[Q] hardlocked Xperia Arc - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so I've bought an unlock code for my Xperia Arc, seems the previous owner attempted too many unlock codes and hardlocked it. is there any method to reset the simlock counter?
Any efforts are appreciated guys. thanks!
edit: i should add the bootloader is locked.

only to unlock using a cable. Or u can open bootloader and it also unlocks the phone at same time. costs 15 euros.

ok, can you provide a link to unlock the bootloader? i've looked but could not find a tutorial on that.....for this particular phone that is.i do have a working code, if the unlock attempts werent so many. as the simlock counter is at 0 meaning they've all been used.

actually i have, but where it leads to that it stops and talks about not doing it and why, with no link to actually unlocking it. i shall look more closely I suppose.

And then goes on to suggest where you look, but even then if you've not found it, you've not searched properly.

there is no solution for unlocking bootloader for locked devices for free.
The only 2 ways until now are provided by setool and cruiser (Omnius)
They are 2 different teams who bring a paid services.
Blagus kindly offer a cheaper price for XDA users than the official Omnius retail price because he is part if the Omnius team.
I also offer an alternative with setool for a few dlls more but with personalized support by remote control.
the service its not free, even for us, but we try to offer as cheaper as we can. every user who use any of 2 services are very happy with it.

[OFFICAL] Work out how to enable fastboot for locked devices / Problem solved

Blagus did not respond but Alejandrissimo did and we got it worked out nicely. 3 months that phone sat around, lol unlocked bootloader, rooted and hella oc'd on the latest rls with doomlords kernel. thanks for your recommend pushtostop.
Thanks again alejandrissimo! o/ explains very well and has plenty patience for someone that gets his fingers too far too fast (me)

why cant people just post the answer instead of saying search all time. Use a program called omnius.

Why can't people search instead of clogging the forum with numerous threads on the same subject, and people who say they've searched for something but couldn't find the answer when the sticky on the same page they've posted on has the answer is really annoying.

sorry to have displeased you so...i didn't think i was very rude. when the answer is stuck in the middle of a 2 page post with 18 paragraphs consisting of a tiny 5 word sentence.....these arent exactly the easiest forums to search either...hate to say it but im a solution provider and over the years ive been a dam good one. we haven't all poured over every word and sentence ever posted on these forums XperienceD. i asked and i received. we dont all have hours upon hours to search for what ultimately is one or two solutions that WILL cost. i wasnt sure if it would...thought i could do it without, but due to the helpful responses I got, i found indeed it did cost, but i learned too. try not to be such a hater man. noone pissed all over ya ! <3

You don't need to have done, but when some one makes a thread and states in it they "couldn't find anything" when there is a thread called, stickied even - [Guide] All in one 'Namaste guide' to Bootloader unlocking, Rooting, Flashing & more. then it's clear they're just being lazy.

lazy...ya it was stickied. just not very clear, in the title hell ya it was very clear, but consice clear direction...was far from clear. no offence, its easy for a poster to get headed in another direction, but my exact situation (locked bootloader, hardlocked network - the idiot that had the phone before me tried all kinds of random codes like he was gonna win a lottery) was NOT clearly instructed or directed in that thread. i joined this site when i got that phone. i didnt ask till yesterday. nuff said. im not lazy asshole. stop being a general prick eh.

[Q] ...How Do I root it?

Maybe I'm blind, but I'm searching all over the dev forum for the incredible 2, there are no official links that explain how to root the phone. Please help, thank you.
I would think that if have been searching you would have read that there is no way to do a software root. You probably would have also read that you can buy an XTC clip to achieve S=Off.
Is this just temporary or will there be a way to software s-off? I'm sorry I have been searching and reading I just don't understand I'm a noob the original incredible was easy to do cause I used unrevoked
Again, if you had been reading, you might have come across a thread that discusses the software method of S=Off.
link me please?
to answer your question... no there is no software unlock yet. It is coming, it has been verified to work and has been done to a few testers.
there is no ETA.
if you need it now, buy an xtc clip and you can unlock it immediately.
lastly, this should be in general, not development.
thanks brah

There is life beyond the message board, you might want to have a look.
I understand that this is a matter of semantics, but the I2 was rooted long ago...with software. What we're lacking is an unlock to allow root to be permanent (persistent through reboots). You can root now and gain many of the benefits (and problems) of root if you really want to without paying a dime.
Now if you want to use custom firmwares, that requires unlocking. This can be done with a piece of hardware that is available now, or a piece of software that everyone is still waiting on.
Anyone selling an XTC
Im willing to buy anyones used XTC clip for half price....anyone...anyone...

I have done some searching and have found two possible routes. One is AlpharevX (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132920&page=40) and the other is with the Rebel XTC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156534&page=5).
The sites are http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/, and http://www.xtcclip.com/.
AlphaRev is still beta though they claim no bricks reported so far. Since it is Beta you are supposed to interactively get a Beta key from their site to activate the software. This key is generated only if it 'likes' the serial number. The latter by the looks of it is a hardware tool which loads on your sd-card. If you go the alpha route then you must manually download and install the viow version of CWM! Still waiting for Unrevoked!

[SOLVED][HELP] Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-i747(M) ? SIM Unlock?

Hello, a friend of mine bought a S3 from america but now lives in germany, the phone only had english, canadian and french as system languages, so i rooted it for him and installed a custom rom, carbon rom 4.2.2 and have set it on german, but whenever i insert a sim card it asks for a network code and he cant call or have 3g because he doesnt have network.
what should i try to do, change the apn settings?
i also tried editing the nv_data.bin, but since its a custom rom there is none in the root efs folder of the device, i really need help making this device working, any advice or suggestions?

Hey, While you're busy being a demeaning know-it-all you should know that procedure DOESN'T work for all the Stock AT&T phones.

There's no crying, I just tire of some of the brainiacs here acting superior instead of actually helping. I did see that, however I'm also not sure about how to go about doing that and "some" people suggested trying it anyway, so I did.
Everyone is aware you can go buy an unlock code for $25-$30, and it will work around all of these little roadblocks, but we're supposed to be here to help each other. So, someone much smarter than you figured out how to do this to the phone in whatever version the phones current state is.
You're just quoting other people, not offering any help
Now, if "You" are aware of a procedure to accomplish this the way the phone sits then please offer some help, otherwise Lose The Attitude and try treating people with a little respect.

Okay. I know it's asking a lot from you but let's think for a minute. Everything I have read says the phone has to be on 4.1.1. The method you are trying which is, using the dial pad to access the phone settings and not purchasing an unlock code or calling your carrier, only works for 4.1.1 which you obviously are not on currently, hence your predicament. Since you lack the skills to search and read how to downgrade, like you stated, the only other options are to purchase the code or call your carrier. He gave you all three options that work and you are saying he is useless? Your comments are the most useless comments I have read in a long time. It's like trying to make sense out of nonsense. You are asking for something that doesn't exist and it doesn't take much "intelligence" to figure that out. Good luck.

So I have stumbled upon a problem with rooting/unlocking the boot loader for the Verizon variant of the mot z play. I've seen posts and other tutorials asking for a solution. But I see a similar reply to those questions: that it isn't going to happen due to the lack of dev support. So I am creating this thread to ask the developers what we (the ones who want root for moto z play Verizon) can do to get their full attention on, not just the moto z play, but all Verizon variants. So Devs What do you want? and Owners, What can you give?

From what I understand, Verizon bootloaders are not unlockable. They have only seen to gotten more strict with this over time. I would recommend getting a non-verizon or att variant of every phone in the future.
"Not Unlock-able" is not in the vocabulary of the hacking world. I know someone some where can crack the boot-loader its only a matter of time and effort. Anything can be cracked.

In a theoretical sense that's likely true. But it may require more time, money and resources than are available to the Devs on XDA. I think the point is, if you buy a locked Verizon or AT&T device, don't count on an unlock ever being available, especially if you aren't paying the salary of the guy working on it.

So I got a great deal from sprint about half off a S20u And I jumped thinking I'd be able to root it. it's already been 30 days and I'm going to return the device since I thought it would be able to be rooted. will a root ever be available. Don't hold your breath waiting for Samsung to offer an unlocked bootloader on any US variants. There are no US Carrier Branded or US Unbranded devices which can be unlocked. If you want no bloatware then the US Unbranded device is an option but if you need root you'll have to consider a Snapdragon International or Exynos Global variant. On these devices Carrier Aggregation and Warranty Repair would be challenging at best.
Dose one plus make devices that ship with unlockable bootloader?

Will the bootloader be unlocked in the future, is that a possibility, haven't been on the forums in 7-8 years. This phone is incredible, but the bloatware makes it useless kills battery can't disable apps. Someone help im over 30 days and don't know if I wanna return. I'm paying $15USD/MONTH FOR 18 MONTHS with buyout for $250USD so it's quite an offer to refuse. But I need root access and a custom rom on THIS baby!

The only one who can answer this is a well placed Samsung Executive, certainly not a CSR. No one has a crystal ball in this regard but I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. Bloatware is the downside when you acquire a Carrier Branded Device and the $$$ you saved lose their value in the long run. Nowadays most carriers offer decent pricing on month to month prepaid without a long term commitment. Better off IMHO to wait a few months for price drops and feedback before purchasing any device. Saving a couple hundred on a smartphone you really weren't suited for doesn't add up.

So, your entire post was to show YOU have root, but not to provide any information at all on how you did it...when OP (and others, myself included) would like to know how it's done?
....thanks for nothing...

Well, it answers the OPs question, if it's legit.

point is to show its absolutely possible. And I cannot post something that A, isnt my method to post and B, its not allowed to be posted on xda. So take it how you want doesnt matter to me.

Wow. Disrespecting elliwigy is not good. That guy has provided things for the public in the past and thats how you do him? Its because of people like you that xda gets tainted. Hell I wouldn't release it.
And one last thing:

Who are you, his girlfriend? Go away.
To me it just seemed like a post bragging about him having root when others can't get it and obviously wanna know to do so. But if he can't or won't share how he achieved it, then whatever...it is what it is. But nowhere did I see him say he needed you to defend him, especially AFTER he already responded.
I'm done with the topic now though... moving on...

just because someone achieves something and let ppl know it is possible but cant provide details for understandable reasons such rules is not in any way bragging about anything.
I dont make the rules on here, in fact I support the rules and enforce them even considering I am a moderator.
Just because someone doesn't want to tell you details (because its simply not allowed) doesn't give you the right to judge people and post negatively about them in public. If you have any issues with me or anyone else I suggest you send them a PM next time.
Showing people that it is possible gives hope to those who feel it is imppssible and hopefully encourages them to keep at it.
I have no reason to lie to anyone and as you can tell uf you did any research on my past activities/posts you should see that every time I achieved root I posted freely to XDA so everyone could take advantage of it. So hopefully you understand if I could post publicly I would have already done so.
I did try to help people out and had them PM me and was advised not to do so even via PM because it is a paid service of which selling these types of services are not allowed on XDA. It is a paid service because the means to unlock the bootloader requires a purchase from a third party. There is no way to provide a "free" method as well as said service is device specific so there is no universal method and each unlock is tied to one device.
Think of it similar to those websites that offer sim unlocks. They are paid services tailored to one specific device. Paid services are not allowed on XDA since typically people use these methods to profit and in the past there have been a number of shady schemes hence why rules were formulated.
I hope this clears things up and you refrain from name calling and negatice remarks to people such as your last comment I quoted.

Instead of complaining take the initiative and hit someone up on telegram that you know has done this and im sure they would be glad to guide you too the proper place. Like elliwigy said it’s against xda rules to post such stuff here so why complain about it here. There are threads in s10 and s20 threads with people posting stuff for US unlocked bootloader phones. Hit those people up on telegram or outside of xda because people want too abide by the rules of xda and xda does not want this stuff posted on their forums.
