Hi,
I would like to keep my voicemails when I am trying out other roms. I have a Nand backup & when I restore to Fresh 03 (what I use the most) I have my voicemails. I am guessing they are located somewhere on the internal storage vs the SD card.
Is there a way to backup & restore those files as well? I would guess I could copy them from \voicemails (or where ever they are) to \sd\richtj99\data, then copy them back once I flashed?
Thanks
Rich
I can't believe I'm answering this... voicemail is flowing magically around you...
*you grab a colorful wave of sheer delight...
BEHOLD! I have flashed your phone so that it never loses its voicemail in a flash...
now its as if your voicemail stays in the network
Ok, I guess I will restate the question. My voicemails seem to be physically downloaded to my phone. When i reflash, all my old voicemails are gone. So when I try a new rom, I only have all new voicemails.
I am glad that voicemails flow all around you, but on my Evo, they dont repopulate as downloads.
Maybe its due to the visual voicemail?

I lol'd
best way is to get a GV account and the GV app and set up your phone for conditional forwarding(make GV your voicemail) and then they are all saved and transcribed when you get new ones.(it's like magic)
You can also email your voicemails to yourself in order to back them up.
Using ADB or any root file manager you can backup you voicemails below. I use root explorer instead of ADB because I usually flash my rom when I don't have a computer.
Code:
adb pull /data/data/com.coremobility.app.vnotes C:\com.coremobility.app.vnotes
Wipe and Flash your rom and
Code:
adb push C:\com.coremobility.app.vnotes /data/data/com.coremobility.app.vnotes
adb reboot recovery
Once you are in recovery do a fix uid permission and restart (fix uid permission should be in the other on the menu). If you do not complete step then when you restart your phone you will loose all your voicemails that you have restore. I hope this help you.
Edit: The fix uid permission is assuming you are using Amon_Ra's recovery for Evo.
Get Google Voice. Problem solved.

Come on now, that was not called for. He asked a legitimate question that I'm willing to bet a lot of the members may not know the answer to. That response was not helpful in the least and is counterproductive to the purpose of this site. In the future, for the sake of maintaining an atmosphere that is conducive to helping one another, please refrain from making such negative and demeaning posts. It is totally uncalled for, unnecessary, and unacceptable.
I would second using Google Voice. It integrates so well with Android it's almost a shame not to use it.

Visual voicemail stores them on your phone even if you delete them in the IVR prompts when calling. He wants to know what directory they are stored in. Good job making fun of somebody for not knowing something when you didn't know how it worked yourself.

EXACTLY!!! This forum is getting out of hand with some of the people's nasty attitudes. People are getting to be so quick to want to jump on someone for the slightest thing. I thought the OP asked a very good question yet even still he gets attacked for no reason. Guys, WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. Simply put, if you don't have anything nice/useful to say then don't say anything.
I agree with some people jumping in and giving comments that is not needed and does not even help the OP. I hope my first reply to him help him backup his voicemail as it does for me.
Everyone is thinking way too much about this one. Just use TB, problem solved. OP, look at the guide in my sig for more information.
Also, if you want to avoid some of the comments you received, post questions in the Q/A section. That is what it is for. Not saying those comments are justified...

Good, informative answer. Thanks, coderli.
I extracted my voicemails from a DATA backup and put them on my sdcard. You can leave the voicemails on the sdcard and play them using OI or Astro. You do lose the info on who it's from and when, but at least you have the audio.
As for the rest of you if you don't actually have the answer to the question, why are you even replying? (rhetorical)
I use YouMail. it's awesome. You can have a custom greeting for anyone (music, clips from shows, cartoons) and it shows the persons name (first and last, like caller ID does) if they are not in your contacts. Oh, and it also saves the voicemails on their servers so you can flash different roms and still keep all your voice mails. Only thing is it costs money to transcribe and the voicemails dont get to you right away sometimes.

I just broke up with my girlfriend last wednesday and I think she installed spy software on my evo. She was reciting conversations I was having with my friends about her "word for word". I did a factory reset and thought all my problems were solved, she then on thursday continued as if I didn't reset. I reset multiple times on friday morning as well as formatted the sd card outside of the phone before docking it back in the phone. She busted me out again Saturday about conversations I had Friday night. "Word For Word!!!" Even after I rooted my phone friday night. I don't get it! I need help please.
I know there are sites out there like:
Mobispy.com
Mobistealth.com
Androidspysoftware.com
How can I search and remove this crap. I'm about to fry my phone so I can get another clean phone!
Please help!

Sure she hasn't planted a bug on you?
Not really the right forum, but aside from that, time to change the password to your email account.
Are you using Gmail? Chatting w/ ppl using Gtalk on your phone? Gmail logs everything.
Thread moved to Q&A.
Maybe the app that she installed is being backed up by Google and will reinstall every time you sync to your account. Try to see if you can delete the back up from your sync profile. There is no way an app can survive hard resets.
Just boot a stock rom and take it in to Sprint and let them deal with it.
And I think the thread title should be "Please HELP!!!! Crazy ex-girlfriend Dilemma".
It's one of your friends telling her everything would be my guess.

I would take this gents advice, I used "gbackup" which backed up all my calls, messages, mms, and pictures and videos. But you have to set it up each time so that's probably a no go. And it might not be just your phone.....Damn i feel sorry for you bro

I really dont see how the app would survive hard reset though unless you're backing up. I'd go a couple of days without restoring anything and see what happens, if she's still guessing it then yeah I'll go with the people telling her explanation or your house/car is bugged. Thanks for the laugh, hope you solve this.
Re: Help
It's not my friends, she definitely tapped the phone. She knows both sides of the call. One of the conversations was between my Mom and I. My mom hates her. She is Korean so you know she's Asian, but she just happens to be Crazian!!! When I reset, I usually run no apps and don't backup anything but my google account.
do you have a old or different android phone you could activate? then pull the battery on the evo and see if it's an app or gmail related or if it's hardware related

It's mostly at home.. I find out about it when she gets pissed and calls me out on things i've said. She used to always ask to play angry birds and she always looked suspicious, but I had no idea scum bag developers were out there creating illegal programs for privacy invasion that are impossible to detect or remove.

Hi Guys.
yesterday I helped a friend upgrade her galaxy nexus to JB, and I asked her whether she had anything important on her phone she said no.
Turns out I wiped the phone, and when i ask her to sign to her google account to bring her contacts she doesnt know her gmail!
We try to use google account recovery using her email addresses but turns out none of them were used when the new account was setup.
I did take an application backup with halaxy nexus toolkit, but it seems it's just that. apps with no google account info.
Anyone has any idea that might help me? I'd really appreaciate it.

yeah I did, but they might take a while.
When I set her up, we didnt put any security questions or anything, so it'll be very difficult to recover through google.
I'm thinking whether somehow I can have a look at the apks or the .bak file we took, and find the username at least , in this way at least
I can tell google where to look
Normally you would have had to use a secondary email address when signing up for Gmail for password reset reasons. Is there an option for that when trying to reset password?

We had a try at the password recovery using an email address that we think it's correct (usual combination of name/birth year etc)
Once you go into the gmail password recovery page It shows you part of the email address (the domain is ok but the rest is blacked out)
I recognize the domain name being something I usually use as a fake email when I'm trying something quickly. so I'm pretty sure we got her email address right now.
Unfortunately due to the domain being fake I can't recover her password using that email address.
I remember writing her newly created email and password in a piece of paper and saying. once you get home change the password and update all your details to the correct. ( well that didn't happen :-/ )
If she's ever signed in through her PC and saved her passwords through her browser then you could recover it from the saved passwords list.

I hope for your own sake, that she didn't just store her contacts locally. I saw that many times, especially women usually don't bother and keep hacking their numbers in just like that, without thinking about setting up sync or contact cloud beforehand. Good luck!

Any chance that she has all her contacts stored on her SIM card?
If so, just create a new Google account and restore her apps...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Actually, when she got the new phone, I think the way I copied all the contacts from her older phone was into the SIM, put the old SIM into the new phone and imported them.. (my memory is bad, but that kinda makes sense for coming from a dumbphone to an android)
I just asked her and she might still have the old phone and the old SIM. so maybe there is a chance there, gotta wait for her to go home and try to find it..
This will definitely teach me a lesson.

PS: I reckon I'm stressing more about this than she is.. if it happened to me i'd be a royal pain in the bum.

EDIT: ok i just found this. looks like an error in tmobiles system. this is not a new thing
Everyone calm down. These are simply system errors in relation to T-Mobile's email systems. You can get the answer straight from T-Mobile (though it takes a bit of searching).
I get these texts occasionally too.
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Messaging-and-O ... 0000/td-p/60220
"Unwanted text messages from +10476000000
01-22-2009 01:05 PM - last edited on 01-22-2009 01:07 PM
If you are receiving unwanted text messages from the specific number +10476000000 please read this and follow these steps.
T-Mobile has several kinds of email systems. The email system used depends on what kind of phone you have. The strange messages you are receiving means you have email setup on one specific T-Mobile email system known to T-Mobile reps as "consumer email", but your sim card is no longer in a phone that supports "consumer email".
The quickest way to resolve this is to put your sim card back into your old phone. Remove your email account from the old phone. Once your email account is removed, the consumer email system will stop sending those messages to you. You can put your sim card back into your new phone.
If you no longer have access to the phone with consumer email (Samsung Blast, Motorola W490, Nokia 6263, Samsung Behold, and several others), please contact us. A T-Mobile representative can remove your consumer email account directly from the network."
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
So, if the texts are that bothersome, you can always call T-Mobile to have them remove your e-mail account directly from the network. I'm not sure if that would cause problems on your end though. I know I need a gmail account to even use my phone (Android) that I have to sign into. Though it may be unrelated to that.
Hope this calms everyone down.

and another
Just got off the phone with tmobile. The agent said this would sometimes occur if your account is switching "my tmobile accounts" or you just recently got a new phone/another line. Also, if your phone was tapped you'd be able to notice it due to the fact that if you ever heard of cell phone interference I.e. you get the clicking noises (like standing next to a radio and you phone rings) it would be constant. So yeah to all the f***ers paranoid about being tapped...your not, and even if your were, you could call tmobile and ask them as they are required to inform you due to the fact that tapping any kind of phone is against the FCC laws.
