[Q] Stuck on Samsung.com Screen HELP - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've ready the other threads on this but to no avail. does anyone have a clue to what I can do to get off the boot screen? i've tried to boot into recovery but it just sits there on the samsung screen. i was on stock ec05 and rooted to 3.0.2.5 (success) then turned phone off and now it won't leave the samsung screen.
any ideas?

If you read the other threads then what did you try? If nothing works then just Odin a prerooted ROM in and start again.

i wish i could but my computer isn't recognizing my phone to even begin that process. it doesn't recognize the phone in odin at all. gives me an error message saying that the drivers aren't present. i redownloaded the drivers and nothing

Delete and reinstall the drivers. If you don't have the drivers go into development in the top stickies and find the thread about fixing a semi-brick. The first post has a link to 32 and 64 bit drivers.
If Odin doesn't work for you go to the 2nd post and read about using Heimdall...more work but works better than Odin.

If he rooted his phone then he has Clockwork installed, unless you mean with Clockwork Mod 3 and he booted into it and it converted to EXT4 without a compatible ROM. Power down the phone and power back on by holding camera, volume down and power buttons to get into clockwork. If he has CWM 2.x or 3.x you can pull the sd card and put it into a card reader and copy files from this thread on it depending which CWM he has and flash it:

Then he never successfully rooted. Try different USB ports for his phone. Make sure USB debugging is checked in settings>applications>development. Then you can Odin following this thread:

Are you in download mode? Power on while holding the 1 key. Try new drivers, new cable, different ports. Eventually Odin will see it.
Do you BONSAI?
I'm going to try swapping cables only thing I haven't tried. I've already downloaded the drivers and my vibrant connects fine the epic just wont. I have the eb13 md5, the pit. Its frustrating to have the usb not being recognized as the hardest part of unbricking this phone.
U don't need the pit file. Just the tar file.

I believe he got the EB13 prerooted with CWM3 that includes the EB13-EXT4.PIT
Isn't that required for the file structure?

[Q] bricked phone, ideas?

Bricked my phone today. When powered on it freezes on the splash screen. Will boot into download mode but will not connect to Odin (my first choice for reflashing a rom/kernel to fix it). Will boot into stock recovery but everything I've tried flashing fails signature verification.
Anyone have a link or can point me in the direction of something I should be able to install via the stock recovery?
Earlier leaked version would let u flash from stock recovery but on fc05 its a no go. U gonna have to odin the stock el29 or eg30. If ur pc don't recognize your phone other option mobile Odin its 4.99 in the market.
It would be lot easier if u mention what rom or recovery up running?

Yeah mobile odin is a no go bc it won't boot past the splash screen. A couple of the older stock leaks will flash from stock recovery though? I'll have to try that.
Tried wiping repeatedly, still stalls.
I've reinstalled the drivers a couple of times, literally tried 4 different cables & every USB. Phone is recognized by computer when it's stalled on the splash screen, just not in download mode.
thanks all for the input!

PLEASE HELP possibly soft bricked

I accidently wipe my phones internal storage including backups, Im running latest TWRP and it wont read my sd card. I have a custom rom on the sd card but i cant access via recovery. phone boots to recovery and even download mode but i dont think my usb debug is checked and i cant get thru with odin. Im crunched for time as my wife is coming home in an hour and she will be furious if i bricked my phone i need help restoring before she gets home. thanks.
Heres how I fixed the problem, it was easy after doing but confusing getting there. Since the phone would not boot past the galaxy s3 screen there was no way for me to select USB debugging. That option totally did not allow me to use the Galaxy S3 toolkit listed in android development nor could I select and run any of their lists of "Root" roms because something would happen where ODIN didnt boot it correctly. It ran it at first then "Boot" came on then "Reset" came on then "Pass" came on but nothing ever took. I went to samsung-updates.com selected the ICS factory rom and saved it to desktop. Then I unzipped that rom to unveil the TAR file and flash that via Odin and Bam it ran thru no problems. The problems I ran into earlier were links from other posts and it turned out they were either bad links or not for the phone. I actually tried one guys download link that claimed to be specifically for the T999 us version and it turned out to be for another phone all together Im just lucky that flash didnt brick my device even more. Anyways Odin was my friend it was just a matter of downloading the "Correct" rom. thanks to all that helped I appreciated you all taking the time to answer.
I would download this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682. You should be able to use your PC to flash your Nandroid, although i have never done that.
It doesn't matter if USB debugging is checked if the phone is off.
when i boot to recovery it boots to manual mode anyone know what to do next?
You can flash stuff from your computer in download mode through Odin. I hate doing it myself, but will try to look it up for you

Boot to Recovery and reset factory defaults. That will fix it. It will still "stick" on that screen, but after a couple minutes, it will continue.

Found a rom and a kernel in the development section and ran it thru odin and it still didnt take. I noticed that the rom flash thru odin only took about two minutes and not once did i see where the modem cycle was being applied. Still no luck for me. Since my phone does not boot pass the galaxy s3 screen is it possible to get the phone to mount via usb cable and copy the roms to internal storage and install via recovery?
Finally got it working again. Thanks to all that helped.

Soft bricked phone - could use some help!

Hi guys. I recently tried rooting my phone and messed it up pretty bad. I didn't realize the root method was for ICS and not the recently deployed JB update until after I did it. Here's what's going on:
- Can't boot into android. The screen just goes black after the first Samsung logo fades. I do get an AT&T sound afterwards, but it's very distorted.
- I can boot into CWM (which was included with the root?) just fine by holding vol + pwr + home.
Now I've tried a million things from googling around, but I can't seem to find any way to flash my phone (or recover it) back to stock. I know I may get some people saying "an easy google search would show you", but I'm at a complete loss at the moment. Everything seems to be for ODIN + download mode which I can't get to since CWM is installed.
Is there any way I can flash my phone back to stock? Step by step instructions would be great (and where to download firmware).
Thank you!

Download mode and recovery are different. Cwm is recovery, if you can get to recovery, use adb to push a ROM over. If you go to download mode, use Odin to load a tar few package. What phone are you using? D2att or international?
Edit: Nvm the phone type. Use vol- and home combination to get download mode. Vol+ and home for recovery. Go to the stickied thread on how to root and load ROMs. It has an index of TW and AOSP ROMs. All of them prerooted.

How would I go about using adb (I'm apparently clueless)?
I just tried download mode and it worked. How would I use Odin to flash it? I have the stock firmware image (and CM10 which is what I wanted to eventually flash) already downloaded, but I think you need Odin specific zips, right?
EDIT: I just browsed the phone's internal SD and everything is still there, is there a way to just undo what I did in the first place? Or if anything, I still need to backup my IMEI and such from what I've read... I think.

Odin uses tars. Different compression type. If you hook the USB up to the phone while in recovery, it should load adb mode drivers on the comp. Did you have a ROM already on internal? If so, just factory reset, wipe system, load ROM and gapps.

Well, I was just going to root the phone first so I could use Titanium before flashing, so I never ended up putting the ROM on the internal SD.
When I connect the phone when CWM is up, drivers attempt to install but fail.

Get a tar of the stock ICS firmware. Follow the directions while in download mode to flash. TiBU is useless to freeze anything if you're going to load a ROM anyway. Don't be lazy and just reload apps manually. You should always have a backup plan.
For sh*ts and giggles, go into cwm and just factory reset.
Since adb drivers arent loading for you, I'm not going through that process with you. For future though, you will want adb knowledge. Look it up.

I used this thread to flash back to stock AT&T ICS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727443
Didn't work. It still boots into a black screen with a blue LED after the Samsung logo fades. Factory reset also went through, but nothing worked. It just booted into a blank screen again, but with the AT&T sound afterwards.
Sorry for being an idiot, I'm getting kinda desperate here, and I totally realize that this was a bad call on my part without more research.

Sounds like problems Motorola gave grief with on the droids and their flashing tool. I'm looking for a jb tar file. When you used cwm and used Odin, both of them should have removed any times that would cause and issue. Especially since odin of stock fw would be like ghosting an image. Try using the toolkit to lock everything up and go back to stock completely.

Tried using the jb stock image?
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html for adb use and information. To get the drivers to work, try loading the naked drivers pack. It includes Samsung drivers. Remove all Samsung installed crap from your comp and reboot. Manually install drivers by forcing legacy devices or by telling the computer you have the disk if needed after hooking phone back up.

I flashed a rom (yes it was for the proper device) and I followed everything step by step. My phone went into a bootloop where it vibrates and the samsung logo pops up then it turns off and starts over again. I also tried going into download mode to odin back to stock but my device isn't even recognized even after installing kies. what can i do???

What rom did you flash?
What rom did you start with?
Did you recently flash anything else?
What steps did you follow when you flashed?

Reinstall the drivers for this device, a simple google can give you following information:
This is a Windows device driver error. As device drivers can be used anytime your computer is trying to use a hardware resource, it can be difficult to tell which process is causing the error. If you notice the error when trying to do a specific task, identifying the source of the problem may be easier. For detail, see error.info/windows/driver-18.html
