Sorry for the noob question... But.. is there a step by step guide or tutorial anywhere for rooting the incredible 2 with a mac. All I can find is stuff for the thunderbolt..
Sorry wish I could help. I also have a MAC but just borrow my gfs pc when i have to do anything root or mod wise. If I find anything I'll post it. You probably need to use terminal in the process if using a MAC.

I think you just use revolutionary's Linux tool. I don't think drivers are needed on a MAC. Check out this link. At the bottom it tells you how to irc them with questions.

i used linux its incredibly easy i think mac would be the same. extract it then open a terminal and cd to where you extracted it then type ./revolutionary and hit enter. at least thats what i did on my Linux mint box i imagine mac would be pretty much the same

Try asking in the general or q&a section. As that is where this thread belongs.

Nope. Unless they have a link to it on their site like they do for the Evo, Incredible, etc. it won't work.
There aren't any reliable 1-click methods for the G2/DZ because its a bit harder to gain root access from the way HTC designed it.
There are many step-by-step tutorials in the dev section though that are easy enough to follow.

Works fine for temprooting. I wouldn't trust it for perm rooting as its shown to not always work properly and corrupt some file systems it shouldn't be messing with.
The step-by-step method outlined in the wiki is very easy. You only need your phone and a computer to put a few files on your SDcard, no ADB required anymore it can be done from terminal emulator on the phone itself.

Should take a gander through the Android Development forum for yourself and read up on the other reference materials next time
Here you go: G2/DZ Wiki.
Haha. I shall.
Thanks very much. Really appreciated that

Uuuuhhh. What's wrong with the step by step guide that Hebrewtoyou already made?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Its sort of confusing compared to other step by step guides. Hebrews guide is not Noob friendly. There are so many guides out there that are easy to understand and are Noob friendly but when it came to one of the most important things that the slide needs, it turns out to be more complicated than it should be. As far as I'm concerned the guide is hard for me to understand but I can't claim to say that for everyone. I was just hoping if someone would help by making a video or a more Noob friendly step by step guide. Then I would be really greatful and thank you for replying.

I just went and re-read the guide. I'm not sure that there's anything in there that can be simplified more than it already is.
Partitioning the memory on the device is potentially dangerous if done incorrectly and I think, if that guide seems confusing, you should probably just not attempt to do custom partitions.
I mean no offense.

The thing I don't know how to do is s off. Not only that, I also want to know if you could use terminal emulator instead of adb.

Don't know if its been asked, but a quick search showed no 100% answer. Is there a way to get Mads 10-Lock Mod over here working properly for FC09? Honestly anything up to date would be fine doesn't have to be FC09 only. Just curious as to if there was something in the works or if someone could point me in the right direction to do it myself? That was such a good MOD shouldn't let it die away like that

I took computer programming in college... too bad I didn't retain most of the things I learned... we worked mostly with java and c++
I'm sure this has been asked this a million times but i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I wanted to start developing my own roms and was wondering where I should start. I have no real knowledge of developing so i would need directions for a beginner. It doesn't need to be detailed but maybe point me to some books or something equivalent that would help me out. Thanks

Here's a good start:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798056
a) get apktool and a good text editor with a good set of features. Find a tutorial on how to do some modification to a system apk. learn.
b) Learn some basic linux commands, helps if you install a linux OS here.
c) learn xml or how to modify it.
d) get the arm toolchain if you want to do kernel stuff.
Found this awesome thread by cyanogen a couple days ago... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667298
Soooooo I'm learning to compile on my own. I'm using ubuntu v11.10. I've got my environment set up. I'm trying to start building but I don't know where to get our drivers at. This is the page I got https://developers.google.com/android/ and I can't seem to find our device listed. Do I get them from somewhere else? Thanks for any input ahead of time!
I guess if more people knew this stuff then we would have more devs lol I think one of our devs is gonna help me out today so I'll update this thread with an answer if/when I get one. That way other people can find the answers too.

Thanks man but I don't think our device is supported. Besides, I'm attempting to build from source on my own in Linux. I just need these drivers to start out. I appreciate the help though.

Was looking and all I could find was on 12.10 to have libusb installed as well..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2
Yeah but on 12 the only device tree that's guaranteed to work is pretty much nexus devices according to Google. I don't understand why this is so difficult to locate? Would it be on git hub
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Did you see this? Or this?
Curiosity has me looking. Not trying to clutter or misguide. Aside from making a build of my own...
No I'm with you man. The more eyes the better. My buddy told me all Android phone use the same Bluetooth drivers and its called "Bluez" He said that should make it easier. Needless to say, it hasn't. :-\
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Now looking at the links you provided, I think you're misunderstanding what I'm looking for. I'm looking for the drivers to cook in to my Rom for the phone to work. Not to access Bluetooth through ubuntu. You understand what I'm trying to say?

Ahh hah. I was confused. Now I understand. Why not hop on the irc dev channel?
Besides looking in git, I wouldn't be much help. Sorry about that.
Just thought it was a question that others might be having too. Surely I can't be the only one wondering.
