Okay i found this animation a while back and have been trying to get it to work on the EVO 4G, However i don't know exactly what the hang up is.
Steps i Took:
Extracted the Files
Extracted "Boot Animation.zip
Deleted "android Folder"
Renamed "VZW" to android
rewrote "desc.txt" to say
"480 800 15
p 1 1 android"
Zipped up VZW (renamed to android) and desc.txt and renamed the Zip File to "spc_bootanimation.zip", saved to SD Card
used es file explorer and navigated to system/customize/resource
Deleted the Existing spc_bootanimation.zip
copied the new one from the SD Card over to that same location and changed properties to rw-r-r (to match the properties of the old zip file)
and rebooted device, but on reboot it just played the 4g start up sound with a blank screen, any help is appreciated.
P.S. I DO NOT WANT THE BOOT SOUND ATTACHED TO THIS ZIP FILE, AND WANTED TO USE MY OWN SOUND.
boot will not work unless you 0 compress it cant just be zipped back up!
Use winrar set compression to store! then you should be good to go!

downanimation is different from bootanimation cause in bootanimation any filename can be renamed to whatevar. in downanimation it should be stock names like HVGA_Power_Down_01.jpg/png but jpg is smaller file size, so it's good for some phones.
OK so you failed porting some downanimation from other phones like sensation xe or whateva. But you already resized and crop it to phone display like 320X480 image in photoshop, gimp.
Next thing to do is rename it, download Irfanview it's free.
1.Install and Run it, click File > Batch conversation rename
2.Click radio button Work as: Batch Rename
3.Browse to your Folder where images for downanimation
4.Click on 1 image and press Ctrl+A to select all, then click ADD
5.Review if numbers are aligned.
6.In Batch rename Settings: HVGA_Power_Down_## add # if it has 100 images
7.Make new Folder in desktop and browse it in Output directory for result files then click Start Batch.
8.rename new folder to what is in desc.txt
example: in desc.txt is 320X480 size, android folder, with 7 fps 1 loop 1 pause, put 0 for infinite loop.
Code:
320 480 7
p 1 1 android
9. press Ctrl and click folder and desc.txt right click add to archieve choose archive format:ZIP and compression method:STORE then click OK.- This for winrar
10.open newly created zip with winrar or any open the folder and right click on thumbs.db and delete it.
10. rename zip file according to your downanimation on your phone some are downanimation.zip and some are htc_downanimation.zip.
11. Then copy to system/customize/resource/ folder if you overwrite using es file explorer you don't need to set permission, except it doesnt exist you will have to set permission to zip file RW,R,R if root explorer change to RW,R,R. to the zip file.
I have attached a sample here to give you an idea how it look like, also it's newly created.
PS: Make sure your es file explorer settings is [root explorer][Mountfilesystem] in root explorer file manager just click button [R/W]
Running TNz Blend 2.6.2 with gunslinger.
I put the bootanimation.zip file in system/media and deleted the old file. I changed permissions. I tried renaming the file to sanim.zip. All I get now is the ANDROID logo.
I also tried the following:
How to replace/add a boot animation
1.Download or extract a bootanimation.zip
2.Place the bootanimation.zip on root of your SD card (or use a cloud app i.e. Dropbox, Minus, Box, etc.)
3.Make a copy of the bootanimation and name it sanim.zip and move that to your SD card as well
4.Open a root manager app (I prefer Root Explorer)
5.Navigate to system/media
6.Select Mount R/W (top right in Root Explorer, on by defauly in ROM Toolbox) then either delete, or move existing bootanimation.zip and sanim.zip
7.Navigate back to sdcard, then copy or move bootanimation.zip to system/media and then repeat with sanim.zip
•Some people replace only the bootanimation.zip and others only the sanim.zip, but I find each of those methods seem to create issues if the kernel you are running does not support custom bootanimations by default. So I replace both zips and it has worked well on multiple ROMs/Kernels. If this doesn't work for you, try replacing each individually. One of the three methods will definitely work for your ROM/Kernel combo.
•User 12MaNy has created a thread with several bootanimations available as well some methods for install
•Boot animation sounds can be found/added at /system/etc/poweron.wav and /system/etc/1_Power_on.ogg (may be listed as /system/etc/poweron.bak and /system/etc/1_Power_on.bak if these have been "muted".)
•Also make sure to check and see if your dev has already moded the boot ani setup as nerys71 discovered here.
How to hack custom bootanimation support (Via chris41g) Only works with source built kernels. Thanks dtm_stretch.
1.Rename /system/bin/samsungani to something else... (eg samsungani.old)
2.Rename /system/bin/bootanimation to /system/bin/samsungani
3.After that it will load whatever bootanimation is at /system/media/sanim.zip
After doing the steps above, I get a black screen during boot.
Any help is appreciated.
All I do is rename the old one to .bak and put the new one in system/media and reboot ...works on cm 9

Apparently that should work, but it hasn't for me. I also tried when I was on the Blazer rom.
Hi
Today i'm sharing with you all about Galaxy S (Without mention i9000) for your Galaxy W
See attachment photos for your confirmation and download zip file and also I attach a Sound file ( i personally like this).
So
Download & Install Root Explorer (Here it is)
Download attached bootanimation.zip File and boot_audio.mp3 file and paste into your SD Card.
Extract your boot_audio.zip file and only copy boot_audio.mp3 file (zip file not required)
Now open Root Explorer > Mount Root
Copy your original boot animation file to your backup folder (follow >> system/media/bootanimation.zip)
Now copy your downloaded bootanimation.zip file and paste into system/media folder and Set permission
Copy your download mp3 file named boot_audio.mp3 and paste into system/media folder and set permission
Note: Boot Sound file only work in Indroid RemICS, Digital AOKP, MIUI & Milestone... Not working in CM B1/2
Reboot and Enjoy.
Doesn't work properly with mine cuz the screen show way too big!

I've successfully created a QMG version of the Droid Razr M's boot animation using Samsung Theme Designer. It runs smoothly and doesn't lag. I'd like to thank XDA member @Nonta72 for creating a guide on how to convert zip files to qmg for noobs like me
***Requirements***
Backup of your stock boot animations just in case the new one doesn't work
Rooted device
File Explorer (Make sure that you've given it proper root permissions)
***Instructions***
Step 1: Download the attached zip below and extract it to your SD card (or your device storage).
Step 2: Go to your file explorer app and navigate to /system/media, scroll down and you should see three QMG files: bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, and shutdown.qmg. Delete them after you've backed them up.
Step 3: In your file explorer app copy both of the extracted bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg files from your SD card/device storage and then navigate to /system/media. Paste both of these files in this location. Warning! Your phone will boot loop if you don't use the bootsamsungloop.qmg file!
Step 4: While in the file explorer go back to your SD card/device storage and copy the PowerOn.ogg sound file. Put this in /system/media/audio/ui.
Step 5: Reboot your phone. The Droid Razr boot animation should play as normal. If it doesn't check to make sure that you've followed the above instructions and try again, and post here if you need help with anything.

Here's the stock animation. Which version of the Galaxy Core Prime do you have? Did you delete the old qmg files before you put the new qmg files in /system/media?

I have another boot animation for the Core Prime, but it should also work with any Samsung phone that uses .qmg boot animations.
