New Apps Coming to Windows Phone 7 { Newest - Cracked Reader } - Windows Phone 7 General

Looks like Pulse is coming to WP7. It was my favorite RSS reader on the iPhone. I know there are some similar to it already, namely Fuze, but I just thought I'd share.

Is it possible we can get one big thread similar to the Mango app update thread for these product announcements?

Changed Thread Title
@N8ter, Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

Hey I'm not meaning to be a b*tch You can just change the thread to something like "Apps Coming to WP7 - Latest: <AppName>" that that would be great, similar to the Mango app update thread. Don't need to be closed, just repurposed
That would cut down on a lot of redundant threads.

Cracked now available in the marketplace for 0.99

Google RSS Reader Application: Developers Wanted

*EDIT*
This application is complete, and has been branded G:RSS. The new thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700948

Unfortunatly I´m unable to help, but please continue with your work, it looks very very nice!
Sounds interesting. How far have you got, and whats still to do?
From the looks of the screenshot, it seems you've allready got most stuff working. Just need some design tweaks
I've got the structure laid out and am working through the Google API now. My biggest issue is I'm new to Silverlight/C#, and while it is 99% straightfoward, I'm having a problem figuring out how to get the HTTP Request working properly. I've got a thread started on the Windows Phone 7 forum here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo.../thread/8e918a12-135a-45b3-9764-0a24f631f4b3/
And yea, the UI is my first pass, it's what I'm working towards until I get it functioning fully in the emulator, then I'll revise.
Nice, but I think what is really needed is a view like you get on reader.google.com, where you can click through your news items in its full form.

I'll be building in swipe gestures, right for next article, left for previous. I think this is the best way to display an article and navigate. I was debating on placing the headline for the next article below, so you could tap on it, but longer articles would force scrolling. If anyone has any suggestions for how navigation could work otherwise, I haven't built that piece of the puzzle yet, so I'm open.

Nice screens. If you are stuck and need help I am a WP7Dev and have some time to do XAML and other stuff. PM me if you are still looking for help.
I also built a GReader WP7 app, screens are not as well designed as yours! Good job.
I'm actually finishing it up now. It's fully functional with almost all of the features of the desktop reader including on-phone caching. It's also looking much better than my concepts including theme options. I'll post a video when its complete, to see if there are any other things people want.
Great! Can´t wait for the video!
Why a Google RSS reader?
Syncing with Google Reader, so you see the same read / unread items on your mobile and on your Desktop. I like it.

Hope you get some help from here. Gunnar is a friend of mine.
So I actually just completed it on my own. Was a great way to get into WP7 development. I've since named the application, and have a video of it posted. The new thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700948

Official Engadget App

about an hour ago i was skimming through the new apps in the marketplace and came upon an engadget app (not engadget reader). I went ahead and downloaded it. Right off the bat i could tell this was the official engadget app. Great metro ui integration, very smooth interface and offered podcast and videos integrated into the app. I was a little suspicious of the app and whether or not it was the official one, but it had an about page with all the copyright info from engadget. Right before typing this I searched once more for this app and it seems that it has been pulled from the marketplace as well as the engadget reader.
Did anyone else download this app before it was pulled?
It's unfortunate that it got pulled down before I could get it. I have the Engadget reader and it's lacking. I want an official Engadget app ASAP!
Good to hear about it being smooth with metro UI integration though.
I managed to get it before it disappeared.
Wonder what got it yanked?
What is it like, screenshots?
Microsoft seems to be really strict about their guidelines. They have guidelines for everything from User Interface to how long u have for the app to load/resume to distributing it on the marketplace, lol.

I believe this link should do, but it's not there for download:
http://redirect.zune.net/External/L...oneAppID=e32911a0-472d-e011-854c-00237de2db9e
Link may not work in browsers other than IE. It didn't work in my version of Opera.
I got it. Settings button restarts it, might be why they pulled it so it's fixed. Give it a go and see if it's the same for you.
Ok it wasn't an offical Engadget app or they would have had an artical on it. much like all the BBC apps none are offical BBC apps. the apps that Engadget has for IOS and Android are offical. from what I was told they will be having one soon but it wasn't that app.

which phone do you have? Maybe it's restricted to HTC or some other device. Maybe limited to a country? Still no download for me.

Yeah, it is official, but it is buggy.
App restarts whenever you hit the Settings button.
I deleted to the unofficial Engadget app for the official Engadget app.
It seems the unofficial app was pulled down too
The screenshots make it look sort of ugly compared to the Android and iOS versions of the app. For anyone who has it, what do you guys think?

I have been trying to get this app since it was discovered on the 16th. My guess is that it was released, found to be buggy, and then pulled back. One thing about the WP7 marketplace is that Microsoft actually QA's the apps during the approval process. Android, never. Apple, yes. But it is to look for anti-apple or sexy stuff(j/k).
My buddy has been trying to get his WP7 GPS app approved for quite some time now. It keeps getting rejected for various QA and functionality requirements that keeps the WP7 ecosystem efficient and functional. So props to Microsoft for being sticklers about the quality of apps released(the purpose and types of apps release is another thing).
In case people want to keep checking for the app, here's the link to Zune d/l: http://ow.ly/3ZWl0

The ATRIX 4G lagged its way to a 9/10 (or was it 9.5?) on Engadget and I believe the Galaxy S[hit] got a pretty high score as well even though its lag and GPS issues were well-known at the point of review...

Let MS know your wishes for future versions of WP

I don't really see how this is new, they have had this for a long time (it was just never added to the official site)
They originally had one for developers that got overrun by consumer suggestions. Therefore they made a 2nd.

Hi guys my first suggestion seems to have gone down quite well. Please vote some another issues which has been bothering me. The ability to swipe through image search results in Bing. You can do that in the IOS Bing app. Note sure why they've not included this in wp7.

Ask Ziggy App on the Market Place for Windows Phone Tries To Be What Siri Is For iOS

I ran across this article on Pocket Now while surffing the net, pretty interesting.

LOL, I just tried to ask it to schedule an appointment and it gave me a web result, no good. : ( maybe in an updated version. I would buy it if they made it better.
It really sucks for them that the released this video (and generated all this hype) while the old ****ty version is still in the market place. Apparently the one making the rounds is a new one not updated in the market place yet.

Well that just sucks; I wonder what all they fixed on the new one and where we can get it.
The old version works fine for me. The only thing you cant do is control parts of the os like setting alarm and reminders. But that's MSFTs fault or not allowing apps to do that.

Yeah, but why not have it in "New" releases and "Featured"? Why is the WP7 marketplace so unusable? It annoys me I can't browse the "New" releases and find "New" releases. I am basically forced to see into the ethereal world to find "New" releases. If a person wasn't told about a "New" release, they would never find it because they would have to type the name of any and all unknown new releases to find them.

It is a difficult problem to solve. In the last 24 hours, 244 new apps were added. Ask Ziggy came out on on 12/22.
As far as featured is concerned, I don't know their criteria but outside of being featured on a small time Windows Phone blog there wasn't anything notable about the app. It didn't start hitting the major blogs until that. I imagine featured apps are submitted for it, and typically have a fair number of downloads or at least positive reviews.
But it is a problem that you can only find interesting apps via news and blogs. Hopefully there is a good solution.

It's just not listed under "new releases" because it's not new. It's been on the marketplace for quite some time now. For some reason it has just not gained popularity until now.
Hmmm could be you don't see "ask ziggy" in the "new" section because.... Its not new? Not sure when the version that's out was published but people are saying the new one in all the WP7 articles isn't out yet. I'm sure as soon as it is you'd find it in the 'new' section of whatever subsection it goes in. Just my two cents

I browse the "New" category all the time. It's a habit with me, an this app has never been listed there. Nor has it ever been listed in the "Top" or "featured" categories. Think about all those devs out there that release new, high-expectation apps that nobody is buying or using because the majority of people outside of these forums and specific media sites don't know about them. Most people find new stuff by browsing the "New" categories. One poster said Ask Ziggy was released on 12/22. I just found out it existed yesterday by reading this thread.

Regarding 4.0.3 and future updates and news feeds

Is there a blog or RSS feed or something that I could follow to get updates about future Android versions?
I know that Chrome browser has a wonderful blog that details version updates and what features are added and what bugs are fixed, does something remotely similar exist for Android?
Maybe there are people that should be followed on Google+? Twitter feeds? Other related blogs?
Having Galaxy Nexus phone I am a lot more keen to stay up to date with Android version updates that may or may not also end up on my Android devices.

Hey, you are in the most comprehensive place for updates in my opinion. I get all my Android info right here and from some other sources like android headlines and android guys etc. The guys here very rarely miss anything. If you do find something official from Google or Samsung share it
I'd be interested in something like this too. Seems like every time I have a phone that doesn't get the OTAs because it's modded, I wind up with some paranoia that I don't have the latest version of Android. Would be nice to have an app or blog or something that I can go thru and instantly read "Samsung Galaxy Nexus: Current Version 4.02" instead of having to sift thru tons of posts and replies to find out what's actually official.
I believe that if you want to know the official thing, you should check here:
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
I don't think that a 4.0.3 image will be published there before the OTA updates start to roll out... On the other hand, the updates might start to roll out and they might not publish the 4.0.3 image.
But, as said, I think here is the best place to check if anyone is getting any OTA updates.
Cheers. A little disappointed though, Google does such a wonderful job publishing version details and updates of Chrome browser. Android is such a mystery in comparison. I would always like to stay on top of things.
Think you're right. I'm pretty sure I saw a post somewhere from Jean-Baptiste Queru saying the image file would be posted only after the OTA push.

There is Android blog, but its updates are far less technical compared to Chrome blog that deals with version updates and features. Sometimes they cover some things on Android blog, but often they are focusing on less-technical matters. It covers more things that are already there rather than things under development and freshly released.
You can also follow @android on Twitter too, if you are into that.

I did not ask technical information about Android right down to the code itself. I already have that, I have developed for Android for more than a year.
I meant information about new version updates, problems and fixes. Something similar to what they have for Google Chrome.
