[TPU-Cases] - Customer service - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Got to hand it to the owner of TPU-Cases - I've never seen a business run with such care to solving customer issues. I ordered the TPU Matte Black case from Amazon, and unfortunately received the wrong item - an EVO 3D case. Certainly a mistake, possibly an honest one at that, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt when e-mailing them, below is the reply.
Quite honestly, this blew me away. My hat's off to them, and they will have my future business. Love the case by the way, fit is top notch, I like my phone even better than bare.
-------------------------------------------
Hello (me),
My sincere apologies for the mixup. I have refunded your order in full
and be sending you the correct case free of charge on Monday. There is
no need to return the Evo 3D case you can dispose of it or give it away.
You'll receive notification of the refund from Amazon in the next few
hours. I'll follow up on Monday to provide you with the new tracking
number. Very sorry!

Yep, this is a GREAT company to deal with. Honest, fair and reliable. Can't ask for more. I just got my TPU-Cases High Gloss Smoke case for my ET4G and it fits like a glove and doesn't add any bulk to the phone. Awesome stuff.

agree, they have been monitoring the case threads and been responsive and providing insight into some of their thoughts

Wow.

LOL, Thanks for the laugh! That's awesome!

+1. Their customer service is top notch.

+1 Clay is great...AND he's a flashin fool like the rest of us!

This convinces me to buy one of the TPU-Cases and not one of the other brand ones for both of our Epic 4G - Great customer service is the cornerstone of a successful company!
So, the only question left is -- shiny or Matte??

I bought matte but its too slippery for me so I ordered gloss today. I think gloss will look nicer too

I am incredibly impressed. I got the black smoke matt and it is just really nice and classy.
Sending the screen protector as a gift, wow you guys really know how to run a business. You have me as a customer from now on.
Yes the volume buttons take a bit more force to adjust, but frankly I really like it. Too easy for me to change the volume accidentally. I like that it is a bit stiffer.
How do I know if I received the updated screen protector or the original one that wasn't cut correctly? Mine seems too wide to get it to fit on the screen.

I personally like the high gloss smoke on my Epic. It does show fingerprints but I think it looks classier than the matte (although I've also had people tell me the reverse, they think the gloss looks cheap). It also does grip a bit better in your hand than the matte finish does. Black is the more popular choice but I really like that the Galaxy S II logo shows through the case.
Regarding the OP and everyone at XDA, thank you for the support! Prior to starting this business I had a background in customer service so I've applied what I learned in those jobs to my own business. It's paid off as we are one of the few sellers that I see maintaining a 100% feedback rating on both Amazon and eBay. Our success isn't only due to our customer service and quality products it's also largely due to XDA members that have been customers of ours since day 1. Your efforts to spread the word about our products on these forums, to your friends and family, and the Amazon review system is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed. I cant tell you how much I appreciate you all taking the time to do that!

We don't have the new screen protectors yet. I actually ordered about 300 from EZ-Guard that I was going to use as replacements until I could get replacements from our original supplier. I knew I wouldn't have them until the very end of the month so I was trying to come up with a quicker solution for our existing customers. Well, the EZ-Guard screen protectors are complete garbage. I had to send them back. I'm not sure how they are cutting them but they need to find a new method. They are bending the film during the cutting process which causes the screen protectors to have about a 1/4" area around the perimeter that will not stick the screen. I cant believe they even sell these things. I should of checked the reviews for their products (almost all 1 star by the way) on Amazon before ordering but there weren't a lot of options available so I just took a chance. Their customer service is great however they refunded my order before I even sent them back. I'm not sure if we will keep doing the screen protector thing in the future, especially if I have to worry about if they are cut correctly. Our HTC Kingdom, Optimus Black, HTC Vigor, Atrix 2 and Galaxy S II (AT&T) cases are all ready to go and will come with them but after that I will have to reevaluate. Considering I haven't gotten a whole lot of emails from customers regarding the screen protectors I'm thinking a large amount of you are not even using them. It doesn't raise our costs too much including them so I don't mind doing it if customers actually want them and it doesn't cause more headaches for me.
Just send me a PM or an email with your order number and I'll send you a replacement when they arrive. (edit: I'm now swamped with screen protector requests. Sorry guys but I just cannot send them to everyone that ordered. I have to manually print all these envelopes out since they are not in our shipping queue like a normal order. I'm now limiting it only to customers who ordered before the 17th as we stopped advertising them as coming with screen protectors on the 17th. I just don't have the resources to send them to everyone who ordered after the 17th as well. If I could do it and keep the business running I would! The current ETA for the fixed screen protectors is 10/3)

I'm using mine as a temporary till my Skinomi comes in (Don't order a screen protector from them. They listed their screen protectors for sale, in stock, and will arrive in a week but they were just lying to get early sales). It mostly fits and the bubbling around a slight few spots on the border dont extend more than 3mm into the screen.

Ordered a black matte based on this thread. Anxious to try it out.

Just left you 5* feedback on Amazon! Thanks for the excellent service. I didn't see a screen protector included -- was it supposed to be? In any case, I'd love to get one. I'll send you a PM.
"It was out of stock when I ordered, but arrived in just 5 days -- much earlier than what I had expected. Perfect fit, cutouts are at exact locations and good size; slightly raised compared to camera, so that is protected when you lay on the table; also protects screen when laying face down. Good grip with the matte back. Exceeded my expectations!"

I will second your top notch support. I had never heard of TPU before, as I was extremely happy with my case matte naked case. However, you have earned another customer for how you handle yourself. If you make a barely there product with your quality and pricing, I will be completely tpu first before any other Vendor
Oh, matte grey finish,love how classy it looks! It really makes the phone profile that much sexier

Clay is awesome. Enough said lol.

[Case][Review] TPU-cases Matte back black

This is a review of a case made by TPU-cases.com of their Matte back black case.
TPU-cases.com: http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36&products_id=147
1st impression:
I received the case prior to getting my Epic 4G Touch, and after opening it up and taking a brief look, I was rather impressed by the case. The materials used are good quality and it looks well made. Initially I did notice that the surface of the case is a little slippery, but its nothing too bad. Overall I had a very good 1st impression of the case.
There was a screen protector included but I fail pretty badly trying to put those on. I normally don't use a screen protector on my phones, but I wanted to give it a try for the sake of review purposes and I was unable to get it installed correctly. This may be user error, but it looks like it may be a combo of an error of mine and the screen protector... it was addressed here by the owner of TPU-cases, OneStepAhead.
After I got the phone:
I received my Epic 4G Touch at 10am on the 16th, launch day. After getting everything set up and activated through Sprint, I installed the case before leaving the store. I was very impressed at how well the case fit, it was a perfect fit. Installation was very easy as well, I had zero trouble getting the case on properly.
One thing I noticed about the phone is that the camera on the back was going to come in contact with whatever surface you lay the phone on. I noticed that right away and was instantly hoping the case would solve that issue, and it did. When you install the case, it sets the camera back in a little so that the lens of the camera doesn't make contact with the surface, which I loved. Also on the front of the phone, the case provides a small lip around the whole phone, which provides a little protection for your screen if you were to set it on a table with the screen down. Overall this helps protect your phone and TPU-cases did a good job.
When I was trying to decide on getting a case for this phone, I was worried about the case taking away the benefit of the thinness of the device, which was a main selling point of the phone for me. I was pleasantly surprised that this case doesn't add much thickness at all, its only very minor and it still preserves the overall slim profile of the device, which is great.
I was also wondering about use of the ports and buttons on the phone with the case being there. The headphone jack, power button, micro usb port, and microphone are all easily accessible and unaffected. I did plug a Samsung headphone into the 3.5mm headphone jack without a problem. The power button is easy to press and is uncovered. There is no problem plugging the micro usb in to charge... the speaker and microphone is uncovered as well.
The only small downside to this case is the volume rocker. When I press the volume rocker to adjust the volume, you definitely have to press it a little harder than normal, and there is a cover over top of the buttons. You can still control the volume, it just is not as easy as I would like it to be. This is not anything that is going to stop me from purchasing the case, and as a whole it's pretty minor to me.
Pictures:
I took 4 pictures to hopefully show the points I've made in this review for you all. I apologize is the quality of the pictures isn't great, it was taken with another cell phone camera as I was taking pictures of the new phone. If anyone would like additional pictures of the case I'd be happy to take them.

Conclusion:
As a whole, this case I got from TPU-cases.com is great, and I'd highly recommend taking a look. The value you get for a very small price is awesome and I will be buying more cases from them (I like to change cases from time to time). Thank you TPU-cases for providing a great product. I give TPU-cases a 9/10 and the only point taken away is for the volume rocker.
If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer.
Just ordered this case on Amazon last night. It's supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. Thanks for the review, now I know i'll be happy with it
ordered one today
i just ordered one these today and am looking forward to receiving the case soon.
I ordered the smoke matte translucent model. Can't wait!
That looks great! My smoke case is in the mail. Can't wait to get it, my phone is nakey lol. From your review, ill definitely be buying more colors
Yeah I am very happy with the case, hope you all enjoy yours
I like the TPU case too and I will get one first as soon as I get my phone from letstalk, grrrrrr.
Eventually I want a casemate barely-there cause I prefer hard shell...but these are excellent cases, especially for the money.
I have one for my Evo and I too can't wait for an ET4G version

I haven't dropped it yet, but just going off the case itself, I think it would survive a normal drop. I'm not sure about a 10 foot drop onto concrete or worse, but I'd imagine it would stand up ok for most drops. The material used to make it is very flexible but sturdy on the phone. My only concern for drops would be the screen, and if it was dropped on an angle like a curb.
Yeah, that's my biggest concern. I guess it's better than going naked. I dropped my Evo and cracked it corner to corner. That was a bad day.

Yeah I saw that, must be pretty popular choice. Hope they get more in soon for ya.
Thanks for this! Glad to hear you are happy with the case. I don't know if anyone mentioned it in this thread, but the screen protectors we included are not cut properly. They are cut to the exact size of the glass which makes them near if not impossible to install without the edges peeling up. I'll be sending replacement screen protectors to those that request them once I receive the fixed ones. It's disappointing, it's the first time we included screen protectors with our cases and the first time using this screen protector supplier. Live and learn I guess. Please don't send me messages about the screen protector yet, I'll post something about it here and on our website closer to the time I'll have replacements. For the time being I've just removed any mention of the cases coming with screen protectors so future customers wont have any expectations of receiving one with their case (although they still will receive one).

This is the 2nd time making the matte cases, the first time we did it for the Evo 3D after receiving a ton of requests for. They ended up not selling very well though. I think I had 500 of the matte black made for Evo 3D and I still have 1/2 of them 6 weeks later. The Epic 4G Touch on the other hand I sold out of 500 before the phone was even released! I'm telling people 9/23 but I actually think they will be in on Tuesday or Wednesday. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The 3D just was a bad draw. If you had made some for the OG evo you probably would have seen better numbers. I am going to guess the ones for the ET4G will fly off the shelves and I can't wait to get my case
Edit: Some of your products have Prime shipping while others don't. Just curious on why that is because I have a Prime account hahaha
i ordered the high gloss black from amazon. anyone have opinions on high gloss? or should i cancel and get matte black or the high gloss translucent
Love the Black Matte case. But like stated , the screen protector doesn't fit well. Phone feels good in the hand with the case.
I got the glossy smoke one on now I dig it

That screen protector thing had me puzzled for a while, it all makes sense now.

[REVIEW] Ghost Armor full body for T989 Hercules

So I've just placed an order for a Ghost Armor full body skin for my Tmo SGS2 Hercules and this thread is to post a review once I get it!
For those not aware of Ghost Armor, its a wet application screen/body protector that in my opinion is one of the best. I had it on my Nexus S which at one point was in a sweatshirt pocket when I happened to slip on some ice and as phones seem wont to do, it flew out of my pocket and landed screen down on the pavement about 10 feet in front of me. There was not a scratch on the screen nor a crack. Later, while sitting in a recliner my phone slipped out of my pocket and into the mechanics of the chair (without my knowledge). When I put down the foot stool and realized my phone was no longer in my pocket I lifted up the chair and the phone fell out. This time there was damage...to the screen protector; a MASSIVE gash from where one of the mechanisms in the chair had scraped against it. To my amazement the screen was undamaged.
Now that my own little Ghost Armor history is up I'll post a few pictures from the website to give you an idea.

The available finishes for the full body protectors are Black Carbon, Gun Metal Carbon, and White Carbon (the website says you can get a matte one as well but the guy at the kiosk I went to said that the matte ones don't adhere very well to battery covers like ours so he wouldn't apply one). I ordered the White Carbon and will be getting it applied on Friday morning.
For reference, you can buy the screen only protector for $14.99+s/h&tax on the website and the full body kit for $24.99+s/h&tax on the website but if you go to a kiosk to get it installed by someone who knows what they're doing the full body kit'll run you a hefty $42.
~~~~~~~~~~What a long week its been! Jeez! This morning I finally went and got my Ghost Armor applied and DAMN does it look sexy. Below are a few pictures:
Review
So to start with, I got the White Carbon skin which I find to be massively smexy. The first thing I noticed is that unlike on my Nexus S, the edges of the protector along the sides are not very sharp and are actually pretty comfortable to hold in your hand. The second thing I noticed was that the claim that this will improve grip isn't necessarily true; don't get me wrong, this doesn't make the phone slippery or anything of the sort. The back just isn't quite as sticky as the soft-touch back, however, the sides are much more grippy than the standard chrome bezel.
The biggest issue people have with screen protectors though is not how it looks on the back of the phone or how grippy they are: its the screen, so lets get to that. First off, without even turning the phone on it is MASSIVELY hard to tell there is even a protector on. You can see a feint outline that extends very nearly from the top bezel to the bottom bezel. There is a cutout at the top for the speak and thats really it. Even the capacitive buttons are covered (they do not however seem any less responsive to me). Aside from the outline, the first you'll notice the screen protector is on is when you touch the screen; it doesn't feel as … glass-like. I have very calloused fingers (having been a guitar-player for over ten years) so its hard for me to quantify what it feels like but it doesn't have that slippery glass-like feeling of the new screen.
It doesn't feel cheap either though, and thats nice. Really thats all there is to say. The screen still looks down right beautiful and remains very responsive. I'm super stoked about this protector and I think it was well worth the money.
are you talking about the one that has the stand? Those are made out of really cheap material. They crack and chip easily. I put one on my phone and when I tried to take it off, it chip the corner then later on I decided to return it so I take it off the phone again and it chip on the other corner. I was very care when I tried to remove it but it still chip.
Had my SG2 for less than a week and while walking across a parking lot, it slipped from my hand and fell about three feet and landed face down. Long story short, screen shattered. I had the Ghost Armor on my Vibrant and the screen never shattered when it fell from higher distances. Needless to say, got my replacement phone and it's going to get the Armor screen this weekend.
Had ghost armour on my nexus s also only on the screen though was running for a bus flew out my pocket onto concrete pavement. Crack wasnt to bad was still usable thank god because I was on vacation. It kept everything intact
Ive had ghost Armour on every phone in the last year and screen protectors are really good and the carbon fiber added a nice black look to my sensation rather than the ugly brown. I really want to see the white one waiting for the kiosk at my mall to get one so I can get one for free. benefits of being an employee for cell phone stores lol
Can someone link the site info? Id like more pictures and literature.
I have ghost armor on my ipad and love it. I was gonna go with the white carbon this time around for my s2. But I chose the phantomskin chromatics in pearl white instead. One I get it I'll try to write a review. I kinda wanted an extra battery door like they had for my vibrant. So I don't lose the galaxy s II.
are you talking about the one that has the stand? Those are made out of really cheap material. They crack and chip easily. I put one on my phone and when I tried to take it off, it chip the corner then later on I decided to return it so I take it off the phone again and it chip on the other corner. I was very care when I tried to remove it but it still chip.
I got mine done at a mall kiosk... Payed $22, looks like its not even on the screen... I'm really happy with it
I got mine ghost armored a the mall, but the kid working there was obviously new and botxched the whole job. I just got the sides and screen done in clear. The sides were overlapping on the button and the screen was cut off early at the bottom. I refused to pay for it. Can someone that has applied it themselves post if it is the actual product that is disproportionate or if the guy that applied it was just a moron?
That's weird i got $5 dollars off. Oh well money off is always a good thing. Your welcome
Heading to the mall today to get the screen protector done at the kiosk. I called ahed to confirm they had them for the GSII as well that they have done the installs on this phone and good to go on all accounts. I'm just hoping this screen protector doesn't raise up at all once the D30 case is put back on like it does with my current T-Mobile pos screen protector
I'll try to post some pictures once it's on as well as any comments. I've always used Zagg before so we'll see how the Ghost Armor sp stacks up.
A rant about screen protectors and cases...
Some days I just get frustrated about this particular debatable issue and needed to rant..so...lucky you (all).
I have this glorious, beautiful, mint condition blue galaxy s3. It's lightweight, beautiful screen, etc. But how many of us really get to enjoy the phone as it was designed - I would guess few to none. Why? I don't know about you guys, but, as soon as I get my beautiful new phone, it is immediately enshrouded (is that a word?) in a screen protector and some sort of case (TPU, otterbox) etc. And there it stays. I mean, I have to keep my phone in mint condition, don't I ?(rhetorical). This so when I want another phone, I can sell it on ebay or swappa as mint and get the most money - and brag about how I take care of my equipment and how it has been protected the entire time I owned it.
Every once in a while I have to do a battery pull or something and I get to hold my baby in my hand, as God - wait, I mean Samsung, intended and enjoy it. And then, something happens. I get kinda mad.
Why am I so determined to protect it? To not enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed? Why can't I just let it be free?!!!!!!!
The answer: I don't know. I'm a geek. I'm anal retentive. I don't want it to get any dings in it if I accidentally drop it, or my two year old does.
But dammit - I want my phone to be naked!! (I silently scream to myself).
Do you, good reader, silently scream to yourself? Am I alone in this quandary? Please, share.
Did your wife set you on hold ?
If so, take a snickers.
You could always use a full-body protector in place of a case. Not quite as protective, but allows the beauty to come through.
BTW, I suffer the same over-protective condition.
Better yet OEM's could just make it so that the back and side bezel is one piece so that we could just replace the entire phone back easily... There is one phone I can think of like this and I was so happy to see the design just wish more oem's would do it
OP, you've expressed pretty much exactly why I was scanning the accessories sub-forum: trying to see how many people make it without a screen protector and/or case. Actually, I really don't mind the thin Diztronic TPU case I have, but I am really itching to remove the screen protector. I sold older phones (Hero, Evo, Photon, Rezound) as "mint" without using a screen protector, but since I got this GS3 last fall, I've read so many posts about how much easier this screen scratches that I haven't been able to bring myself to remove it. But I'm so very tempted...
Well I'm glad I'm not alone. I, too, have a diztronic TPU which is fine - but, as I'm sure you know, holding the phone in your hand without it is so nice! Regarding the screen - I have used the tech armor HD and one's that resist fingerprint via Amazon. They are fine - and so inexpensive PLUS they offer lifetime guarantee and great customer service that I'm relatively happy. I've also used the Zagg HD which is fair. And I *E$*$**#*# HATE Zagg as a company and I could do an entire separate post on how little I think of them.
Despite the rant, my phone remains protected.
On a side note, despite the TPU - there are two bizarre little stellate / starburst defects on the back cover. It's hard to call them scratches or cracks.
Anyway, what usually happens is that I have the phone long enough that eventually I say screw it and enjoy it for some time. That's what I did with my DINC.
I'll give the tech armor HD a try, seems reasonable at $6.95 -- I'm still rocking the one that came with the Diztronic case (maybe that's part of my problem).
That sucks about your back cover, but luckily those can be replaced fairly cheaply, especially if you have that Samsung 50% discount.
And yeah, I did the same thing with the Evo, ripped the screen protector off after about a month and never looked back; but I always have a TPU, I need that lip over the screen because of incurable clumsiness.
I, too, have the Diztronic Matte Blue TPU and applied the screen protector it came with it. I, too, scanned through this subforum and googled whether I could do without the case. Several times. Even looked for excuses to do so.
I finally decided I need to have it on.
I use a beautiful luxury 'suncase' leather pouch, fits beautifully, very thick meaning it a protected but I still get to hold it as samsung intended. Just be careful not to drop it (which I haven't for the last 3 phones) Can't see the point in covering the phone up unless you work in a hostile environment.
I may ditch my diztronic in lieu of a full body film protection like bestskinsever or zagg. For me, the biggest concern with using the phone naked is the fact that it's really slippery in my hand, so these films would provide much better grip. I think that's the closest I'll get to being able to use my phone naked.
They only way i use my phone naked is with the spigen back cover, its matte black. Looks gray with the flash
If you want a semi-naked phone get the Ultra Slim Covers by Samsung.
I have the translucent one on my marble white S3 and when you hold the phone it's almost like it has nothing on it
My OCD probably kicks in, I just cant handle a brand new phone with my bare hands. I even use a microfiber cloth to cover it till I get a scratch guard and a case, which is the very 2nd day I get the phone.
I usually spend a lot on cases.
Just got a S3 and this is the cover I got for it.
Oh man, good luck! Please keep us updated, I will be following your progress carefully.
I used to have an otterbox on my s3 but then it became too hard to change the battery when it dies (I have spares) so I picked up one of those soft rubber cases. Works like a charm, and does protect the phone and makes it so it doesnt slide over the table. I also went from the really good flexible screen protectors to the more solid matte ones that dont use the solvent. What a difference a matte protector makes, cant live without it!
i use the phone without any protectors. no screen protect nor case.
everything is ok its still like on its first day :laugh:
I honestly trusted the " unscratchable gorilla glass " scheme.. :banghead: I'm using an otterbox commuter case without a screen protector and I have had my GS3 since April... there is about 3 GOOD scratches that are obviously visible when the screen isn't clean.. when I clean the screen though, it just makes me cringe to see the scratches.. Possibly from my nails unknowingly running across the screen and I do have dry hands/fingers so maybe that could also be a culprit to this conflict.. but really? I didn't expect scratches to show up this soon on this phone.. Especially knowing how much I paid for it. Other than that though, I love my GS3.
Best screen protector for Nexus 7 2013?
Is it just me but I have not found here and on the internet particular discussions about what is the best screen protector for this tablet. I live in Italy and right now it seems that the best ones I can get are the MOFRED, based on the numerous reviews on the British amazon. They come with 6 protectors for a good price.
I also saw that Brando already sells its screen protectors for this new tablet. I never had problems with this brand, but I would like to hear some feedbacks from you.
Do you have any suggestions or reviews to share?
i have been looking around on ebay.co.uk for some screen protectors, but i dunno if i should take glossy, matte or ultra clear u can get 2 for like less then £2 with free shipping.
but i will look onto here to see if others have tested some out and say if they r good
Go with the Zagg invisible shield , sure its 25.00$ for one screen protector, but it has a lifetime warranty . Zagg will replace it at anytime for the lifetime of the device
You know what they say about opinions...
Mine is as stated, and I stand by it.
Of course, it's your choice.
Best SP is really subjective to opinions, so you're not going to get a true answer because honestly there isn't a "best", just a favorite of that individual. Some prefer glass, some wet installs, an some dry installs. That said, Ghost Armor is my preferred choice of screen protectors and full body protectors. I always buy Ghost Armor for all of my devices that they cover. They recently released their 2013 Nexus 7 protectors, which I have been anxiously waiting for! While I normally buy their full body protection, I just went with the screen this time. Ghost Armor just offers clear for the rear so far, and I wanted white carbon fiber like I have in my Note 2. I bought dbrand for the rear to give them a shot, as I've never used their products before. After reading through their thread in this subforum, I was glad to see them active on the boards here. All of their customers are happy with their products, and I I think they look great! They offer a white carbon fiber just like I was looking for, so I'm anxious for it to get delivered so I can install it.
Ghost Armor has a lifetime warranty just like Zagg(as was mentioned previously). I've even messed up an install of a Ghost Armor before an they were happy to replace it free of charge even though it was my fault an not an issue with their product. Also, Ghost Armor doesn't have the horrible orange-peel look like Zagg has. I used to use Zagg in the past but couldn't stand the look or feel of Zagg! I was actually in a coma when my pre-ordered Evo LTE came in the beginning of last June. My parents went to Best Buy an picked it up for me, and had Best Buy install a Zagg HD screen protector. I got a replacement for it so I could install it myself as soon as I was capable of doing so. While their HD line is MUCH better than their standard SP, it still has the orange-peel look and has to much grip for my taste, which doesn't allow your fingers to glide across the screen as easily as it does when the screen is bare. Again, it's a preference thing, and some people swear by Zagg. I personally don't like the the added friction, though some do, and I absolutely can't stand the orange-peel look!! I don't see why anyone would deal with the way Zagg looks! 24 hours after installing Ghost Armor, you can't even tell it's on there unless you're up close and looking for it!! They cost around $10 less than Zagg, and quality is far superior!! I highly recommend Ghost Armor! If you want the same look and feel of a bare screen, then you should definitely try them out! I think that if you do get Ghost Armor, you'll be a customer for life just like me! I'm expecting delivery of my Ghost Armor for my '13 N7 today!!
Here's the link to 2013 Nexus 7 on Ghost Armor's site : http://www.ghost-armor.com/product/details/asus-nexus-7-2013
EDIT: Just walked to the mailbox and my Ghost Armor was inside!! I'll post some pics of it sitting on the screen for now, and I'll post more pics after I install it.
I picked up the Official Asus ones. They are $12.99 and comes with 1 Clear and 1 Matte.
I personally like the Matte but others like the clear.
The Matte is nice and helps keep fingerprints down. The Fit is great and very tight. I would recommend the "hinge" method to align it up before trying to apply. They are higher quality and thicker, similar to a Spigen. There are only 2 holes for the camera and light sensor. Should last quite a while, giving you a second one to use in case of emergency.
I personally would stick to a Dry Apply unless the screen has curved glass or tapered edges (like my Galaxy Nexus). I ended up pulling it off after a few months because it start getting spots. I forget the Brand but I've had horrible luck with all wet applies. I've even tried several brands across multiple devices before giving up.
If I can see the SP, it will drive me nuts until I pull it off. I've never seen a wet apply that doesn't look like crap.
I am also curious if you had the annoying problems with bubbles.
@player911: what do you mean by "Matte" and the "hinge method"?
PS: Apparently the ghost armor are not available in Europe? I just searched on the British Amazon. I don't know if they send also in Europe from the official website.
Here's some pics, I didn't photo all of the edges, but it looks awesome and basically doesn't have any gaps on the edges! Definitely fits edge to edge! The small space will allow for easier install, and are almost nonexistent. I did photo the two holes in the SP. One is for the camera and the other for the proximity sensor. Also you can see in the close up photo showing the two holes, the backing paper that the SP is shipped on is what is cloudy looking, not the actual SP. You can't tell in these photos, but you'll see that it's crystal clear and unnoticeable in the pics I take after it's installed.
Also, I forgot to mention earlier, but if you don't want to do the install yourself then you can take it to one of their stands in the malls an have them do it. Oh, never mind that, I forgot you were outside of the US, so they may not have any local stores near you. Completely irrelevant though if you're like me and wanna do it yourself. May be helpful info for some people who are in the US and don't wanna do the install themselves
Zagg all the way. I've got one on right now, so I don't know what anyone is talking about not having one for the new model. perfectly with a cutout for the camera and sensor offset to the right. The package still has the original n picture on it, but says "new". I pulled it out of the box at bestbuy and lo and behold, it is the correct fit.
I'm surprised you've never seen a Ghost Armor SP installed. Not sure where you live, but most of my local malls have a Ghost Armor stand in them. You can go to one and see their products installed on various devices. You don't even notice there's a SP installed unless you're really looking for it. Best SP I've EVER used, and I've tried a lot of brands over the years!
iSmooth is another excellent option for plastic-based "dry application" screen protector.
I bought a NILLKIN screen protector
With shipping, it costs me $5 which is quite expensive...
SnuG Watch Bands Bumper/Strap Review
Disclaimer: I do not represent the company in any other manner then as a customer. I received the product for free as explained below.
I'd like to begin by explaining how I came to receive the products I'm reviewing. I read a post on these forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2973627) which mentioned these new bumpers. After browsing www.funwatchbands.com I added some bumpers to my cart. However I never completed the purchase as shipping from the USA to the UK was a rather steep $18! I made comment about the shipping in the same thread. Not long after I received an email from the guys at SnuG containing a discount code which essentially meant all I paid for was the $18 shipping and the product was free. So I thought what the hell and ordered a black and a purple bumper on 16th December.
A few days later SnuG replied to the above thread acknowledging the issue with international shipping. They also added that they had thrown in a few 'extras'! Festive spirit a plenty! The items shipped on the 23rd December and I eagerly awaited what surprises the parcel would contain!
Today, 28th December I found out. The guys at SnuG can only be described as AWESOME! I ordered two bumpers and received 7 of various colour. Not content with that, they also threw in a complete black strap with clasp AND an additional blue, purple and red strap! I was genuinely shocked at the generosity. So thanks to all the guys at SnuG for extending the festivities of this time of year for me!
I'd like to just take a moment to point out a few things here. When unknown companies or representatives take time to interact with consumers on forums and social media it always puts my mind at ease about any thoughts of legitimacy. Kudos to SnuG.
Secondly it's good to see that they have acknowledged the issue with shipping costs and are looking at ways of reducing.
Moving on to the products then...
Quick word on packaging. Minimalistic and environmentally friendly just about covers it. The items came in a long brown envelope which looks like its made from recycled material. Aside from the products inside, there was a letter again printed on recycled paper and a small round 'insert' for one of the bumpers.
I personally like this type of packaging. Less mess and no fuss.
The letter detailed a brief few paragraphs about the products, their development and their future development. I get the impression from SnuG that they care a great deal about their products and how they are received, as it went on to say that although they are happy with the current version, they feel it can be improved and as such, they expect a new version to be available January 2015.
They kindly included a discount code to be used in January for a free new improved version. Cheers!
I'll begin by talking about the bumpers. Installation is pretty easy and self explanatory. I found that lining up the button hole and stretching the bumper on was the best method after a few attempts.
Fitment is pretty good. The bumper is a good fit in terms of coverage and the cut outs are spot on, however I do feel that one area it could be improved is in it's attachment. It can be 'accidentally' removed i.e. by coat cuff if caught. It's not enough of an issue to avoid purchasing but it may be worth waiting to see what January's version improves.
The material is a silicone and its a real decent quality. Feels hard wearing but smooth to the touch. Its just pliable enough that its not too loose, especially after installation. Like most silicone though, it does pick up dust and lint (from hands in coat pocket) but does brush off fairly easy. Seems to affect the black colour more then the others but that's probably because it shows up more.
Addressing protection, it raises a couple millimetres above the screen and offers a good knocks and bumps protection to the 360 body and to a degree, may deflect some potential screen damage - though that is obviously not its main intention. What its intended for, it does well. Silicone cases are as old as smartphones and are still a top choice for most. So this is tried and trusted really.
Colour options available give a good selection for consumer. If I had one negative to say about options, I'd say some of the naming of the colours is a bit misleading. "Chrome Black" doesn't make a whole lot of sense given its simply a matte black bumper. The colours themselves though, are bright and vibrant.
The only issue I experienced with the bumpers was 1 of 7 did not have the cut outs. It looks as though the cuts just didn't go completely through. Nothing a knife couldn't sort out though.
The only other bumper I've tried is a 3D printed plastic one from Shapeways which was truly awful. In comparison, these silicone bumpers from SnuG are on a completely different playing field where quality is concerned. And to be honest, I feel silicone is a far superior material to use for this purpose then plastic.
In summary, I've no real complaints with the bumpers other then the aforementioned room for improvement where attachment (hold) is concerned. I would certainly recommend SnuG bumpers IF shipping suits your pocket. On price, I'd have to be honest and say that at $29.99 for a pack of six bumpers is probably a little too much. I can see where they have come to that price, at $5 each it doesn't seem too bad, but for a multi pack $19.99 may have been more appealing. I'm sure if sales and interest in the products takes off, pricing will go down in time. However, considering there is very little competition out there so...
Moving on to the straps. At a good 5-6mm (which is about the same as the stock leather) thick they feel real solid. Again the silicone is high quality, smooth and rugged. The company logo is engraved into the silicone on each strap closest to watch body end - it's well placed, well done.
Installation was a cinch. If you've ever changed a watch strap, you'll have no issue here. Pop out the spring loaded pins, re-insert. Done. I had to cut a good CM off for a comfortable fit and I have average-to-slim wrists. With a few adjustment holes on the clasp too, you get a good range of size options which will cover larger wrist sizes too.
It's been pretty cold here in the UK so can't yet really comment on sweat resistance! However I can say that they feel really comfortable to wear. Having bought a cheap deployment clasp off Amazon previously and whilst it was functional, it was cheap quality I'm happy to report that the ones used by SnuG are of a high quality. You don't feel it there when worn. It springs open nicely when the buttons are pressed. It doesn't rattle at all when closed and feels secure and solid.
Quite honestly, I've not got a bad word to say about the straps. I can't see them having any detrimental effect on the watch back or contributing to cracked back. They slot in as well as the stock leather as unlike metal bands, you've no links to deal with here.
Again range of colours is plenty and I love that you can mix and match colours to suit your requirements. Add a bumper and your options for colour customisation are plenty! The straps do not detract from the elegance of the 360 thanks mainly to the quality of the silicone and clasp. This is a solid and sound product made with care, quality and pride.
I can only highly recommend these SnuG products. The silicone straps are a great alternative to metal and leather which may appeal more to fitness and sports persons, but not limited to. The range of colour customisation is universally appealing.
I get a really good feeling from SnuG, putting aside the freebies (genuinely), they seem like a sound, modern and professional outfit that listen to feedback and respond.
The products they produce are top quality and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again in future.
See the link below for a whole host of photos I took of the products I received.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: just noticed SnuG have reduced shipping cost to $8 globally. Great news! Also use XDADEVELOPERS at checkout for 10% off (until 7th January).
THANK YOU!
Wow! Thank you so much for the feedback and taking the time to write such a detailed review. We really appreciate it. We can't wait to share the updated protectors with you all very soon.
Are you guys able to say what will be different about the updated version? This is exactly what I've been looking for my 360. I got one of the 3D printed covers from shapeways a while back but it ended up falling off and getting lost (it was better concept than execution anyway). These look much better but I'm curious if you guys have found a solution to the bumpers being pulled off (maybe some kind of lip that grips the bottom). I appreciate in advance any reply!
EDIT: just realized you're handing out codes for the updated protectors. I'm buying a set now then!
Ordered mine on the 2nd didn't ship till the 6th and now I know why the USPS is broke. It left LA to go to Springfield, MA when I live in Missouri. Yup, that's how I would have done it. LOL
Once ordered something from Amazon that technically went twice past my house (on a map if you drew lines from places on tracking details) before it eventually got delivered! Given the warehouse it originated from is about 20miles from me, found it quite funny!
Great review. +1
Would also be interested in their steel bands for Moto 360. They look "okay" at best, but the connector to the Moto 360 itself in regards to the back cracking is what I'm curious about.
Their Facebook page recently updated a status with some details. Basically the only change is a more "snug" fit. Which to be honest, is all it really needs. The current version is far too easily removed by accident.
Updated Protectors
Hey All,
Thanks for the continued support. A sample from a new mold was approved and we hope to have them ready to ship by about the 20th and will be updating the site shortly to take preorders.
The feedback was used to make some very minor changes that will make a big difference.
The material on the inside of the protector is no longer as slippery feeling as the material on the outside which helps the protector stay on much better.
The lip that wraps around the watchface was slightly reduced to give a less bulky appearance.
The inside depth was also increased slightly to allow the lower lip to better wrap under the ridge on the watch.
We put the sample to the test on our 360 and pulled our arm in and out of a tight shirt sleeve several times and it doesn't budge. We can't wait to share them with you!
We will also be introducing some new options to the 6 colors we already offer in the upcoming weeks.
Awesome! And those of us who purchased the original versions will be receiving the updated styles for free, right? How soon should we expect them?
In an update to my review, I just wanted to add my extended experience with the products.
To be brutally honest, I'm not rocking the bumpers currently. Basically I was finding that too often for my liking, the bumper was getting accidentally knocked off. It's less of an issue when wearing baggier sleeve clothing but with tight cuff clothing it is a bit of a nuisance. Couple of times I hadn't noticed immediately that the bumper was gone.
This takes nothing away from the look, feel and quality of the product though.
Thankfully, I firmly believe the guys at SnuG will have sorted this. It seems like something that could be rectified relatively easy with some design changes. From what SnuG have said here, they appear to be addressing it.
The straps, I'm still rocking however! I've not yet returned to the leather. I can't see that changing anytime soon.
Don't know if it applied across the board, but I certainly received a printed note with my delivery which gave me a discount code to apply at checkout to get the new protectors free when they launch.
Got mine last Friday after the mail man took it half way round the world and back. I have not used the band yet but it seems very well made and has a good feel. As I purchased mainly for the protector and as much as I love the look and feel of it, there is no way it was going to stay on even without sleeves. I spent a lot of time chasing it down. I even tried using some narrow pieces of 2 way tape but with the material being silicon it improves it staying on just slightly. I did get the same card for the new version so I will be giving the 2.0 version a spin and hopefully can report back with good results.
New protectors
Anybody who ordered protectors, or a band that came with one from funwatchbands.com should have gotten information on how to get a updated replacement (If you got a protector for free / as an extra gift we can not replace it).
We are very excited to start shipping them out next week!
Next week we will also announce and start offering a new protector style option made from the updated mold with more to follow.
ANYBODY WHO PREORDERS A WATCHBAND SET OR PACK OF PROTECTORS BETWEEN NOW AND 1/19/15 WILL GET THIS NEW PROTECTOR CASE WITH THEIR ORDER FOR FREE! (no code to enter)
I Just ordered mine from funwatchbands.com (1x "Chrome Black" SnuG watch band SET for Moto 360).
I hope that I will receive the new protector!
I really want to protect "my precious", I accidentally did a small scratch on it yesterday and I was soooooo annoyed
Got the updated protector today and it is a wonderful improvement. I would also like to say that this company ROCKS. They are more than plesent to deal with and I will be purchasing more from them in the near future. Now I know everyone would like to know what's up so I took some pictures and will share them here. Now keep in mind that I am not using the Snug band yet because my main interest was in the protector. But the band is quality built and has a very good look and feel. I however have a cheep-o Casio band that I picked up for like 8 bucks. I like the styling of it even though it's cheep. I had to do a little trimming to get it to work but I am satisfied with the results.
Now on to the pictures of the protector portion of my purchas. As most know version 1 was prone to slipping off. They seem to have fixed this in version 2. The inside seems to have a better grippy feel. It fits tighter and almost seems to click in place around the back side of the watch. The surface of the protector has that same nice soft feel as the band and I really like the look and the protection it should give. The edge is less raised than the last version but still sits slightly above the face. Wonderful product with wonderful service from the folks at FunWatchBands.com
Looks like a great improvement from your photos. Lipping around the rear will make a massive difference.
Protectors are rubbish - don't waste your money
I tried version 2 of the bumper protector yesterday and it fell off as soon as I put my jacket on.
No improvement on version 1 in my opinion and I will not be using the bumper as it will probably just fall off.
Not suitable for purpose and Snug watchbands are ripping people off by selling this crap!
I'll reserve judgement until I see for myself or someone with more then one post gives their comments. I don't trust someone with one post, recently joined and all they had to say was bad.
I put it on yesterday and have been at work for 4 hours today ( it is required by my job that I wear long sleeves ) I have been checking my watch regularly to check how the bumper is staying in place and as far as I can tell it hasn't moved since I installed it.
Not saying that someone else might not have the same experience, but so far it’s a winner for me.
I made the recent purchase as well. And unfortunately my experience isn't so good. But with all due respect i just haven't reached out to the Snug Watch people to see if i got a bad batch. So I ordered a set of two protectors the red and the black. And as a really nice gift they added an extra protector free of charge.BUT!!!! my set of protectors just do not stay on my watch. Now its been freezing here in florida lately lol so ive been wearing a jacket and plenty of times i look at the face of the watch and the protector is gone. Ive tried all three just in case one was defective but i have the problem on all three protectors.
