i have changed sd partition to have 1gb ext2, converted to ext3 and converted to ext4.
I have installed Cool3d sense rom with sense 3.0 but i forgot to change hboot.
Now when i turn on the phone appair htc quiety brilliand and reboot itself.
How can i install original froyo back now ? I cannot have access to phone, only bootloader and recovery.
thank you
I'm all for helping people, but you have access to bootloader AND recovery?
Use the search button, or just restore your nandroid and start again, doing it properly
Something tells me, that there are dozens of answered questions like this.
Install the HBOOT you need to use that ROM and flash the ROM again.

if you want to run a froyo ruu, just put your phone in fastboot and run the ruu

Wanted to replace ROM to HD but after 2 days, I'm still having problems.
First used Gparted to convert my SD card: 1GB ext4 + the rest is Fat32.
Did that, but after that, unable to install any rom.
So, I used partition minitool and converted to ext3 (there is no option there for ext4). After that, I was able to install HD roms. But, as many mentioned, for speed, I need ext4. so, tried with unrevoked to flash Amon-ra without success. Tried with terminal, also without success.
Few months ago, I rooted my desire with unrevoked and now it has clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.1. I wanted amon-ra to convert to ext4 but in every way unable to flash it.
Please, I know that there are many threads about but after reading and trying almost every solution, still can't install roms when I make ext4 with Gparted and also unable to flash amon ra recovery.
I have desire with Hboot 0.80 factory unlocked. Used for past few months Leedroid but have time now to switch to another rom and struggling for 2 days now.
Thank for help.
Lior
You have to be much more specific. There are like 100 errors you can get when running unrevoked. Give us the error and we can help you further.
But the part what I don't get is why you want a ext4? Most roms use ext2, ext3 and ext4 and it makes really no noticiable difference in speed. So stick to ext3 and you should be fine.
unrevoked got stucked in rebooting (it writes it and just stuck there after flash).
Yesterday, I got sd card read only after doing ext4 with Gparted on 3 different HD roms. So, I formatted, checked for errors and fixed.
when I make an ext4 partition and trying to install rom, it says something about ext error line 6 on 3 different roms that I tried to install.
I wouldn'z bother so much but read that some HD roms need ext4.
And, no matter how I tried, I can't flash amon ra recovery.
also, does it ok that when I put it in recovery from off, the clockworkmod version is 2.5.0.1 and not 7 or 9 ?
I read a lot good things about amon-ra but really gave up after not doing any progress in 2 days.
for now, I installed RCMixHD rom.
You don't need EXT4 at all, EXT3 is fine
So after struggling with HD roms, I turned back and went back to leedroid 2.2a but with 1gb ext3 partition instead of 512mb ext2.
Now I have left only 25mb for apps without installing anything. How can I increase this storage?
Can you suggest if it worth switch to amon-ra recovery?
Which rom can you suggest for best stability, speed without loose htc sense ?
Do hd roms really much better vs usual like leedroid?
Thank you for the help.

Noob question related to Post # 5 ^
Can custom ROMs be interchanged among HTC phones? Ex: Desire HD Custom flashed onto a Desire?
Hope this helps?
Perhaps you could try with another sd card?
1) Put all the necessary files onto the new card.
2) Wipe everything.
3) Root it again using unrevoked, use clockworkmod.
4) Install rom manager and use it to partition sd card. its automatic.
5) Flash new rom, i'm using Oxygen rom froyo stable. It works very well.
You are still not very specific. What is your OS? What is the version of unrevoked that you use? Tell me the exact steps that you took. Every step of the way.
1. You have to installl HTC sync. Then after you installed it, remove it from your pc.
2. Load the drivers from the unrevoked site.
3. Disconnect your phone and run unrevoked, then select custom image.
4. Connect your phone and let it run.
I downloaded the latest unrevoked from their site. Tried to flash amon ra in windows xp after uninstalling htc sync. It started to flash and after that wrote 'waiting for rebooting '. The desire rebooted but nothing changed and unrevoked just stuck writing that line.
Few months ago as I bought the desire, I rooted it with unrevoked and put leedroid 2.2a. Since then, not changed anything. Recovery is clockworkmod 2.5.0.1
as I see it now, it more smooth after ext 3.
If I don't need ext 4 why few rom authors say that I need it?
S-on if it make any difference.

There are no roms that I know of that will say that your need ext4, only that it is supported.
After you uninstalled htc sync, did you install the unrevoked drivers?
Yes. I installed the drivers from unrevoked site.

And you turned usb debugging on and selecter that it should be remembered?
Yes, of course. For now, I'm unable to do anything because the htc sync corrupted my xp + 7 dual boot hard drive and I'm restoring the pc.

I'm sorry, but that is impossible. HTC Sync, a lightweight Windows application cannot corrupt Windows OS, nor the hard disk. It isnt a virus!
After uninstalling it with revo uninstaller and restarted the pc, it stayed stuck in login to windows. I'm not happy neither to reinstall 2 operation systems + recover all data.
it probably corrupted the registry.
But this is not the point.

Hey guys,
I have a question.
I do have an HTC Desire with Oxygen Gingerbread ROM 2.0 RC7 with Alpharev (S-OFF) + ext4 (@~750mb) + Amon (or how ever it is called, don't remember it exactly) recovery.
Is it possible to flash a different rom ? (is there some constraint about alpharev?) and do i have to setup ext3/4 again then?
You don't need to change anything on the ext partition, just do a full wipe. Did you change hboot or only s-off. If you changed it make sure your next rom will fit on the system partition if you only s-offed you can flash everything.

so... how do i check if i have changed HBOOT? i just ran through the whole alpharev - procedure .
Sorry I am kind of new, just rooted a few days ago.
It sounds like you haven't changed your HBOOT at all, you're just s-off for now. To change the HBOOT table you would have had to download one of the files (eg. Oxygen table, N1 table, data++ table, etc.) then flash that via Fastboot.
ok so it's fine and i can flash every rom i want? (for sure with nandroid backup before doing so)
Yes, you can flash any ROM you like.

Haha, no kidding!
We need more info than that. Did you perform a full wipe before install?
one more question... if i flash a new rom (after full wipe) do i have to reformat the SD again to ext4 and so on?
No.

Hello everybody, i have a question for you all.. My problem: I have a s-off Desire with Alpharev CM7, CWM Recovery 4.0.0.5 and latest radio on it. I have tried to install many, MANY roms, but all, except 2, have the same problem.. After installation from the recovery, i only see the joker face from Alpharev, and nothing more. AceSMod007, RcMixHD, VillainRom and many more.. The only 2 exceptions are MIUI, that comes to its own bootscreen, but looping and no boot, and CyanogenMod, that works great. Why that? I have tried to install Hboot Sense, Hboot stock, but nothing.. Anyone should help me please? Many thanks, regards
have you partioned you sd, if not make an ext partition of 1GB with Gparted
If you are using cm7 hboot try upgrading to cm7r2 hboot from alpharev.nl as the roms mentioned require it.

Yes both with ext3 (by cmw) and ext4.. hboot r2 but others too
Are you doing a full wipe before flashing the rom? This is needed when switching roms.
Only use cm7 hboot if your using cm7 or a rom that was designed to use that hboot. Otherwise stick with stock unless specifically required by the new rom untill you got it working.
If not maybe your recovery is messed up, try a different version.
Back up your sd and use 4EXT recovery to start from strach. Create aligned partitions with this recovery. Mostly, the boot loops happen when hboot is too small for the rom or ext partition(s) is broken or not aligned. Also you can fix your partition with e2fsck.
Try InsertCoin CM7, and do everything what is said above, should be fine then

maybe that is.. I have installed alpharev stock hboot and reflashed original RUU, tomorrow i will try to root my phone again..
PS. with others Alpharev hboot, RUU won't upload, so, if you need to flash a RUU, is important that you install STOCK ALPHABOOT
Hi all. I've spent the whole day searching but can't find a step by step on how to flash cyanogenmod hboot. Am I correct if I follow these steps.
Download (from alpharev) the file PB99IMG_cm7r2to my computer then rename file to PB99IMG.zip. then place this file onto my sdcard. Switch phone off then turn it on while holding on/ff button + volume down. Phone should go to little screen with lots of options plus the little androids at the bottom, phone would ask (without me doing anything) if I want to install update, choose yes, then hboot should've been flashed.
Do I need do to anything else before or after this. What about wipe and restore. I read I need to restore the rom after flashing hboot. Rom is already backup (stock rom 2.2, root,s-off via revolutionary) so, do I do a complete wipe before transfering the PB99IMG.zip to sd card, flash hboot, than restore.
Also, Do I need to partition sd card (never done it before) after flashing cm hboot, (the reason I'm doing this is because I want more space after flashing custom rom but not clear if I need to do both (hboot + partition) or choose one or the other. Thanks a lot in advance...

Take note that a Stock rom will not fit into the CM7r2 Hboot so it means that even if you have a backup of your stock rom, it's useless since you wouldn't be able to use it after flashing the HBoot. What ROM do you intend to flash anyway?
When I started using CM7r2 Hboot, I was already using Cyanogenmod rom so I was able to do a NAND restore after changing HBoot.
Thanks for reply. I intend to try oxygen first then maybe cm7. So I guess I must flash one of the roms first then attempt to flash hboot right. What about the partition sd card part. Do I need to do both (hboot+partition) or just pick one, cheers...
Just save the NAND backup of your Stock ROM on your PC or your SD card if you have a large capacity one. You'll never know when you are gonna need it.
I would suggest that you partition your SD card with EXT just in case you would apply data2ext in the future and if you have a large capacity sdcard..
Go and flash Oxygen rom first on your phone using stock hboot then do a NAND backup. Then go change your hboot to Oxygen r2 or CM7r2. Once the HBoot has been replaced. Flash the Oxygen rom NAND you just saved.
I prefer downloading the .img file, booting into fastboot and running
fastboot flash hboot xxxx.img

If you are trying that check if PB99IMG.zip is in the sdcard root folder and you must have S-OFF done already!
Yeah...s-off and in root.

I recently rooted my desire with unrevoked. I have cwm 5.0.2.0 recovery, but I can't seem to make custom roms work. I first tried to flash the 3.5 htc sense Cool Sense rom, but it got stuck after the boot image. Then I tried Leeroid and Cyanogenmod, but they both entered bootloops. Before I started the flashing, I updated my radio from 5.11.05.27 to 5.17.05.23, but I didn't update the ril. Could it have anything to do with that?
Or could it be the hboot? I don't know much about it, but its version 93.0001, and because I s-offed my phone with revolutionary, it says "AlfaRev Revolutionary" on top. Do I have to flash a custom hboot?
Or do all these roms need sd card partitioning? I did a 2gb partition with cwm recovery, but I don't think it worked.
By the way:
Htc desire GSM
Hboot 93.0001
Cwm 5.0.2.0 recovery
Stock 2.2 android rom
Baseband 5.17.05.23

Hi,
I have similar problem. I rooted it with Unrevoked and s-offed it using the alpharev utility. Only roms I was able to flash were the Oxygen 2.3.2 and CyandroigenMod 7. When I tried other roms it just stuck on the alpharev splash screen, I left it like that for couple hours like that but nothing was happening...and I had the proper hboot image flashed that was required for the roms.
Do you have any advice what should I do?
Thanks.
I am not an expert, but somewhere I read that the recovery cwm 5.xx has some problem. Try the 4Ext recovery that is based on cwm and for me works efficiently.
Another question, you speak about Oxigen and Cyano, both use modified table partition. Have you changed the partition table and downloaded the right rom version for that table?
Just so you know, Oxygen and Cyanogenmod roms will work even on stock hboot and doesn't require EXT partition for it to install and run on your phone.. You'll have issues with the memory for your apps though and that's what the custom partition table and EXT partition and a2sd, data2sd etc. scripts are for.
On the other hand, some ROMs (Sense based roms most of the time) REQUIRE that you have an EXT partition on your SD for it to install and work properly. Check the rom thread and read the requirements!
As for creating ext partitions on your sdcard, I recommend using 4EXT Recovery or alternatively Gparted on your desktop computer.
This would only be true if Clockworkmod was updated to V.5.x. If I'm not mistaken, alpharev's s-off method puts in his own modified version of clockworkmod. I'm not sure if his version is based on V.5.x ...

As stankyou said you are facing all these problems because your sdcard has no EXT4 partition.
Partition your sdcard to xyz FAT32 + 1gb EXT4
did you do a full wipe/factory reset from the recovery before flashing the custom roms ??
Thanks guys for your help. The problem was that I didn't have the sd-ext partition, so I created it and now it works
