Request for q&a section - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I know its kinda early for this but general is filled with questions
Thank me or reply or something to show your support
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium

A Q&A section will not be created until the volume needs it - usually 1000 threads in General or 10,000 posts. There will be some organizing happening soon though.

Nooooooo
Time to spam post and threads
Jk jk
But it does look like well need one we already have around 3oo and the phone just came out

Nah - we'll just need to properly infract users who can't follow the Forum Rules and who don't adhere to the XDA Mantra

I was thinking of this too, but jerdogs post makes sense.

Question about xda use

I tried to comment or reply and says that I have no access or permission would just like to join the discussion on forums also thank all the great devs is it an issue of mobile use and personal computer use please help thanks ??

I think you need X amount of posts before you can post in the dev section.
Answer some questions in Q&A or join in on a discussion in General. You do have to have 10 posts to post in other, development-related forums. That doesn't mean spam out 6 more posts to get there. Your spam posts could possibly be deleted, lowering your post count anyway, so do it right the first time.
Plus, spamming to get 10 posts makes you look like a douche. And nobody wants to look like a douche.

It is just a way to protect the Development section from bull**** posts like this. Just participate in Q&A or post in General in the Rumor thread. You can get 10 posts in 10 minutes there.

You dont have to start new threads to meet that requirement but since this is already here just keep posting in here to meet that requirement. What rom do you plan or are running?

Unfortunately, it's because of posts like this that this rule was put in place.
I shudder to think what useless crap you wish to flood the Development section with.

It can be frustrating for those who generally browse and only post after not finding the right question answer combo. But, that is not the norm.

That is what Q&A section is for. Then after getting the question answered the user gains knowledge they can pass on. The 10 posts are easily reached that way.

I'm in the same boat. I use and test a bunch of different roms, but can never report my bugs or ask ROM specific questions in the dev threads. Usually I can find my answer by searching, but that's not always the case. I guess I'm more of a watcher than an active participant at this point.

Just post a legitimate question in Q&A and respond with thank you's and what is the best way to do that's and you will hit 10 posts in less than a day. And then you are good to go. People using the ROMs that have answers read Q&A too.

Both u and I have seen how nubes destroy dev threads with comments/issues that have A) either been posted in the op or B) previusly stated....with that being said I have no intention of bein a pain in anyones ass I just feel...restricted in a sense....like a little kid that was told he can play in the play ground but not talk to anyone...but for the right reasons...

Like all things new people have to suffer for past people abusing or screwing something up. It is a protection from Spammers and people just popping on, saying something stupid and they're gone. It is only for the development section where posts should be more professional and intelligent. 10 posts are nothing. But it is a small safety. Perhaps if the OP was worded more professionally the flaming would not have started.

If you've been reading the threads (which I'm sure you have), you'll find the Epic community is the most helpful, most welcoming one around. Trust me, I work on the Evo 4G as well and the Epic boards are much more tight-knit.
Having said that- did you get the answer to the MIUI issue? Sounds like it was just a bad download...

CAN WE MAKE A STICKY? a sgs2 bible

always found it extremely useful in the 4g forums when i had that phone. it always was my first place to look for guidance to the right thread before asking any questions or trying to search through pages of threads.
I would be more than willing to do this myself
Its already a sticky in the general section
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
That's sounds good, but this is the dev thread. Only threads pertaining to ROMS &kernels belong here. The only thing you are going to get by posting here is a private message from a mod or flamed. This served better to be in general or Q&A.
Sent from the pink Unicorn from the Darkside.
I'm sure if you or someone else were to post a concise "bible" it would almost be an automatic sticky, IMO of course.

Well, one thing to consider would be to post this type of question in the appropriate section.

There is a 'ROM Bible', it's called the Development forum. Read it, study it, don't post in it unless you are contributing to Development.

helping Themes/Apps Section

I have noticed in the last several months that our themes and apps section has turned into something other than a themes and apps section. Every other thread is a question, a request, just a link, a comment, or something that doesn't belong there. Can we keep it to mods, how-to's, themes, and apps that are made for xda members(not just a whole new thread saying "hey, this is in the market now").
And people are now complaining "we don't have any themes anymore", well we'd see a lot more if they weren't competing with useless threads in the wrong section. Compare our section to other phones and it makes ours look like a community board about anything and everything. So....keep our themes/apps section clean!
Rant over...

Well, technically all the guides and howto's Dan, Timmetal and I have been posting really belong in the Development section but they rapidly get lost among all the Rom threads. So I hope it's alright with everyone that I'd rather post there too.
I think how to threads that are related to modifying apps should go in themes and apps.
How to threads for developing ROMs should be in Development.

Different Rom sections

What is the big difference between the roms contained in these 2 sections? Sorry for being a noob i just dont understand why there are 2 sections. Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development and the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Original Android Development
The roms in the original development section are built from source.
More aosp (less touchwiz).

No, I am just kindly stating if you had taken 5 minutes to read through prior posts instead of cluttering the forum with duplicate questions you would have seen the same member who answered your post had answered this question for someone already

I agree. You can usually find your answer a lot quicker on Google than posting a duplicate thread and hoping someone replies. You also avoid people like abcdefg pointing out the obvious.
Learn to use search. You will be glad you did trust me

Or you could just not complain, stop worrying about board clutter, and give an answer to someone who feels the necessity to ask questions that have been asked so many times it makes people want to gouge their eyeballs out with a soldering iron every time they see them. /sarcasm

People get so butt hurt when you call them out for not even trying to search... Apparently, those of us who would like to have fewer garbage topics asking the same thing are the moderators pets or something.. Eflip88 might remember that from a few days ago
No, the reason people get annoyed about a thousand different threads on the same topic couldn't be because it just makes it that much harder for people who actually WANT to do the legwork and use the search bar.. That couldn't be it...
