I personally use ReDux RC6 and Im very happy with it. The process is not too complicated and well documented...
i already done it when i installed my rom
and i still dont have space on my internal memory
there is no way that i can do that all the data of the apps and games will also go to the sd card???
What you need to do is download the oxygen Hboot and apply it through fastboot, install redux rc6, and you should have about 295mb free for apps, which I find is plenty, look up some guides for S-off and table partitions changes there is plenty out there.

dude can u tell me what is:
1)oxygen hboot
2)redux rc6
3)S-off

1) Oxygen Hboot is available here (take a read first) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882758
2) Redux RC6 is the ROM and can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896213
3) See answer one which has a description of S-off in the thread
so basically you are saying that i have to change my rom and delete everything???
cant do something on this rom that will change the place it saves everything??

A2SD not found

Hi everyone.
After using pretty much all the main roms, I've decided to revert back to Teppic's pre-rooted stock Froyo rom.
I've installed his ROM and apps2sd + v1.4 with no problems. I presume apps2sd is clearly working (internal memory is 99mb after installing about 20 apps) however, when using Terminal Emulator the following occurs:
Su
A2sd cachesd
A2sd: not found
A2sd
A2sd: not found
I've tried searching everywhere and cannot find an answer. It obviously means a2sd is not installed, but who can explain the internal memory?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
a2sd check
or a2sd reinstall
Same problem...a2sd not found
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have the same problem but with LeeDroid. Reason is my internal memory is almost 0 with perhaps 20 applications installed. I do have a2sd diskinfo in QSI but I feel it's like it works only half the time with the a2sd functions :/
Partition your sd-card again on this way:
http://leedroid.com/bravo-wiki/partitioning-your-sd-card-ready-for-a2sd
not found
I have the same problem on Gingervillain with a partition sd..
any idea?
I get "permission denied"!
EDIT: My bad! I forgot to enter "su" first. But I'm now getting "not found".

Something weird about MIUI 'n A2SD

Hello Xda'ers,
Recently I installed the MIUI 1.10.8 ROM.
I noticed that A2SD said 0.00 so I partitioned it.
Now it says 458MB at the A2SD section.
But what to do now?
Can't move a lot of apps to SD.
With kindest regards,
Mendel
youve kind of answered your own question, just move the apps that you CAN move to the sd
but if youre really looking for lots of space try data2sd
Hey Elliot,
First of all thanks for the quick response.
Do you mean move to SD like to old way? (Select app -> move to SD)
Because it doesn't say there is more space then normal (On the bottom there is a bar of internal memory). When I move apps to SD it's no different then else (like on stock rom).
if you are looking to make your internal memory increase, then you need data2sd
i would recommend the supernova rom for that
data2sd will basically use an extpartition on your sd card as internal memory
p.s. you can always use the thanks button to say thanks
I figured it out.
I had to activate it in the terminal.
Now i can have infinite apps
Can't find the thanks button, im a noob. where is it?
How to activate A2SD+ in MIUI 1-12.23 via terminal?
Hi XDA,
Its my 1st post on the forum.
My Phone: HTC Desire GSM on Orange.
Rooted. S-Off. MIUI 1-12.23.
Kerell: 2.6.3.7.6-cyangenmod-g8913be3
Baseband: 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30
I have recently installed MIUI ROM version 1-12. to 23. I have a 16GB SD partitioned ext3 using Revolutionary recovery. (I used Revolutionary to gain S-OFF)
The Partition went smooth, I created 1.5gb ext3 and 64mb swap.
When booted into MIUI it registers as A2SD+ 1.5GB. Success.
I install my apps and run out of internal space at which poitnt I expect my apps to auto install on the ext partition that I had created. This doesn't happen, why?
Ive searched the XDA forums for the answers but have yet to find a solution.
Do I have to activate A2SD via terminal? if so how? What cmds should I enter?
Id be grateful for a guide to activate A2SD on my device.
Thaks guys!
mcshooter
To activate the built in a2sd:
open terminal and run these commands:
su
a2sd install

Hope this helps mate

my desire won't root

Hey,
I folowed this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
but it gives an error when rooting:
Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?
What do i have to do to fix this?
Jaapie
Did you upgraded to gingerbread before rooting? If yes, you have to use this tool:
http://revolutionary.io
Read documentary side before doing anything.
I've got Android version 2.2.
I'm reading your documentary now
I'm going to use the tool now,
my phones has:
HTC Desire
bravo-0.93.0001
Android 2.2
Lets hope!
Okay,
The cmd disapeared and my phone is still in the boot menu.
What do i do now?
Can i root my phone now?
Thanks for the help!
------------------------------
Okay, i tried to root, it didn't give any error, it just ends with: done..
But when it restart my phone is just exactly the same as before, how do i know it rooted succesfully?
If you have the superuser app, you're rooted
Revolutionary does give you root access. After using this tool, you have to flash the zip from documentary page in recovery.
SwiftKeyed from CM7 using Transparent XDA App
Thanks for all the help!
It worked, i installed a rom and it works great.
I have only 1 more problem, the main reason i rooted my phone was because i had too low internal storage on my phone, i have like 34 mb to instal apps!
Some apps can be put on your sd-card, but after installing 2 apps i couldn't download a 3th! So i still can't do anything with my new rom xD.
So my question is if you know how i can use my SD card of 3 gig to save all my apps and maybe even my ROM!
I hope you guy's can help me!

Create an EXT partition on your sdcard. Then install an A2SD+ or Data2EXT rom.

Good to know here is one should only use data2sd rom with an sd card which has minimum class 6. It may work with a very good class 4, but with class one is on the safe sid.

Well i tried doing that with the ROM manager, but it gives an error in the recovery:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
Waiting for SD Card to mount (20s)
SD Card mounted...
Verifying SD Card marker...
SD Card marker not found...
Error verifying extendedcommand.
Error processing ROM Manager script. Please verify you have ROM Manager v4.4.0.0 or higher installed.
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue
So i go to the ROM Manager info to see what version it is and its: 4.3.2.3
And then i go to the app store to download ROM Manager so it gets the new version and now got 4.5!
I tried again to partitioning the SD card and now i believe it worked!
I now have 102 MB to put apps on istead of 32 Mb!
Great! Thanks guy's, now i can finally use my phone!
Jaapie
