[Help] Snap turbo + MIUI - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok so installed MIUI 1.9.9 plus cm6 snap turbo BFs 7.6
and it wont install certain apps. like for example titanium back up or Go market (not that i need that one) but i need my titanium back up it says there is no space. i have 252mb free in internal...im not sure if its MIUI or snap turbo kernel...ok i found out i cant move apps to the internal either...its not the kernel ...so it must be the rom
damn 75 views no help...thanks.
also i have a question is there away to replicate this kernel and make it for MIUI also. so we can also get this amazingly fast Kernel ?

Why don't you just use the kernels that everyone on MIUI uses that are working perfectly fine?

Well for one thing the cm6 snapturbo kernel is a froyo kernal and the MIUI 1.9.9 is gingerbread. If you really want to run snapturbo you might consider trying the old froyo build of MIUI.

You can't expect to use an incompatible kernel and have everything work correctly. Flash a compatible kernel... problem solved.

Everything was working fine and it works for latest cm7 plus it was the rom like I stated already
rom: Miui
kernel: zensavage
MODS: vipermod ramscript optimization
oc: 1.13ghz

Snap haha those were the good days
It will not work with the new roms.
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.

[Q] [Kernel][Sense]2.6.35.14/OC/UV/CFS/Vdd_sysfs Wifi wont connect!?

Im running Virtuos Unity 1.31.0 rom. Ive tried different kernels Tiamat 1.1.2 and jdkernel both booted up but very unstable laggy and apps would not work . I found kernel sense by drellisdee works great but wifi will not connect .the reason i wanted different kernel was for oc the stock unity kernel only oc to 1.5 but drellisdee has option for higher but its been unstable past 1.6 ...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
switch over to CM7 if you want very high OC.
U shouldn't be using aosp kernels on sense roms things won't work that's why tiamat and jdkernel didn't work too well they are aosp kernels and your running a sense rom

Golden
All fixed up thanks for the info guys...I just did a clean install and aplied kernal right after working great at 1.7ghz and stable going for 1.8 I guess the issue stemed from applying kernel after restoring back up

CM7.1 vs DoomKernel

Hi
I had CM7.1 installed for a couple of weeks now and I find it more reliable and a lot faster than DoomKernel (last installed was v10)
Has anyone got the same experience?
Has anyone tried FX044? Is it worth it?
Cheers
Alex
CM7 = ROM. Doomkernel = kernel. Or do you mean the kernel provided with cyanogen?

Yes Stock Rom with DoomKernel vs CM7.1 (and it's Kernel)
Is it worth using DoomKernel for CM7?

It might be different with different users, DoomKernel offers lot more goverors and I/O Schedulers and CM7 is limited in that aspect. CM is just optimized for better battery performance no need for tweaking where DoomKernel you can tweak from low to extreme (i.e. Upto 2Ghz )

[Q] Bionic cow rom and v6 supercharger

hi can anyone tell me wheter if i installed the bionic cow 2 rom ,do i still need to install the v6 supercharger or is it already in the rom.thanks
The ROM itself has already been optimized. Of course, u still can use V6 for more aggressive supercharging.
I read the thread and some reported that if you apply v6 supercharge, you may experience FC or slowness. The ROM and fully optimized and fast. You don't need v6 supercharge for it.
You dont need it... The rom is fast enough as is
Bionic V2 + SuperCharger
Not needed but if you do a slight speed improvement will be experienced...Go for option no.7.and Nitro etc.
Vroom2.....Have personally tested on CWG's 4th ROM.... on 1.6GHz...OD...n playin' TempleRun...Nice !

Help me - choosing a ROM

Hello!
After some months I still can't find any ROM which meet my requirements.
Can you help me make a decision? What I would like to see:
- Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), perchange Android 4.0 (ICS)
- HTC Sense
- Fully working camcoder app, recording in 720p, focus on digital camera and video recorder, no FC's...
- OC to ~1.8 GHz (1843 MHz), I found this setting stable for my phone
- Possiblity to remove any redundant apps like Facebook...
I tried:
- Android Revolution HD (OC OK, annoying camcoder problems...)
- Virtuous Sense (insufficient OC)
- Virtuous G-Lite (insufficient OC, no Sense)
- Virtuous Unity (insufficient OC)
- Virtuous Affinity (stability problems)
- ILWT (insufficient OC, no Sense)
- MIUI (insufficient OC, crappy camcoder)
- CM7 (insufficient OC, no Sense)
I'll be thankful.
if you like the rom but cant overclock to your hearts desire just change the kernel

Advise me then.
pick one of the roms you liked but didnt overclock as far as you wanted then flash a compatible kernel on top of it the same way you flashed your rom
kerenl for the most part go like this:
ics - ics kernel
gingerbread - gingerbread kernel
etc.
also....
sense - sense kernel
aosp (and most cm) - aosp kernel
find a kernel that works with the rom you like and overclock the way youd like
I'd searched "G2 and Desire Z Development" category and I can't find a kernel for Virtuous G-Lite (Sense is not as important for me as O/C and efficiency ). I'm just out of ideas...
well you often wont find a kernel specific to one rom. if the rom you like has a sense base use a sense kernel etc.

I can't get it. What if I want to find kernel for Virtuous G-Lite which doesn't have Sense? What to type in searcher?
glite is a 2.3.x rom aosp based, try one of these kernel

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847672
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ilwtcm7kernel/
they should work fine for you
Try AOKP in tablet mode. Beautiful, everything works, and ICS. I'm running it for 3 days, and I didn't had any lags at all.

[Q] HTC Desire Bugged Overclock. Help please :(

Hello people , I rooted my desire 2.3.3 official with Superuser , but when I have opened No frills cpu , minimum cpu what can I select was 128 mhz and maximum 980 mhz ...I mean there must be a 1190 mhz but its missing , please help
What did u use to root? HTC Desire?
Maximum MHz is 1113..
Try installing Rom Toolbox and check there.
It's probably your kernel. There's CronMod kernel for Gingerbread, try that. Using it w/ CyanogenMod 7.2 and I get 1220MHz Overclock.
Some kernels doesn't allow overclock at all ( Like sense ones ).
Edit:
CronMod ( Rom w/ Kernel )
Download it below in main post. ( Under CronMod Kernel )
Don't flash it on Sense rom. If you want your Sense roms, then take a look at Development section and flash a sense rom.
They are most likely to be better than official roms, because of features like A2SD or INT2EXT and extended overclocking capabilities.

Did you flash a custom Sense / rom or a custom kernel? I meantioned that a post before.
As I said, you kernel might be restricting the overclock.
Edit:
Now I am using Evervolv Kitkat 26.12.13 nightly, It's great, got 1113 OC with it, A little bit less than with cronmod, but still good speed.
Really, Don't stay with stock sense, since you can't do much with it, If you want sense there's plenty of roms in Development section, w/ kernel optimisations and larger overclocks ( sounds kinky) .
If you don't know how to flash a custom rom / kernel ( w/ recovery ) then you should check tutorials of doing that.
My config;
- CM7r2 hboot
- 4EXT Recovery
- 2GB ext4 partition
- 32GB Sandisk Extreme Class 10 card
- CM 7.2.0.1 - rom altered by me with 7Zip and UOT Kitchen
- Go Launcher EX

Like EviLShadeZ says; it depends on the ROM, and the kernel.. Rooting ur phone, does not automatically mean wild OC'ing..
Besides, most (if not all..?!) CyanogenMod ROMS have built-in CPU control, so u wont need NO frills CPU, or whatever..
