Okay... i've tried a bunch of stuff now and i'm stuck. I was doing the 2.3.2 to root to 2.3.3/4 flash upgrade process. my battery was charged to 100%, but now (as typically happens with this process) it says 0% and closes the phone.
I've tried pulling the battery as described in the walkthrough, but it doesn't solve it.
I can't charge it because the battery is at 100%. does anyone know how to manually discharge the battery, or have any other suggestions?
I have the same problem
further information - the battery calibration app changes nothing. i (while plugged in) rooted and downloaded the battery calibration app (this one https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&feature=search_result), turned off the wait til 100% and hit calibrate. nothing changed.
Any tips on manually wiping the battery stats? my phone has been plugged in for 2 hours and still says 0%.
---------- Post added at 05:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ----------
Further, after the above thing where i did the battery calibration, then left the battery out of the phone for 15 minutes, put it back in, still says 0% and shuts off (not plugged in).
I need some suggestions here.
and further further, i went in with root explorer and deleted the batterystats.bin file manually from data/system. this hasn't worked either.
I'm about to try to drain the battery by letting it sit for a couple days, but as there's no load i'm not sure how successful this will be. again, any suggestions would be great.
i have the same issue when flashing 2.3.4 then back to 2.3.2,after gingerbreak reboot the battery is 0%
flash back to 2.3.2, root it with gingerbreak. instal root explorer or something likewise, go to Data-> System -> Batterybins.bin and delte batterybins.bin. after reboot it should be fixed again
flashed 2.3.2. installed explorer. went to my sd card, installed gingerbreak. rooted. reboot. installed root explorer. deleted batterystats.bin. shut down phone. pulled battery for 5 minutes. replaced battery.
boots to 0% and dies.
---------- Post added at 11:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 PM ----------
of note, it *always* boots, so it definitely a software file issue. i'm trying to charge it with my sim pulled. whenever it boots without being plugged in, or when i pull the plug, it always announces that there's no sim card first, so i'm trying anything.
can someone point me to a rogers branded firmware in case i have to return this?
---------- Post added at 11:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:03 PM ----------
okay, flashed 2.3.4 and still no luck. battery just sits there at zero.
this f*cking sucks.

Just tried. It tells me there is no software for my phone.
Next up, install one of these two: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042963&highlight=lt15a and see. i'm basically going to stop f*cking with it as soon as i get my battery back. screw root and updates, i've been without a phone for less than 24 hours but this is stressing me the hell out.
yeah tried the repair tried a few diffrent firmwares the orignal rogers firmware still 0% deleted battery.bin file still 0% not super happy thats for sure

i'm trying the last thing we have left - attempting to drain the battery over time to see if that sorts it. otherwise i've got a POS that i have to return to Rogers.
mine shuts down as soon as i unplug it so i dont know what the issue is im with rogers too so maybe its something to do with their phone. or what they have done to it. annoying though. hoping it will fix itself cause ive tried everythign else i can think of. dosent even feel like the battery is getting warm when plugged in. the repair option on the pc software didnt seem to do much either.
can we just confirm symptoms? here's mine:
1) turn it on
2) get SE screen
3) get swirly animation
4) boots to 0%
5) says mounting sd card - network is rogers
6) then it says no sd card, no sim card, no service
7) and craps out seconds later.
at this point, like i said, i'm gonna turn it on every time i think to until it won't boot anymore, then try charging it again. if that doesn't work i'm going to flash back to stock (hopefully rogers) and tell them "it broke"
its still bootloader and simlocked, so they should swap it before they notice i tinkered with it (cross your fingers).
yep thats exactly what happens to me even when i flash back to the stock rogers firmware i still get 0% and it dies as soon as it starts. mine is boot and sim locked too
my girlfriend has the same phone so i tried her battery that was charged still the same thing 0% and it shuts down.
dude, i tried the same thing
flashed 2.3.4... dont like it and want to go back
battery 0%...
Sony f* us good..
Man, I'm so choked..
Can anyone help me?
battery problem is also happening for me... (
but that was not on first boot when i flash the rom
it was after i gain root access...
now i dont know what to do...
There must be a way to fix this.
It's definitely a software problem.
I believe sony did this on purpose so root cannot be accessed.

Flashing a kernel,Running on custom Rom or unlocking your bootloader does cause this problem.Just unlocked my bootloader and flashed a rom.Yeah it went all blank, the screen,so I decided to relock it and repair the firmware using SEMC.From then on it functioned normally.

Have you tried repairing the firmware using SEMC yet?It should reinstall the firmware since the firmware's the one usually causing these problems. It would be best if you backup your apps first.

I had the same problem on my milestone about an year ago and it was because of humidity, at least thats what the guys at a local repair shop told me. They said it's not software related. Anyways the phone was ruined.

Sorry it was actually Sony Ericsson "Pc" Companion, which you have to use your pc to reinstall the firmware again if it helps.Make sure this SE Pc Companion is installed on your computer. Here's the link to download it. http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilephones/downloads/subject/pccompanion/xperia-play?cc=ca&lc=en
If your bootloader's still locked you may want to go ahead and first, press start under support zone, then click start under phone software update(Don't connect your phone yet).It will come up with the "Could not find phone" prompt so go ahead and press repair phone which is underlined blue under the prompt. After that just do what it says on your Xperia Play.
If your hardware's the problem then I can't help you much.
didnt work, maybe its hardware problem, i think that bringing my phone on repair shop is the best solution
Hello this is my first post by the way and i really need help please i just rooted my lg nitro hd and was flashing the CWM on it and when i turned it off to check if it worked it will not turn back on at all not to cwm or regular boot please someone help me i just got this phone 2 days ago.

What do you see when you turn the phone on?
does the charging screen come up when it is plugged in?
it doesnt power on at all and the charging screen doesnt come up either
mine too,it doesnt power on at all and the charging screen doesnt come up either,
anyone help!
I don't know a way to fix this problem but I have seen unbricking threads for this phone that may help. I'm not sure though because I haven't tried them. I did however also brick my nitro two days after I got and I brought it back to at&t and acted like I had no clue what was going on. Mine was stuck in a boot loop and possibly fixable but I needed it for work and didn't have time as I was on my way to work.

Hey try pulling the battery then reinserting it with USB plugged in to see if you can breathe any life into it if you can get anything to show on the screen that would be the first step then after that there may be a chance of rescue also try to let it charge for a while and come back to it, I brought a phone back because nothing would show up on the screen but when I brought it back to the store the Guy got it to bootloop if you can at least get it to do that you can work on unbricking it further

Hold down volume down plus power until it goes to the factory reset screen. Press power to "reset" which really takes you to CWM (if you're rooted and have CWM installed). Then from CWM, do a factory reset/wipe data, then flash the zip/gapps (for CM 9), or another ROM if you prefer.

Agree with kernelpanic. Sounds like a hardware failure. AT&T also has device support centers in certain locations that can swap out your phone in some cases.

Hi! thanks for answering!
Yes, I have CWM installed, when I try to enter with volume down and power, it ask me to click power twice to confirm (as usual), but then when CWM is going to boot, the phone resets, and loops again at the LG logo.
I already tried the unbrick method used here in the forum, but I have a problem with the R&D Test Tool, because when I try to click at "Upgrade Start" in CSE web upgrade test, the program opens LGMobile Support Tool, instead of the screen of "country and language", and finally, when I try to update via LGMobile Support Tool, it doesn't found my device (already put in Download Mode in USB), I don't know what to do, please, any information will be greatly apreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Ok, so I was fed up of waiting for T-Mobile to deliver the 1.28 update. Decided to unlock the bootloader and flash a new rom that is based off of 1.28.
SO:
1) I unlocked bootloader
2)flashed CM 5.8.31
3)nandroid backup
4)this is where it went wrong. tried to use insertCoin it said you need to manually flash boot. img so i fastboot flash boot boot.img
5)then i booted into recovery and tried to install the rom, it failed ( i dont think it finished copying oops) do i try to restore from nandroid.
6) just gets stuck on htc quietly brilliant.
Help Please ( ANy Advice would be brilliant..)
im worried my phone is gonna run out of battery aswell
First, you can charge your device in the HTC brilliant screen.
Second, unlock your phone and put 1.26 recovry and then run the original RUU..

Thanks i just noticed it was charging at the brilliant screen.
Also how?
i have just downloaded to original TMO_UK RUU and was just going to flash the boot.img

Hi -
Im in the exact same situation as you right now.
I am attempting to follow this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599748
It has the directions.
After you download the RUU you need to click on it and wait a minute till its running.
After this (and this is where I am stuck) you need to go to start menu and search
%temp% and some folders should show up. Somewhere in this folder is supposed to be a file called Rom.zip
I cant seem to find a rom.zip though. If you do please let me know where???
Thanks and I hope this helps. Scary 650 dollar phone and I cant get it to boot back up. I only blame myself... But apparently this can be fixed.
---------- Post added at 04:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:35 PM ----------
OP -
I dont want it to seem like Im hijacking your thread but I figured I would post in here since we both have the same problems. Hoping we can work through this together.
2 major issues as of now -
1) I could not find the rom.zip file.
2) My phone is now dead and I cant get it back to the HTC brilliant screen. It always boots into fastboot mode.
How can I get my phone to boot into HTC screen to charge it? Has anyone had this issue.
Any help would be soo apreciated...
Hope you have luck, my biggest issue is that i dont run windows, im going to have to stick the ruu on a usb stick when it finally finishes downloading. and take it to my girlfriends laptop to fix long
Also i wouldnt worry about it booting straight to fastboot.. that happened to me when i relocked to bootloader with:
fastboot oem lock
just fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin (or whatever the file is)
and it should just hang at htc again..
Thanks -
and yes I did relock.
I just unlocked again but it still boots into fastboot. Although I now have clockwork recovery.
I ran the nandroid backup again that I had made. This time when I powered down the phone actually stays off.
If the phone is completely off with the red light on does this mean that its charging again? or does it have to be on the HTC screen? Im scared to touch it again as Im hoping its charging.
Also - does anyone know if the software prompt that pops up when you run the RUU file do the same thing as running the command lines? I ran it earlier to confirm that my battery was indeed under 30 percent.
I just cant find the rom.zip file for some bizzare reason.
.... i left mine in fastboot accidently whilst i was waiting for RUU now it is not turning on at all.. what do i do
EDIT: situation has changed plugged it into power rather than pc and it is back on
also jfrock.. how long did the rru take you to download! im anxious to get this working again
OK jfrock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616741
download that..
flash the correct boot.img file 126 /128
fastboot flash boot <filename>
this should fix your nandroid backup as the restore doesnt actually restore the boot.img i dont think
i am now having trouble flashing my insertcoin rom it is saying it cannot open it and (bad)
Thanks Buddy! Downloading now.
I took a break to clean my apartment to get my mind off things.
Im back now will let you know how things go.

The Rom took a long time. It said it was going to be hours so I let it run last night and went to bed. Im not sure how long it was though as I was sleeping.
---------- Post added at 08:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:56 PM ----------
so it said that I didnt have enough charge to run it. I ran the restore stock recovery to get it to charge whille off. Now I can turn the phone off even on USB and it stays off with red light on so I think its charging again. I could be wrong. I guess that I will just have to wait a few hours and find out.
Editing this to say battery is now charging. I tried to let it charge before while in Clockwork Recovery. Fell asleep watching tv. When I woke upit was dead again. Ran battery check with the link you provided it was at 2 percent.
I turned it off again and plugged it into the wall. Let it charge for 30min and then ran battery check. Its now at 19percent!!!! I have never been so excited to see a battery charge.
One step at a time I guess. Its going to be a few hours or more to get this back up enough to do anything with it.
I will report back later.
dam! its dead again. Walked over light was off checked battery and its back to 0. Starting to think Im never going to get my phone working again.
Back up to 13 percent. I think whats happening is every once in a while the Red Light goes off for some reason while charging and then drains the battery.
Im checking on it every 15min or so by booting into fastboot. Run battery check in CWM then reboot into fastboot. Shutdown and plug back in wall.
Why on earth it wants to discharge the battery after charging for a little while is beyond me.
It worked!!!!!
It was saying battery to low to flash the 1.28 boot.img.
So I ran the 1.26 and that worked. Then I powered off and entered fastboot again then ran the 1.28.
Success!!! Phone is now fully booted and charging.
Now, do I dare try to continue to flash a new Rom in the morning when Im at 100percent.
Thanks you so much to pointing me in the right direction Its beyoned appreciated.

Hi
I have the same problem as you have , but i cannot unlock it back agin it has not enough battery to do so ,
So now it turn to bootloader "relocked" and cannot flash anything because battery is not enough ,
Is there any way to charge it ??? PLZ HELP
wont tuch HTC ever again
Try every thing , this phone belongs to the garbage
Just threw 700$ to the trash
If your battery is too flat to flash a new recovery via fastboot, and you're stuck with the old reovery what doesn't charge when the power is off or in bootloader/recovery, you're in a bit of a pickle.
The battery should still charge for the few seconds between when you power on and when it enters the bootloader, so you will just need to keep rebooting it over and over while plugged in until your battery is back up to over 30%.
A few people ahve reported this method to work. Personally, I haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot.
I have put a rubber band on the power button and pluged it to the charger for
3 hours , it turn on and off constantly but of course it stiil empty , do not think it will work
even if i will live it like this for 48 houers , but i will try , dose someone try this ?
you need to do it quickly and manually. Holding down the button doesn't tuen it off for 10 seconds each time and that uses more power than what it's getting in the few seconds of charge each cycle.
If it wasn't working, it would be completely flat by now.
---------- Post added at 05:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ----------
I wonder has anyone tried charging via the dock pins in this state?
I understand you , it have stay on bootloader for 3 second until it turn off and on the briliant screen for 3 second also , now i have put another rubber band on the + volume ,so it stay on the briliant screen for 3 second and turn off after 0.5 second on the boot screen , I hope ...

OK I've had my share of problems and fixes but this is by far the toughest ever. My Galaxy Tab S, out of no where is blinking. Not flickering, Blinking. When I load up, the Samsung Screen lights up as if it's going to load, then fades and begins strobing off and on. Once it did this for hours. However, while it's strobing, you know that the screen is running in the background. You can hear apps going and everything.
I had stock firmware and no root when this began happening.
Furthermore, when charging, the battery displays just fine for about 6 seconds, then fades and begins strobing. I thought it might be an issue with the screen until I successfully placed it into download mode. In download mode, there is no strobing. The device stays on, accurate, and beautiful. When I go into recovery mode, I can see all the options, but it's still strobing off and on. I am in the process of getting ready to flash stock firmware via odin, but I've wiped the cache, factory reset, rooted and everything else.
The tablet is working but I'm stuck with it strobing in the foreground and no option to see what's really happening. I tried countless searches online and have found nothing that corrects my problem. XDA Gurus, you're my only hope. What should I do now? :crying:
Send it back to samsung for repair under warranty it may be a prossor thing.....
The kernel is responsible for off mode charging, so that's why it happens there as well.
Your first port if call is to flash stock firmware and see if it persists.
You may also need to wipe DATA. Back it up with twrp first.
Also does this happen with brightness set to max?

Unfortunately I don't believe I'm covered under warranty. I've had for over 2 years and my knox security shows 1 time that I rooted it in the past. But since then I had unrooted and run stock from samsung.

OK, I'll let you know what happens once firmware is flashed. I did wipe Data with TWRP and factory reset already. And Yes, as the screen starts to flash, it is VERY VERY Bright. It's the black background and the all-white Samsung Logo that is strobing.
Thanks so much for working with me!
If your still having problems after stock reflash open the tablet up via tutorials on YouTube unplug the battery for 5 mi s then plug it back in. Could be as simple as the battery isn't connected right my gf done this and her tablet is better now
