I'm heading to greece on my honeymoon monday. Coming from my blackberry days I know the phone had to be unlocked first to work overseas. I just want to make sure if I get to greece I can use a prepaid card opposed to Verizon's ridicuolous overseas plans they offer. I'm using a rooted gingersense tomorrow if that matters.

What you could try is asking VZW for the unlock code, when you place another sim in it will ask for code and then sim unlock. Otherwise have to use xtc clip.

yea XTC clip is one way, and like mentioned above, call verizon they will help you out with anything you need.
you can also buy an unlock code if you can't get it from verizon.

So here's the deal my phone is on my dads plan and I absolutely love my dinc2 but u hate Verizon and frankly can't afford it is there a way to unlock this phone to work on virgin boost if tmobile? Do I need to be rooted? Can I have 3g still on another network ? I tried to search and only found issues regarding out of country sim card issues

I read someone had luck using it on AT&T. This was only after using an XTC clip, though.
I think I read it in the group XTC clip but thread

I just called Verizon and ask for the similar unlock code.

from what i've read about verizon's 3G bands, you won't be able to use any verizon phone on 3G networks of other carriers, unlocked or not - only EDGE.
Is it possible to use the Inc 2 on US based GSM providers? I see the phone supports US GSM frequencies.
Yes but it needs to be unlocked by software. www.CDMA-guru.com is a good place if you want to do it on your own. If not take it to a shop and they can do it for you.
Yes, ask verizon global dept for the unlock code.
Most of the time they will provide it. Tell them you are traveling Asia and want it unlocked.
XTC clip also allows it.

it should work on att and tmo however im not sure if 3g will work because of different bandwith.

Oh ok, I wouldn't do it just wondering. I'm deploying soon so I need to start shopping for carriers in Afghanistan.

It definitely works with Etisalat in UAE.
to confirm, i get Edge in the states on a AT&T sim.
in Asia (Vietnam) i get 3g via UMTS on Mobifone and Viettel
So lets say I wanted to get coverage in an area I normally don't but AT&T has coverage. If I unlock my phone do I have to pay for AT&T service and it is a different number or do I retain my number just pay for the service through AT&T? This is my first go around with all of this and I am not sure it will be worth it.
You have to get service with the other carrier. Which means a second number. I would recommend just doing a prepaid. Remember under your mobile networks settings you have to switch between gsm and cdma.

is it possible to use simple mobile on the incredible 2? i know it has a sim card but i am not sure. If i can what steps do i need to take in order to do so. Thanks
You would need to either contact Verizon's global team and have them provide you with the unlock code or you could purchase an unlock code from eBay.

Once you unlock the SIM it should work. I unlocked mine and have been able to use the straight talk Nokia SIM that I had. It works except I don't get 3G connection. EDGE only. Otherwise it works fine. Will come in handy whenever I travel to Mexico next month.

seems that everyone uses that one...
i have an AT&T Galaxy S3 that i purchased from ebay without a contract, i logged on the AT&T website and chatted with one of the representatives, she told me to wait for a few minutes while she checks my account, then she gave me the instructions with a code to unlock the phone (i am not under a contract and probably why it was that easy)
:good:luck!!!

not true, you don't need to have paid full price.

I called AT&T the other day and asked for my unlock code. Put me on hold for 5 minutes and gladly handed it over. I got the phone subsidized, during the preorder.
That's true. I have unlocked two subsidized phones. Just try couple different reps.

I used www.cellunlocker.net, worked fine and code came back quickly (from what I read it seems easier to get AT&T codes than it is for some other networks).
Chatted with international rep on the AT&T site and got the unlock code.
i'm a brand new AT&T customer with this phone- subsidized pricing and 2 year contract.
logged into chat after 2 weeks of service and they gave me the unlock code without any questions.
FREE.
I got my unlock code directly from AT&T. I do not have another carrier sim card to place in the phone (that will fit, this is a smaller than standard size sim card). There are people in my office that have T-mobile, sprint, or Virgin but have full size sim cards.
Any suggestions or instructions??
Thanks!!
I've heard about a few people going into t mobile and asking to borrow one. They shouldnt mind they are probably thinking you'll use on tmob after unlocking

I'm wondering - would a SIM from an AT&T MVNO (such as RedPocket) be considered a "non AT&T SIM card" for purposes of unlocking?
I just bought an "H20 Wireless" micro sim card on Ebay for .99.
Hopefully it will do the trick...will post an update (if anyone cares) if it does or doesn't work when I receive it.
Why don't you just store the code and use it when you get any non att sim? I mean, why waste money, even a $, unless well you have a willing non att friend who can lend you his sim.

Because I just got a Galaxy S 4 and I'm selling the phone. You wouldn't spend a $1???

Got it. I didn't think of selling phone. I was thinking on my lines given that I am a frequent traveler, and get code from AT&T within 90 days or earlier of getting a new phone.
OK. so i put the H2O sim card in and reboted several times and all I get is "sim card not provisioned".
So I just borrowed a Verizon sim card from someone in the office that has a Verizon Galaxy S III and got the same thing.
I am not being prompted for an unlock code?
What Am I doing wrong???
