As for boot animation..You must replace the boot animation.zip with root explorer. But I dont have the knowledge in that someone else will have to answer that for you..I do know in order to change your lock screen wallpaper u must go into settings-Display-Screen Display..Then at bottom you will see Lock screen...click under that on wallpaper and change away..Also if u click on clock at far bottom u can change clock position to (top, middle or bottom)..Hope this Helps..

to change the boot animation your phone must be rooted and for now using zedomax kernel v3. then using root explorer place bootanimation.zip into system/media. Reboot.

That's the thing, I'm coming from the G2x on T-Mobile and I would just replace the bootanimation.zip file, but I don't see bootanimation.zip in our phones under system/media. Is there something that I'm missing?
Gingerbread on samsung uses .qmg files, I don't think there is a way to change the boot animations yet without modifying the kernel. bootsamsung.qmg and
Bootsamsungloop.qmg are the files.

What is the easiest way to change the animation boot screen?
Currently right now when I boot up, I see the HTC Quietly Brilliant image, and then a blink and it shows the same thing, but animated. The animated one I want to change.
You must be rooted to perform this otherwise it won't work.
I think that 'boot animation changer' can handle it.

Yes you can
Theirs also an option to import any other anime you download from within the app
Yes, I know all that.
I am asking what the quickest and easiest way to do it is.
And how well does that App work with the Desire?

unless your using a rom that has symlinked the bootanimation.zip to data/local as aposed to /system/customise/resorce/ there is no app that can change the bootanimation.zip, you will have to do it manually using adb
Didn't he just say boot animation changer can do it?

unpack the .zip and look inside, see if bootanimaton.zip is in data/local or system/customise/resorce
i tried deleting the boot up file...
And for the boot up sound how do I change that?
sgs tools doesnt work...
First off are you rooted? Second are you running a custom rom? If these apply then it should be as easy as replacing the bootanimation.zip file of your choice in the "system/media" folder.

Sorry can't (don't know how to) post links using the xda app. Just look under the "themes and app" section and you'll see a few posts on boot animation. There's different types but the method is the same. Again it depends if your running a custom rom

Someone posted not to long ago that ee03 natively supported bootanimation.zips
if not then find nubecoders thread about tricking the stock system to run boot zips
So I found this fantastic boot animation, and decided I wanted to change. I searched around, and found a method where you replaced 'bootanimation' in system/bin and changed permissions to 777. It did not work. Then I tried the old, Samsung firmware method and it worked!
Here are the steps (using Root Explorer):
1. Find a suitable bootanimation.zip
2. Place it in data/local
3. Reboot!
You can of course place it there using any other method. No need to modify any permissions. It should work.
Thanks dude

Ah.. So it is basically like a 'clean slate'. You mod it the way you want. Plus if you're okay with having the stock thingy, as rebooting phones is a very rare activity in daily, normal usage, it saves at least an MB of space.

EDIT: Checked the app. Nice alternative, if you want to avoid the hassles of manually changing bootanimation.zip.

Anyone have a way to add ICS startup and shutdown animations to stock rooted de-ciq'ed 2.3.6?

I would be most interested in this. I'm unable to find any ICS boot animations in this section. Anyone know if it can be extracted straight from the GN and simply be placed in the boot animation directory without consequences?

You need a kernel/rom that supports bootanimation.zip
The stock/touchwiz based roms use a .qmg file for the animation instead.
Also the images in the bootanimation.zip would need to be modified for our resolution 400*800 as opposed to the 1280*720 of the Nexus.
The bootanimation.zip is already available for 400*800 devices & I can confirm it works beautifully on CM7

Thanks for the response
I'm running Darkside's kernel which supports custom boot animations so thats not a problem.
I assume thats what a CWM flash able zip flashes correct?
Sounds reasonable
Pardon me, but I was unable to find the thread containing the ICS boot animation, could you point me in the right direction?

Do not assume, no it is not a flashable .zip, you will need to manually insert to system/etc/media/
I usually rename the existing one to bootanimation.zip.bak just in case.....
Let me see if I can post it for ya !

I have a question about changing my boot animation and the sound as well. I'm very annoyed by Virgin Mobiles boot animation. I am rooted and I have S-OFF, I've tried going through ES file explorer and physically changing it but it does not work. It's stock ROM 2.3.4

If you want to mod your ROM try it on UOT Kitchen. You may need to upload the required files and get the zip file, have it flashed....
You can almost change many things on the ROM.
Hope this may be useful. If really press "Thanks"
