Our GSII comes with a built in FM Transmitter/Receiver chip. I haven't seen a link on this. Has anyone unlocked the potential of this hardware feature yet? I would love to be able to transmit an FM signal.
Here's the tear down of the phone. http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsu...eardown/6481/2
The phone has the Broadcom BCM4330XKFFBG 802.11 a/b/g/n MAC/Baseband/Radio with Integrated Bluetooth 4.0+HS and FM Transceiver/Receiver. Not sure if we're going to have to be rooted to utilize this hardware but we have the internals to broadcast our music to our cars with our phones alone.
Here's more info on the specific chip in question http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wir...utions/BCM4330
Will we need an app or root and a kernel or something?

Looking into this right, it seems like the stock kernel comes with it turned off but I am compiling a new kernel with support, let me c if it works. watch for zedomax v4 soon...

Spirit FM Radio?
I think sprint FM radio is a Data based streaming application. Has nothing to do with actual FM reception or transmission. As it relates to an app that exists for the international GSII, are you familiar with the name of it? I just want to commend Zedomax again for his tremendous efforts and early historical success as it relates to this device. Thank you very much sir.

Try pushing it with adb. It's a system app. You may need the lib also.

Has anyone found whether or not T-Mobile's GS2 is able to do FM radio? Is there a hack/app for that, or is the hardware just not there?

The sound quality may not be as good, but you can use "Tune In Radio" from the MARKET. Its worth it in my opinion.

Tune In Radio is great. Except in my office where I get $&# for signal. Oh, well. I'm not supposed to have my phone on my at work anyway, so the Zune just has to come to work with me for a while longer.

Spirit FM doesn't seem to work for me on stock. Are you using another rom? If stock, what settings do you use?
Thanks,
It didn't work for me on Bombardier ROM either. I think the earlier post may be correct and we just don't have the hardware.

No it doesn't have it.
It sucks that the only alternative is a radio APP since that will mean you will HAVE to use your data to listen to radio....
This seems pretty cool:

But can we enable NFC without a stock rom and FC09 modem?

Nope.
At least not that I know of. Maybe GPS location... but that would need detailed position. Or through the accelerometer... like bump.

not possible, the antenna is in the battery, but the communications part of nfc is on the circuit board.
Its a cool concept I personally want one on my bathroom sink That way when I'm flashing a new rom and dropping a duece I can boot back up set it on the sink to make the toilet paper dispense, then delay 1 minute to wipe and then flush the toilet. Then my water will turn on for two minutes and I'll wash my hands and then my paper towel will dispense then when I pickup the phone. The air Freshener will spray. that would suffice.

Is that a streaming radio app? As far as I know the T-Mobile S3 does not have a FM radio thus having an FM radio app would not prove to be useful.

I just found this on amazon while looking for possible replacements for my bricked epic.
am i reading this correctly? or is this and lte epic touch?
http://wireless.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-II-Android-Titanium/dp/B00A0CJ1CG
it claims to have lte and nfc capabilities
or is this a completely different phone?
or the epic with swapped hardware?
There are a few users that purchased the Titanium version. I'm not 100% sure but if I remember they said it was just another color variant with no difference. But I could be wrong.

Its a copy paste of the korean s2 which is the same specs as the sprint s2 except added nfc and lte instead of wimax. All Sprint/Boost/VM s2's are identical except for color, wimax 4g, no nfc
I like to break stuff!
The Sprint site says NFC for the Titanium too or at least it did a few weeks ago.

Samsung copy pasted the Korean s2's specs by mistake it's been like that for a while. They oppsed in the titanium and copied the korean cdma version specs instead of the US cdma version. It happened after they dropped the Epic touch branding in favor of just Galaxy S II
