Seems like this has the same issue as the old epic where bluetooth output is overridden by the headphone out. Does anyone know of a work around? I usually use the audio out for my car stereo and unplugging it every time I get a call seems very annoying/unsafe.

I have this exact same problem. Very frustrating after coming from the Evo which would handle this issue quite well. Any tips, workaround, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you =D.
Edit: Just did some more google searching, and it seems that someone wrote a hotfix for Epic in the form of an app to force call audio to bluetooth when bluetooth is connected. The app is called "EpicBT" and here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842571. I'm wondering if we can figure out some sort of similar hotfix for the ET.

Hello all. I am enjoying android on my Tilt 2. Thanks to all who have contributed.
I am fairly new to Android and have been having some issues. Although there are references to one of my issues elsewhere none of the posted suggestions have worked for me. I have installed and uninstalled over a dozen different Youtube .apk files and each one results in a force close upon opening the app. Has anyone had this issue on a Tilt2 and how did you fix it?
Secondly, I have seen reference to bluetooth working in some of the newer builds. Is it working on a Tilt2 in any build? When I try to turn on bluetooth it trys for several seconds but never actually turns on. If anyone has it working on a Tilt2 could you please explain how you got it working? Can I use a stereo bluetooth headset with it, if not is there anyway to use usb headphones?
I apologize if this is addressed elsewhere. I am sure there will be some people asking if i even searched. As i mentioned, I have seen references, but none seemed to be clear on what device they were using. (Rhod, Tilt2, TP2, etc..) Any help is greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work. Hopefully soon this will be an option for all-around everyday use on these devices.
Well BT doesn't really work... it'll pair, but it won't pass audio. At least that was my experience on my RAPH - haven't tested on my RHOD.
Youtube, never really tried that either... may need hw3d to work right. I heard that the 'low-quality' version of youtube works tho.
3.5mm headphone jack works - kinda. But currently to get it to work it breaks all other sound. I'm not sure if it works on the extUSB thing, but I'd imagine it would - you just set the snd.force to 1 (I set it to 2 for the 3.5mm jack) and boot Android while a call to voicemail is running - with some headphones plugged in. This does cause adverse effects - no sound other than the headphones, and I noticed funky noises coming out of the speaker when playing music thru the headphones...

I posted a working YouTube apk here (low quality mode only): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7954193&highlight=youtube#post7954193
BT doesn't currently work on the Rhodium. I assume it's because of the different BT stack that's used by our device. Besides that, while BT turns on for the Topaz & Raphael, audio doesn't pass properly, as was already mentioned. 3.5mm Headset doesn't work on the Tilt 2 through the ExtUSB (in fact, no audio passes through the adapter at all).

Don't know if you've figured this out yet or not, but I had the same youtube issue on my rooted LG ally. I've worked on it for over an hour now, and finally got a solution.
Download Titanium Backup from android market. Go to "Backup/Restore" in Titanium, scroll down to the YouTube entry, tap it, tell Titanium to Wipe Data.
Edit: Okay, I lied. Reboot and back to force closes.

I doubt it's that important you have to bump the thread every hour or so.
Unpair both devices completely and repair them again. It might not be pairing both modes.
You can also see if HFP is enabled in the /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf file via the Root Explorer app.
I use music and handsfree just fine with my SGS2 and my cheap Panasonic head unit. If the 2 options aren't there under the bluetooth device, then it's a pairing issue.
I have paired my device several times in various cars and never had to do any special configuration. I've always worked fine for the first try.

Does your phone pair properly with other car based bluetooth?
If not, it may be the kernel.
I had successful pairing with my original dlev rom in both of my cars and intermittent problems answering or my the other side could not hear my voice. Solution was to switch the kernel.
Hope this helps.
to what kernel you switched?! that exacly my issue! please answer
If you're having that much problem with it, pick up wired headphones with mic (or use the ones that came with the phone). I switched from bluetooth to these and will never look back.
but i need to use bluetooth due to the car's speakers....
thats the whole thing...
Bluetooth is car is always a matter of luck to me.
Feling lucky because I can manage it with my SG2 better than with my previous phone, the original I7000 galay
well that info isnt really helpful
anyone else might help please?
anyone????????
Are you 100% sure the car player has compatible a2dp music streaming?
If so then both headset and media options should be available in the Bluetooth pairing options.

Did you ever solve this issue? I am having the same problems with the same deck and phone.
Cheers.
It is not the phone, it's your dash unit. You'd be better off contacting Pioneer or whoever makes your aftermarket unit.
My SGS2 has sync'd and made calls perfectly via BT since day 1 with my Nissan GT-R... everything is stock Nissan though.
I have an Acura, and every bluetooth phone I have had in the past I could pair with the car, and plug in an Aux line to the headphone jack to listen to music, then if a call came in, it would come through my spearkers.
Now with the EP4g, it comes through the speakers, but no one can hear me, and I can't hear them until I unplug the aux line.
Anyone else have a problem?
i had a conference call on my phone in the car via my AUX input today. The parties were heard through the speakers of the car and they were able to hear me, but complained about a really bad echo and that I was VERY hard to hear. These in car conference calls were fine on my EVO with the same setup. I have not tried the in car bluetooth yet as I didn't think I would need it. Will be trying that next.
Just did a test with my Nissan and had to pull out the AUX cable before I could hear the other end on my speakers. The other end said they could hear me the entire time.
Something is going on with the aux cable. I really like the phone, but I don't like trying to figure **** out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291889
I was under the impression that the mic becomes disabled when the AUX cable is in. Had similar behavior on my old Palm Centro. It went into "headset" mode and the mic turned off. In my thread, someone said that it is working fine. Perhaps there is something else causing it?
Do you use or does the Samsung voice dial app automatically launch when you put your aux cable in? Mine does. The mic does not work for it either. Maybe its the culprit?
***** My issue was fixed by changing the TTY settings *****
Settings>Call Settings>TTY mode>TTY VCO
Its just an aux cable, no mic to it. I plug it in and dont see anything in the status bar and no apps launch.
Right, but when the AUX cable is put in, the Microphone on the epic is disabled, at least that's my working theory. IDK, maybe its just something with mine, but at the moment, no-one can hear me when the aux cable is installed, and i cannot use the voice search applications

I will give that a try, any idea what that mode does? Manual doesn't really help.

VCO stands for Voice carry over. I could be wrong on the exact purpose, but i understand that it is designed to allow those with hearing impediments but capable of speaking to use their own voice while their speaker is hooked up to another device to assist in hearing.
Basically, it keeps the microphone on the device "ON" while the audio is outputted to another device. In our case, the car speakers.
Otherwise, when the device is outputting audio, it is looking for another source of voice input. If you car had a hands-free option built in, it would work just fine without changing the setting as the voice input would be coming from the hands free option.
Just a guess really. Glad its working for me, hope it works for you!
Yes it wierd, My car does have bluetooth built in, but when the aux cable is plugged in it doesn't send sound to the handsfree. Not sure what the issue is.

Can anyone also confirm that this works?
I have an iphone 4s right now, but I really want to go back to android and get a GSII, but that bluetooth problem was a big hassle when I had the Epic 4G. However, with the Epic 4G, someone wrote an app that would allow you to reroute sound through bluetooth with the aux was plugged in. I'm hoping there's a fix out there...
I am synced to a Plantronics stereo bluetooth headset, get into my car and plug my aux cable into my phone to swap my audio over to my car. My old Atrix would automagically swap over the headphone audio out, yet leave my voice synched for taking calls. So far I have not found a way to do that on the xperia play, so I am hoping you guys might have some pointers. The audio continues to play through the headset, and not aux cable. I know I can go into settings and kill the media pairing, but honestly, that is a pain due to synching issues.
I looked at Tasker, and there is a way to kill voice, but not the media portion of bluetooth. Has anyone ran into this issue, or know if an app/workaround?
Thanks!

hmm have you tried Google it? I bet that there is a mod, setting or app for it somewhere.

Yeah, I google'd, forum searched, and just generally looked. No go. I was hoping someone on here might have run across this before. I guess I can just hope that Tasker adds a bluetooth media profile sometime soon.

Not going to be closed minded about that suggestion, and give a chance, but using Facebook Authentication? Really? I despise Facebook but I'll suck it up and give this a try. Thanks.
Anyone know how to get the headset jack to NOT.shut. down the bluetooth in phone calls? I play music through the jack when driving. If a call comes in, the call is following the earphone path and bluetooth wont work until it's unplugged.
Thanks.

Bump... anyone?
Anyone know of a rom where this doesn't happen?
I've experienced this same problem. Another irritating "feature" I experienced was when I was on a call on a headset, I went to get in my car and was expecting it to connect and switch to handsfree. I even unplugged my headset FIRST before starting the car. The car and phone wouldn't connect while the call was still going on. I had to wait until I ended my call before it would connect.
My old HTC EVO 4G would handle bluetooth switching like this so easily. Extremely frustrating that Samsung can't get it right.
From what I was able to gather via Google searches, this is a known issue and there doesn't seem to be any kind of fix. I don't think switching ROM's will help although you might want to look into CM9/10.1?
