Hi,
I'm with optus in Australia and wondering if any other aussie play owners have gotten the latest update yet.
My xperia play:
R800i
Current Android version: 2.3.3
Build version: 3.0.1.A.0.145
I got a message saying I should update my phone quite a few times but when I go to update it says that I already have the latest firmware, I've also repaired the phone using the SE PC companion hoping that would fix it but it didn't.
Any ideas?

that's quite odd.. because apart from the latest 2.3.4, you seem to be missing the 4.0.A.2.368 update.. hmm....
Just flash the latest ROM don't wait for it

Agreed with others, use Flashtool. Aussie providers seem to be very slow getting updates out unfortunately

Although everytime I get to step 3 of the PC companion updates process is says "Unable to download phone software, Please check your internet connection or try again"
But my net is fine, Any Ideas???

Just turned on wifi to do some random stuff on internet, and the moment it connected it announced that there's a new update available - anyone got any info regarding the new update ?

Haven't updated yet though.

Seeing I have some important data that I don't want erased ( and I'm too lazy to back it up ), I'll pass on this update until other users report exactly what's in it.

Has anyone tried to flash 2.3.2 global, root it, and is OTA available for 2.3.4?
Anyone taught of that?
I haven't tried yet cause is there any app to backup phone settings and phone memory? from SE?

AFAIK, no OTA available yet for 2.3.4...
+ OTA for the update before this was only for HK and UK ( and Germany if i'm not mistaken ), no world generic or other region... so we might guess that the OTA 2.3.4 will take too much time to go for the firmware version of choice...
some guys already converted to HK version as it's the fastest one to update...
I had the Germany version and till yesterday evening there was no OTA update...
but now the phone is not working after upgrading to 2.3.4 and than downgrading back to 2.3.2 global and rooting it
I have seen a lot of people including myself had their phone ****ed up by downgrading 2.3.4 to 2.3.2 and root. I suggest you to wait till there is a solution for this problem.

Do u want to experiement? I ll flash back mine, i m still at 2.3.3 generic uk... I ll upload u my battery Stats and build.prop? Anyone tried this and report if this works? I ll flash .145 global as it supports OTA as i heard...
Have u taught of copy/paste system folders one by one from good phone to bad one .

I am tired of flashing my phone back and forth and getting really frustrated. So I went to SE, told them the phone was dead and play dumb. They gave me back the phone with a new motherboard. Now I am using 2.3.3 4.0.A.2.368 HK ROM
From 2.3.4 to 2.3.2/2.3.3, try this:
There is no problem with UK.184 -> Root and OTA to .368 (no need remove battery even).
Also no problem if I want 2.3.4 again, then I flash Nordic_Telia branded.238
-Tried two times already, cause I couldn't decied which one I wanted.

Yes, it is available now OTA with Root (happy), but I want to argue about people calling it Generic_World firmware all the time here on xda, it is Nordic!
There is no World region firmware as far as I know?
well I flashed back to 2.3.2, rooted, and now I want to OTA, and can't connect to download ! says : impossible to download now, try later.
I don't know whats the problem now.
also the ota update is only 44mb.

Yes, same here, too many people trying and server is getting sad.
Keep pressing the update button a few times, it worked for me.
But now happy rooted 2.3.4 with locked bootloader.
Ps. Please stop calling it Generic_World though!

I've got a couple of issues with my Optimus G E975, bought from S Korea but used in Norway. I'll try to be quick and short.
The phone works well and all that, but my issues are more technically challenged.
When I bought it there wasn't any info that the phone would have a carrier logo at startup and on the back (Olleh) and that it would be a couple of Korean apps that are totally useless to me since I'm not korean. I want to delete them but they are "built-in" so that didn't work.
I tried to root my phone, to the best of my knowledge, but I was not successful. I've tried to understand how I could do it, but the more I read the more I didn't understand
So please, if there is anyone, someone, who would kindly guide me throug the rooting/cracking/breaking etc the phone I would be hugely thankful.
Mostly because I want to remove the carrier logo on start-up and the annoying Korean apps, maybe turn it into a European version if possible?
Here are some stat/info on the phone:
Android-version: 4.1.2
Kernel-version: 3.4.0
Version number: JZO54K
Program-version: F180K20n

And what will the "flashing" do with my phone?
I think I'll wait a couple of weeks/months until I try to root my phone, since there is too many people not getting it right, thank for all the help :good:

Don't know what you and other guys doing, rooting is simple and works on Korean and English version.
You can than delete apks.
Or simple flash Europe 10D kdz' root, freegee, flash Korean modem.
Root method working for both Korean and European version.

Should I just download a european 10d kdz file? Or how does it work? It's all new to me...

I live in India and have not yet received the Jellybean update. Even when I checked for the same using the PC Companion I got the prompt stating that I already have the latest available updates. I haven't rooted my device yet. Is there a way to download the update manually and install it?

It's easy. Download a FTF of 4.3 update (15.4.A.0.23 for C1904/C1905 or 15.5.A.0.18 for C2004/C2005) and flash that file with FlashTool...
You can find FTFs in Xperia M General forum section...
I also live in India,But I'm running JB 4.3
this is how -
1.Download JB 4.3 FTF File (You can use any other country's firmware , of course no problem with that , cuz I used Poland's firmware and it works great)
2.Flash it via flashtool in Flash Mod
3.And ENJOY

Why don't you flashed with 2005 firmware??
2004 and 2005 are same except with network bands.
I had flashed to 2005 & checked all available networks works fine in Kerala.
So you can update to 2005 without any worry
Soon after I flashed lollipop, myphone started behaving weirdly. Almost all google apps are now incompatible with my Canvas A1.
Is everybody experiencing this prolem or am I the only one? Why is this happening?

The problem was probably because of some build.prop tweaks I had done.the problem solved itself after i reverted the changes. thanks anyway.
You don't need to worry about it...its because all latest compatible gapps are already installed in your phone through the lollipop update. .but still if u want to update them...download the apk files from apkmirror.com and install them...
I'm not 'worried' about it. I'm asking WHY it happens. I know I can get the apks. Read the question properly. I'm asking if this is happening to all devices and I'm asking if you know why it happens.

You're wrong about the updates. YouTube was updated to have auto play after the lollipop update.
More importantly, Google play services 7.0 came out after the lollipop update. Snapchat depends on Google Play Services 7.0 so I couldn't update Snapchat before I got the gms apk from apkmirror.
Next, my question is not about updates. My question is why it is happening. I don't care for updates as much as I'm curious for the reason behind incompatibility.

the updates of these apps are according the md5 and sha1 values of the phones....its not necessary that the google services which an anothre phone user is using will be compatible to your phone...these updates are thrown according to the compatibilty...otherwise trying installing an update from extrnal sources ...u can install them but they will create problems for u.....so what i hav learnt is updates aree thrown according to the compatibility of the phones...otherwise why don't u flash a rom of any other model to your phone...will it work...think about it urself

It is true that there are different updates for different phones. But it never says 'incompatible' for that reason. When an update isn't available for a particular model, it just doesn't show the update button on that app page in the play store. This incompatibility message is for different reason. I know this because of my app on the play store, SnappLock, I had released an update vesdion 0.9.2 for xhdpi devices and it just didn't show up on mdpi ones. That's right. But it didn't say that it is incompatible with mdpi devices. That's also right. Mdpi devices got the old 0.9.0 version. This incompatible warning comes with SnappLock only if you don't have a front camera. Because SnappLock doesn't work without front camera. So why I'm saying is that it should shoe no update if it isn't for my phone. But this says incompatible.

U just do one thing ...open your playstore and search google play services or whatever u think has an update nd will show that its incompatible....playstore will not search any such app for u. .probably ur trying to open that app in playstore through and extrnal link and so playstore forcefully will have to show that app to u in playstore...but as the update is not for ur model it will show incompatible message. ..atleast i have noticed that so far
