Just how hot does it get? And how long does the battery last? With constant use and without?
How's anyone supposed to help you without any information?
We all suffer from crappy battery life some worse than others. It all depends on how you use the phone some days I'm lucky to get 3hours from a full charge (usually when the kids are shouting at me) but others if I hardly touch it it'll last 2 days at least.

I know..about wildfire's crappy battery life...the main problem is over heating...Ive heard that overclocking gives out over heating...but in my case I didn't overclocked it anytime...it overheats on using internet connection..like browsing downloading etc...I hardly surf 30min and my cell start heating..!! Is their any battery voltage problem on my device..?

Iam using cynogenmod 7.0.3..
528mhz
Browsing- 30 to 60min at max
Downloading time - 20-30min
Now during these two times my device starts heating...specially during downloading(apps, songs etc)...
sent via HTC wildfire cyno7magma using xda app.
Normal running temperature is between 25-35 degrees, obviously when downloading, playing music etc it will get hotter, there's other things that can affect temperature too though such as outside temperature if its hot outside the temp can shoot up pretty fast when using the phone with a heavy load.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that HTC said the phone could handle 60 degrees Max and my guess is your hitting around 40-45 degrees (that seems about the norm from what I've been reading from other users) there's apps in the market to measure temperature and I'm pretty sure the battery monitor in spare parts tells you the battery temp.
If your getting anymore than 45 degrees I'd say there maybe something slightly wrong but if not don't worry about it, just give the phone 10 minutes to cool down everytime it gets warm.
And may I ask is it plugged in charging while you use? because that will add to the temp too.

there's a free app called "elixir" which has a widget that you can adjust for tons of info (CPU, free space, RAM, wifi, tethering, ... everything basically) including battery temperature. You can check it out if you want.
When I tethered outside in the hot sun my battery got to about 42 degrees, I killed it then and cooled it, but as said before it should be able to take that kind of temperatures (mid/high 30's are no prob)

Hey guys how is everyone? Just a quick one...
In the past 12 months I've had my desire I'm shocked at how short my fone battery lasts. I can barely get 8 hours off the phone without a recharge. The phone sometimes switches off as soon as it gets to 15%. I've tried to calibrate the battery, wiping battery stats but all to no avail. Just this morning I've had the phone on for 1hour 10mins. From a full overnight charge its already at 64%. Battery use always shows the display to be using atleast 70%! I'm on the old amoled desires. Anything I can do peeps? Cheers
What's the total time of battery?

NB. Currently using android oxygen 2.3.3. Noticed no difference in any of the default htc roms I've used.
Been on 1hr 20mins and its shed 40%. I can try and take a screenshot for you guys

That sounds about normal to me, it sucks, get used to it or use your phone less. sorry.
Also forgot to mention screen brightness generally between 30-50%. Cheers folks

You probably messed up your battery with all that "calibrating". Unless your standby usage is significantly more than 10mA there isn't much you can do.
I had the same problem with oxygen. My fix was to unpartition my SD card. So no ap2sd. I use the hboot for different. I easily get 24 hrs with heavy data and video use.
May need a fresh install.

My phone's battery only lasts 6 hours. When I get to school (10 minutes away), I'm already at 92%, even if I don't touch my phone at all. By the end of the day it's dead.
This is terrible!
I use it mostly for web browsing, some games (nothing heavier than Angry Birds), some photos.
My old iPhone 3G was able to last for a day, even with WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth on, at maximum brightness.
Is there anything that could help me with this?
I tried calibration but that didn't help a bit.
I'm running Leedroid 3.0.5 and I have S-OFF.
Install current widget and monitor your screen of mA usage. If it's significantly higher than 4 to 10 mA you have sleep issues. If not there is nor much you can do.

turn off always on for mobile data?
AFAIK my frenz who use iPhone battery last pretty much at similar time doing similar task...
Sorry, I need to have data on.

right now it's at 339 mA. that is not right. So how do I fix sleep issues?
Okay, down to 4. I really have no idea.
231 now.
And now 180.
I have no idea how this phone works.
Is it possible to underclock? I don't really do anything that power hungry, except recording HD video, so I wouldn't mind underclocking to something like 800MHz
Try to calibrate your battery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755903
i think you've got some app or process that is draining your battery. your phone automatically downclocks the cpu when its idle. there must be something that is keeping it from sleeping. go into your settings and check on running services to see whats running in the background. i can usually last around 2 full days without charging, but i turn off mobile data most of the time because im always near a wireless connection. i mostly use the phone for texting and browsing and angry birds too. at idle your phone should be using <10 mA.
I already calibrated, and that didn't really help.
The only service. I can blame this on is Lookout antivirus. I uninstalled it, so I'll see if it works better.

Relax.
Battery life for the first two weeks will be appalling, but after two weeks it settles down. You should expect no mpre than 24 hours with average/moderate use though.
Plus for the first 3 or 4 charges, mine was also getting quite warm. What is happening to you sounds completely normal and should get better over time.
What software version is it? (Settings > about > software information)
How much screen on time does he get? (When almost flat: settings > power > battery use > screen)
What is he normally doing when it gets hot?
I noticed my phone was over heating (red/green flashing led) when using YouTube desktop page while charging. Then I turned of the 2d hardware acceleration in developer options (This is off as default) and it stopped. I also gained 30 minutes of screen time.
Also, when you say overheating, these things do get hot, that's normal, can you define overheating?
I use Android Revolution HD 6.0.0 (1.29.401.11) and my phone gets "very" hot after 5 minutes while playing Shadowgun THD.
Not only the backside of the phone, but also the touchscreen gets very hot, so that it doesn't feel comfortable to touch it for more than 3-4 seconds...
Hope this issue can be somehow fixed by new Tegra-Drivers or something else...

You do realise that ambient temperature across the world varies by over 60c? Your statement is meaningless for somebody who lives in northern Sweden or Egypt, for example.
I'm in the middle east our temp is 25c today I just gamed Sonic 4 episode 2 for one hour CPU ne er crossed 72c and batterry around 45c
.....by the way lots of apps in the background will increase temps during gaming
and remember firmware 1.29.401.11is the best in terms of temps, worst was 1.26
Wait for a week or two before you root. In case something is wrong it would be hard for you to return. By the time the hardware will settle down.
CPU temperature
I have some apps that see the battery temp. Wich app could you use to see the cpu temp??

Could it be that the aluminium lens ring is used as a cooling block. Putting it down the overheating LEDs (red and green) turn on. Picking it up the LEDs stop....

if I let turned on only 2 cores, is that still enough power to play such graphic intense games like Shadowgun THD?
With angry birds it shouldn't be a problem, I guess.

i have the same suspicions, were you ever able to confirm this?
Hello XDA ! I have an HTC One X. I have been using it and now I started to track my Battery temperatures. I am running ARHD 7.1.0 Custom Rom and my battery temps in my house in IDLE are about 26-30 Degrees. When I start using it inside afer about 5-10 mins of playing Dead Trigger or Real Racing 2 the temps are about 45-47 and after 30-40 mins they are about 50 degrees and I dont think this is normal for a battery. The phone becomes untouchabe at the top. Today I was just browsing the web outside (where its really hot - about 38-40 degrees) and after 5 mins the battery was 56 degrees JUST FROM BROWSING ! I wanted to ask if this is normal with every HOX and is there any fix. Sorry for my bad english
HTC says it's normal for your phone to reach such temperatures -_-. But the 2.05 base leak has temperature fixes. My hox doesn't get that hot as often as it used to after I installed Arhd 7.1.0
And yes my phone also got that hot just by browsing internet.

So if I continue using the phone after the battery is over 45 degrees I won't damage it ? I always stop doing everything if the temp goes over 45. And what are your temperatures ?
Yeah nothing should happen. Mine is around 40C

Mine also gets quite hot. Next time it does I will take a reading and post back.
@Op,
Use it not abuse it.
Why don't you tell your experience to the developer of the custom rom rather then opening a new thread?
Like this you won't get an answer, a waist of space.
@laurentius26
I didn't think he was talking about the ROM, its a HOX problem.
Lot of people are facing it and 2.05 base seems to have fixed it for most of them. Mine still heats up while browsing once in a while but its much MUCH lesser than before.
@OP
Try another rom if you think ARHD is the problem. Imo the rom isn't the problem.

Right a search must be done.
Lucky you are to not have had your hox heat up. Mines reached points where I couldn't charge it while browsing on edge because the battery was overheated. The new base however my phone barely heats up. But then my usage has changed compared to when I was on 1.29

My Hox (old one... Currently at repair center) gets 47c outside in the top of screen and camera (yes I use a laser temperature meter), battery at 53, and CPU at 94c... After 15/20 minutes of playing tegra games, or just stressing CPU for 10 min using stability test.

I almost burn mine out the other day... It even turned itself off... (I fell asleep whilst playing Max Payne with the phone on charge). I would say it got to about 70oC! THANK GOD FOR AUTO SWITCH OFF ON TEGRA 3
@Darkony, yep you're right indeed.
The CPU temperature goes up and down from 40 till 70 degrees on my device depending
on uses (it reaches 70 degrees but cools down very quickly as well).
The battery temperature reaches 47 degrees, (4 runs with StabilityTest app).
after two months of owning the HOX and now running the leaked the 2.05
it never overheats or blinks or whatever
it does get a little hot during non stop heavy gaming but thats it
i can even play on the charger
My big concern is the 47c in the top of screen :/ really hot you cant touch or answer a call

The phone should not be uncomfortable to hold. How are you measuring the battery temp? Two things that I am aware of cause heat; one is battery, the other is the CPU. My CPU runs around 100f-102f under normal use. If your battery is getting hot, there is a problem. My phone got uncomfortably hot the first day. I ended up doing a restore through Sony PC Companion and that fixed it. I've since had buildprop tweaks cause my phone to heat up beyond my comfort level. You either need to know your phone really well and troubleshoot the thing one by one or do a factory restore / reflash the ROM and take it slow on the app and tweak installs while testing each level of change. This is the way I do it. Other's may do it differently.
Mine is at 87 f right now just in my pocket data off but after opening this app and screen brightness at 50% its at 93 and it's only been a few minutes. I have a battery app it just says temp so I assume its my battery but anyways, how heavy you use the phone will alter its temp, I've had mine up to, if I recall correctly, 120f the phone will shut off when it's at a dangerous temp like my iPhone I left in my car to charge one summer day, we called my car the hot pocket, but the high heat shut it off and every time I tried to turn it on I got an warning and a shut off so I tossed it in the freezer. Anyways long story short, the heat you feel is how the phone keeps itself from over heating. If it's too hot for you lower your brightness that helps so much, but 100f isn't that bad for running temp

120f is a bit high for everyday use, but for gaming etc its normal.
U'll have to underclock it. 1.5GHz is hot while display on.
Lower down to around 1GHz or 972MHz. (I'm using it, to me its lag free)
