I've downloaded every version of Telenav available for my Artemis, but none will recognize the built-in GPS...they all want to search for a BT GPS Receiver. Does anyone know of a hack that will make this app recognize COM 4?
Better yet, with my frustration with TomTom 6.02 that comes pre-installed and USA maps, has anyone in the US found a great mapping solution for this device??
I've tried Navigon 5, but it is terribly slow and I don't like the interface all that well. Thanks for any solutions.
I know this is a different application but it does work on the Artemis have a look at Route 66 - The GPS is found automatically by the software and it works quite well, I don't have USA maps but hey are available - Mike
At last - better late than never

trust me it worth it. it still works on uk phone and it understands me very well i can now say dial then a number .1.5 could not recognize my zero and sixes .
best of all we can now use our bluetooth headset to activate it wile the lid is close it also read out text and email headers .
just need to know now if it works on the 3.2 roms
It works very well with AKU 3.2. It's great. I've tested and this was the program we were expcting long time ago.
Where can you get it?
The posts above do not show where the newly released Microsoft Voicecommand V1.6 for WM2005 can be sourced.
It may be available through other suppliers but I found it at:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...806&Ntt=voice command&productId=90635&R=90635
Users who previously purchased V1.5 can purchase this US English version as an upgrade at $9.99 plus VAT. New purchase is $39.99 plus VAT.
I have installed it on my Universal over Ivan's Beta 14 ROM. It works exactly as V1.5 works on WM2003. No tweaking or .dll file changes (other than those done by the install) are required. There are no new features, this release seems only to provide the same functionality as V1.5 but compatibility with WM2005.
Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 does not appear to announce incoming calls for me. I'm using Beta 14 of Ivans rom. And, yes, I have checked the option under the Microsoft Voice Command Applet.
Using Version 1.60.4622.0
My bad. It was only announcing through Bluetooth
VoiceCommand 1.6 and Cyberon
Voicecommand works great on Ivan's AKU, but I prefer Cyberon for making calls as it understands better my tags than vc1.6 reading them from my contacts.
However, when I installed vc1.6, Voice speed dial has stopped responding even when vc1.6 is not enabled.
Any tweaks/suggestions?
Still seems to have a bug with button operation on the universal, the voice dial button will only register as press and hold (which defaults to record unless you change it). There's probably a registry setting for it but I don't know which one.
This might be an obvious question, but how do you get voice command to work with the lid closed? When my uni is closed (and I guess powered off, stand by) the program doesn't respond. when I open the lid a very little so that the screen turns on, voice command works. Any tips?
Thanks
it only works with lid close when you are using button on a bluetooth head set. may be it will be hacked soon so we can use device button whe lid is close
I figured as much. I didn't find the "start menu-settings-buttons" very helpful in that respect. I'll just have to live with it for the time being. Btw, it's the first time I'm using this program and it's pretty awesome.
wrong section?
this should have been posted in general since this application supports pocket pc and smartphones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Bluetooth function not working
Voice Command 1.6 has a great functionality for universal that it will work when universal lid is closed, but bluetooth function (Where it is suppose to annouce incoming calls and other notification via bluetooth) is not working for me, even when the appropriate box are checked. I alos re-paired my headset.
Is there any setting (registry), that I should be checking to see if everything is appropriate.
does it work on windows 6.1 htc touch hd i want to buy but want to make sure it works

Never had a problem with Voice Command and any ROM on Uni and other WM devices. The correct settings that work for me: those with button problems should be disabling locking all buttons, assigning a button for Voice Command (I assigned the one for Voice Recording), setting 'Announce Notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available' through settings, enabling microphone noise reduction and Voila!
I use Voice Command for all sorts of things, when I listen to music over the bluetooth it is a god send. I got Pocket Player set up as a default, so all you have to do is say 'Play Music' and you will be asked to make a selection or play anything etc. The only time where I get a bit of a problem is advancing tracks.
And yes, I do realise it's a VERY old thread
I have a T-mobile Dash and i installed the new Google maps software for smartphones. and picked up a Cellink BTG-7000 bluetooth gps reciever.
I can't get google maps to detect the bluetooth gps
i paired the device and created a outgoing com port to the gps ( says BTG-7000 (com 7)
- ive tried un checking secure connection
- also created an incoming port but does not have gps reciever name in connection...
the google maps software says i have to goto the start - settings - GPS
but i do not have such an option.
Anyone have any ideas?
dave
Hmmm, I am not sure either. I just tried to get it to recognise my bluetooth gps device. Surely someone knows what is going on.
Same issue here
I am having the same issue with my Dash/Bluetooth GPS with Google Maps. There is a FAQ (http://www.google.com/gmm/gmmfaq.html?platform=winm-SmartPhone-T-Mobile+Dash/web#4) that refers to a "Settings->System->GPS" control panel applet that does not exist.
I have the same problem. I think the issue has to do with the initialization of the BT GPS unit and have WM see it first (as GPS) rather than as a BT device that it has paired with. The GPS applet would take care of it by sending it cold boot parameters etc.
Alternatively, you can download a smartphone version of the applet from the GPS manufacturer and run that before running Google Maps. I am not sure but it might fix the problem.
Edit: I wonder if the HTC S620 Variant has the GPS applet in its ROM? If it does, perhaps someone can extract the cab file and share it with the community. That might fix our GPS woes...
I'm running the s620 ROM. There is no GPS applet that I see...
there is no gps
Darn..that sucks.
the settings they tell you to go look at only exist in the PPC version.
Was able to use a BT GPS device to work with Windows LIVE search ( Google Mobile Maps rival )
If GMM can be forced to use a particular comm port it should also work .. anyone ?
HTC S620 phone BTW.
Figured it out !

Umm, same thing I wrote in the other thread:
Folks, is there a reason you guys are so desperate to use GMM? Especially knowing your GPS doesn't work natively without hacks?
Just use Windows Live Search Mobile? IMO, LIGHT YEARS ahead of GMM in terms of usability and fit and finish. AND it'll find your GPS both on GPSID (what GMM uses) as well as COM ports. No hacks. Simple. Straightforward. Elegant.
http://wls.live.com from your mobile phone. Click the Windows Mobile client.
I've played with both and I've found GMM to be much more one handable. Now when I say that I know WLS is one handable but things go slow. You can do things quick with GMM one handed.
Also GMM adds a features that WLS doesn't. One example is that if you go to a contact in your contact list it gives you the option to 'Locate on Google Maps' and it will use the address in the contact information to locate the contact on Google Maps. And I might be wrong but isn't Microsofts Satelite (Not Road Map) imagery older then googles?
GMM cleaner and smaller but lacking big feature
GMM also seems to use much less memory. Great footprint compared to WLS which slows the whole phone down. When I turn off WLS I also have to restart most of the time because the phone can't recoop some of that memory. The one thing I don't like about GMM is that when using the directions feature with GPS, you can only look at your route, or follow your track - not both at the same time like WLS. (IE right before every turn you get a popup with which way to go.) It's much more manual with GMM.
Anyone has Skype installed on HD? I installed the version at official website and it didn't work.
use FRING: you can manage Skype, MSN messenger and many similar apps all in one software and all at the same time.
I installed Skype on my Touch HD today from the Skype website. I used the 2.5 Beta version for Pocket PC (installed to my computer and used ActiveSync to install to internal memory of my HD). I've seen posts where people have been saying they've had issues, but (so far) Skype is working on my HD.
Skype works flawlessly on the HD.
I tested skype from my HD to another HD with skype and the results where
really awesome.. so little lag you dont even notice (we both used Wifi)
To Op: make sure you download for ppc and not smartphone.
I downloaded the PPC version, and try it again but still not working, maybe my HD is chinese version?
echoooooo
I used Skype and just like when i use it at home i get the echo sound and a repeating of dialog

Skype 2.5 didn't work on my HD either (crashed as soon as I tried to call someone), but the earlier 2.2.0.38 works.
Unfortunately I cannot seem to attach it to my post, but maybe you can find it somewhere on the web.
i tried once and the install didn't complete properly, the second time it just ran ok and have no issues with it. They should somewhat fix the interface tho and make it a little more fingerfriendly. support for camera would rule also.
on my Hd works but only if use WiFi, doesn't work via ActiveSync
i have installesd the mobile version from the website and it works fine. No problems at all with it. camera does not work with it but other than that it works fine.
I downloaded the current version from the web site and it works fine on wifi. Does not want to work over activesync (but then why would I want to bother, when I'm using the PC I just use Skype on the PC).
I have not yet tried Skype on the HD with bluetooth - next thing to try ...
I use Nimbuzz.
http://www.nimbuzz.com/en/mobile/mobile/
The new version supports WVGA an can manage a lot of providers like skype, icq, google, StudiVZ (german), yahoo, msn, ... in just one program. I love it

I didn't see the touch HD version listed there....which should I download?
Hey guys, I have Skype 2.5 working nicely except for one thing...
The sound comes out of the REAR speaker instead of the front
I think I may have seen someone mention it before in another thread but couldn't find it again.
Any fixes? Cheers
I am using skype on my HD and it works like clock and it looks really pretty as well...
It works both over wifi and over t-mobile internet connection...
cheers
Haha lucky you - sadly I still have this annoying problem
That's cool man, are you using a stock Touch HD or a particular ROM?
I have Skyp on my HD, it works well over both WiFi & my 3G connection, although as said, the voice comes over the rear speaker
After a bit of digging, a guy from Skype says HTC haven't shared something that would enable them to use the front speaker perfectly, without hacking which he says would cause too many support issues. Nevertheless here's the thread, worth a read..
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=186171&st=20
His suggestion is to install this app called AudioRoute..
http://teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware
.. and I just checked to see if it works, and it does.
So before launching Skype we will have to launch this little program and it puts a small square on your Home screen. After pressing it you get the options of Front, Rear, Speakerphone ON and Exit. Pressing Front and then making a call with Skype has the desired effect.
It is good enough for me until hopefully Skype come up with something
Working with Skype for WM 3.0 on my HD and found no bugs. Everything goes well. WiFi or Edge or 3G all without problems. SMS now included and the most improvement. My provider offered a cheap 3G flatrate but the SMS are very expensive. Without me thanks to skype!
Interesting to see my Skype shows copyright for 2.5 but under version it's 3.0.0.100 to found. Seems they found no time to change the copyright up to today
P.S. The front speaker is active without any additional app. In fact there are front and rear active, allways.
In the Mango previews I read that there was to be added bluetooth compatibility to help with the numerous issues that people have had with connecting with hands free devices.
See this thread if you are unaware of the problem.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-problem/b53c64ce-30ee-4734-9dab-28ce0d561132
My question is:
Does anyone know for certain if this beta version includes the updated bluetooth? I have Mango beta on my Focus and so far I still have not been able to completely connect to my vehicles hands free device. I'm hoping that maybe it just has not been implemented yet.
Microsoft has updated the Bluetooth stack in Windows Phone 7.5, with the new stack receiving Bluetooth SIG approval on the 5th June 2011.
New is Hand-Free Profile 1.5, which should mean better support for Bluetooth car kits. Also updated is the AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Protocol) from version 1.0 to 1.3, which brings track and other meta-data information transmission and playback status information (paused, stopped, etc).
Unfortunately it still does not bring Sim Access Profile.
