It seems to blink insanely slow, like every 8 seconds. That's not fast enough to catch if there's a notification just peeking.
I'm trying out NoLED but it doesn't always seem to work, sometimes it'll show up and sometimes it won't.
Download the application called Light Flow, set the notification color as white, and choose the fastest blink rate. The color will still be red but you'll get a nice fast blink rate.
hmm... does everybodys light blink?
mine stays solid.

Are you using Handcent? I read something about Handcent causing this phone's notification light to stay solid.
light flow with white setting blinks on mine

Hi there, I am currently running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 on my HTC Desire Z and having some issues with the notification led in the speaker:
Why, when battery is nearly flat (under 10%) no LED blinks and if I receive a text the green one keeps blinking unless I reboot the device?
I would like to have the amber LED blinking when battery is dying. I already tried LED ME KNOW but works for a while than stops especially after a reboot.
Thanks in advance.

The blinking LED under 10% is just going to happen. Not sure how you'd change it, as the function is built into the ROM.
The trackpad should still pulse properly when you receive a message though.
Thanks for your reply martonikaj, anyway the speaker led seems to go crazy when battery goes under 10%!
Now, I received a text 15 minutes ago, read but the green light still blinks.
I simply would like to have the amber (or a red) Led blinking to remind me, when I'm not using the phone, that I have to recharge it!
Anyone is experiencing the same issue as me?
EDIT: Seems that someone else has the same problem here, with no answer either:

mine's the same way. I have a consistent green speaker LED blinking under 10%.
I just never really get under 10% that often so it doesn't really bug me.

I realize that the green led doesn't blink to advise you that your battery is nearly dead but simply because, after reading a text or other notification, the device cannot "get rid" of the green light. In fact if you reboot the phone it goes away and doesn't show up unless you receive another notification.

Well its not that it cant get rid of it, its that the system tells it to blink the LED lower than 10%, and that's overlapped by the fact that the notification also blinks the LED green. So after the notification LED pulse is gone, it just continues because the system picks up where the notification left off.
Either way, yes, its a bug.

Not in my case. If I don't receive any notification the green LED doesn't blink, even under 10%.

You are 100% right! As far as I know it hasn't been solved yet. CM 7.1 RC still have this problem.
Is there a way to get the notification light to blink all the colors it gives me as far a options b/c it only blinks red & no other colors? I have went through the stock text app, handcent, email to change the settings but they all blink as red.
I tested this yesterday and recommend Light Flow from the market.. there is a lite version that's free and you can test out the LED light. We only have Red, Blue, and a combination of both of them that looks like Magenta. You have to set it to Green in the app for Magenta..
I saw another post on this, but couldn't get it to blink at a regular rate. No matter how I changed the flash led setting, it would stay lit for a long time and eventually blink, only to resume again. Do you have settings that allow it to flash quicker?
Thanks.
I tried the light flow app which it worked to get the light to flash but none of the colors worked but some how it disabled my email notification light.
My main beef with the notification LED is that it blinks way to slowly, i have to stare at it for like 10 seconds to see if i have a text or not.
Light flow appears to not be compatible, as it causes the LED to be solid green whenever my screen is off (even if there's no notification), and Light manager partially works, (does not blink, and color is off)
Are there any other apps out there? I really just want to make it blink faster (frequency control)
Yours blinks? Mine stays on solid when I have any sort of notification. (Missed call, text, email, voicemail, etc...)

hmm strange, u have stock at&t galaxy s3?
i'd never want mine to stay solid, i'd imagine there would be a significant drop in brightness after a few months, especially if i got a notification after i went to bed and it were on all night.

Yupp, all stock. And LEDs don't normally get dimmer until they are about to actually go out. Which takes a long long time. It's not like an incandescent lightbulb.
when i miss an email mine is solid green. miss a kik message solid purple. miss text message blinks blue.
I didn't configure any of this and can't even see how to.... I thought the system just was realizing different apps notify and changing it up.
interesting, my LED flashes blue for every type of notification, it just flashes like once every 8 seconds, which is just too slow.
Mine is solid as well, red when charging, blue for emails, and purple for almost everything else. I have a white phone as well.
If there are multiple notifications, it will pulsate through the different colours.

You can change the settings in Kik to get one of like 3 colors I think. I have mine set to white in Kik and it actually does come out white. I think the other two that work are red and blue. Pretty sure green is the only one that doesn't work.
Does the Notification LED light up when the phone is charging? Mine appears totally dead - no charging indicator, no notifications, no nuthin.
But then late last night I started getting notifications but still no charging indication.
Luckily I just got the shipping e-mail regarding my replacement phone.
My notification LED lights up when I get a notification, but not when the phone is charging.

Works for me
It works for me with Lightflow for all notifications, charging lights, etc.. You can set blinking rates and brightness levels.

LightFlow works for me too but it screws with the Ambient Display feature. I'd like to use both but with LightFlow it causes the Ambient Display to active for what seems like no reason at all.

Light flow works for me too but I notice when quiet hours are on in light flow, the LED still lights up. Seems that quiet hours in the light flow app turn off light flow but just cause Android system to control the LED again....

Hello.
Is there supposed to be a light for when the device is charged?
Mine shows no notification of either plugged in and charging, or when at 100%?
Cheers
you should see a lightning bold in the battery icon when charging
Yeah, cheers.
I was meaning with the screen off. All my other Android phones had a notification light when charging (ie red, then turned green once fully charged).

use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite&hl=en
I had assumed there would at least be a sound considering the 3rd setting in my screen shot, but there's not.
As for light flow, I used it a lot on my N5, but I tried it on my 5X and there were some issues.
First, there's the persistent notification... It's the way LF uses to keep the app running in the foreground, but there's a LF notification always in the pull down AND that screws with ambient display. If you turn that setting off in LF, the app stops working within 20 minutes of the screen being off, defeating the purpose of having a light blinking to let you know it's charging.
Second, not so much LF's issue, but you can't make the LED light up certain colors like orange. Regardless of shade, it all comes out yellow.
I'm really surprised that Google didn't add something for a charging indication using the LED...
Yeah, cheers for that.
At least I know its not just my device.
