I have been wanting to play some PS1 games. Do the emulators around support multi disk games, I.E. Metal Gear Solid, Grand Turismo, and FF7 (I'm 27 and have yet to play this!). I know some games used to say 'insert disk 2' will this be possible?
Also will overclocking and removing bloat help speed up games like zelda OoT, and Mario 64?
Stupid AT&T and there release date! I told the people at the local store I would not tell on them but they stil are gonna make me wait until tomorrow to buy one. Oh well, I can research today and game on tomorrow!
FPse. The best emulator on the market. Supports multi disk games

Overclocking and removing bloat does help, but nothing major. It still is recommended to remove and ocw
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?
Removing bloatware doesnt really speed up any emulators, PS1 and N64 game run perfectly on my xperia play but if you want a performance boost in some games that might run a bit slower then go into the setting of whatever emulator you are using and turn up the frame skip a bit, dont put it up all the way or the game will look choppy.
Good tip. Thanks!

Yes, I only got zelda working on it. The sound is very choppy and it locks up quite a bit. It's a great start though. I'm running CM7

Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna wait until super smash bros is working to buy it.

Yeah... I was playing zelda ocarina of time too. It locks up on saving sometimes but the developer who put it out is the best emulator developer for android. I have total faith in his work so it will be pretty darn good in the next few weeks/couple of months... the G2 can handle it for sure.
F ZERO x RUNS effortless, anyone know of a good shootemup?
Oh and also what's everyone using apart from emulator roms?
Cheers guys
I absolutely love this!
Games that work perfect: Super mario 64
Games that work good: Mario kart 64, pokemon stadium 2, smash bros
Games that work "ok": Zelda, ocarina of time
Games that refused to load: paper mario(probably bad download)
Also, can someone help me on setting up a wiimote with the game? I've dowloaded wiimote controller from the market, synced my wiimote and classic controller, set it as my default ime, and remaped them in the n64oid settings. It detects the keays just fine when mapping them, but when I push something on the wiimote while playing a game, it does nothing.

In n64oid settings go to other settings and check "use input method" and it should work. Hope that helps.
OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU. JK lol, but seriously I totally missed the setting. Oops
Gotta love playing all these games. Remind me of my youth!

You can use a rom finding app to download them straight to your device or you can download it and send to sd via pc.
The legal upside to it is that you are supposed to own the game that you download and these roms are "backups"...lol

Yeah, they're the best out there. This one is new and will take a while but it will be perfect soon enough. I remember the sega and snes took a lot of work but they are perfect now. 64 bit is harder to emulate but it can be done with higher end phones like the G2/Desire Z. Hell, look at PS1... its almost runs almost perfectly after several revisions. Just takes a lot of work and time... woth the wait and a few bucks
I'm amazed at how well the emulation is with this first release. I've been playing only LOZ: OOT using my Game Gripper and it's awesome. Had to remap the buttons a bit but I found a configuration that works pretty okay for me
Can't wait for more releases. The big stink is that there are some FC's so I have to constantly save states.
Pokemon Stadium 2 is a little buggy D:
LOZ:OOT should be fking sweet to play.
Forsaken runs nearly perfect with the phone clocked to 1.5GHz, maybe less. Looks and runs like a native game.
Really needs wiimote or some such for controls though.
Super smash brothers works fine on my phone, are you overclocked? all the games run smooth when you are at 1.5ghz
mario kart and super mario 64 both work great.
donkey kong 64 does not however :/ it's as if the screen is the wrong size.
Zelda TooT runs smooth at 1.8 ghz

Has anyone tried the new PS1 emu yet? The word generally is that it is miles ahead of psx4droid, however i dont have a G2/desire z yet. Im looking at getting this phone as my next purchase.
Yes, ofcourse. It is way much better than psx4droid! There is a thread on xda discussing FPse!
trust me its a hell lot better than psx, fpse is so much cooler and it runs a lot smoother than psx

The word would be correct. Just don't confuse savestates with loadstates. That made me lose about 4 hours of FFVII when I was drunk. Its badass though. I went online and found a FFVII savegame and put it on my SD, fpse read it just fine and I was back in business.

Was using it back in my WinMo days, now I'm using it on the DZ and I love it, the hardware keyboard makes all the difference.
Runs nice and smooth (I play without sound, though, personal preference).
FPSE is ok. a lot of the games that work on psx4droid, dont on FPSE, which can get quite annoying.
But the frame rate and the over all smoothness is better on FPSE.
AND if you get sixaxis pair tool from the market, you can play the games with a ps3 controller (FPSE)! The controller doesnt work however on psx4droid.
(Just a little input)

Are there any games such as tekken/mortal kombat for the play?
Also destruction derby/GTA Vice city and any other good car games?
Thanks guys & girls...
Ps. Best recommended emulator and best games available for it?
best PSX emulator is FPSe my experience, also SNES EX. My 2 must haves. As far as Xperia Play Games, I spent a ton of time with Gun Bros, pocket legends (both free to Play). Also Gameloft makes some quality games. For RPG Eternal Legacy is quite fun. Just to name a few but here's a link to the complete list of games which may also help you.

If I was to get the iso for tekken on ps1, would that work on my xperia play with the FPSe emulator? Can games also be saved onto the memory card?
Is there GTA 3/GTA Vice City for the Xperia play?
Thanks once again.
no problem, if you have the iso FPSe seems to be the most compatible so without guaranteeing it I will say that it is highly likely to work. And GTA3/Vice City were ps2 which the play is not powerful enough to emulate but i'm pretty sure gameloft has a gta style game called Gangstar that i'm failry certain is Play optimized. And yes iso games are stored on the SD Card. Which if you are like me and go iso crazy (some games ranging between 300mb up to 1.8gb (FF7 3 discs)) i would highly recommend upgrading your 8gb SD card to at least 16 if not 32gb.
Yeah, 8gb is the bare minimum, 16gb or 32gb would be the better choice.
I'm just getting some classic games as we speak. Some include Tekken 3, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Twisted Metal 3, Street Fighter & Donkey Kong Country...
If you want to go oldskool all yongzh's emulators are still free over @ slideme https://slideme.org/user/3168/applications/3168. Megadrive, Snes etc. Use google for the roms.
Thanks Mozza2k11, I got the Nintendo 64 emulator for games such as street fighter and donkey kong.
Also downloaded the Sega emulator for streets of rage 3, mortal kombat, etc...
Then theres an emulator for ps1 games, either the psx4droid or FPse emulator.
After doing some research, some people say the psx emulator is the better one, others prefer the FPse emulator.
Which one should I go for? Which of the 2 have the most stability, stable constant performance & most importantly reliable and would I be able to save games?

Haha, ok, will try the FPSE emulator tomorrow hopefully should my Sony Ericsson Xperia Play arrive!!
Will let you know how the FPSE emulator is soon...
Or you can use the playstation pocket app with psxperia.
Use FPse, it's loads easier to setup and manage. There's a whole thread about people stating their favorite/best games for PS1. CHECK IT
Old topic, I know.
But best one's IMO:
Asphalt 6, NFS: Hot Pursuit, Dead Space, Minecraft PE (As long as it gets new content and more good updates).
Im a bit picky and havent bought that many games
Gameloft makes some quality games, like modern combat 3 and asphalt 6.
Then emulator n64 and psx
Hello all,
I would like to play all of the awesome new titles coming out but it seems like NONE of them are compatible with my shinny new GS2. I know the GS2 has the juice to run these games flawlessly but their simply not available and don't work... Could someone help me out and let me know if it is possible to play these games with Chainfire 3D?
Shadowgun
9MM
Modern Combat 2 (3 when it is released..)
GT Racing
It is simply rediculas we own the most powerful device on the market and we can't play the best games because the devs are too lazy to follow standards
Well I've been fighting with this phone since day one to get these to work... I have the nvdia plug in and i changed the market settings and still nothing. I know i can go off market and get them... But i prefer to pay the devs for their apps.

SuperN64 (N64 Emulator) is what you're looking for
Just watch out it sometimes prompts you to download applications, so make sure you read all the pop up windows. Otherwise compatibility and smoothness are awesome! Overall good emulator
Use My Boy! Free - GBA Emulator for gbc/gba. You will need to find the bios for this though.
I'm sorry I can't post the direct links because I'm new here and probably my last post since the captchas are annoying lol

My personal chart:
N64:
Super N64 (tried Super Mario 64 and Smash Bros both flawlessy)
Mupen64Plus AE (a bit outdated but will be ported to OUYA in near future so we can expect a better optimization for tegra devices, to be IMHO monitored)
GBA:
GBA.Emu (Compatible even with golden sun 1/2 music tracks, have a problem with mario advance 4 music otherwise i'd say perfect).
My Boy!
Gameboid (Not available on market anymore)
PSX:
epsxe (Tried only Tekken 3 and it's perfect).
NDS:
NDS4Droid (Around 30-50% speed but I'd say good compatibility).
DSoid (Less compatible but with some games emulated up to 80-90% speed. Games like FF XII Revenant Wings and Fire Emblem don't work correctly).
SNES:
SuperGNES
Snesoid (No more available on market)
PSP:
PPSSPP (No other alternatives but to be an early version it's IMHO very good).
Awesome guys I appreciate the help.

I just started playing with SuperGNES. It is a very well made emulator. Downloads coverart and lots of neat features. Scans your storage automatically. Very easy to use. Probably the best emulator I've ever used.
I also do PSX using FPse but it is a crap shoot. Games play great mostly but the interface is clumsy and require lots of tweaking each time. Some settings don't seem to want to stick after a restart. OpenGL plugin makes games look very good though. I'm currently mid way through FF7. Games play full speed in normal mode and a about 40-60fps using OpenGL.
Those really are my two consoles I really like to emulate.
I also use a Moga controller. I also have a PSx tethered (4.2.1 screwed up sixaxis wireless support afaik).

I expect to see something during these holidays However DSoid improved very much with last update even if it completely lacks options.

Way to go guys, you just recommended the same exact emulator, but one is riddled with adware and downloads, not to mention the author probably stole the source code and is profiting off of it without the permission of the guy who actually ported it. (Paul Lamb, paulscode.com and author of Mupen64plus) Also, Mupen64 Plus is NOT outdated. He simply hasn't pushed the latest updates to the Play Store yet. Version 2.0 is coming out soon with multiplayer support (Multiple controllers on one device) and a nice cheat system. You can try some bleeding edge builds here. - http://www.paulscode.com/forum/index.php?topic=723.0
Plays great and the interface is much better. Please don't support those assholes who take other people's work for a quick buck.
Yup, there are recent builds of mupen64 - ad free and fully open source. I'd say the games run almost as well as n64oid, but I like it better because of its great gamepad support.
