[Q] Rooted HTC Desire (GSM) Cm7 but FC in 3.1.3 market - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone~ I am a Hong Kong user and i got a problem on the new market 3.1.3
My desire is rooted, S-off and in using Cm7 (7.0.3-Desire)
Around a month ago, I found that the market icon is changed into "3D-market icon" . I really surprise that the market is updated AUTOMATICALLY Then, the nightmare has started...
First, the market is loading and pop-out Accept or Decline, of course i choose Accept~
Second, the market is loading the User-Interface. and then Force Close!!!!
I try to do everything to turn everything back to normal (2.3.6 market), therefore I found that I can uninstall the update in setting-> application-> market.
Then the market is back to normal~~
Unfortunately, Today... I can not do the "uninstall the update" because the update speed is so fast!!! I mean the market become updated to 3.1.3 when i just launch about 20seconds
What is the problem...? I search about the keyword about "3.1.3 market Cm7" and found many people have the same problem but i don't know how to fix it (For example, how to change the resolution of the screen?)
(My English is not good...plx help me and hope you know what i am saying and finally thx for your helping...)

The same for me. And I don't want to give up CM7

did you guys tried to go into settings/applications and delete market data and cache? even reboot?
if u dont want the auto update anymore, u can freeze with titanium backup the app "market updater"

Thx for helping~ I checked that there is no cache in the market
Should I try clear data?
Moreover, could you quote more information about "titanium backup" ? I totally don't know what is the important of it.

clear data too..u only lost the market settings, which u can set again later anyway
the otehr option, if the above doesn't work, is to uninstall update, and with titanium backups choice "Market Updater" click on it and choice block or frize..so that app will no longer auto update ur market

you said uninstall update... but I found that the market updater (4.00KB) is not allow me to uninstall it, there is no uninstall button.
Anyway~ I download titanium backup and try to freeze the market updater and i successfully get into the market and no update happen Hope this can fix the problem forever~~ Thx bro~
Btw, i would like to know that will Cm7 release the most updated G-app package for us ? haha~

Had the same problem... There is a problem with some languages/keyboard.
Go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Select language and choose English (United Kingdom), then try to open tha market app...
It worked for me!

After you choose English(United kingdom), you can launch 3.1.3 market?
Otherwise, I just use titanium backup to freeze the market updater, It seems worked for my desire Cm7

I got same problem before.. fixed by wipe all data, cache and reinstall the rom. Not sure if it works for you.
Another solution is to find Market version 2 and update it from recovery

Really? Ha
Not for me though. I get the same force close as above (after accepting the download). My logcat shows that it doesnt like my hboot controlled 5 MB cache partition

Do apps from a rom not update in the market?

My question is if I flash a rom and say it has superuser or rom manager. Will that app update like regulare apps I download from the market or is that something I would have to manually update because the market doesnt realy know its there?
I know if I download an app when an update comes out it promps me to update and so forth but when the app is already on the phone from the start what about then?
I am looking for legit answers here no speculations. I have already been speculating since I started flashing roms. The answers seems to be no, especialy since the new gmail app is out and I havnt been prompted to update.
Thanks, Thomas
A lot of the time you can just download them from the market and it will be linked from then on. Sometimes it won't install cuz the app is recognized as a system app. In that case you have a couple options I know of. If you have Titanium, you can either use Market Doctor to re-link the app to the market or if that doesn't work you can remove it with Titanium and just reinstall through the market. Root explorer or ADB are other options for removing system apps. Check in Settings/Applications to see if it will let you uninstall the app. If not, its a system app. Kind of all depends on how the dev put the rom together. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info
Now, if an app is already installed with the rom will it update from the market or do we have to manually update it?

no one? xD
It will show only apps actually dl from market, so needs market link. Manual install won't give link.
You could try titanium backup, has option to fix market link.
If you've had to use market enabler to fake your provider (some countries don't have access to paid apps) paid apps won't normally show in market, unless used market enabler.
Edit: you could also try deleting market cache, reboot into recovery, delete dalvik cache, reboot. Reboot may take a little time. Don't worry.

[Q] Installed apps not showing up in "My Apps" of market

I installed the Stock Rooted Version of today's Update 4.22. I did a complete wipe and used TB to restore all my apps. It has been 7 hours and the apps are still not in "My Apps" Section of the market. I have restarted and cleared the cache on the Market. Anyone else having this issue..
Thanks
Try using Titanium Backup's "Market Doctor".
In TiBu: Menu > More > Market Doctor.
It only works if you have backups that have the Market link intact.
Also, it is safe to Clear Data on the Market app, that sometimes helps.
you could also try TB option to link apps to market

the Clear Data was greyed out on the market app..
Damn cant do it in the free version... Guess its $6.88 for the pro...
Got Pro and tried the Market Doctor and it said it link 33 apps to the market and they didnt show up... is there a time frame?
I am having same issue. If it is any comfort, I have paid TB, ran Market Dr, and the app still don't show up in market.

Clearing the market data can work, but you have to shut down both the market service and Google services, or it won't do any good
I know it sounds odd, but try syncing your Google account. I use a "force sync" toggle from Widgetsoid, but I think Sense has a "Sync All" widget. I don't remember.
I had the same issue one time and I synced then rebooted. One or the other fixed the issue.
It could be the rom, I guess. You can try wiping cache and dalvik (don't wipe data) and then reflash the rom if all else fails.
EDIT: So just opened the market to check for app updates and none of my apps are showing either, except for my purchased apps. I'm on MIUI, so it may just be a coincidence or it may be the market.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
Has anyone Figured out a Solution to this problem... is it the market? or the Update to the EVO? I dont want to redownload all my apps and lose data but I will. I have installed a couple apps over the existing but I noticed my internal storeage went down... I dont want to have double the space used for the same apps

Android market download problems solved :)

This was a big problem for me, and I wasted many many hours trying to solve the problem of the android market, that didn't donwload, update or install anytnhig.
But i found the solution in a forum and my market is working fine now
Epsilonbass from droid forums.net:
"Connect your phone to your computer, set in usb mass storage mode. Look for a hidden folder called ".android_secure" and then delete the file "smdl2tmp1.asec". Unmount and you should be good to go."
And all is working
I don't have smdl2tmp1.asec in that folder
Are you referring to the problem of random things being considered "not compatible" for your phone?
Yeah if you are talking new market (version 3.x) the problems go deeper than that.
Custom dpi (lcd density) causes the incompatible problem.
I went back to market 2.3.6

You don't understand how much I have tested to try to find the reason behind it. I was going to test that tomorrow morning. It's always the last thing.
Is there a way to force the app to download regardless of screen density? My Desire is showing more and more apps as incompatible because I use a density of 200 instead of 240... don't really feel like changing back just for an app install or two.
i solved this problem by clearing data , cache , uninstalling update of Market and rebooting my phone
Thankfully I have a backup of 2.3.6, which appears to be the last version that is even remotely usable.
I regularly have to restore 2.3.6 in order to update an app. Of course after a while the Market updates itself to the latest 3.x version (thanks for that). Usually things work for a while after this update, but eventually there will be an app update that either can't be installed (no install option) or that is flagged as not being available in my country (even though it's already installed. So I have to restore 2.3.6 again and the cycle continues...
I use the default LCD density and clearing the Market cache and data doesn't help.
Bottom line, Market 3.x is just plain buggy.
Google is really messing up with this.

If you use titanium backup you can freeze "market updater" to put an end to that.

Does that just prevent the Market from being updated or does it also stop apps from being updated? I'm assuming it's only the Market. Anyway I'll try it and see what happens, thanks.

Thanks for that suggestion, but the previous suggestion to freeze the market updater is a good solution for me.

No such file, either with computer, or terminal app, or rooted explorer.
But I've finally managed to get rid of this bug, deleting Market data with Titanium Backup, as I could only delete cache in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All Applications > Android Market (which was not enough).
My friend was getting "purchase canceled" error for free apps on Archos honeycomb tablet.
Market version was 1.x but looked like no market I have ever seen. We installed the 3.1.5 from my thunderbolt over his tablet version, and now he can download again.
With the new market not able to update or download new applications.
Wiping market data only tempararily allows downloads.
Marker 2.3.6 is only working.
To prevent auto update, delet or rename marketupdater.apk
It solved my problem.
But, why can't we use the new version?

[Q] Market won't install apps

Hi,
I've got a little problem with my new Wildfire S
I've updated (OTA) to 2.3.5 But now android doesn't want to install apps >_>
Don't get an error.. only the little downloading sign in the top bar wich appears and dissapears within a second.
I've tried Clearing caches/data of google service framework/android market but that wouldn't work.
thanks,
ShadowAS1
same problem here, dont know what to do (
I have the same problem, yesterday we updated our Wildfire and now we cannot install any app from the market. Exactly the same problem as ShadowAS1.
Guys, make a factory reset and it will be ok.
If u r not rooted, u will need to factory reset. If u r rooted, boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache. Hope this helps

This works fine for me, make wipe Dalvik cache.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications.
Open the Download Manager and uninstall the upgrades.
Thanks for your tip rgermanov !! It worked well for me !
