I think you need X amount of posts before you can post in the dev section.

Answer some questions in Q&A or join in on a discussion in General. You do have to have 10 posts to post in other, development-related forums. That doesn't mean spam out 6 more posts to get there. Your spam posts could possibly be deleted, lowering your post count anyway, so do it right the first time.
Plus, spamming to get 10 posts makes you look like a douche. And nobody wants to look like a douche.

Change "Min.10 posts policy"

Hi
I am a junior member of XDA but I have a good experience of flashing ROMs. But the problem is that I cannot post any review/reply about that ROM due to this policy by which you should have minimum 10 posts. I understand that development-purpose threads are for developers but this policy restricts us to do any sort of development-related discussion even if we are capable of doing so. So I would request XDA to please remove the policy. Thanks.
Oh great. Another one of these threads...
It's only 10 posts. It's NOT 50, 100 or anything. It's ONLY 10. You're already half way there so go and help some people in your devices Q&A section to get your other 5 posts.
If your excuse is going to be that you haven't got the knowledge to help people out, then you have no need to post in development.
In fact, I pretty much guarantee you'll have nothing relevant to post in a development thread anyway.

All the mods want to hunt you down and kill you, but they aren't allowed to acknowledge this in public

No full-form.
XDA was a HTC device back in the PDA days, and that device was responsible for the birth of this site. More Info.

If you can contact an administrator or senior mod, they may be able to help lift your restrictions. But you have to be able to convince them that you are knowledgeable. This is not guaranteed. Easiest thing to do is to hang out in the General Forums and help other new members so as to attain your 10 posts.
I'm personally tired of threads like these. Funny, I don't see anyone anywhere complaining about lifes rules. What's the difference here? Everyone here had to adhere to this rule, why should you or anyone else be any different? I just don't get it...
Ohh!!

Well, removing isn't really an option, that would allow idiots to spam noob questions after 1 day.
But I've been here since mid 2011, been reading a lot, just not posting anything.
And I still have to meet the 10 posts rule. Maybe it's an idea to have either 10 posts, or being on the forum for a certain amount of time and have an x amount of pageviews or something.
Nonetheless, rules are rules, and rules are not to be broken :good:
For all you 10 post whiners in this thread, have a look at this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166989
A thread created by a new member. 4 of his 5 posts are uuseless threads ffor which answers can be easily found by a bit of searching, what would happen now if this Guy was let loose in the development forum? I am not saying that all of you are like this. I have also seen some members whose first post was an extremely informative thread, but that's at a minority. Rules are rules and they are there for a reason, i realized this after staying on xda for more than 1.5yrs

please port a rom

please port some kind of rom
Please unlock the bootloader, then.
Boot loader doesn't need to be unlocked for a port. According to thecubed that is.
I will be starting to learn how to make Roms tomorrow.

I appreciate your optimism and generally good attitude. However, juniors who don't read the rules and have a general disregard for the organization and structure of this community are a detriment. They create extra work for moderators who volunteer their time and make finding information substantially more difficult for users of the site.
If memory serves me well, one of the rules is not to ask for development or etas, though it's been a while since I've peeked at them. Another is certainly posting in the correct forum - which this is not.
I'm going to be blunt, I don't think junior members should be allowed to post in the development sections. Moderators should have the ability to upgrade to a regular member at any time if they see a junior acting accordingly. Likewise, if you post in wrong sections and then abandon the section without reporting your post to a moderator to be closed along with an apology, you should be demoted to a junior for some time. This would prevent a cluttered mess to have to sift through.
It's bad enough we have a severe lack of development due to exclusivity and bootloader issues without the added stress of clutter. I'm not hating on the Op but it sure is disrespectful and I'm sure most will agree with me that it isn't appreciated or beneficial by anyone.

Whoa let's not turn this into a mod hating thread man. I completely agree with the both of you though. It can definitely get frustrating though. I was just saying to the other guy that said the op needs yo learn how to read. I just that part was uncalled for.

2nd.... noobs, juniors, seniors or moderators we are all on a learning curve and should respect all with patience. Everyone has asked a dumb question, a question that might have already been answered etc. I have and I can only assume all the moderators and or senior members have done the same. gentle reminder rather than coming down on members should be at hand. chill...... this should be an enjoyable situation for all....

this forum is a disaster and not because of misplaced posts, in fact, just the opposite. we have 12 ****ing mods for this forum, 12.
that's prolly more than peeps posting in here. and they are the ones that **** up the forum moving threads around almost willy nilly.
i ask what peeps are using their qbutton for in the gen forum, that thread got moved to help. umm wtf.
get rid of 11 of the 12 mods and teach the one remaining about which threads go where.

Also, many topics are directed to the big "discuss" thread. (the one that was started before this forum even existed, with a ton of useless junk) Why make people go through that? It's convenient to only read threads of interest...
And why mess with threads that have been dead for days?

No, they are directed to be posted in general or Q&A. That's not difficult at all. This post has no place in the development section, period. It's not hard to read the rules and post in proper sections.
This isn't a debate, this is in the wrong section. Development goes in development. Questions in Q&A. Accessories in accessories. Everything else falls in general.

I'm referring to the five recently locked topics in the general section... So, if not many, certainly more than a few.

Didn't see those until you mentioned it. That seems ridiculous to me too. In fact I've never seen something like that done in other phone forums. I can imagine it being done for duplicate threads but forcing us to use s single thread seems ridiculous.

First OP Thread Closed & Moved out of the Development Section I will ask you to read the Forum Rules on Posting.
The Moderation Team is made of volunteers and they are Members just like you, if you see threads and or posts out of place...report them, vice posting in this manner.
The Moderation Team can not be in all threads,...again if you find threads that need addressing report it, we rely on Members to point out issues/violations.
Thank You.

Instead of asking this silly question in public, why don't you send a private message to Tony Skyfall? Or, how about a moderator? I don't know how you expect any of us

instead of tony getting this silly question 1000 times (he had over 1000 downloads) in his PM box. why not answer here. i am curious why the thread got locked too.
give it time and a mod or tony himself will answer, the question was not directed to you
Sorry if you thought I took it personally. I don't take anything on this site personally. I'm only here to ask questions, bug report, and help people when I can. If you read the thread, it would be pretty obvious. Instead of the thread accumulating 50 pages of whining about battery life or something off topic, he probably locked the thread, as he mentioned a few times that he was really busy and wouldn't be updating for several weeks. Do we really want the thread to be like the shpongle thread where everything had been said but nobody can find it through the last 50 pages of off topic?

Post in Q&A or General section. (Don't just spam in OT, but help other users)
Take a look at my Icon Pack. Click here!
Rules are rules. And if you've been around XDA for as long as you say you'd also know that this topic has been beat to death. @edisile is quite correct! :fingers-crossed:

[Q] posting in development section

The server sometimes takes a while to catch up - give it a few hours and if the posting restrictions haven't lifted by then PM an admin who can look into it further
Edit: Also you spammed your way to 10 posts by posting useless posts such as "thanks!" and "love it!" so your posts have been deleted and account permissions reset.
Actually also I think that it doesn't suppose to be like this... I'm a bad example but let's say I want to give my contribute to a Dev thread and i'm not interested in other stuff rather than development I just get stuck and I cannot help
