the outer glass on brother's epic is cracked...if i was to remove the outer glass for him, will the screen still work...just wondering if anyone had any experience with that...Everything on the phone currently works but he doesn't want to deal with a cracked screen while messing with his phone.
Does he have TEP? Insurance would cover it I'm sure. I would suggest not to open it and attempt to fix it.

this will NOT work.. The whole screen needs to be replace..
If you have no outer glass you will not be able to use the touch screen feature... so that will blow, and the display screen below the touch sensitive glass is probably very sensitive and will most likely break if you touch it and mess with it, so my advice is don't mess with it man

Dropped my dinc yesterday cracked the screen something bad. Replacement phone is on the was but in the meantime I keep getting pieces of screen in my fingers. Is there any logic/way to remove the glass screen? or am i just stuck not to sure how the touch screen operates. Any ideas???
Try putting a screen protector on it. The glass is the digitizer that registers your touch input.

Awsome didn't think about that. Thanks

The digitizer is the part that picks up the touch of the screen for input. The LCD is the actual viewable screen. Is it just the glass that is broken? Is so you can probably just replace the glass unless I'm mistaken. Unless the glass and the LCD are one piece.
--In 1938 I killed a Hobo--
The hobo murderer is right. You most likely have the digitizer cracked, since that's the topmost layer of the phone. If you're lucky and the actual LCD screen under the glass is fine then you can save a pretty decent amount of money by only replacing the digitizer.
Edit: This teardown by ifixit is a great demonstration of how this phone is put together. It should give you a better idea of which parts are broken: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC-Evo-4G-Teardown/2979/1
So today, I had my phone in my pocket with a pencil and I guess it kind of scratched the screen pretty badly in one area. Nothing isn't working, it's just extremely annoying to look at since I can see the scratches with my screen on. So my question is how much would it cost to replace the glass of the phone? (assuming I had someone do it for me as well). I don't need a screen replacement, but I really want to replace the glass. I do have a 1 year warranty and I'm not rooted so will sprint cover this?
Please respond asap, thanks

If Sprint doesn't, I'd get in connect with Samsung they should.

Seems this gorilla glass2 was made by monkeys....I have a few really light scratches from idk...dust or wiping the screen, still not a scratch on my epics screen after the same treatment for almost 2 years
Edit; sorry off topic and of no help
Gorilla Glass 2 is supposed to be just as strong and scratch resistant as the original, only thinner. Reports like this make me wonder though. My original EVO's screen (original GG) is still perfect, after nearly two years of normal use.
Hi All,
I have a quick question, I want to use an old Gnex has an VoIp home phone.
The top screen is broken (not the LCD, just the glass /digitizer). Can I fix this with clear coat for cars or nail transparent paint ? I just won't want the glass to break into smaller part and get into ears or just get worst. The phone works fine otherwise.
Thanks !

Stick a screen protector over.
Beamed from my Maguro.

Negative. Whatever area you painted there would look terrible and no longer be touch responsive. The front glass for a GNex is seriously like 10 bucks, if you can replace it without damaging the AMOLED.

You can't really remove the glass from the digitizer, the whole thing is about 125$

This is what I had to do to my girlfriends phone after she shattered the screen. Best thing to do if you arent going to replace the whole thing.
It's just a chip in the top right corner, but I don't want to make it works, and screen protector sucks on the galaxy nexus because of the curved screen.
Any idea ?
Is there any, like something that disable the touch completely at the ghost touch areas or something?

Nope.
TLDR: crap display glass.
Story
Once got it.
Then I broke the display glass
Replaced with one from another phone of same size.
Now I don't.
Workaround: When ghost touch happens, make phone sleep then unlock. It should go away.
It usually happened on my case because my finger is oily/wet ~ Try clean your hand and screen?

Thank you very much for the response, although....
Clean my hand and screen? Check
Oily fingers? Tissue with me most of the times
Turn the phone sleep then unlock it? It works for a while
Also this display glass is from when i bought the phone, never replaced it, never broke it...
But... if i remove the glass protector, will it help?

Frankly, idk. I'm not familiar with such things.
Ghost touches only happened to me after I cracked the glass. Then it happened like every 10mins of usage.
(and that one day I dropped my phone and render the touches at the cracks impossible, I have to replace the glass, and somehow *ghost touches disappear 100%)
Also my friend, G532G/DS, does not experience this. He keeps his phone well anyway.
Replace glass and/or keep it uncracked maybe? Sorry cannot help thoroughly.

Thank you for your response, replacing the glass protector seems to be my best choice, but gonna have to wait since have plenty of stuff to do, oh and also my brother have the same phone as me and we have the same symptoms though mine was worse, maybe the glass wasn't original after all...
Anyway back to the question at hand, does removing the glass protector solve the ghost touch? I don't mind going without protector for a while if this ghost touch gone for good
