Every time I reboot my Surround it loses it's data and MMS settings. Same thing for any wireless networks I have saved. I have to go back in the HTC Connection app and set up the data connection and go back into settings to set my wireless connection back up.
I first noticed that it was happening a week or two ago. I wrote it off as something related to running Mango RTM. Now that the final release is out and I have been updated to it, the same thing still happens.
Any thoughts before I do a hard reset of my phone and/or restore it back to the NoDo backup?

I did something inadvertently and lost my 3g and data connections. As far as I can see, the settings are all right "Mobile network" is clicked under Wireless and Networks, the Mobile Icon is green -- but suddenly I lost 3g.
Could someone give me a checklist of things to do?
Desparately...
Joe
Have you maybe deleted your APN's?
menu>settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>access point names. Also while in thre check network mode is set to gsm/wcdma auto.
the access point I have is Orange Internet -- with juicedefender-orangeinternet underneath. Should there be another one?
Joe
Turn aeroplane mode on and off, if that doesn't work turn off and remove battery. Sounds like you've got an issue that many had and that I use to have.Do a search for the work around, try data connection issues. It was a pain for many data would occasionally just stop working. The new update apparently fixes it.
I would also try things with juicedefender turned off to see if it is causing any problems.
Have you also checked your network mode isn't set to use 2g only?
tried airplane off and on -- no luck. Ditto with battery out and juice defender disabled.
How do I check if Network mode is set to 2G? And how do I get the new upgrade?
(Many thanks for your help, by the way.)
Joe
I've had exactly the same issue.
First thing I did was delete the APN for the faster TMob speeds and reverted to default. This immediately made it work for a few moments before all data connection was lost.
So I then after trying the various things (ie airplane mode - can't remember what else - maybe switching off juice defender?), I did a factory reset. This solved things - until I reinstalled JD, and then the problem rearose. I ahve since binned JD, and I don't have any issue - just a rapidly decreasing battery level...
I just did a hard reset to switch to gmail!
Is there some way to uninstall juice defender?
Also, I just noticed that when I turn my Desire on, I no longer get the choice to choose HTC Sense -- what could have caused that?
Joe
If you performed a hard reset, then this should have deleted Juice Defender and all your pre-installed apps.
To delete it manually, go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and select Juice Defender from the list and choose the Uninstall option.
To check if you network is set to 2G, go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Network Mode. If it shows GSM only selected, then it is set as 2G, set it to the GSM/WCDMA instead.
For Sense, go to Settings > Applications > Sense UI then clear defaults and force stop, then hit the home button and choose Home when given the option. You can then set it as default and turn it off or on.
Ta for that. 3g is still on, I've uninstalled Juice Defender and still no joy. (It had gone when I did the reset, but I installed it again. Didn't have any problem with it at first.) Strangely, I can't find Sense UI amongst the applications. Could the hard reset have deleted it?
Anyway, its beginning to look like another hard reset tonight, when I have access to wifi....
Joe
Apologies... it would show up as HTC Sense, not Sense UI
You can also try the HomeSwitcher app, to easily switch between launchers: http://www.androlib.com/android.application.ymst-android-homeswitcher-qEw.aspx
Hello,
i have the exact same trouble.... Lost of all data connexion! Wifi is working properly, but in 3G sometime i lose connexion and i m unable to connect back!
Only way to do it is to turn off the phone and turn it back in, and most of the time it works.
The thing i get since 2 days (since the update in fact) is that before i go to bed i surf a bit, its working, then i plug the phone and go to sleep... then on the morning, no more data connexion!
This is REALLY annoying, and i can't figure out why it is behaving like that.... i have APNdroid installed, but when i lost the connexion even if i try to enable/disable it, nothing to do....
Please help!!
Orange?
Any of you guys on Orange by any chance?
My work mate and I both have a desire and lose 3G when at work. We can call our handsets and they both go straight to vm. They also fail sms.
We can only reliably use the handsets on GSM.
When I go home I switch back to GSM/WCDMA auto and all is OK, except my buddy doesn't live far from work so is on the same cell.
We think it's an issue with an Orange 3G mast that serves our area.
Same thing happens with my N97 and I thought it was handset related.
Data Connection Problem
Hey People,
I have a similar problem with my Galaxy S2 too, on Resurrection remix 4.0.3. I have tried everything well almost everything I know about. I have also installed automatic net services from Orange romania. It didn't help too. I believe there are people who can help fix this problem and releases my pain.
Any helpwould be appreciated.
I had the same problem once. It was the EPST settings.
1. Who is your carrier?
2. What rom do you have? In order to edit the EPST settings you need to
a. Know what your doing
b. Have the ORIGINAL sense rom installed.
You will probably need to call your carrier and tell them your data is not working and you believe it to be the EPST settings. To get into these settings, (in the ORIGINAL sense rom) dail ##778#, click edit mode, then type in password (usually 000000), but it depends on ur carrier.
From there it depends on what your carrier needs the settings to be.
I messed with the APNs settings on my phone for weeks and nothing worked. Then i stumbled upon EPST settings and that fixed it. I had to contact someone in upper data communications in Bluegrass Cellular to get the correct settings. So good luck!

Not all towers support 3G or even internet. That could explain that but idk about the calling and sms.
It started yesterday and I don't know why. Go to check my weather, hit update and after about 10 seconds I get a bubble telling me that an unknown connection error ocurred and to try again later. I can make phone calls, send and receive texts, but can't check my weather. If I soft reset it works fine. Today, go to check my weather again and same problem. Been making phone calls and texting all morning without issue. Soft reset and again it works fine. Obviously, something is going wrong with my data connection over time, but what could cause it to just shut down completely requiring a soft reset to fix?
More weirdness. I tried manually turning on my data connection in the Connection Manager and as quickly as I turn it on it turns itself off. WTF! I haven't done/added anything to the phone in a week. Is this something on AT$T's end, could they be blocking me from using data for some reason?
About 2 weeks ago I did some regedit to have the data connection turn off automatically after 5 mins of non-use. It was working fine after that and anytime it needed a data connection it would make it. I don't remember where the setting was to change it back, but I doubt this is the problem because this issue just started yesterday.
I'm on AT&T also, on the new leaked ROM, and I have exactly the same issue. It started about 2-3 weeks ago, and I noticed the connection drops overnight (during the day I have no problems), and it'll only come back after restart or reset. I think it's AT&T's network...

Maybe they work on improving their towers and network lol
T-Mobile does that also.
i get a Could not coonect bubble, and have to manualy enable my data conection. If you guys are Tethering our providers automaticly drop our priority level...Unlimited my ass, they tried to cap me at Edge speed and all i had to do was disable/enable the data conection to blast 3g...
I found the problem, but I still don't know what caused it. I'm leaning towards something done on AT$T's end. I have always had my phone configured to use the AT$T ISP in network properties. Apparently, it no longer likes this setting. Switched back to MediaNet and all is working just fine. Problem is that when I first got the phone I did speed tests using both settings and AT$T ISP was faster, so that's why I set it that way. I can't test it now because it won't stay connected with that setting. Can AT$T block users from a particular connection? I don't tether and the most data I've ever used was 280mb last month. Hardly a reason to block me.
I'm not thethering either, my usage is roughly 600 MB/mo and my network is already set to MediaNet. This problem started recently, didn't have it before.
Looks like it is something going on with AT$T. A number of my friends from different states have reported issues over the past 2 weeks with several having severe connection issues the past few days. These are people on varying devices including iPhones, Blackberrys and smartphones. I hope it is due to AT$T finally upgrading their network and not overload from all the new iPhone users and abusive tetherers.
I have been testing the Trophy for Verizon for a few weeks now, and I only have one lingering problem. The data connection works, but isn't always ready. I can go into an app, and have data, but move to another and not have data.. it is reconnecting, because the data shows up eventually. I can exit the app and come back in, sometimes that works. Is it just because that takes about the same time as a data redial?
Anyways, I was hoping there was possibly a registry fix for this? Is there a spot that is defining when it lets go of the connection?
I know I have tested other Verizon phones, and had similiar data issues. So it may just be the way they have their test phones set up for data?
Thanks.
I don't think there is any solution. Because the cdma connection will automatically go to sleep after a moment of non-data-flow. and when you want to reconnect, it will cost a long time. when I use touch pro cdma of sprint, sometimes, I need to firstly cut down the sleeping connection and then re-connect it. I don't know why.
Hi All,
I am still lumbering on with an old HTC Desire running CM 7.07282011-Nightly and have had no real issues up until a couple of days ago.
Whilst in France (not that that make a lot of difference) the Wi-Fi access stopped working and the phone stopped being able to see any Wi-Fi networks. Basically, it switches itself off after around 30 seconds and cannot pick up any networks. In addiiton, the WiFi MAC address shows as unavailable although teathering via a WiFi hotspot works fine. I was switch between teather and normal Wi-Fi when the problem occurred.
If I go into Settings --> Wireless and Networks -->WiFi setting, then switch on the Wi-Fi, I get the "Turning on" message but then a Sorry warning saying "Application Settings (in process com.andriod.settings is not responding" and I can either "force a close" or "wait". If I wait, the Wi-Fi will simply switches itself off after about 30 seconds.
I did read in another post that this might be to do with the Wi-Fi sleep status but I tried all 3 options (from the menu in the Wi-Fi setting page) but that didn't do anything.
The issue appears to be that that phone has lost the Wi-Fi adaptors MAC address (says unavailable). However, I can still use Wireless Tethering and connect to to the phones WiFi hotspot. I think something has go screwy with the Wi-Fi tethering and Wi-Fi access (as I was switching between both when on my travels), but I need some help in trying to fix it.
Any Help Welcome
Chris
I tried updating to cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-bravo (whuch was the last release version), but still no joy.
Any help welcome
Well, after trying pretty much everything, I had to run a factory reset on the phone. Finally, my Wi-Fi is working again. Of course I now have the ball aching job of setting the phone up and re-installing all my apps again. Google restore is pretty rubbish
Looks like there must have been a config setting that got screwed somewhere. I did take a backup of the ROM and if anyone knows where this might be resolved, I wouldn't mind restoring.
I am on 6.0.1 stock rooted. Wifi was working fine but it would face occasional cutoff or drop i.e my wifi logo would disappear leaving only my mobile data on for approximately 15-20s, 3-4 times a day at random intervals.
I decided to forget both networks (2.4 and 5.0) and connect back both. Instead, I am getting a wifi authentication problem, unable to connect back at all.
-Passwords are correct, double checked it.
-Rebooted router
-Cleared cache from settings and dalvik/cache within twrp
-Did a google and realize it's a common problem, followed this linkhttps://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=78702#c78 post #78. Nothing's working still.
Help? I'm stuck on mobile data for now damm. My computer and other phones connect just fine to my router.
