[Q] How can I autoswap to headphones plug while connected to a bluetooth headset? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am synced to a Plantronics stereo bluetooth headset, get into my car and plug my aux cable into my phone to swap my audio over to my car. My old Atrix would automagically swap over the headphone audio out, yet leave my voice synched for taking calls. So far I have not found a way to do that on the xperia play, so I am hoping you guys might have some pointers. The audio continues to play through the headset, and not aux cable. I know I can go into settings and kill the media pairing, but honestly, that is a pain due to synching issues.
I looked at Tasker, and there is a way to kill voice, but not the media portion of bluetooth. Has anyone ran into this issue, or know if an app/workaround?
Thanks!

hmm have you tried Google it? I bet that there is a mod, setting or app for it somewhere.

Yeah, I google'd, forum searched, and just generally looked. No go. I was hoping someone on here might have run across this before. I guess I can just hope that Tasker adds a bluetooth media profile sometime soon.

Not going to be closed minded about that suggestion, and give a chance, but using Facebook Authentication? Really? I despise Facebook but I'll suck it up and give this a try. Thanks.

Bluetooth Headphones

I recently purchased a pair of Iogear wireless Bluetooth headphones to use with my Fuze. I went through the process of pairing them, and managed to get them to connect. But when I tried to use them with listening to music or making a call, they would not work.
Anyone else have a problem or a clue as to why they won't work?
The phone supports both A2DP and AVRCP.
Hope this is in the correct section.
I'm unsure on why it won't work. I have some Plantronics Pulsar 590A and they are top notch. I use it with my 8525 (Hermes) and the sound quality is great. Also, Plantronics does a great job on their warranty.
I have noticed that sometimes when I connect my bluetooth headphones, that if I had the media player already launched that it would not play through the bluetooth headphones but though the built in speaker still. Once I shut down the media player and launched again after bluetooth was enabled and headphones connected, it would work.
When you paired the headphones, did you make sure that in the bluetooth settings for your bluetooth headphones (under settings, connections, bluettooth find and tap on your headphones and check there) that wireless stereo and handsfree was checked.
Sometimes also, my device for some reason just chooses not to connect anymore to my headphones and I have to do a soft reset to get it to connect. Does not happen very often - once per month. I use my bluetooth headphones and the Motorola T505 in my car for streaming music wirelessly to my car stereo every day.

You know this happens with me with Core Player. I have to set up the A2DP before I start a movie or song in the program or else it won't work.
Instead of doing a soft reset I just turn bluetooth off and then back on. That usually solves the problem of the mystery disconnect.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I had done before even trying to use them. I checked the settings. But still to no avail. Even tried soft resetting.
It worked instantly with my Tilt though. But I bought them to use with the Fuze lol.

Yes I do this to for this particular problem. The soft reset required problem is something different - Not sure yet what causes it - I think that it is an app that I run every now and then that causes some kind of conflict even after it has been shut down. Still have to figure it out

Oh yeah. My bluetooth headset, Plantronics umm forgot the number works with the Fuze. This is a mystery to me
Have you tried your new bluetooth headphones with different media players such as S2P or Mortplayer, TCPMP, Core Player, WM Player, HTC audio Manager should all support but perhaps what you are using does not. I don't have a Fuze so don't know how the built in audio manager media player works but have seen several posts with people having problems. Try another media player 3rd party such as S2P, Mortplayer, TCPMP (all free) or Core Player (not free)

Okay, I'll do that, but it doesn't even work with using them to make a call.
There's a built-in mic on them, so it should work with that as well. It says it's connected, but the lil headphone icon never shows up when I turn them on.
Are these the ones you have

It says your device must support Headset or Hands-Free Profile. try unchecking wireless stereo and only check one of these profiles and see if it works

If this doesn't work you may wanna RMA yours and get a new pair. If that doesn't work, then you may wanna step up to a more expensive pair.

Yeah, those are the ones I have.
And it does support both of those.
Maybe I'll do what addicus said and send them back.
I was really hoping these would work too! Darn.

After trying them again, when I tried to make a call, I heard it make a sound as if it was turning off, and still did not work properly.
I'll be returning these most likely.

Damn you shortay! Since I wrote in this thread my Plantronics have been tripping when I make a phone call and not syncing up. I figured it out. It's that new Yota dialer I put in the other day. Sometimes I can't use the bluetooth on a phone call unless the A2DP is hooked up. Weird.

Lol, sorry! I wonder if I hard reset my phone will it fix it.
I messed around with a new cab earlier today, and had to restore
my phone, and i think it's be tripping afterwards anyway. Last try before I sent them back...that's after the iogear support people reply to me. Appreciated all the help.
Okay, so the email I got from the support basically told me how to set up the bluetooth headphones. WOW... some help they are. Other than giving me a number to call if I needed "further assistance". I thought that's what I was asking for in the first place.
Anywho, after randomly deciding to hard reset my phone, I tried the headphones again, and wah lah...they work!
I guess some setting in my phone wasn't set right. Go figure. Anyway.. Thanks to those who helped.
I'll be keepings these.

Glad they are working now for you.
okay, so I may need you guy's advice. It seems as though they only work once and then i have to delete them from the phone, then discover them again. Could it be a defect in the particular headphones I have, or the model not working with my Fuze? Maybe I should RMA these anyway?
Maybe you should head on into the shop you purchased your Fuze and describe the problem to them. Perhaps they will allow you to connect various different bluetooth headphones (that they have at the shop) to your device to see if it is a problem with your device or with your headphones.

This is a great idea! If you find out the problem is with the headset - RMA them. If not, dig deep in that Fuze forum and see if you guys can figure out a fix.

Playing music over a regular bluetooth headset with the Evo

I searched around, but I didn't find an answer to this specific question. I have an HTC Evo, and a regular Bluetooth headset. I'd like to be able to play music/podcasts/whatnot through the headset.
It works great for phone calls, but once the call is over, it goes back to using the speaker. I'm assuming this has something to do with Bluetooth profiles since I was actually able to play music through Bluetooth in a car I rented a few weeks ago. I had to change the audio setting on the car, so it seems like the Evo can send audio through Bluetooth if it detects a certain profile (A2DP?).
Is there an app that allows me to choose to reroute my audio from the speaker to a regular bluetooth headset that only supports the headset and hands-free profiles? If not, I may need to see how feasible it would be for me to make one.
I have been searching in vane for Android software that would play regular audio through a regular bluetooth ear piece (that is normally used for a phone) rather than the external speaker or audio jack.
If anyone knows of such an animal, please let us know.
I realize what you're asking for, and I'm just going to tell you, odds are it's not going to happen. From what I've heard, the Bluetooth API's are fairly limited, and telling the system to use a BT Profile for something it wasn't meant for (and will sound horrible on, nevermind kill the battery life of your headset) won't be easy.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just not very likely to happen at this time. You'd probably be better off getting a decent pair of BT headphones instead. Sorry.
It won't work. Different protocols. If you get a bluetooth stereo headset that has a mic then it will work with both protocols.
This has been on the top of my list (along with a widget for enabling/disabling background data) since I got my Evo. I used this feature a lot on my Moto Q9C.
But I hadn't been able to find anything until now.
The audio quality isn't great but so far "Super BT Mono Froyo Free" is working well enough. I haven't disconnected my headset yet, so I don't know if it will reboot the phone. But the comments in the marketplace say to use a task killer if it happens.
I'm actually considering getting the full $6 version after the 5 days are up.
I just wish there was a way to make the call button function with the media player instead of starting the voice dialer.
Edit:
Have to change the media volume via settings or when the screen is off to increase music volume.
My jabra bluetooth headset allows this to happen but that bluetooth is meant to stream music through it also.

granted, they ship from Hong Kong so you're looking at a good 1-3 weeks for delivery (i got mine in about a week and a half)
But anyways, they work great for me. they answer calls, control track skipping, play/pause and volume. i love 'em.
App Work Around
I had the same issue with my headset. I went to the Android Market and searched. There are multiple apps out there. I got BTmono Free which allows you to play audio over your bluetooth if you pay for the $1 version you get more options. There are a few more other programs out there that do the same thing.
Good luck.
Thanks for the find Abini. d/l'd BTmono and it works like a champ for playing both music and for Netflix on my rooted EVO 2.2

2 questions/problems regarding car dock

1. The music widget type thing in the dock app just repeats 5 or 6 songs... I've fiddled with all these settings and it does the same thing.
2. When talking to people on the phone I hear the persons voice through my phone speaker, how do I get it to play through my car speakers? I think I might have to turn speaker phone off because that's how it worked with the tape adapter.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.

This probably wont help you but I'll post anyhow. I just plug in my aux jack to the phone, all the audio pumps thru there.

Does the microphone on the phone still work this way? Considering the aux cable doesn't have a mic built into it like other hands-free headsets.
Figured out why I was only hearing like 5 songs.
Apparently you're supposed to have the stock music player set to "party shuffle" and then that widget in the car dock app works great. Plays all songs.
And I'll try talking with somebody with the phone not in speaker phone, I'm pretty sure it will work so that they can hear me, and I can hear them through car speakers.
Oh and I called Moto and the lady talked sooooo slow, and verified everything I said like 4 times, just to say that she could just replace it. Didn't even know how to troubleshoot.
Is it impossible to edit the widgets that come pre-loaded in the car dock app?

Music through Aux with Bluetooth [RESOLVED]

I'd like to keep bluetooth on in my car for taking calls, but the phone seems to automatically output audio through that as well, even if a 3.5mm cable is connected. I searched through the settings to no avail. Is it possible to use BT strictly for calls while still outputting music through aux? I mostly listen through Pandora, and I'm on CM7.
I forgot about this post, but it looks like it didn't get any replies. Bump!

Solution
Yes, it is possible, while connected to your car,
go to settings, Wireless & networks, Bluetooth settings,
search for your car's Bluetooth name and long press it, this should show you a "pop up" window,
click on "Options...", there you have something called Profiles which allow you to control the behavior of that particular Bluetooth device,
You should have 2 boxes ticked, Phone and Media,
tick media off and your device will only work for calls!
Hope it helps!
Best Regards,
P.S: If your phone connects via Bluetooth to your car and streams music, than I must assume your car supports A2DP, in which case, you will gain nothing of audio quality for using the aux input... just saying.

Oh man, thanks so much. I can't believe it took this long to get this straightforward of an answer. I'll have to try it out today.
As far as the audio quality goes, I feel like there's a subjective difference; some sort of flakiness or bits of static when going through BT. But maybe it's just a placebo effect; I'll do some more trials.

Well, it's not impossible.. You could have a low quality Bluetooth receiver but since it is built in with your car it seems unlikely.. either way, what matters is you get your solution and your peace of mind! (I know how I get when something like this happens and I can't figure out a solution! xD)
Don't forget to post back.
Best Regards,
Yep, works flawlessly. I haven't done enough testing to see whether my car sees audio differences between aux and BT, but I'm at least able to use aux separately if I find a difference.

[Q] Possibly A Tasker Question

Hello All,
I'm not sure how to have searched for what I'd like to accomplish for lack of "proper" wording?
But, I have the Jabar Free way with two phones. I'd like when my Galaxy Nexus connects that it would play a tone such as a"notification" sound for a text.
If I buy tasker, would I be able to set up a task that when Bluetooth successfully connects to my device, then prompt sound x to play over speaker to let me know it has connected without having to look at the phone and see?
Or is there a simpler way to get a sound alert to play for what I think would be called: Bluetooth Connection Audio Confirmation ?
Yes you can do this with tasker. You can set up a task to run on connection to a specific bluetooth connection and play any sound you like and also pick which sound stream to play it through (speaker, bluetooth audio, etc.) You can also set it to play a sound on disconnect if you wish.
I use tasker to auto launch car dock mode and pandora when connected to my car bluetooth system. Works pretty well.
