SD card blank after 2.3.4 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I was on 2.2 rooted G2 and I updated to a rooted 2.3.4 via clockwork mod and now when i boot up the phone it still nags about updating to 2.3.3 and it says the SD card is blank.
did i miss something? what could be wrong with the phone?
thanks

did you wipe data/cache via CWM recovery before flashing?
Have you tried other SDcards?
Which ROM did you flash? if you flashed a pre-rooted ROM, you should never receive a OTA notification.

other SD cards seem to work. but the "blank" SD card I flashed from doesn't work anymore.
The SD card reads fine on PC tho. Yes i did a wipe.
I can still go into CWM with the "blank" sd card.

Stuck at Splash screen after failed SD card

My dinc is set up like this:
9.01 radio
.92 bootloader
I flashed a rom and then it said my sd card went bad. Tried flashing another rom and it problem persisted. As a last resort i tried to reformat my sd card with no luck. got an error. I then tried to flash through recovery and did a full wipe (my mistake for doing this) but cant flash another rom since the sd card it bad. When i restart it gets stuck at the splash screen.
I bought another sd card and placed a rom which i know works on it and it seemed to have installed fine, but now when i restart i get stuck at the splash screen like i did before.
Any ideas?
Maybe i need to find the original update.zip file from when i first rooted? My sd card is empty except for that rom i put on it.
I found it. Nope, didnt work. Maybe i need to flash a recovery, though i have none anymore.
In case someone else comes across the same problem, i fixed it.
The sd card was ruined. unable to reformat or anything. Luckily i back up my sd card recently so i transfered everything to my new sd card. Went into recover and did a recovery of an old backup.

[Q] SD card unexpectedly removed / Damaged SD card

Hello, I am on an HTC One V running PACman ROM 15.3, with the kernel JmzPrimoC+.
I started having this problem a couple weeks ago. It would randomly unmount my SD card saying 'SD card unexpectedly removed'.
This started to happen more and more often until it would say that as soon as I put the SD card in.
I did a factory reset, which helped for about 5 minutes before it started happening again. Now, more recently, it started saying 'Damaged SD card. SD card is damaged. Try reformatting it.'
I put it in my computer (which doesn't show anything wrong with it), and did a full format. It didn't help at all.
This problem is happening with both my regularly used SD card (SanDisk Ultra® microSDHC™ UHS-I 32 GB (the red and grey one)), and my ordinary SD card (8 GB class 4 Kingston).
I don't think this can be a hardware problem because when I boot to recovery, TWRP recognizes it perfectly.
But I don't either see how its a software problem, because a factory reset should have helped...
Please help me, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe its a bug in the rom?

Hhmmm...
Good idea. What other ROMs work with JmzPrimoC+ kernel? AOKP?

OK, update, now TWRP won't read the card! Either card!
Now I'm getting really nervous...
Does this mean it must be hardware?
Is there ANYTHING I can do now?
Please help!
Wow, I screwed up really bad.
I was gonna use TWRP to flash a new rom, so I did a factory reset, and then started flashing the rom.
But in middle of flashing the rom it was interrupted. So I rebooted, rereset, and then I realized... it's not reading my card.
I can boot to bootloader and recovery, but that's it. No OS. I'm screwed.
Is there ANYTHING I can do?
Is it possible to flash a rom over USB? Or SOMEHOW get my card working again?
Just enter recovery and use adb sideload to flash a ROM.

But I need an SD card in order to use ADB sideload!
It fails every time because
Code:
E:Unable to mount /sdcard
Is there ANY way to do this without an SD card?
OK, I was able to do it following this guide.
I flashed the latest version of PACman. Still rejecting my SD card though.
I guess it's a hardware issue. Too bad my warranty is void from bootloader unlock :\
Try to partition SD Card in recovery
I am facing same issue and I came across this thread while looking for solution. Here is what I tried. That resolved issue for five minutes and then damn! same issue again but someone can find possible fix using the info here.
HTC One V rooted, currently running MIUI 3.1.2 with JB 4.1.2
Sandisk 8 GB SD Card.
Firmware CWM Recovery
I was facing same issue even before I rooted my phone while Original HTC ICS 4.0 Firmware was installed. MY observation is the problem starts few months after you start using SD Card. (Insert a new SD card in your phone, it will work fine for days / months and then will start giving same error.
While I tried thousand time to remove SD card, clean slot, clean card and reinsert, it did not work. May be worked just once for few seconds. When I tried to connect phone to PC and browse SD card contents, the card was not detected.
Booted to recovery, tried to format card, not detected. Tried to mount SD card, not detected. Then tried to partition SD card in Advanced options in recovery. The available options are 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB, 2048MB and 4096MB. Since my SD card is 8 GB, chose the largest option. Now got an option to choose SWAP partition size. Chose 256 MB. Next chose option fix permissions, you have to wait until you see message permissions fixed message on screen.
Now rebooted phone, and voila! It worked!! SD card with 3.94GB memory is detected. But what happened to my rest of 4 GB?
Tried many apps to manage SD card from Play store. Using an app called APart, was able to delete partitions on SD card and create new ones. It worked for few minutes and then again I got SD card unexpectedly removed message.
Does this info makes any sense? I am not a developer and do not know much into phones but someone who know might be able to help. Buying a new SD card is not an option here because its going to work temporarily.
Have you tried formatting the SD card with your computer?

[SOLVED] No storage accessible (any!)

Hello guys,
I have a problem, help would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I did and what happened.
I was on JellyKat 6.7 but phone kept reboting so I decided to do dirtyflash of the same ROM. What could go wrong, right, after all - it is a same ROM
After flashing JK and 3 OTAs from TWRP the phone booted fine. But after a while I noticd that I can't write to internal SD card.
After more playing, I noticed that I can write to internal SD from \data\media\... but not from \storage\...
Since nothing worked, I decided (bad choice again) to wipe the internal SD. After all, I have a backup on ExtSD of all important folders.
After formatting IntSD from recovery (and wiping dalvik&cache), I still couldn't see internal SD (from \storage) but I also couldn't see EXTERNAL storage as well!
Putting the SD card in the reader I checked that it is visible on PC. Uhhhh, didn't lose my data!
Now. With problems with both int and ext SD.... what do I do to repair it??? The phone boots OK, but no storage is available
Thanx!
edit:
I formatted extSD card on my pc to FAT32 (was exFAT) so now I can see it from recovery (but still not from the ES explorer when the phone boots).... will try to restore nandroid of 4.3 I have....
edit2:
OK, flashed Philz (since my nandroid backup was done with that), and restoreing... keeping my fingers crossed. If this fails, is it safe to flash STOCK Samsung 4.1.2 ROM from Odin (I'm on MJ5 bootloader so no Knox)?
edit3:
Seems my backup was 4.1.2 But it worked. I see both int and ext cards. Luckily it is rooted. I'll try flashing JellyKat now all over again.... Hmmm, hope I'm still on MJ5? Can nandroid restore bootloader?
edit4:
I'm on MJ5 So hurray to flashing! Actualy, before flashing I have to restore files to SD card which might take a while.... so far on 4.1.2
edit5:
Flashed JellyKat, so far so good

[Q] Bricked my GS3 Please Help!!

So I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy S3 by using Odin v3.07 but I think I installed a bad pda and now my phone is saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I've tried everything but they keep failing I don't know what to do. My phone is SGH-I747 4.4.2.
Since your phone was running 4.4.2, do not attempt to flash any ROMs using that attempt to downgrade your bootloader to anything prior to 4.4.2.
Try this to get your phone up and running:
download the latest CM11 for the d2lte and save it to an external SD card: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte
dowload the latest tar.md5 version of Philz Touch for the d2lte from here: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_...Edition/d2lte/
boot phone in download mode, open Odin 3.07, do not check anything except f.reset.time, flash Philz via PDA box, remove USB cable when you see the word Reset appear in the status window, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, format system, Dalvik, data, and cache, flash cm11, and reboot.
How do you save it into an external sd card??
Put the microSD card into a card reader and copy the ROM to the microSD card. Make sure the microSD card is formatted using FAT32.

Oh ok im going to have to buy one are you sure this will fix it?
You could also flash a custom recovery, boot into recovery, mount the phone's internal memory, and copy a ROM to the internal storage. I know I can mount my Nexus 4's internal memory using TWRP even if my phone does not have a ROM.
I see your warranty bit is at 0. Flashing a custom recovery will change it to 1 which will void any remaining warranty on your phone.

[Q] Unsupported SD card after format

Ok so i was using viper rom 5.0.2 and had formatted my sd card as internal... now i installed another rom - Wolla. The Rom Works perfectly... but it says my SD card is not supported and I need to format it either as Portable or Internal... the problem is that i dont have a back up and i cant figure out a way to access my card...Any ideas???
Is there a way to Migrate/Mount the old internal sd on to the new ROM???
Restore your Viper TWRP backup, if you made one before flashing Wolla.
Otherwise, try flashing back to Viper? Not sure if that will work. But worth a try.
