Ok so i was using viper rom 5.0.2 and had formatted my sd card as internal... now i installed another rom - Wolla. The Rom Works perfectly... but it says my SD card is not supported and I need to format it either as Portable or Internal... the problem is that i dont have a back up and i cant figure out a way to access my card...Any ideas???
Is there a way to Migrate/Mount the old internal sd on to the new ROM???
Restore your Viper TWRP backup, if you made one before flashing Wolla.
Otherwise, try flashing back to Viper? Not sure if that will work. But worth a try.

Hi All,
Im currently running Android Revolution gingerbread. I've recently changed from cyanogen to this mod - so far sooo good.
I've had a bit of a look around for an answer to this question but can't find anything definite.
My SD card has rubbish all over it, i want a fresh card - how do i do this ?
If I wipe everything will my Rom run ok? Also i had backups using rom manager however no idea where they are stored....please help a noob like me!
Final question - best way to format the sd card?
If you want to be on safe side, connect your phone to PC and copy everything from your sdcard to your PC. (this is just to ensure that you have backup of your sdcard if you need to use something in future).
Then boot into CWM and format sdcard from there. Do not wipe everything (like system etc. just format your sdcard...Formatting your sdcard won't affect your ROM
There are some notes too about formatting SD Cards here.
(The 3rd option down in the list.)
I formatted my card in the settings on MIUI but now it wont even accept it. It keeps telling me to insert a card even if I try to mount. Cwm is just as bad, won't even let me mount the card there. You think it's damaged? I've only had it a week.

Hi,
I havent seen this question asked already and it might be a dumb question but im going to buy a new SD card today to replace my original 2GB one from my Desire. And currently im running the Leedroid 3.3.3 ROM. When i get my new SD card, would i have to re-flash Leedroid onto my phone again. Or would i just have to partition the SD card and then everything should work as normal?
Thanks In Advance
reflash, because of a2sd
Would i have to do a full wipe and then flash? Or can i just flash it straight over the top of the original one?

Also would i be able to do a nandroid backup to my SD card which i have now? And then when ive partitioned my new SD card. Put the nandroid backup files onto the 8GB card and then should it be able to bring everything backup again? Eg Leedroid and etc

Yes you can do this. It will work as long as none of the files get corrupted.

Okaay thanks, also i cant find my micro sd adapter at the moment. Is it possible if i did a nandroid backup to my 2GB card and then put the nandroid files onto my computers hard drive. And then put the 8GB card in the phone and transfer it onto the 8GB card. And then powered my phone down and then booted into recovery mode. Would i be able to restore by nandroid files from the SD?
Yes. As long as you put it in the exact same folder path. Just copy the entire clockworkmod folder instead of just the nandroid files.

Do a nand backup of your current rom on your current sd card. Then partition your new SD card the same way you partitioned your original card. Maybe even increasing your EXT size if you want.
Now transfer all the files on your fat partition from old SD to the new. Make sure you copy the clockworkmod folder where the nand backup file was saved.
Put the new card on your phone and reboot to recovery and do a nand restore. That should do it.
If I missed out anything or something is not correct with what I said please correct me.
Good luck.

I tried exactly what you said and it didn't work, i get stuck in a bootloop after doing the nandroid recovery on the new SD card. Thankfully everything works fine when i put the old SD card and do the same nandroid recovery. I don't know if this matters but im using LeeDrOiD 3.3.3 R5 and i installed his "Dalvik Cache to /sdext" file and when im in recovery mode i get messages saying "cant mount sdext".
Would be very thankful if anyone could help me out
I hate to pee on bonfires but I've had limited success with SD cards. Some seem to accept EXT, others don't. I even got a 16Gb card that turned out to be a 32Gb card but it won't accept the EXT. Some you win....

I think I tried that too as well (Along with wipe cache partition), although i'm not sure if I did it before restoring or after restoring (i most likely did it both before and after), will try again and let you know.
I just flashed Business Gingersense 3.5 last night. Everything looks great on this ROM, but my phone doesn't think my SD card is present. I can't access pictures, audio, files, etc on the SD card. Is there something I need to do to get this ROM to see my SD card? I've reflashed a few times, removed and reinserted SD card, etc.
Thanks,
Alan
Is your SD card in FAT32 format? You could try copying everything from your SD card to your PC and reformat it. Then copy everything back on to it.
BTW, I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm coming from cyanogenmod 7.0 to Business GingerSense 3.5. The phone recognizes the card just fine when I reflash back to cyanogenmod 7.0...
I can give that a shot. Just curious - does cyanogenmod require a different format than gingersense? Perplexed as to why it is there w/ cyanogenmod.
I just checked the properties on my SD card and it IS in fact in FAT32 format. Any other suggestions?
Fad this prob before cm7 was ext4 ur new rom is most likely ext3 reformat or partition in recovery

As long as it is in FAT32 it should work. I know that files on SD cards over time become corrupt from files being deleted and over written. Cyanogenmod is dependent on the SD card so reformatting it could possibly solve your issue.
Make sure you are on 1.5 of the ROM. You should not be having this problem unless you installed a mod that broke it or it was a bad install.
I'm thinking the latter... I flashed the ROM a few times with the same result. I also flashed McTwist Sense 2.1/3.0 and had the same results. Flashed back to cyanogenmod 7.0 and everything is fine again. Have any ideas of what to look for? Mind you, I'm a newb so you might have to spell things out for me.
Thanks again - really hoping to try out your ROM.
Alan
Hi folks I'm new here so go easy on me
I recently installed CyanogenMod via the installer but I mid the s-pen functions more than I anticipated so I have been looking at the different ROMs on here and decided to try Phoenix ROM. when I downloaded the ROM and super clean as described in the instructions I placed them both on my ext SD card but I can't flash from ext SD via Phil's cwm as it doesn't find the SD card it says its not mounted. Is it OK to place the 2 files on my phone root directory to flash from there or will super clean wipe them from there too before I can flash the ROM.
Thanks in advance

what is your SD card ?
64 GB ?

if you use a super clean wipe Zootscript Megawipe to clean, yes it will erase your internal USB storage.

Its a 8gb card I've got a 32gb one coming in the post but I'll have to wait a day or two for it. I know the card is working fine as I can transfer stuff to and from it but when I try to access it from recovery is keeps saying there's no card mounted

switch off and remove battery and place the ext sd and boot up and see if it detects on phone now proceed to recovery and wipe there u can even find a ption to mount internal storage so after the wipe u can place your file to internal sd but before doing anything just verify if the mount is working and if the ext sd has detected or not
Tried that but no success still says unable to mount path no matter what I try to do withe the external SD it works fine from the phone just not during recovery. Could it be a bug in cm 10.2
How do I get the ROM to the internal SD if I mount it with recovery can I connect it to my laptop and transfer of over from it.
Sent from my GT-N7100
I've tried formating the SD card to fat32 and flashed the latest cwm recovery and still no joy with being able to use the external SD to flash from. So if I do the super wipe how do I get the zip file for Phoenix ROM or any other ROM for that matter onto the phone to flash it
well, i am not sure it will work or not,
but have you try with OTG cable + thumbsdriver/ pen driver with the rom in it to connected to your phone to flash in recovery ?
if this dont work, probably u will need a brand new memory card for sure
Well i finally got it sorted i flashed the latest cwm recovery again using the internal memory and it worked i can now access the external sd card from recovery so im now running phoeniX v14 and sofar im impressed and glad to have s-pen functionality back again

I know this should be directed to the twrp forums but I wanted to get feedback from owners of the sprint lg g3 preferably using the CM12.1 android version 5.1.
I have always had this issue where I am unable to flash roms on my external sd card via twrp. Everytime I try (just tried again tonight), after over and hour of restoring, it was only at 10%. When I flash the same rom on the internal sd (memory) it only takes about 10 minutes to accomplish the entire restore, its the same way for backups too. I don't understand why I am unable to do backups and restores from my external sd. It is very inconvienant to keep moving the backups from external to internal and vice versa. Plus, I can never put more than 1 backup on my internal because they take up so much space (roughly 8gb). It doesn't matter what backup rom I flash it does the same thing. Has anyone else been able to flash roms from their external sd card and if so, what did you have to do to get it to work? I have sent my concerns to the twrp team with no replies back. I am just curious if others are having the same problem or if their has been a fix for this.
I am currently on version 2.8.5 of twrp.
Does anyone have any suggestions or feedback on this issue? Thanks
Hey mate,
You could try installing the TWRP version for the G3 from their app, rather than just the generic version for any phone. If that doesn't work, then it sounds like your SD Card could be corrupted. I backup my whole phone to my external SD Card before I flash any updates or anything else, and can install the ROM updates from my SD Card with no problems whatsoever.
All I can really think of is either a new SD Card, or the official TWRP for the G3 from their app.

Thanks for the response. Do you have a G3 also? I have installed the official bumped version of twrp for my sprint phone and am still having issues. Just by curiousity, when you are in twrp, are you able to backup and restore directly to/from the sd card. I do not have any issues with my card other than this, I can transfer and move files, etc. I have noticed though on my 64 gb scandisk card that when it first boots up, it will say not able to retrieve location. I put a different card in the phone and that message stopped which makes me believe it has something to do with the card. That location message just started about a month or two ago.

It turns out that it was something to do with the external SD card. I replaced it with a brand new card and i am able to backup and restore to/from the external card with twrp.
