Does anyone know how to remove the alarm icon in the notifications on 4.53? I saw it for an older version, but it doesn't work for the newer release.

No, the idea is that the alarms are always on. So the constant notification is a waste of space. I obviously use the alarms and don't want to lose that functionality.
Well, then I guess you are trying to have your cake snd eat it too. Good luck with this one...

For anyone else looking to do this, I took a closer look at SteelH's thread and found the alarm instructions.. The difference is that the StatusBarPolicy.smali file has been moved to the SystemUI.apk instead of the jar file.
SystemUI.apk\smali\com\android\systemui\statusbar\policy\StatusBarPolicy.smali

if you can find a stock deodexed ROM you could replace the framework from that one and push it into your new one using ninjamorph, did you try pusing a blank widget.txt to see what that does? otherwise you would have to find one that has all of that removed, plus any theme etc your trying to run updates the framework.apk so your kinda stuck i think

There are instructions on how to customize these in the Power Control Widgets thread.
if your issue is that you dont want it to have 4g you can easily modify the widget.txt file and change it up there are a lot of options. If you are trying to remove it You may look int he EVIO rom thread Calk has a flashable zip to remove it from EVIO. it should work for any rom in theory since Evio isnt themed and neither is SL it shoudlnt effect much else. i would nandroid just in case though.

Have you checked to make sure you didn't turn the alarm volume off? It's that a lot of times. Also leave the phone on. A lot of people think their phone will turn on to sound the alarm and turn them off at night to save battery.

Could also try an alarm app from the marketplace. Or rooting and flashing a different rom.

That's what I would do. I didn't know that the stock alarm spoke, but I downloaded smarter alarm from the market and it is great. Tells me the time, news, weather, new emails, and calls me by my name. Can't beat that IMO

I've done a bit of searching and can't seem to find an answer besides "disable your alarm".
Does anyone know how to get the phone to stop showing the notification?

You don't.. why does it bother you so much?
Sent from my SGH-T999
Some 3rd party apps allow you to do this. I know for sure Alarm Clock Plus does.
Otherwise youd probably have to find a modded stock one or ma ke it yourself.

Because I always have an alarm activated for getting up during the week. It's just wasted space on my bar now.

Alarm droid has this option also. I've seen it in a few roms as well

Apparently, I was trying to figure out if we could set custom alarm ringtones on my phone, but it turns out all the alarm ringtone files on the system are under a different file extension. Can anyone help me out with this issue?
Many thanks is appreciated.

I dont think you can't change the ringtone in the ICS stock alarm. You could however install the stock GB Alarm and customize the ringtone.

Thanks. Maybe I'll just use those alarm apps instead I guess. Lol.
Are you talking about alarm&clock?
I know android uses .ogg files for ringtones, don't know if it helps

You have to turn off the "style settings" under "advanced alarm settings"

Try deleting the current alarms in the stock app and create new ones. When choosing the alarm sound, you should see in the list any sound file in the /Alarm folder of the internal SD memory. I think when you flash a new firmware the alarms are restored from the Google account but you can't change the alarm sound in those, so you have to delete them and create new ones from scratch.

It was working before the md4 update. I could delete from the pull down curtain. Now all I get is the notification without the delete /reply options. I have tried all different settings without success. I even uninstalled gmail, deleted data and cashe, reinstalled. No dice. I really liked to be able to delete without going to the app....

if there are any other notifications in the pulldown (including one's that can't be swiped away) the option doesn't show up... I stopped using ds battery saver for this reason

Hmmmm. The only other thing there is the green lookout icon. I'll try removing that and see if it changes.

You were right!
I went to lookout settings and turned off the icon. Now all works again.... I Never would have thought it was from lookout. I even sent them an email to alert them of that. They sent a reply in 5mins. Said it shouldn't do that....
Thanks again for helping!

It's not lookout, it's gmail, if there is already any kind of notification on there it doesn't give the expanded delete reply option...:thumbup::thumbup:

Again, it's not a lookout problem, is a gmail problem.. nothing lookout can do to fix this, it would have to be coded into the gmail app to allow it to display these options when there is other notifications

I think the gmail notification has two modes: minimized and full (with buttons).
The notification only shows the buttons when it's the "top" notification. Apps like lookout have persistent notifications, so the gmail notification is never top dog and therefore doesn't go into "full" mode.
I know in 4.2.2, the method I described allows you to expand minimized notifications. I do a medium-length press and hold, then drag the notification down to expand it. I'll try to capture a video of what I mean (never captured video on my phone before).
