UK Omnia 7, non branded.
I was already running Mango RTM and I've just got a Samsung update.

How long did Step 7 take on you phone. That's "7 of 9: INSTALLING UPDATES..."
@ N8ter
It was taken quite a while so i disconnected mine & reconnected and got zune to reconnect & carried on the backup & installation process.
Mine was a TWO stage upgrade.
But it's completed now, i'll leave feed back later,
1st observation was my phone was really hot but only can assume that it was due to how long the phone was connected to my PC.

My failing update on my HD2 went from 10 total steps to 9 today???. And my phone popped up and told me there was an update this morning (which it hasn't done since 7008)? Still fails but the failure code and the response is different.

Are you really trying to update WP7 on an HD2 using MSFT's regular update methods? Wow.
In case you wasn't aware or was miss informed ... WP7 on the HD2 tells Microsoft that its and HD7 then it checks the version of wp7 against their servers and if its older zune will say that your wannabe HD7 (i have an hd2) needs to be updated but once the process starts up at some point it finds out that your so called HD7 isn't exactly who it says it is due to both hardware and software differences and Zune stops the update telling you something and puts your hd2 the way it was..
The only way an HD2 running WP7 can ever be updated is when DFT or anyother Developer ports the Newer WP7 updates to the HD2..
other then that you can never use an official update on it
Okay it was actually the corrected update for the Samsung devices. And yes I did try the update, why not....
I don't care about the update so much for the cut and paste, etc. What they need to fix is the bluetooth. And yes I had an HD7 for about 3 weeks and realized my HD2 was better for a lot of reasons. The bluetooth on WP7 is terrible. I talk on the phone most of the day for work and I have the best headsets on the market and none of them work well with WP7, including when I had the HD7. Everyone complains of them cutting out, etc. I tried the various registry tweaks to no avail so far. It's not the hardware, I've tried 2 phones and about 4 different headsets.
As far as the HD2 failing on update, you are right, it's a driver issue. No need for the lecture, I kinda know a little bit about it....
Hi XDA.
Has this been posted?

If not, take a look, it worked for me.
Unbranded HTC HD7 Pre NoDo already received via Zune when it was first pushed out.
I was up to today still waiting to get NoDo.
Checking some news sites revealed above link
Screw AT&T
Got tired of waiting on AT&T without any idea of when the update might be released. Did this, it was smooth, painless and I am now running NoDo with no need to remove any apps or data, not hitches and now have a snappier Focus.
Did you know......
And on top of that, My phone stayed completely unlocked!
I can still sideload all the cool XDA-Dev. apps!
Impresive!

Unless you have a Surround, for some reason?
perhaps some problem with Surround, or AT&T just want to maintain their status...
Could AT&T be testing the HTC-specific update? Or did that go out to branded phones?
about time...

I have to figure out how to restore back to 7004. bad news is my computer crashed and I had to reinstall my OS and I lost my restore point in zune. Would any restore file work, even if some one sent me one that they did when they updated?
Anyone know?

Other people who used a workaround to update their phones to NoDo said they also received the offical update. So you might not have to restore to 7004
That will be cool

According to the Windows Phone Blog it's because of an HTC Specific update (not surprising since they always try to add their own touches to phones they make.) that ATT and Microsoft still have to test and approve.
I guess I'll just be waiting a bit more for the update. I'm glad I didn't force the update through, especially if the HTC part of the update brings a more polished experience to my phone.
Curious whether people who already updated to NoDo will see the ATT update in Zune. I would assume the version number is identical and it would just tell me that it is already up to date?
wait and see I guess.
Mid may maybe for surround. I hate att.

Well it's the 19th. For those who have had actual upgrades phones already... can we actually expect the update on the delivery date, or will it most likely still take time to actually send out the update?

Assuming the 19th is correct and they do start delivering it today, it could takes weeks for everyone to get it, some may get the notice today others not.
I rebranded, plugged my phone in, and got a prompt for the update, but I'm not going through with it because those AT&T features are lame, plus, I already used the VPN hack to get NoDo

UPDATES ARE INDEED HERE!!!!
I'm downloading mine right now. I never unbranded or anything so I'm curious to see what kind of differences I will see.

Just plugged in phone, got message for "Samsung Update". I had performed the VPN hack and got nodo a while ago, so everyone should be getting something. (at least for the focus)
and its here
I'm on Rogers and I still don't have 8779. Took forever to get 8773 in fact I only got it last week. Oh and forcing the upgrade doesn't work I tried it a few times as per the instructions. Unless I'm doing it wrong someone correct me here you plug in your phone go into settings and click update then click off then click again and after 3 seconds pull the internet connection ...right?
Double check in settings that the firmware is 8773 or 8779, Reason being is that the wifes Lumia 900 has an 7.10.8773 OS but 2175.2503.8779.12301 firmware whereas my lumia 900 has 7.10.8779.8 OS and same firmware as wifes phone (8779) Weird I know but maybe worth checking.
Indeed you have a point there. My phone has OS 8773 and firmware 8779 but what exactly does that mean.
Why can't they just give us 7.8 as it is and push out the extra updates as they unfold. I would love that. Start with the start screen and every couple of weeks a new feature. maybe even have weekly votes (kind of like what they have going on now) for the next feature.
I'm on to something here people.
Hi, I purchased this phone about a week ago and have loved it so far. I saw that Android 7 came out a day ago but when I search for updates I get the message that my device is up to date even though it's on 6.0.1. I have not rooted my phone yet (or even unlocked my bootloader), in short I have not messed with my phone yet, it's as it was when it came from the box (except for the OTAs installed).
All I can think the reason for this may be my region since I live in Pakistan. With my previous phone, I used to get the OTAs on time but this is my first nexus phone and I'm a bit disappointed that I'm not getting the update as soon as it is rolled out if that really is the case. Also, does anyone have an idea when I'll get my update?
this is called a staged rollout. it is to ensure the stability of the update servers as well as to grant google a chance to put an update on hold and safe the majority of the trouble, should critical errors come to light during the early phase of a rollout

Oh, so how long should it take given the staged rollout goes well.

i believe up to two wrrks, but don't quote me on that. you could always make use of the beta-program to skip the line as i did. just look through some recent threads here or over at androidpolice

You will get OTA update in first 2 weeks of the month, I always get about 15th day in the month, so don't worry.
How mate said, you can use android beta program, just you will get final update and after upgrade just leave android beta program
